Mirada is a true hole in the wall... and that's the point. The atmosphere isn't classy, but you know Cô Hai is in the back running the show and telling everyone what to do. This is authentic, home cooked Vietnamese food. The kind your mom talked about when you were a kid and said, "We have food at home." Except now my 85 year old mom doesn't cook anymore, so I have to go find that feeling elsewhere. And this is it. Don't expect a big production. Maybe wipe your utensils first (we always do anyway). But do expect food that tastes like home. Real Viet comfort food. Go ahead and put one leg up on the chair like mama used to. You're home now and we don't judge.

This is hands down the best mom and pop spot for Vietnamese food in the city. My family and I come here at least two or three times a month, and it NEVER fails to hit the spot. At this point, we should honestly be shareholders for how often we eat here hahaha. The food is consistently delicious and authentically Vietnamese, from the flavors to the presentation. Every dish tastes homemade with so much care and quality. The service is also top notch, our server has been here for years and is always incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. If I could suggest one thing, it would be a rewards system, maybe a coupon after every five to seven visits or for every hundred dollars spent. It'd be such a smart customer loyalty move. But regardless, we'll definitely be back again this week LOLL.

My friend treated me to a lunch date here and I'm happy she did. I would not have known of this place as it's easily The dishes here remind of real down home cooking. Not fancy just solid and hearty.

Restaurant that specializes in Vietnamese homely comfort "com phan" dishes. They also serve Thai food. Because of this, the flavor profile of some of the Vietnamese dishes are influenced by Thai flavors (think sweet & sour). Ca Kho (braised catfish) 3.5/5 - Definitely on the sweeter side than what I'm used to. The filets are meaty and the sauce is a little watery. Typically the sauce would be on the thicker side to enhance the caramelized flavor. Decent dish and always a staple to order for Vietnamese comfort food. Canh Chua Ca (hot & sour catfish soup) 3.5/5 - Again, definitely on the sweeter side than how it's usually prepared. The soup is served in a large bowl instead of a hot pot. I do appreciate that there is a generous amount of catfish filets in the soup. Dip the fish in the chili fish sauce! Muc Xao Sate (Squid in Sate Sauce) 4/5 - Surprised by how much I enjoyed this! The squid is tender and the sauce is flavorful (with a lot of onions). Perfect dish to pair with the rice. Not much of an ambiance here; just your typical mom & pop shop. Service was that of a normal Vietnamese restaurant. Upside is they end your meal with dessert!

I've tried many places for Com Gia Dinh and this place hits the spot. Canh chua and Ca Kho Tho is a must for me. Ive tried a few other places and the canh chua and ca kho tho is not as flavorful as Mirada. I was practically drinking the soup from the bowl by the end of my meal. The portions are perfect as well for the two of us. Will be coming back soon to Mirada for some great food.

    Catfish from soup! Huge portion!

Food and service were great. The restaurant was small and packed! You know it's gonna be good! We were craving some comfort Vietnamese food and came here on a recommendation! We had thit kho to, rau muong xao & canh chua ca. Definitely hits the spot! Will have to come back for more dishes! They even gave us free dessert (Che) after our meals.

Not sure why the English name is Restaurant Miranda since they are a Vietnamese/Thai restaurant? This place is authentic (couldn't exist in Fountain Valley if it wasn't) and it looks like you better speak Vietnamese to eat here (although the servers do speak English) but the specialty dishes here are not my thing such as catfish. They do sell Thai dishes like Pad Thai but was told by friends who selected this place that it's best to stick to the Vietnamese dishes. The clay pot braised catfish, hot and sour soups, purple yam soup (didn't get), stir fried ong choy and shaken beef are the dishes that people come here for. So, find what sounds good to you on the Vietnamese Specialty Dishes section on the menu. After reviewing the menu closer, this would be a 4-star review if I got to order the food I liked (LOL). Check out the menu and my pics.

