Walked in on the night of Friday the 13th, 8:30PM As we enter, we saw a family of 5 sitting around watching a Korean TV show. They just looked us with questionable faces, like, "why are you here?" That made me wonder if they are closed for the night, so I double checked the sign on the door., 10AM-10PM. Still open. As I stood around in the front deciding if we should leave or not, one of the girl came over with the menu and told us to sit anywhere we want. Well it was raining pretty hard outside and no other customers, i guess they weren't expecting anyone at all. So we sat down, feel a bit uneasy and unwelcome. While look over the menu, the girl brought over 2 bottled water. Not tap water in a glass! That's a plus. Finally. we ordered Korean Fried Chicken Wings, Silk Tofu Soup, and Stir Fried Pork over rice. The KFC Wings are simply amazing! The best I've ever tasted. It was very juicy and crispy. It's a nice, airy crisp that you can not find with any American or Chinese restaurants. It does not leave you feeling all greasy afterwards. Also the sauce has just the right amount of salty/sweet/spicy flavor that made it sooo perfect!! The pork was great, same, if not better than the other Korean restaurants in S FL. Tofu soup is comparable to other Korean restaurants, but i personally find it lacking when compared to Myunga's. Most of the main dishes are $8 and comes in pretty large portion, you will not leave hungry! I already planning to go back again and getting more KFC Wings and try the fried chicken gizzards next! read more

This place was a nice surprise. Came here based on yelp reviews and my bf was craving dolsot. The restaurant was very clean and the chalk art on the walls was impressive. We had steamed dumplings which were very good and dolsot (hot pot) with spicy pork. The dolsot was legit and still sizzling when it came to the table. The rice got nice and crispy on the bottom of the bowl which I love. All in all it's a cute little strip mall restaurant with excellent Korean food. Will probably try the ramen next time. read more

Have you ever been excited to try a place based on Yelp reviews and been utterly disappointed? I had that feeling two weekends ago when I took my boy and wifey to this Korean place. From the existing reviews, I was ready for the less than inviting decor. What I wasn't ready for was the indifferent and lazy service combined with blatant false advertising. Let's start with the advertising in a menu. When you put pictures in your menu, you are putting expectations in your customers head about what they are going to get. It is not unreasonable for a customer to expect the amount of food portrayed in the menu to be the amount they receive. In other words, the food on your plate should look like the food in the pictures! Wow, were we disappointed when the Galbi we ordered came out. Please see the picture I posted and compare to the picture in the menu. The menu shows strips and strips of Galbi. We received only one strip. ONE measly strip, with three sad bones. When got up to address this with the waitress, she gave me a shrug. When i said it didn't match the menu, I got another shrug. We paid 17.99$ for this ONE strip of Galbi. Sure, when you go to Myung ga in Weston, you are paying 23$ for Galbi, BUT YOU ARE GETTING 3X AS MUCH MEAT. And yes, I had to get up to talk to the waitress, because she did not once come to check on us. And my wife had to get up multiple times get us more side dishes. And, NO, this was not a buffet! They simply do not care about serving you here. Please also see the picture I posted of the two mussels. There were three in the tofu soup we ordered. The two mussels pictured never opened, meaning it was BAD SEAFOOD. I can't believe we ate most of the soup before we noticed they put bad seafood in our soup. Bottom line: This place is a rip-off/overpriced; they don't care about their customers; AND their menu is a LIE. I am sorry this review turned out to be a rant. I purposely waited over a week to write this review so I could write it with a calm head, but this place upset me so much I am still peeved about it all this time later. read more

