Tina was very helpful and understanding and Karl was enthusiastic and informative. They made me feel really comfortable with the process and I had a lot of trust in the team, which felt good. Since making my Certified Pre-Owned vehicle purchase, I have taken my car in for maintenance and also had a great experience. The staff is friendly and keeps me in the loop, and I very much appreciate the ability to get a free Mini to use as a loaner while my car is in the shop. Somehow we made it, and the service manager, Kevin Peterson, was able to fix everything as they were closing -- including washing the car! I took my 2009 Mini in for a service diagnostic because it was leaking coolant and appeared to be leaking some oil. Besides the very long wait for the car, the tech handed me an estimate for a new thermostat housing and a new oil housing. I was told to replace both of these housings, with the main problem for the coolant leak being the thermostat housing. I was told the oil filter housing required them to basically take apart the car to get at the filter housing. The estimate for the total repair was around $1200. I told them to fix the main leak by replacing the thermostat housing, and I would consider the oil filter housing later on since it wasn't the main source of the coolant leak, and was the more expensive repair. Fast forward to my drive home. As I was driving, my temperature warning light came on, and I had to pull my car over on an interstate to let it cool down. As trucks were whizzing by me, I was able to get under the hood. My coolant tank was totally drained. Totally. Drained. I added coolant and waited, hoping the short time the warning light was on didn't cause permanent damage to my engine. I called MINI the next day and told them--and they basically called me an idiot on the phone. The tech was dismissive, unapologetic and said "well, you needed to replace the oil filter housing, too--we told you that", and passed off this mess on me. Not knowing much about cars, and confused how the "main" leak of a thermostat housing was fixed, yet my coolant tank EMPTIED OUT on my drive home, I simply assumed it was something I did. I was confused because even though the coolant was leaking before the "fix", it wasn't draining the tank. After the "fix" the tank drained out on the way home. I decided to take the car to another shop, one specializing in imports, but not exclusively MINIs and told the guy that I needed the oil filter housing replaced, and that my car was leaking coolant and provided him a copy of the MINI Madison estimate. The coolant was still leaking, and pretty bad. He called in less than a day and told me that I did NOT need an expensive oil filter housing repair. In fact, he said that I PROBABLY didn't need an expensive thermostat housing repair. The car was NOT leaking oil at all...and that my last oil change wasn't done quite right causing what looked like a minor oil leak. He tidied that up for me, no charge. But the coolant leak was the bombshell. He said that the cause of the coolant leak was actually a HOLE IN THE HOSE. That's right, MINI Madison didn't notice a hole in the hose. He said "they probably forgot to PUT coolant in your car and never noticed the hose, causing the leak that tripped the temperature warning". WOW. Total cost on this fix ? A little less than $200. It has been running great ever since I took the car to the different shop a few weeks ago. Never. Ever. Ever. Again will I take my car to MINI Madison. They were rude, and missed the boat completely on my car repair. read more

Bought an all electric 2023 Mini 2 door hatchback on the condition that it could be charged with our Generark HomePlus 2 Solar charged back up power cell. The salesperson was made aware of this prior to our purchase. It was documented in an email to them that they responded to. To date, we have been unable to charge the mini with the Generark. We visited the dealership with both the car and power cell and asked for assistance. They checked the charging cables we were given by plugging them into the showroom floor and said they worked fine. It was unresponsive to my problem as the cables detected the powercell but would not transmit. They took a photo of the powercell's details and said that they would refer the matter to Mini Engineering for a fix. We haven't heard anything back. What's more, they wouldn't reply to our follow up emails. We are in communication with the powercell manufacturer to see if a fix is available from them. So here's the rub: 1) they'll do nothing to stop you from making a mistake with your purchase, and 2) once you buy you're pretty much on your own. Also, the passenger drop down sun visor was loose when we picked it up. We shouldn't have taken possession of the vehicle. When you drive it droops just enough to decapitate your skull cap if the airbags are working. All in all,...it's a "no" from us. Better electric vehicles exist that have a more sensible range per charge. read more

