Had dinner here before a show at the Beacon Theater. The menu is pretty limited. If you request the free tap water, you get a carafe at room temperture. We started with the mushroom hummus, which was the only dip on the app menu. It was ok. My wife had the roasted salmon over farro, and she enjoyed it. My entrée was the lamb shwarma terracotta. The presentation was very nice, and it was a generous portion. It tasted good, but kind of one-note harissa, not spicy enough, and it could've used some salt and pepper. It was also supposed to have sliced almonds in it, but I didn't see any. The server was great, very attentive. The food was probably good enough to return, but it is very noisy inside. My wife and I converse in a normal voice at the table, but other people are so loud. We were seated for nearly 1-1/2 hrs, and my head was ringing when we left. read more

Unusually busy on a Friday afternoon (likely because of graduation celebrations), we generally enjoyed our meal at Miriam, once it was served...though a bit of a cold spring day (and the outdoor heaters were already off for the season), we sat outside for a quicker seating, which unfortunately seemed to lead to slow, slightly confused service. We had to go inside to ask for someone to take our order after almost half an hour had passed. Once received, the Israeli Breakfast was delicious--especially loved the labneh and Israeli salad, which was perfectly seasoned. The Lamb Shawarma had great flavor, though the diner that received it wondered why he received half a pita bread, instead of a full pita, like came with the Israeli Breakfast. Disappointing and overpriced. I tried a three dip combination (beets, pumpkin, eggplant), focaccia, and the plant based steak. I liked the eggplant dip and the focaccia, but the plant based steak really wasn't great - strange texture and almost soaking wet. The potatoes on the side seemed dry, and the vegetables on the side are grilled simply without much seasoning. My portion of the bill came out to over $60, which is painfully expensive. Very cute place! It had nice decor and a relaxed vibe, and the service was great. We had a few dips and the oyster mushrooms to start. The dips were good, but the amount they gave us was very small for the price. The oyster mushrooms were awesome. We shared the fish in parchment and fish cakes for entrees. The fish in parchment had great flavor, wish it has some more veggies. The fish cakes were good but not great, and again small for the price. A friend and I stopped by to get a snack last night and wound up getting a few dishes. They were very busy around 6:00, but the bar had lots of seating. We had the sticky lamb ribs, roasted cauliflower and warm pita with hummus. The lamb ribs were our hands down favourite: the glaze was so good! There were only two: we wouldn't have minded a larger portion. The roasted cauliflower was good and had a really flavourful sauce accompanying it. The only thing that was a disappointment was the hummus. It was runny and it seemed like canned beans were just poured on top. I'll definitely return to try other items on the menu. read more

First of all, the fact that we went on New Year's Eve and were there from 7pm until almost 9pm and the restaurant was packed, the noise level was lower than most dinner options in the West Village and it was a rare treat! The food was fabulous, service excellent and the vibe was cool, simple, airy and just nice. The bar up front was equally packed and the noise didn't travel from there to the dining room in the rear. The dinner choices were easy and, another very nice treat was, the "New Year's Eve Menu" was not forced on us- we were able to choose from the regular menu. High-end Mediterranean restaurant around the corner from the Beacon Theatre. On a weekend evening it was packed - so much so that you wouldn't be seated without a reservation. Bar seating was still available though. They were so incredibly busy it took the bartenders quite a while to get to each person and even longer to get the food/drinks you ordered afterwards. But they were apologetic for the wait without prompting which was nice. All smooth lines with a modern touch in terms of ambiance. Nicely done if expensive cocktails - the lavender at $19 was beautiful and artfully crafted but quite pricey. Dipping plate comes with 3 extremely tasty dips (a tomato based, sour cream and hummus?). And a few pieces of a crispy flat bread. Thought the bread that came with it was kind of subpar - and also not nearly enough for how much dip they give you. If you order extra bread they will charge you $2 for a pita-like loaf which is much tastier but one large piece instead of multiple pieces. read more

Moved out of nyc and Miriam is always top of our list to visit when back in the city. Tonight's meal did not live up to its historic reputation, however. The new spring dinner menu was not nearly what it used to be and there were very bizarre flavor choices for an Israeli restaurant. The lamb short ribs were delish but tasted like Chinese short rib flavoring, and the Moroccan cigars lacked any cheese flavor and had a very strong spice that overpowered the dish, and was complemented by a mango dipping sauce (again, not traditional Israeli flavoring). The branzio was excellent! Although we missed a previously signature menu item that's no longer available, the Black Sea bass in parchment paper. Hoping they go back to their old menu, which was MUCH better. read more

