    Carbonara pasta
    Hailley O.

Probably the best pasta on the island! I came to his stall at the Kailua farmer's market on a Thursday evening and luckily it didn't look too crowded (I know the wait can be pretty long that's why). I ordered the carbonara pasta and it was so delicious! The fresh pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was so creamy. It had a generous amount of bacon, onions and a dollop of I believe mascarpone cheese. It also came with bread! Ordering is simple where you just write it down on a piece of paper and pay with cash. We waited about 20 min for our order to come out. The price wasn't too bad either, about $20 for the plate! This is now one of my favorite farmer's market stalls and a great spot for dinner!

Best authentic Italian food on island! Just returned from our three year assignment in Italy and was blessed to find Chef Alfredo at the Kailua farmer's market. Fresh, hand made, and HUGE portions of true Italian flavors make this well worth the wait for this one-man show presenting legitimate Italian flavors at a fraction of the cost of most Italian dinning on island. Come early to place your order as he runs out of his most popular dishes quickly! Quality ingredients, generous portions, and original Italian family recipes made with true Italian love and passion. Don't miss this experience!

I can't say enough praise for Chef Alfredo! I'm a longtime customer of his at the Blaisdell Farmer's Market on Wednesdays. I've tried many of his pastas, but one I recently had prompted me to write this review. I wish I noted down the name of this pasta dish I ordered, but it came with the classic handmade pasta, Italian sausage, onions, and pears in a gorgonzola cream sauce topped with candied nuts and sage. This dish was truly like no other pasta I've had. The gorgonzola cream was rich but not too pungent and the sweetness added by the pears and candied nuts melded perfectly. It reminded me of some kind of dish you would make after foraging in the woods haha. It just goes to show the sheer variety of Alfredo's menu that I've never seen this dish before in all the previous times I've come. There are probably countless other ones I still need to try too. Of course, this is a one-man show so the wait times can get long. I suggest going early. Also, as soon as you know what you want, snatch up that notepad to write down your order while other customers are still thinking! This strategy has worked for me many times, and that one place ahead in line can make the difference between being put in the next batch and waiting an extra 20 minutes.

I love a good value. For the price, The Pasta Guy gives you a lot of AND it's delicious! I see him every week doing his thing at the KCC Farmer's Market. I was bummed he was only doing Mexican dishes for a while and doing Italian at other markets. Then, he said he got requests to do Italian at KCC. Oh, joy! Here is my strategy. I look at his always changing menu and pick the ones that use fresh, handmade pasta. Then I think hard at narrowing it down. Sometimes, I just stare at the menu board. Today, I got the fresh pasta with gorgonzola sauce, Italian sausage, and mushrooms. To my surprise, he topped it with fresh burrata. Is it my birthday? And, the bread included is very good. A nice compliment to his dish. I wonder where he gets it. The only thing is you need to be understanding. He does everything himself. He doesn't have time to chat, or take your order (you fill out your own ticket), or collect money (you drop it in his lock box). Cash only, of course. But, a good pasta dish is worth the patience!

I walk past the Blaisdell farmers market every so often, and this pasta vendor always has a long line. I needed to see what the hype was about. I didn't know what his name was because he doesn't have any signage on his tent or vehicle. He works very slowly. Like I mean really slowly. He's physically moving quickly, but each individual pasta is very complex and takes a long time to make. I waited over an hour for three plates. The pasta was amazing and I'm glad I got to try it once, but would I wait an hour again? Probably not. It may have tasted better because I was so hungry from waiting so long. Chef Alfredo has no help though and is doing all the cooking. You write your order on a piece of paper and hand it to him. You also place your money into a box (honor system I guess). But that also means no change. My cousin got the carbonara ($20), and my sister and I shared the salsiccia ($22) and capellini al ortolana ($22). Everything was really good and made fresh. Each pasta had a lot of flavor. It came with a side of bread that tasted homemade. The portions were also extremely generous and probably could have lasted me at least 2-3 meals. Overall the food was good at a rather high price point. I'd come back again if I was super hungry and there was no line.

Chef Alfredo cooking up a storm

This guy runs the whole operation all by himself, cooking sometimes 9 orders at once. Not only is he a sight to see, he's good too. The noodles are chewy, and the flavors are good. The orders are BIG. Two of us split a carbonara and ate every last bit, soaking up all the sauce with the bread.