This was my first vehicle purchase. I wasn't excited about it but it was important that I purchase a vehicle before winter arrived. If I had more time to shop around I would have avoided Mini of Madison all together. I purchased a 2011 Nissan Sentra. I was told that it was on an auction site and that it had been tagged so the lowest price they would take would be the sticker price. I mentioned to Sheena that I am not interested in haggling and I do not see the point in going back and forth on a price. I first looked at the vehicle in mid October, the purchase was finalized in mid November! Why? That is a good question, I assume because they were looking for a better price to come from the auction and it didn't so "selling it wholesale and locally" was a better option. The original price was 11987. I offered 11700 and that was not enough, a month later Sheena sends me a text message stating that the vehicle is now 11495. Lower than what I offered to begin with. I am sure if I had been in a situation where I was able to wait a bit more, the price would have come down further. I had been receiving texts every week with a lower price before I figured that 11500 was a good price for a 2011 with 31000 miles. I came in to purchase the vehicle on a Saturday, David the finance manager was very polite and did his job well, except for a minor second key issue and a replacement key policy. I am not sure if it is appropriate to air out the whole interaction but Shawn the new car sales manager came and said that there was nothing he could do and the company had to balance customer satisfaction with profits. If that is not some of the worst things I have ever heard from a manager-of any company- I do not know what is. After explaining to Shawn that I did not agree with him and after he told me his hands were tied, he said he would meet me half way on purchasing a second key. I do not know how that is possible when just minutes before there was nothing he could do and it was my option to sign the key replacement policy- which would indicate that I had been given two keys to begin with. I told Shawn that that was unethical and inappropriate. He said that that was what I could do because people do that.... After Shawn was no help, David offered to pay for the other half of the key out of his own pocket because I explained that that was quite shady what Shawn wanted to do and coming from a manager, inexcusable. It was above and beyond for David to offer to pay for my half of the key. I should mention, I still have not received the key but I am hoping that will happen soon. Finally, when I finally signed all of the papers and had the keys placed in my hand I left. I stood in the parking lot for about 20 minutes with my mom going over how to use the car, figure out the lights, mirrors, radio, and controls. No one showed me the vehicle in detail. About two weeks later, my mother mentioned that she thought that the car was missing an antenna, I called Sheena to ask if my model had an antenna and she said no, that the newer vehicles don't come with antennas. I went to look at the same model vehicle at the Zimbrick Nissan dealership and I saw that my model does indeed come with an antenna. I called to see how much it would cost to get one and the Nissan parts manager told me about 40-50 and that my warranty didn't cover it. I called Chuck to ask him for the information about Zimbrick management and who I could contact to air out my final frustrations. He told me there was no one because each dealership was ran individually and that I should send him the letter. I was not sure if I believed that and after I went in that evening to talk to him, he told me again to write the letter and he would pass it out to the general management at their next meeting. I aired out my issues to him, though, when I look at the situation in its entirety are relatively small and minute issues, but they are most definitely issues that should not have been. By the end of the meeting he offered to put on an extra antenna he had in his drawer and to discuss with David and Shawn what happened when I came in to purchase the car. Chuck tried to put the antenna on, but the actual issue was that the previous antenna has broken off. He told me he would set up a time for me to come in and have it installed and settle the second key issue. This was about three weeks ago at the beginning of December. I have yet to hear anything from anyone. This was my first car buying experience and my first and last time dealing with Zimbrick Mini of Madison. I would have hoped this would have been a lot smoother and easier an ordeal. The only Core Value that I saw from the Zimbrick Mission Statement came from David when he offered to pay for my key out of his pocket. I would not recommend this dealership to any of my friends even though the name is well-known in town. The service and experience were subpar. read more

