I'm always looking for new Thai restaurants to try and luckily we found Mint Thai Kitchen. We started our meal with the Goong Gabok (Golden Shrimp Rolls) which were good but nothing to rave over. What really made my dinner was the Pad Se Ewe which was flavorful and had plenty of meat. I had the opportunity to try the curry and while it was good I wish the sauce was a tad thicker. My recommendation is definitely the Pad Se Ewe and Thai Tea "Delicious". Overall this is a solid choice for Thai food with reasonable pricing. read more

Pad kee mao is off the hook, deep flavors and so tasty. Among the 4 dishes we ordered, this one was the favorite. They don't joke around with the spice level- we got this a level 1 and it still had a kick! The chicken in pad kee mao was juicy and added to the dish well. Pineapple fried rice was our next favorite. So much in the rice! Big chunks of pineapple, raisins, and veggies. There was a slight curry flavor to it which I loved. Good dish to share in family style. Rice was cooked perfectly. The panang curry is good too. We got it with beef and it is very flavorful. We ordered 2 golden shrimp rolls because reviews raved about it, but thought it was ok. Maybe our expectations were too high but it's your standard shrimp, good amount of meat! Sooo good! We had the vegetable egg rolls, coconut soup, the papaya salad, phad Thai, and the fried rice. Everything was SO good! I'm so happy we found this hole in the wall place. The service is great and the food, just simply delicious! My top recommendations are the: golden shrimp rolls (to die for), the panang curry, and the spicy combination fried rice. On another note, I am HUGE wing fan. I love wings. Any place that has wings, I will order them and eat them. With that said here is my review on their wings: Ok so these are huge. It truly is the entire wing of the chicken; drumstick part and flat part. The outside is dry and flaky, flavored by garlic. The inside is nice and juicy...however, it really flops. You get to be as adventurous as possible with the outside of the wing...but it really falls short of flavor and taste. The outside is dry and flaky and just really odd looking. Almost unappetizing. The yellow curry here was very good. It was flavorful, and the level 5 spicy was great! I really like spicy foods, and the 5 got me sweating without killing all other taste! It's probably one of the best curries I've had in Houston. The soup dumplings were kind of just regular dumplings with a tiny bit of broth, and I feel like they were overpriced (8 tiny dumplings for $10). The service was also great though. Tried this the other night and I wasn't disappointed. I ordered ahead for to-go and sure enough it was ready in about 10 minutes. I had the Pineapple Curry with tofu- about $11. Good price for the amount. I was able to eat the whole meal in one sitting but some people could have leftovers. The taste is excellent- my only upset was the spice. I'm used to Thai food living in Hawaii so I expected it to be super hot. I got medium and it was a hair above mild, so I'll be getting hot next time. It's in a little strip, easy parking. So the must try's for me are the pork jerky, and the coconut soup (Tom kha). Service here is alwaYs fast and friendly. Really fresh ingredients! They can get busy during lunch so calling ahead for to go would be wise. Overall I really loved eating here regularly when I lived in the area. read more

Tried takeout for dinner and I will be back again. We ordered the yellow curry (chicken), pad kra pao (basil wok dish with pork and chicken), and chicken satays. All were delicious. Only suggestions I have - the peanut sauce that came with the appetizer was way too runny. It was more of a marinade consistency and you could barely get any to stick the chicken. Should be a thicker sauce. The cucumber relish was also sweet instead of vinegar & spicy which was a bit disappointing. WOW I think I might've finally found one of the elusive flavortowns Guy Fieri always talks about. I came to Mint Thai Kitchen mainly to explore Thai food outside of the classic Rice Village spots (think Thai Spice, Thai Village) and I'm super glad I did. I ordered a lunch special combination pad see ewe ($11), which came with a spring roll and a small salad. The spring roll and salad were actually pretty underwhelming, if anything. The egg roll was tiny and a little soggy and the salad lettuce was wilted- not a great first impression. At the same time, you're not coming here for a great spring roll and salad. You're here for the entrees, and for me, this place definitely delivered an amazing pad see ewe. Flavors were robust, noodles were perfectly cooked, sauce struck a nice balance between savory and sweet as well as grabbed onto the noodles very well, and all of the meats were incredibly tender. Lastly, it's important to note that you can choose the level of spice you'd like here (in my opinion, each level runs a little bit spicier than I expected, so beware when ordering if you can't handle spice very well!). I'd definitely say that Mint Thai Kitchen serves one of the best pad see ewes I've had locally. Had the appetizers been on par with the entree, and the service slightly warmer, I would've easily given this place five stars. read more

I go to the north location all the time, so when I found one in the Montrose area I was so excited. My favorite dish is the yellow curry chicken. The pad Thai spicy level 4 with chicken or tofu is so good that we rarely try anything new. But I have also tried pad ka prao, Thai tea, and mango sticky rice. All excellent. I pass other Thai establishments to eat at this location as I find their food more flavorful and fresher than the rest. My go-to dish at most Thai places is Pad Thai and I prefer their's the best. i wanted to go somewhere that wasn't as far out as thai gourmet and this place seemed like it fit the bill. we walked in on a weekday night at 7:30 and there was only one other party...at first a little alarming but later found that they took alot of take out orders. thai tea (4/5): looks like it was poured out of a jug but still good. I'm used to seeing that condensed milk poured into the thai tea mixture for that marbled effect. still yummy though. pad kee mao (5/5): yum!! i pretty much only order pad kee mao at thai restaurants and i can say that this place has one of my favorites in houston. the noodles soaked up the flavor and the chicken was tender. not insanely expensive either. papaya salad (1/5): booooooooo. wanted to try something new and this was not the business. for $10 you get a (large, at least) portion of a sad, soggy, lumpy mess that didn't have much flavor other than lime juice. it wasn't cold either, just room temperature. idk if thai papaya salad is suposed to be served soggy and warm, but if thats the case they nailed it.... service was fine and the food came out very quick! will come here again to order the pad kee mao again and hopefully try those fish sauce chicken wings. read more

My bf and I came during lunch and seated ourselves upon entering. We were helped immediately and our food and drinks came out pretty fast. I got the pad Thai and my bf got the chicken special. I'm hispanic so I like my food really spicy and got my spice at level 4 but it goes up to 5. It was honestly pretty spicy but that might have just been bc the food came out hot as well. Simple yet fantastic place for very good Thai food. The waiter was attentive but not overly fast and allowed us to enjoy our conversation. I got the red curry which was excellent. The spring rolls had no flavor except fried oil. Red curry had good flavor but the tofu and vegetables in the curry were disappointing.

The yellow curry and papaya salad were so good. Mild spicy tasted more like a medium. Noddles were pretty good. We got the pad kemao, pad Thai, and pad see ew. The noddles were a bit over cooked and lost the chewiness that I personally prefer. read more