I love this restaurant. Even though they are quite busy, they always seat me right away. I am by myself Sunday 11-3-2024. The food I ordered were excellent, one of the waiters recognized from years ago, greeted me and served me with the menu very promptly. I appreciate the excellent service and the best Vietnamese traditional food . Really enjoyed my lunch

This is authentic Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered : Hot and Sour soup with taro stem catfish . Braised catfish in the clay pot , Crispy tofu , lemongrass chicken, stir fried Ong choy with garlic . Food was just okay , a little sweet for my taste . The portion size very little for the price. Everything we had to ordered 2-3 dishes but we're still hungry, bad service and you have to pay attention to your bill to make sure that they add up right! .

Wow, surprisingly very very good! It's a hole in the wall, and definitely a low key spot that is popular amongst the older folks. Comfort food Family style dining. We ordered the braised catfish in clay pot and the "Dinner for 4" for $48.95 that included - seafood tom yum soup, fried fish with sweet and sour dip, sweet and sour pork, stir-fried chicken chili and garlic mint, and stir-fried vegetables. What a deal! Enjoyed everything we ordered. Every dish was so flavorful. Such a great find! They even served some hot mung beans with tapioca dessert at the end of our meal. We came around 6pm and it was really busy. There was a line outside with a waiting list by the time we were finished with our meal. They close at 7:30pm so be sure to arrive before the dinner rush. Will definitely come back again soon!

We chose Quán Hỷ over some of the other popular spots because the reviews said the food had more flavor and the fried mochi layer was thinner. The bánh ít ram had really good flavor and was definitely worth trying. However, the fried mochi pieces were not consistent. Some were thicker, while others were thinner. They were also fried unevenly. A few had a nice crunch, but others could have been cooked longer. Overall, I think they ALL would have been even better with a more golden and crispy exterior. The bánh canh tôm cua reminded me of súp măng cua, so I enjoyed it. The broth was flavorful, and I personally love thick noodles. I have not tried enough versions of bánh canh to say exactly how it compares traditionally, but I liked this one more than another spot I previously tried. The bánh bèo also had a lot of flavor, and I liked that they were not too thick. I just wish they came with some chicharrones or another crunchy topping for more texture. Overall, the food was flavorful, and we would definitely return. Unfortunately, the share plates we received were not properly cleaned and still had food residue on them. We ended up cleaning them ourselves because it was difficult to flag someone down. The staff members were very nice whenever we interacted with them, but the service was not very attentive.

It's not super strong coffee or super strong coconut juice, so it's nice combination where they adjusted it perfectly. The beignets are just so good, soft, with good texture and kind of like a donut. I can probably eat 12 easily. It's got powdered sugar on top. It can get busy here, so come here during off peak time is highly recommended! Bakeries alone is worth your time here in my opinion!

The restaurant is located in a busy plaza, and the parking lot is shared with several other businesses, so finding a parking space can be difficult. Location and Parking -- 2/5 The location is convenient, but parking can be challenging because many businesses share the same parking lot. Atmosphere and Comfort -- 2/5 The air-conditioning was weak, and the front door remained open, so the restaurant felt warmer than expected. Service -- 3/5 The service was only okay. The waiters were not especially friendly or welcoming. Food -- 2/5 I ordered the mì vịt tiềm. As everyone can see from my picture, my bowl came with only one small piece of bok choy. In comparison, pictures posted by other customers show the same dish served with several pieces of fresh vegetables. The noodles were okay but much too oily. The broth served on the side was not hot enough, and the duck was dry and tough instead of tender. The pickled vegetables were also too sour. Restaurants can change over time. Based on the difference between my meal and the meals shown in other customers' pictures, the portions and food quality appear to be inconsistent and declining. Cleanliness -- 2/5 The dining area was acceptable, but the restroom needed more attention and cleaning. Overall -- 2/5 Stars Overall, our experience was below average. Hue Ky Mi Gia may be worth trying once if you want something different, but the food, service, comfort, and cleanliness all need improvement.
