    Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles)
    Jack D.

I'll start with the positives! The staff is very friendly, the dining room is very nice, and they're always extremely fast. Lunch comes with a complementary little salad and mini spring roll, both of which are very good. My company has gone out to lunch here multiple times and they're great at handling large crowds. That aside, I still feel like the restaurant can't get more than 3 stars. I would expect lots of seasoning and flavor from a Thai restaurant, but Mint Thai has always been on the bland side. I've had the fried rice and the Pad Kee Mao, neither of which were noteworthy. It's nice that you can customize your spice level, but be warned that it's not actually that spicy - if you really like spicy food, you can order the maximum spice level and it still won't have a huge kick. Finally, I feel like the portion sizes are a bit light, especially compared to the massive portion sizes that I've come to expect while living in Houston. TLDR; Mint Thai is a pleasant little kitchen that could be good for a midday lunch, but you shouldn't go in with high expectations.

Basil Leaves Thai Style Dinner with Chicken

First time here. The place was empty, which was surprising with how good the food was. Maybe just a slow night. I had the basil leaf Thai style with chicken. Delicious! The egg was cooked perfectly for this dish. I ordered spice level 1, and that was a hair too spicy for me. But the flavor was still there. I started with the chicken dumplings. While they tasted good, it said they were lightly fried. These were the deep fried type, which I am not a fan of. The dipping sauce was incredible! I had to drink the left over LOL. Parking was easy as they are in a strip mall. Service was very friendly, fast, and attentive. The restaurant was clean with a simple decor. Nothing fancy and far from a hole in the wall. I think just perfect. I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes, but I highly recommend the basil leaf Thai style.

Yummy Thai food! Tucked away in the plaza right next to the stairs on the first floor. This restaurant is always so quiet and peaceful inside. Never super busy and food comes quick if you dine in or do takeout! Extremely fast service. I've ordered their Pad Thai on door dash and dined in and the consistency has always been the same. My husband loves their curry here. Reasonably priced as well all this came out to $39.

Had a quick lunch at Mint Thai Kitchen in Montrose today. The food is always good and the lunch special for $15 comes with a salad, an egg roll and an entree - you can't beat that these days. Crispy Chicken and Rice

Came in late on a Tuesday. Greeted with a friendly smile. I had the Tom Kha Soup and Pad See Ew. I will definitely be back. So tasty. Very reasonably priced. This should be your go to Thai place.

Noooooooodles... Yum Yum!!! Located relatively close to Allen Parkway. Mint Thai is a cute restaurant with great food. I've been to the one on the North Side and was excited to see that they had one on the South Side of Houston! Yaaaay! **Parking: Can be a bit crammed depending on the time of day you go. It's located in a shopping center that has quite a few businesses in it. We lucked up and got a spot in the front. **Service: Service was great in that there was one lady who worked at the front; but there were only 5 occupied tables. She did a great job of taking our orders and topping our drinks off. **Food: We ordered a started and definitely did not read it correctly. We wanted spring rolls and ended up ordering the Goong Gabok (Golden Shrimp Rolls). In reading it lightly, I thought it was a spring roll with Shrimp, boy was I wrong. This actual dish was a deep fried whole (tail on) Shrimp wrapped in a wonton wrapper. It was good, just different than what I expected. Should've ordered the egg rolls. At least I know now what I didn't know before. Sheeeeeeeeesh!!! I also ordered Pad Kee Mao (Spicy Flat Noodles) with Chicken. It was good. I am a creature of habit, so I always get this dish and it never disappoints. Either way, this place has great food and great service. I have also ordered to go and they are pretty quick. The portions just okay. Because I am a creature of habit, I will definitely be back, but will read the menu twice before stepping outside of the box again. Lol

    Padwoonsen with tofu

PORTION SIZE PEOPLE! Mint Thai will not skimp you, you get a packed bowl of food for a great price. We ordered to go and the containers were piping hot and full to the brim. The padwoonsen was good, tofu was a little dry and had little flavor (but then again it is tofu) and the pad kee mao had awesome flavor. Not my absolute favorite Thai in Houston but still very good! Online ordering process was super easy and our order was ready on time.