    Very bland carbonora

I ordered the Carbonara pasta after seeing a lot of hype about the Pasta Guy on social media, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. I watched as the chef started cooking the carbonora sauce in a skillet and he saw another order of carbonora so he added more boiled noodles to the same pan to prepare multiple orders at once--without adding more sauce or ingredients. The result was disappointing. I hate to admit it but Olive Garden was better. As you can see from the picture, the pasta lacked flavor and looked hastily prepared. To make matters worse, the dish used regular boxed noodles from the grocery store, which felt overpriced given the quality. Overall, it wasn't worth the price or the hype

Alfredo's menu. The top 3 entrees stay the same, but he will periodically change up the bottom three family recipes.

Alfredo single-handedly serves the best pasta on Oahu. My husband and I first met him two days after we moved to the island when we visited the KCC Farmers' Market. We stopped in our tracks because a) the food smelled so good and b) there were so many people crowding around him and taking videos. We quickly realized that it was because he was serving beautiful and delicious-looking food, and he was doing it all totally by himself. He was taking orders, doing prep, cooking, and serving. Next time you go to a farmers' market, look around--each booth with cooking involved likely has at least two or three people manning it. What Alfredo does is exceedingly difficult and special; it's a spectacle enough to consistently draw a crowd. After our first bite of his pasta, (we ordered the salsiccie) we were hooked. Having just moved to Oahu, we were not expecting to find a great place for pasta right off the bat. But Alfredo's pasta literally took my husband and I back to Italy. In 2022 we spent almost 3 weeks in Italy and enjoyed pasta from all different regions of the country, and we hadn't had anything comparable on the mainland since until we had Alfredo's. I couldn't believe it. Even the bread is so good. After becoming a little too obsessed, we've been going to Alfredo's consistently ever since--even after trying so many new restaurants in the four months we've lived here so far. Even when my husband and I took my parents to Alfredo's booth when they were visiting for two weeks, we ended up going twice more during their trip at their request. After they left, my dad has since been trying to recreate Alfredo's Putanesca and is regularly updating me on his attempts. Every time we visited Alfredo, it became more and more apparent how hard of a worker he is. His true priority is the customer and the experience they have enjoying his food. He has said before that he will only make a dish if he can make it the right way. He puts so much attention to detail into his work and never misses a beat, even though he is literally cooking nonstop for hours. He brings his supplies, sets up his tent and kitchen, cooks delicious food for at least three hours straight, cleans up, and takes down his setup, all by himself, with no help. If cooking at home is a lot of work, I can't even imagine doing what he does, and certainly not at the same caliber. I have seen customers be rude to him, I have seen people place multiple orders only to not return to pick them up or pay after he spent time cooking and preparing them, I have seen marketgoers take his utensils and napkins even when they haven't ordered food from him, and yet he still does it all with the patience of a saint. If you get pasta from Alfredo, not only are you getting the best and most freshly-made pasta on the island, you get to enjoy watching him make it right in front of you, and you get to support a local business that is so deserving. This business is truly an integral part of my husband and I's farmers' market experiences here on the island, and there's absolutely nothing better to us than sitting on a bench and watching people enjoy the market while eating the best pasta around! His hours: HFBF Honolulu Farmers' Market (Blaisdell): Wed 4-7 PM Kailua Farmers' Market: Thurs 4-7 PM KCC Farmers' Market: Sat 7:30-11 AM When you're ordering with Alfredo, here's what to do: 1) Write your name at the top of the paper on the front table using the marker he provides, along what dishes you would like to order and the quantity of each dish. If he is cooking, wait for him to take your paper. He will tell you the wait is about 20 minutes. Please be sure to speak loudly, as he is hard of hearing. 2) Walk around and enjoy the market, or hang around and watch him cook! 3) Wait until your name is called. Once he calls your name, you can place the exact cash for your order and tip in the black cash box provided on the left before collecting your food. Cash only! Utensils and napkins are available nearby as well. If you're visiting Oahu, don't miss out! Give Alfredo a visit!

Best (authentic) Italian food on island, period. Linguine noodles made by hand, aromatic sauces made from scratch before your eyes, and ingredients primarily source from Italy (from what I've seen). And the portion sizes are massive. One order from Chef Alfredo on Wednesday evenings also provides lunch on Thursday and Friday (if I can restrain myself from gorging). All served by an incredibly down to earth, generous Italian chef who could be working at a fine dining restaurant. But instead he chooses to serve us hungry folks once a week at the Blaisdell market.