I'm getting it. This one was served in a hot skillet, with the sugary sauce on the side, and fresh pistachio ice cream with pistachios on top. Yummmm. Piping hot and so good with the ice cream. Ate here with my daughter last night prior to catching Jackson Browne at the Beacon Theatre. We had lunch a bit late and we looking for something relatively light to get us through the show. On our way to Sweetgreen to get salads we wandered past Miriam. Even though we didn't have a reservation, we decided to give it a shot. We were greeted warmly by the host and another person who appeared to be the manager when we entered. They checked if we had reservation, and of course we didn't, so I figured we were toast. He graciously offered us a table but let us know they needed it at 7:00 which gave us an hour to finish. That was perfect for us as we had to get around the corner for the show at 7:00 PM (doors open). Excellent management and customer service! He didn't make us feel bad/foolish for not having reservations while clearly defining their needs at the same time. The place was packed and had an upbeat energy/vibe. The food soon told us why it was a packed house. Our waiter was friendly and very attentive which helped us ensure we were able to eat and be on our way promptly. We did not feel rushed at any time though despite the time limits offered with the table. My daughter ordered the Summer Watermelon Salad and I ordered the Mediterranean Salad with Chicken added. The salads were both totally over the top. Just incredible in the quality of the ingredients (very fresh) and the presentation. Exactly the high quality that I was hoping for given the location and appearance of the restaurant. The side of chicken was perfectly grilled and had great flavor which enhanced the salad. The portion of chicken was plenty to have supported an add-on to two salads. My daughter is a vegetarian so I finished it all by myself. While we weren't planning on dessert when we entered, the salads got us primed for something delicious to wrap up before heading out. We got the raspberry crumble cheesecake which was phenomenal. Not anything like what most would expect from a NYC cheesecake like you'd get at Juniors, but in a good way! The raspberry sauce was divine and the cheesecake was delicious. Probably the best raspberry cheesecake that I've ever tasted and I've had lots of cheesecakes . I really enjoyed the "crumble" style of this dessert. Highly, highly recommended. I need to get back here with my wife as I know she'd love it. I'll make sure to have a reservation next time, and I appreciate the flexibility/skill of the manager to accommodate us, and the professional way he delivered the solution to us. Recently had an early impromptu dinner with my daughter on Thursday evening . We were graciously welcomed even though we had not an invitation . We ordered the tzatziki app along with a baby kale salad and chicken shish kabob. The salad was fresh and delicious as was the Tzatziki. The place to go if you're starting your evening with a meal before your Beacon Theater show. It is cute, staff is accommodating and friendly, drinks are wonderful, and food is delicious.. oh and it is literally RIGHT next door to the venue, which was such a great surprise. I came back to Miriam for brunch on a Saturday around 2pm with my boyfriend. We didn't have a reservation since they don't take them for brunch but were able to get seated almost immediately outside (we requested this since it was a beautiful day!) It was my first time sitting in the patio area and it was very nice. It has lots of greens/flowers and cute lights plus a nice view of the street for that ~people watching ambiance~ and spring energy. Our server came by to ask for our drink orders and my boyfriend got a glass of Prosecco which he enjoyed. For food we split: Israeli Breakfast: we got this with scrambled egg whites which were so flavorful and were clearly cooked with some high quality olive oil. It comes with a generous portion of creamy, thick, and tangy labneh, a refreshing Israeli salad with tomatoes and cucumbers, fluffy pita, and these delectable potatoes with grilled onions that were perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside... I don't even like potatoes that much but these were amazing! Portion size was great and all the ingredients were very high quality. Good entree to get if you want some variety. Norwegian Eggs: this dish was so amazing! I can't believe it took me so long to try it. Perfectly poached eggs over this flavorful and flaky zucchini pancake, topped with fresh smoked salmon, and a little bit of yogurt. The silky egg yolks perfectly complemented the mildly sweet zucchini pancake and the salmon added a nice umami kick. There was also a little bit of spice from the harissa which was dampened down by the yogurt. Truly beautiful. Comes with a nice side of leafy greens salad and delicious potatoes (as above). Will definitely order this again! Challah French Toast: one of my favorites here and always hits the spot. Delicious challah that's perfectly grilled with hints of cinnamon, sweetened with some syrup and halva shavings. Really nice presentation! Order this! Aside their amazing food, I would like to give a shout-out for the great service. We had asked for the French toast as dessert and our server forgot to put the order in originally but he got us two complimentary mimosas for the extra wait (which was only around 20 minutes so it wasn't necessary but it was truly appreciated!) This is a great Israeli restaurant. It isn't kosher but it has a great selection of wonderful breakfast choices like Shakshuka, Mediterranean Crispy Dough served with two eggs, crushed tomatoes and spicy harissa. You could also get Challah French Toast or Miriam's Pancakes: chocolate chip, berries or plain! I decided to try their Lamb Shawarma and a side order of their Crispy Bread! Wow! Was this delicious?