Purchased a used car from Mini. Sales person, Kevin, was great and car seemed solid and reasonably priced. Deal was done and was excited to enjoy my new car. The vehicle soon had some vibration issues. Mike in service is perhaps, the best service advisor that I have ever had. Super helpful, and I felt the mini group was all working in my best interest. The issue could not be completely resolved so I was introduced to Steven the manager. He tried to help as well, but I soon asked what options if I wanted to return the car. He said that we could potentially work a "deal", but I would cost me some money. No full refund even though car did not perform as advertised. His offer was that I could return the car but that the sales tax could not be refunded. I found this odd, and the State of Wisconsin may find that odd as well. At this point, I realized not everyone in the dealership was on my side. I have been a Zimbrick client for 30 years and this attempt to deceive is disappointing. I have owned my MINI since 2007 and had it serviced at dealerships across 4 states (California, Alabama, Wisconsin, Kansas). Like many owners, I love my MINI and always take it to the dealership to ensure quality care. Unfortunately, I did not receive that at MINI of Madison. I took my car here on several occasions, many under warranty. Overall, I asked them to replace my tires, look into a problem with my sound system (it would turn on, but no sound would come out until you turned it off and back on), as well as get my standard oil changes. After receiving my car back the first time, the rear back up sensor no longer worked. I called MINI of Madison that same day to let them know about the problem and that it only occurred after they worked on it. They booked me for a new appointment, but when they came back in, they wanted to charge me $100 to run a diagnostic on it. I explained to them that there was no problem before they had the car, and after much arguing, they ultimately waived the fee. Unfortunately, they could not figure out what was wrong with the car (much like they couldn't with the radio) and said it must be due to squirrels chewing wires. They said the only way they could determine the cause would be to completely take everything out and look at all the wiring. Suffice it to say, I decided that was not worth the cost. Fast forward to moving out of state and dealing with a reputable dealership, and I am now seeing all the problems with MINI of Madison. First, I needed to get new tires after only 12,000 miles and the new dealership told me to call MINI of Madison to inquire about the warranty. The service I received from that call was incredibly rude and demeaning. The person on the phone talked down to me, telling me that they wouldn't do anything because I had not rotated the tires and any person knows they need to be rotated. I pointed out that I had brought my car into them several times since purchasing the tires and they never said anything to me and he just laughed and said that was because it should have been obvious. Second, the new dealership noticed that one of my cooling fans had turned off, and replaced a fuse. Suddenly, my rear sensors worked again. I told the new dealership what I had been told and he said the Madison dealership either didn't know anything about how these cars are wired or they were too lazy to check the fuse. There is no evidence of chewing on the wires. I am so happy to be done with Madison MINI and hope that other proud MINI owners can be forewarned. read more

Made an appointment for Monday to give it a once over and One hour before my appointment the Sales rep called to tell me the car had sold. After I just got approved for a loan too. No heads up or anything that the car was being looked at. I see how they do business there. read more

We were very excited to be buying a MINI. But, they're in-service delivery program SUCKS. *We negotiated the price etc. over the phone. So, there was no haggling once we arrived. We were there to sign the papers and drive away. *We had to wait for Alicia (salesman) once we got there (at the prearranged time) for about 15 minutes. *Once we met her, she showed up the car. Great. She spend about 5 minutes with us without showing us any features of the car. Basically she said, read the owner's manual. Trust me, turning the car off is a unique feature that we had to learn the hard way. And I didn't know that the car shuts off if you're waiting at a light in neutral. I thought there was a problem with the car until I READ THE MANUAL. *After we (without Alicia) looked over the car, it was time to close the deal. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the finance manager to walk over from their adjoined dealership to close the deal and sign the papers. *Once the paperwork was done, it was off to find Alicia again to put our plates on the car. Another 15 minutes goes by. *Once the plates were on, she turned her attention to another customer and basically patted us on the back and waved good-bye. *During all of this, we visited with the general manager several times to speed the process along by asking for people, Alicia and the finance manager. He seemed more interested in playing video games on his computer than to help a customer. All, in all, I will never buy a car from them again. I felt that Alicia should have spent more time explaining the nuances of the car instead of making her next deal. I felt the general manager should have been more attentive to a car sale than to his computer. And I also don't feel the response to how things work on the car is to "Read the manual". The salesman and the dealership makes a lot of money servicing the customer and we feel we were raped by Mini of Madison. If you buy a car from Mini of Madison, be prepared to be shown the door once the paperwork is completed. And be prepared to read the 250 page owner's manual on your car...before you leave the dealership. The folks there, won't show you. The whole transaction has left a very bad taste in our mouths. read more
