I ordered the classic grilled cheese and there was a wait fit these the thing that got me was they had tons of the other grilled cheese sandwiches and no classic which is the easiest make among the three choices of grilled cheeses so finally got my sandwich and if that's their idea of a fresh grilled cheese I don't think so the cheese wasn't melted at all the bread was way too toasted to the point of crunchy. The fries were fine and the tomato soup was ok. Overall if the bread was a bit softer and the cheese melted this would be a hit but I doubt I'll get this again. read more

This was a super cute quick service, but it wasn't anything to write home about. We had the pork sandwich. It tasted great but the pork was fatty and hard to eat. It ruined the sandwich because you couldn't just bite into it without pulling all the pork out. If you've ever had a sandwich like that you know how frustrating it is. The plantain chips were really good though. The bathroom was a mess. That's what really knocked this down for me. Not a single stall was working and it wasn't a busy day at the parks. The restaurant was an okay environment and the staff were happy and helpful. A solid 3/5. It's cute and a much needed sit down food option, but I think it was just an off day for them. read more

The newly built Minion Cafe was just in time for Universal Studios's Taste of Universal, yay! It's located right around the corner from the Minion ride and before Funland. The Minion Cafe is built cafeteria style and patrons can either stand on the left or ride side and choose their orders from the menu screen above while the staff prepares it in front of them. Desserts and drinks are right before the cashier stations. Afterwards, patrons will pay at the cashier stations at the end. Due to COVID-19, individually wrapped utensil packages will be given to patrons upon request. COVID-19 Safety Procedures: Face mask and social distancing practiced. There are hand sanitizers at the entrance. Outdoor seating is available and Staffers are wiping down tables after patrons leave. Here's what my friends and I tried: $10 Loaded Tots: Generous portions of crispy Tater Tots topped w/chili & Mozzerella/Cheddar Cheese. I took this home & had this for lunch the next day w/my Krusty Burger, yum!!! $10 Loaded Chicken Nachos: Generous portions topped w/shredded chicken & scoops of guacamole, salsa, sour cream & diced onion & cliantro w/the cheese sauce on the bottom. Both my friend & I were impressed w/how sturdy the Minion tissue paper was since it didn't rip when we were scooping/scraping up the cheese sauce on the bottom. $10 Chicken, Bacon & Ranch Mac 'n' Cheese: Wonderful comfort food & hearty portion of cheesy Mac 'n' Cheese w/shredded chicken & topped w/bacon pieces, ranch powder & panko crumbs. $5 Unicorn Cupcake: Loved it! Aesthetically pleasing w/a rich & moist Funfetti cake batter & creamy, but super sweet unicorn color frosting. $5 Hazelnut Banana Pudding: Another aesthetically pleasing dessert! The hazelnut banana pudding was sweet & delightful, just like those adorable Minions, hehe! Need a place that is both colorful and full of character? Look no further then the Minion Cafe at Universal Studios Hollywood. They reopened about a year ago after being renamed and revamped. This is my 4 kids go to when we eat at the park. I love the tasty food. Prices are reasonable too. Their deserts are whimsical and sweet. My only reason to take a Star is the lack of healthier choices. Their salad is very basic. The nachos are filling and good portioned. The grilled cheese selection is amazing! We had the pulled pork grilled cheese, nachos , and a cookie. The pulled pork on a grill cheese was different but actually really good. The banana BBQ sauce was really good and added to that yummy sandwich. The nachos w chicken was big and really good as well. We loved the portion size and they did it right. Ran out of salad and chicken at noon. Only 2 option even remotely close to healthy. We threw most of the "food" away. And the staff was angry and bitter. It was just weird. My friends got the loaded nachos. They thought it was a sufficient amount of nachos and give a good amount of topping. My pulled pork really was a grilled cheese with nice soft pulled pork in the middle. I really like the banana pudding. It is basically layers of vanilla wafers, Nutella, banana, and cream. "Gru, Gru, Gru, Gru, Gru" I slowly began to accept the disheartening reality: I was about to Gru my pants. As I scouted the Minion Cafe, looking for a place to conduct what can only be described as the second Trinity Test (The Gru-nity Test), I came to a horrific realization. The minions themselves deliberately placed the nearest bathroom 15 Gru-lometers from the cafe. I was doomed. The next thirty seconds, felt like thirty years. I began to throw tables on their sides, constructing a makeshift barricade as to shield onlookers from the corrosive Gru-nado of Gru-man excrement. However, to my complete surprise, no one took cover. One old man, wearing a neon yellow shirt with a unmistakable "G" on the chest came up to me and said: "let the Gru flow through you" It was time. Came here on a Tuesday, around 7pm for dinner with kids. Their service really sucks and their food is ugh.....someone ordered two ramen before us, and we ordered two ramen, the lady after us orders 3 ramen. The employees took out the ramen and placed it on the pick up table with out saying anything. Ao the lady behind us didn't know and took the 3 ramen. The guy that ordered before us didn't get their ramen at all, as well us us. There was no communication at all whatsoever. This place takes so long just to charge you for the time you pay for your food it's called. They have two lines that they could have with ample staff but they choose only to have all of them on one side making for a quad and one side on the employee side and a very long line on the customer side. I love this restaurant. The food is always good and the have my favorite food item in the whole park. I know it's silly but I crave this item all the time and wish I could get it delivered. The item is BBQ pulled pork grilled cheese. I'm telling you, it hits the spot every time. It also comes with fries and warm bbq sauce on the side. Which is nice so I can put whatever amount on my sandwich. Sometimes they do close early which can be a shame. Like I said before this in my favorite item. If they ever got rid of this sandwich I would probably just have to complain to them every day till they brought it back. As for the restaurant itself. It's really cute and cozy. Fast and friendly service with all seating being outside. As I keep eating it I will take more pictures. I have had it many times but forget to take a picture. From now on I'll keep taking pictures.