    Pasta con gamberetti al pomodoro

This man makes amazing pasta. We tried the carbonara and the pasta con gamberetti al pomodoro and both were delicious. I've been to many Italian restaurants high end and mom and pop shops, and this man's pasta is now my favorite. ** It has such good bite, perfectly al dente, and the sauces were not too heavy, absolutely lovely** One plate can feed a family of 4 with the pasta portion including all the shrimp, tomatoes, whole roasted garlic cloves and the ciabatta roll on the side. For all that seafood, fresh pasta, and homemade sauce it's worth the wait and it was only $25. The service was fairly quick compared to how long I've heard it's taken my friends, but it is only this one man by himself. So honestly, mad respect to him. Next time I'm at the market I'll be getting more pasta from him for sure.

Aroma Italia - Monserrat | Waikiki-Kapahulu-Diamond Head area - Island of Oahu…read more Onolicious! Lately I've been dining on soups like pho and ramen, lamb curry stews, and snacking on real fruit smoothies, and I felt like I needed a change of pace. However, I didn't realize I had this burning desire until I saw the foodie pics here on Yelp. It was then that I seriously wondered how I could inject a little more variety into my foodie repertoire. I saw this restaurant listed on Yelp and immediately thought, Ooh, what about Italian??? :D Myself replied: Mmm, that sounds tantalizing, Jules Y.! :D After perusing the menu to make sure I wasn't gonna miss out on a thing, it only took a few seconds for me to hone in on the two items I ultimately ordered: * 16" Florentine pizza (gigante) * Gnocchi Gorgonzola with added mushrooms I added mushrooms to the gnocchi dish, which was a fantastic decision I would not want to go without on future dines of this dish. The pizza was a thin crust topped with luscious mozzarella, rough-chopped garlic, spinach, and ricotta cheese. The gnocchi contained chicken chunks, potato gnocchi, luscious cream sauce, and the mushrooms I added. The Florentine immediately caught my eye. I'm particular about not eating sausage, pepperoni, and other typical pizza meats, so this cheese-and-spinach combination was exactly what I was looking for. I expected something around a medium-sized pizza, but what arrived was this unexpectedly large pie sitting inside a huge, flat pizza box. It seemed enormous! The crust was thin with a nicely fire-charred edge, while the center was packed with luscious cheesy goodness. Random dollops of ricotta, spinach leaves, and these entirely unexpected little chunks of fresh, soft, juicy garlic created little flavor explosions throughout every bite. It made eating the pizza fun because each slice was a little different. Although I thought I was hungry enough to eat a lion, I naturally stopped after only a couple of slices. That turned out to be a bonus because I had delicious leftovers for lunches and dinners over the next couple of days. The Gnocchi Gorgonzola was a different experience altogether. Tender potato gnocchi were coated in a thick, luscious cream sauce with chunks of chicken scattered throughout. The mushrooms I added were thinly sliced and blended in perfectly with the gnocchi, chicken, and creamy sauce. My only criticism is that the dish was saltier than I would have preferred. I think using about half as much salt would have allowed the flavors of the gnocchi and sauce to shine through even more. Aside from that, every bite was pleasantly chewy, rich, creamy, and satisfying. The sauce was everywhere--and that is definitely a good thing. Yum! These two dishes complemented each other perfectly because they offered completely different flavors and textures. The rich, cheesy Florentine pizza paired wonderfully with the creamy Gnocchi Gorgonzola. If I eat here again, I'll probably order these exact same dishes. If you enjoy Italian food as much as I do, I suspect you'll enjoy Aroma Italia's menu.

I think I would probably order it again but with the marinara sauce. The garlic bread with mozzarella cheese was good but I would order the regular garlic bread since it's less rich and would pair better with the entree. I think the garlic bread with mozzarella cheese would be great as an appetizer though. The ingredients on both the pasta and pizza were very generous. If I were to take friends out for Italian food I would bring them here.

Our service was led by Brandon who provided professional, friendly and insightful guidance to our party of six including our son a soon to be senior at University of Hawai'i at Mānoa as well as a recent UHM graduate. We ordered multiple specialty cocktails. All were delicious and unique. My mother-in-law was born in Italy and speaks it fluently as well as being an excellent chef, cater and loved the 7 layer lasagna! I split a Margherita shrimp pizza which was perfect from the thin chared crust, cheese and delicious shrimp. However, my wife's selected the pasta with at table side prepared cheese wheel and "lesson" conducted by Tim! Bravo! A must go to Italian restaurant in Oahu, Hawai'i. Enjoy!