Delicious and cheap Korean food! I love this little hole in the wall. On the TV was some random Korean show featuring an all too skinny girl doing some weird contortionist things. There are only a few tables, but it wasn't crowded when we got here around 2 pm on a Saturday. First off, they served us bottled water. This was unusual, but a pleasant surprise. The waitress was a bit indifferent but did everything she needed to. The menu has many of the Korean basics (although no stone pot). We ordered the Korean fried chicken (I love that Kevin C referred to this as KFC), tofu soup, and grilled eel served with egg. The chicken lived up to my expectations. Crispy outside, juicy meat, smothered in a tangy but sweet sauce. My seafood tofu soup was the right spice and had a good amount of seafood meat. My bf's grilled eel was cooked and marinated nicely. Absolutely the best Banchan I've had in South Florida, and the prices can't be beat. My mother had the Katsu and it was breaded thin and crisp while the pork was moist. I had the Soft Tofu and Seafood Stew and it was plentiful with muscles and squid as well as tofu and veggies. I'll be eating here again as soon as possible. Bottom Line: The hostess was nice, main dishes were yummy, prices are okay, but restaurant is very dirty. Granted, I've only been to Korea twice, but this was not exactly the experience we were hoping for. I will not be eating here again. There was no wait, and if you're eating in, you can seat yourselves and the hostess will bring you your menus. - The prices were okay, but for the types of foods they offer, mostly comfort foods, or things you'd find on a food truck in my opinion, I wouldn't say it was particularly cheap. -The dishes we ordered were the fried omelette and pork katsu. Yummy but not particularly awe inspiring and both looked like something a person could make at home. We also had mochi ice cream for dessert. It was very obvious it was incredibly old as the soft rice shell on the outside crumbled instead of having its usual a chewy texture. - My biggest and primary issue with this restaurant is how dirty it is. I made the mistake of going to the restroom before eating and couldn't help but notice all of the grime and filth on the floor and along the baseboards from the eating area all the way through the hallway to the bathroom. There was an oscillating fan in the bathroom which was unsettling because it's really just blowing all of the bacteria from other people onto you while you're in there. When I sat down I noticed my shoes were making a scraping noise as they rubbed against the dirtiness of the floor. So a friend of mine and I wanted to come here and I decided to scooe it out before hand just incase it's not good but ... spoiler it's good. Well the ramen is good. I sat down and immediately I was given a small silver cup and a pitcher of water and my menu. S soon as i closed the menu i was then asked what i wanted. I got the classic ramen it comes in a big silver bowl with a side of bean sprouts litchi and two things that im.not sure what they are. I also added dumplings to my ramen for an extra 3$. It total my bill was 8$ the ramen was super flavorful and I didn't really miss not having all the meat and extra stuff other places have. In my quest to publish the most accurate reviews of my favorite restaurants, I have made it a policy to dine at an establishment at least 6 times before I commit my opinion to a review. That is why I have taken so long to write of my experiences at Minji's Café. But after my 8th visit, I felt I was ready. I first went there about 4 years ago. After having been to more decorous places like Gabose or Manna's, I was not impressed with the décor or rather, lack of. But I began to get a sense that this was how it was meant to be. There were long tables that each sat 6. Sitting at those tables were older (maybe around my age) Korean people and younger families enjoying their food. I came to realize that this was a place for families to come and enjoy authentic, no frills cuisine. It was there that I had my first taste of the Korean vodka-like liquor, soju and my first taste of Korean blood sausage called Sundae (an acquired taste). I also had a stew made from mackerel. As this is my favorite fish, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was brought to the table in a still-boiling bowl. It was unforgettably spicy and savory and flavorful. Fast forward 4 years. Drawn by my memories of that mackerel stew, I started going there again a few months ago, this time seeing the restaurant through a different lens. When I came back, I found a few changes, like the positioning of the tables. There was also a long black board located high on the wall, with the specials written in chalk in English and in Hangul. It was called "Minji's Wall of Special." It was cute and charming. I have since gone back there several times. Each time I went there, I found the banchan side dishes fresh and enjoyable. I like their kale, their potatoes and carrots and their kimchi radish banchans. I have ordered their goat stew at least twice, which is more like a tasty soup, much better than the goat stew that I had at another Korean restaurant. Along with the mackerel stew, it is one of my favorite dishes on the menu. I also enjoyed their beef tendon soup, the flavor of which reminded me very much of Turkish tripe soup. It's kind of bland unless you add lots of salt. So really, you have to like that sort of thing to appreciate it. And I did. I also had the fried chicken gizzard appetizer- lightly crunchy on the outside, the meat moist and flavorful on the inside. I also had their Budae Stew, made with kimchi, hot dogs and Spam. It is a Korean-American fusion dish that was invented by Koreans at the end of the Korean War. Although I enjoyed it, I had a much better version at another Korean restaurant. Really, I am in the process of trying everything there. The food has been consistently delicious and, despite the Yelp naysayers, fresh tasting. As for the service, I agree with some of the other reviewers. It can be, how do you say? Aloof? However, it all depends who you get as the food server. When we went there recently to celebrate my work buddy's promotion, it was the four of us. Min Ji took very good care of us and was very attentive, checking on us frequently. She brought out fresh banchan when we ran low. When we ordered the fried dumplings, there were only six to the order, but since there was 4 of us, Min Ji had the chef make two free extra dumplings so that we could each have two. I was very impressed by that gesture. Also at my request, Min Ji changed the channel on their Korean satellite TV so that I could watch my beloved K-Pop music videos. It is small stuff like that that makes a customer feel appreciated. I have come to hold Minji's Café as a very approachable and delicious alternative to some of the other Korean restaurants in the area. In comparison, some of the dishes are better at other places, while I found that many of the dishes at Minji's Cafe were better than at other places. It is an honest-to-goodness, family-run business, that is geared toward simple, home-style Korean cuisine. It took me 4 years to figure that out. I can hardly wait for my next visit! read more