We took my dad here and it was his fist experience with Thai food. He was really impressed! The only thing semi disappointing was that the papaya salad. I wasn't expecting it to be is served cold and hard. It was very acidic and didn't match the menu description. The lettuce wedge was difficult to cut with a butter knife. They don't have steak knives so instead they brought us back a fresh wedges that was already chopped. Not pictured is the Pad Thai which was sweeter than other places. I got a spice level of 3, so go higher if you want a kick.

From the moment you sit down at those fun, nostalgic purple 90s-style tabletops, you're transported…read moreinto what can only be described as an authentic Thai market experience. The atmosphere feels lively, casual, and packed with personality--exactly the kind of place you hope to stumble upon but rarely do. The menu is enormous, featuring dishes from different regions of Thailand, with everything from soups and stir-fried noodles to rice dishes, curries, seafood, and grilled meats. Looking around the dining room, it seemed like nobody ordered the same thing because there is just so much to try. Best of all, the prices are incredibly reasonable for a place with this much hype. I had some of the best noodles of my life here. The Pad Kee Mao was phenomenal (best I've ever had and I eat thai food OFTEN) the noodles were chewy, bouncy, fresh, and perfectly coated in sauce. Everything tasted made-to-order and arrived piping hot. We also ordered the Beef Noodle Soup, which was rich, comforting, and packed with flavor, along with the Green Papaya Salad, which was easily one of the best versions I've ever had. The heat, acidity, and freshness was incredible and so well balanced. Many of the dishes are served on banana leaves, which adds to the entire experience and makes everything feel even more authentic and special. As someone who loves spice, I also appreciated the range of spice levels available. They don't hold back, which I always consider a good sign. One of the coolest surprises is that there's an attached market selling imported products from Thailand and Vietnam--lots of fun snacks, drinks, sauces, and ingredients you won't find at a typical grocery store. A few things to know: parking can be a little challenging, and while it's a sit-down restaurant, you'll need to head to the cashier to pay. They also accept cards, so don't worry about bringing cash. If I lived nearby, I would honestly come here every week just to work my way through the menu. This is the kind of restaurant that's worth planning a trip around. I would come back to Houston just for this meal. When people say Houston has some of the best Asian food in the country, this is exactly the type of place they're talking about!!

We visited for lunch on a Tuesday and had no wait to be seated. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. The spring rolls and dumplings were both very good and made a great start to the meal. The Pad Thai had nice flavor and was enjoyable. My husband ordered his dish at a spice level 4 (their highest spice level), but felt it wasn't quite as spicy as expected, so keep that in mind if you like a lot of heat. The portions were very generous, and we definitely had leftovers. The kids' chicken fried rice was a huge portion and was surprisingly good. We also enjoyed the mango sticky rice for dessert--it was a great way to end the meal. The only disappointment was the Thai tea, which tasted a little weak compared to what we've had at other Thai restaurants. Overall, the food was tasty, the service was good, and the portions were excellent. We'd be happy to return and try more items from the menu.

As for the entree, I ordered the Khao Soi with shrimp and my friend ordered the spicy red snapper. We tried their appetizers including Salmon Rolls (flavorfully packed with cream cheese, salmon, and spinach in a crispy shell and loving that actually spicy mayo on the side), Thai Style Jerky (deep fried and sun dried marinated pork and beef served with sticky rice rolls and side spicy tamarind sauce, a bit too dry/chewy), Fried Tofu (perfect little triangles, so good by itself or with the side sweet and sour sauce with crushed peanuts), Chive Pancake (deep fried and chive packed triangles with a slight chew to it, great by itself or with it's spicy soy sauce companion). As for the mains, the Spicy Seafood Fried Rice is a good value as it was loaded with all sort of fruits of the sea (shrimp, squid, and mussel), with prominent lemongrass and kaffir lime aroma, but a bit wet or moist for a fried rice dish, the Crabmeat Omelet is served with a nice portion of lump crabmeat where you can taste the flavor of the seafood and add sriracha to liking, and the Beef Pad See Ew is made appetizing with wok charred flat rice noodles along with a savory blend of soy sauce, Chinese broccoli and egg. The portion size is alright and filling for a moderately hungry individual, though it would've been even better a tad bigger for those coming in hangry. I'll be back for more when I'm craving some modern Thai food and especially want to try their curry dishes. Service was quick and efficient, attentive to refills on drinks and friendly!