Overall: Good food but not a comfortable environment to linger (details below)…read more Food: Pasta was perfectly cooked, al dente. Very rich and filling. Well-flavored. I enjoyed the pasta. Space: Crowded. We made a reservation so we got an indoor table. The sun was shining on us the entire time and it got uncomfortably hot. The window didn't seem to have a tint and the window shade gave little to no coverage in the spot we were at. It made me not want to make room for dessert. Service: Attentive. I liked the informational experience when the cacio e pepe is cooked in front of you. The only thing that bothered me was I wished one of the workers would wear a headband and wipe his sweat with a towel versus the back of his hands before handling plates and food. Price: Average price for a touristy neighborhood.

The noodles are like vermicelli-style egg noodles which surprised me at first but was very interesting and I grew to really like it. The Dungeness crab sauce was very light and delicious - Kampachi: 7/10, the fish was nice but sauce was too rich and a bit salty. Another downside is that it is the portion size is pretty small. With one shared appetizer and the main, I was still a bit hungry at the end of the night. For the price, I did expect there to be bigger portions.

Had the lilikoi mocktail - sweet and my husband liked it. The salad - liked the endive, watercress less so. Appreciated that not too heavily dressed. . Ono crudo new on menu - unusual bc on white bean puree and topped with olives. Tasted fine. Prosciutto - our favorite. Unusual with the sesame pocket, prosciutto thinly sliced and not too salty, the perfect pickles, plenty of shaved cheese. You make little pocket sandwiches and this made for a delish bite. Fois gras torchon - rich, nice sweet sauce, onion confit, on sourdough grilled bread. This can't not be good. Dan mien - liked the consistency of noodles silky and chewy. But sauce was overwhelmingly salty w lup cheong. I couldn't eat more than two bites. Our server was so solicitous and friendly and our water was never empty. The food pacing came out one at a time in perfect order and kept us from inhaling our food. Overall I'm glad we tried it and it's worth going to. Just not sure I'd be a regular here. For all of the above with tip was about $180.

We ordered the Repetti pizza and fettuccine with diavolo sauce and meatballs. We also had the Caesar salad and focaccia bread with marinara sauce. Our server was Grace. Grace was so friendly and knowledgeable and professional. In addition to the food, Grace made the dining experience exceptional. We sat outside and even though it was a very hot day, the temperature was very comfortable under the roofed area. The Pinot Grigio was excellent! Our meal was brought out in a timely manner and Grace was an attentive server. The Caesar dressing is perfection! The diavolo sauce was delicious and just-right spicy. We loved the meatballs and the fettuccine was cooked perfectly. The pizza!!!!! Wow. Just the right amount of crisp in the crust and the toppings were a delicious combination of flavors. The focaccia with marinara could have been a meal for me. The bread was hot and crispy while also being soft and savory. I couldn't get enough of the marinara. We had a lot of leftovers and ate some for dinner and still have more for tomorrow. Repetti's will be a new place for us to dine and bring friends as often as possible. We were so impressed and could not have wanted any of the experience to be different. Fantastic in every way!

My father and brother are both military veterans and enjoyed the fact that this venue was situated at a golf course they patronized before. We all ordered drinks--I ordered a bottle of wine, taking advantage of the Half-off Wine Wednesdays; some tried the alcohol specials and others simply elected to have soda. I ordered a few appetizers for the table and those went quickly: calamari, bruschetta, and artichoke dip. Yum! Main entrees followed and everyone seemed to enjoy their selections. We ordered dessert and were disappointed that they ran out of creme brulee...my father ordered the cheesecake and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only reason for not giving five stars has to do with the outdoor seating. I wish the chairs were more comfortable, as we sat there for awhile, waiting for our server to take our large group order along with waiting for food to come out. There is adequate parking and the restrooms are clean and accessible. An elevator is located in the lobby for those who are not able to easily climb the flight of stairs to the venue. I wish the signage was better, as my 74 year old father took the outside steps, as he thought that was the entrance, per signage downstairs.

I don't know how the elderly lady with walker was able to get up the stairs or they weren't able to dine there. I didn't mind this place. It's not like Assaggio, but more like Olive Garden. Food was okay but the view and ambience were nice, especially at Christmas at Night! It's a huge restaurant with seating for parties with a lot of free parking shared with the golfers at the golf course. Indoor and outdoor seating. The last time, my friends weren't too impressed, but we did try variety of dishes from pizza, salad, pasta and appetizers. They have some specials from time to time. So sad that tomorrow is their last day of business according to my friend. Sad to see many restaurants are closing soon.