So my friend, colleague, fellow foodie, Stan C. told me about this place. and it's freakin' FABULOUS! This small hole in the wall, with great home-cooked korean food, that he claims is just like what he would have with his family back home. It's really hard to find, tucked away in the same plaza as King's Buffet and the Korean BBQ place, but on the back corner, and the sign is not well lit, and the sign is in korean (but on the storefront window, it's printed in english as well). So MAYBE this is just for the cool Korean people that know about it... but I just HAD To share my review, because I think this family, and the uber nice host, deserves some extra lovin especially from Yelpers. It's hard to find a nice restaurant with great service and food these days. So i'm rootin' for the underdog. :) !!! :) My friend was even hesitant to share this little gem with me, because he didn't want it too packed for when he goes. when you sit down, the owner brings each person a bottle of water, for free. unasked, and gladly accepted. (score!) so to start, we tried 2 apps, but everything came out all at once.. - Chicken Wings... O M F G... these were the best chicken wings, in life!!! I thought I loved lefty's wings, but these are some freshly made, homecooked, battered and fried, and all sauced up chicken wings. kinda spicy, sweet and just a hint of asian-ness to it... that we just devoured, they were fabulous hot, and still great when even they cooled down a bit. if you come here, and are unsure of what to get... get this! - Spicy Rice pancakes. These were on the spicier side, and when they came out fresh and hot, it was yummy! But when they got to room temperature they weren't as great. but its' these cylinder's of rice based goodness, in a spicy sauce with kimchee in it. i'm not sure how else to describe it. as for the entrees we got: - Beef strips sauteed with green peppers and onions, served with rice. Yum! - and then a 19 dollar hot pot of SPICY stew. it was on the korean side of the menu, and we just pointed to the delicious photo, (they were out of the chicken, and beef version, so we got what they had left, which had hot dog in it). the stew came with veggies, kim chee, the jabchae type noodles in it with slices of hot dog, and tofu. everything was great! The hot dog was a bit on the odd side. but otherwise a great dish. i want to try it next time with the other meats they have to offer. and then of course you get the 5-8 dishes of different kim chees to try and eat as well. :) If you speak korean, then great! You can describe what dish you like, and he'll know what you are talking about. and if you don't... there are pictures on the wall, on the menu, AND his english gets him by. and he's sooo nice that when we wanted to order another dish, he said "No more, that's enough food for you guys" because we didn't know how much food to order... So honest!!! :) with that being said. the three of us ate to our hearts content... AND we had leftovers enough for 2 of us to have lunch the next day. Mmmm... read more

Great location if you want Korean food quick and cheap. This place keeps it clean and simple with no special decorations, just tables, chairs and a television showing some cheesy Korean game shows. When you sit down they serve you bottled water which is odd but beats drinking that Florida beach water. As usual plenty of banchan is served with every meal. A favorite starting item is the Korean Fried Chicken or better yet known as KFC. The chicken comes out piping hot, juicy and with lots of bold flavors from the sauce. definitely a good appetizer to get. For the main course I've ordered the mackerel special, a good dish and definitely good bang for the buck. My usual favorite, Dolsot bimbimpap, is not available at this particular location which is really unfortunate. I've tried the regular bimbimpap which was decent, but definitely had the missing element of the stone pot. read more

Food and atmosphere: Very nice. Would recommend this place for people wanting to try out authentic Korean dishes. Why I did not give 5 stars: the discrepancy between the opening hours listed on Yelp/Google maps vs. their ACTUAL opening hours. Yelp and Google maps state their opening hours are from 11:30am-10:00pm, but be aware that they are on a break from 3:30pm-5:00pm on Mondays to Fridays. If they had clearly stated this on Yelp/Google maps (rather than on a sheet of paper taped on their door), I could have saved a 30-minute drive. Another incident: They say they close at 10pm, so I thought maybe I could drop in at around 9:30pm because I had something quick to ask the owner/manager about the food. I do understand that it was near their closing hour when I arrived, so I wasn't expecting their kitchen to be open for new orders, but I did expect the place to be open at least, because 10pm is technically when they SHOULD be closed. Nope, all the lights were out and they were done for the day. This happened a couple of times, which makes me question the mentality of the owner towards their opening hours, kind of like "oh well, we only have 30 minutes left and we don't expect any customers at this hour so let's just close down early today". If they say they are open till 10pm, I think it would show a sign of respect to current and potential customers if they actually STAY open all the way till 10pm. read more

You can't beat that! *Sundae (korean blood sausages) - I liked it. My boyfriend and son hated it but they had no idea what to expect since they never had it before. *Donkatsu (pork cutlets in panko bread crumbs) - Very good. *Mackerel Stew - Delicious! Be careful of the fish bones! *Lapokki (rice cake and ramen in spicy sauce) - Decent; only place in Fl that makes it although I've had dukbokki at Gabose which is the same thing without the ramen noodles in it. I think this place was better. *Jajangmyun (noodles in black bean sauce) - Decent; had better but not in FL) The side dishes (ban chan) were also very good. This is a wonderful, authentic restaurant, and it is very cheap, under $8 (!) for most dishes. The restaurant is as simple as it gets, some tables and chairs and a TV with Korean shows. There is no decor, so this is not the place to impress your date with elegance. It is very comfortable though and not too noisy. The other customers when I was there were a large Korean family, who looked very happy with their dinner. The owner, who is very pleasant, speaks minimal English, so he can't really give detailed explanations of the dishes. I am certainly not an expert in Korean food, but I have lived in a number of places in Asia, so I have some sense of what is authentic. I think this is. It seems like real, family style food. We had steamed dumplings, bulgogi and spicy pork, which I requested should be under spiced because I was with someone who cannot eat spicy food. Asking for unspicy food in Korean restaurants can be risky. It can signal to the cook that the food should be tasteless. That was NOT the case here. The food was well flavored, not bland, just not really hot. I think that takes some talent! Korean restaurants serve a variety of small vegetable dishes called (?) banchan with their meals. They can be the best part of the meal. They were wonderful at Minji's, but so were the dumplings (homemade skins and filling, delicious) and main courses. In short, this is a gem. Help to keep it in business. Please encourage them to keep cooking REAL Korean family food, not typical South Florida Asian like so many other restaurants here. read more

We stopped by this restaurant right based on the Yelp reviews. This was one of the best Korean food I've ever had. When you walk in, you are greeted by a sweet Korean family. There are really cute drawings of food items and characters like Pikachu on each wall. The portions are generous (we got the seafood pancake, fried chicken gizzards and seafood tofu soup) and very affordable. Came here for lunch today with a friend and the food was great. It's a very small restaurant and kinda hard to find. They have a few long tables that reminds me of the food stalls in the Philippines where you can share tables and sit next to strangers. We had a black raspberry wine for our drinks and it was really good and subtle. We also ordered Korean chicken wings they were really bland. I was expecting it to be really really tasty but it was so bland. And for our entrees, I got a spicy pork over rice and my friend got Bulgogi over rice and they were both great but the spicy pork was really good. We found this place the other night and wandered in close to closing time. Staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu. The food was great, although the seafood in the seafood noodle soup was a bit chewier than it should be. We had a tofu appetizer, which was awesome, Sam Gyap Sal (my favorite Korean dish), which was also awesome, and the seafood soup, which had a great flavor, but was, as noted above, a bit chewy. I've had Sam Gyap Sal many times, both in Korea and the US. This is the first time I've EVER found a Korean restaurant in the US that serves it with sesame leaves as it is served in Korea. It makes a huge difference in the taste of the dish. We will definitely go back. read more

Understand that this is more of a casual Korean street food lunch place, over the years I find their 2 best dishes to be the DonKatsu & the Bi Bim Bab with hot bulgogi meat added. I love coming here for lunch because they are always opened, light on my wallet, food is wonderful, usually pretty peaceful so I am able to do a little bit of texting & emailing, & I love watching the satellite feed from Korea. Went there for late lunch on a Tuesday. There's another Korean restaurant in the same building but I decided to try this one mainly because of the pricing. I felt like i was transported to the streets of Korea upon entering the restaurant. The waitress was very friendly and the service was quick. This place is so hidden, and it didn't help we went at night and the plaza had no lights at all so it was pretty pitch dark. We almost went to the wrong place as Da Mee Rak is in the same plaza. lol. As the other reviewer said this is a hole in the wall/hidden gem. It's the cheapest korean food you can get if you want to experience authentic Korean food. The prices are really fantastic compared to the other places. I went with my companion and it was his first korean food experience. We ordered blood sausage (it's not listed on the menu but you can ask for it), fried gizzard, and bibimbap. So mostly street type junk food. They were really good and very authentic in taste. The banchan (free starter side dishes) were of course not that great as you get what you pay for. It's the most simplest/cheapest banchan offerings. It was very intimate setting as the place is very small and there wasn't any other customers besides us that night. We sat in the front watching some Korean Variety show. It kind of gave me the feeling we were in a Korean home and having a quick family dinner :D The owner is very nice and friendly. I would definitely come back again if I ever get the late night munchies again :) But I really hope they have better lighting at night. Edit: So I tried coming again for a second time since I was craving for some ddukbokki really bad. Unfortunately I foresee this place closing down soon. We came around 8pm and their hours say on Saturday and Sunday their hours are up to 10pm. Their doors were locked and the open sign was off. There were still employees in there but they were unwilling to open the door for us even though they saw us standing out there for a good 5 minutes seeing if the place was still open. I was disappointed that they are closing before said time I am assuming they are not getting enough business and giving up. Even when they have a willing customer standing outside their door. Me and my companion went to the other korean place in the same plaza Da Mee Rak. Unfortunately they did not carry ddukbokki. ): But I ordered some small appetizers to go instead. But the waiter is extremely nice. It's a bit pricey so I might give Da Mee Rak a try for their entrees dine-in for a special occasion dinner or something. Edit 2 (10/26/12): I came again recently, this time I called ahead to make sure they were still open as it is quite a drive. haha. But it's worth it, their food is still very delicious and authentic. I am glad they removed that weird vienna sausage side dish from the banchan, as I didn't really like it and I hate wasting food. read more

The food is great. Service is alright. This is not your typical Korean restaurant. It's not vibrant and jolly. There's a tv that put on Korean channel, mostly showing most Korean music. But the food is what you're here for. No bbq. Just regular ole home meal Korean like kimchi fried rice and some kimchi soup. Go ahead and try it. read more

Such a hidden little authentic Korean gem! I was there at lunch myself and got the Bubolgi. It was sooooooo good. It's a little hole in the wall restaurant with Korean drama played on tv while u dine (somehow it makes your meal more authentic I think!). Oh did I mention they have an excellent price? Try this place if you are into authentic Korean food. Oh they don't have Korean BBQ there. read more
