5 star food in a 2 star location. North side of the 15 near Yermo (Minneola exit behind the Shell gas station). I've been past this place a few times and saw CHP cars one time -- always a good sign. Cops talk to each other and know all the good food places. 1st visit, coming back from Vegas, power was out and the place was closed. Bummer. 2nd visit, again coming back from Vegas this time with my son, they were open! Unfortunately the meat selection was limited to the al pastor, lingua (beef tongue) and cabeza (meat pieces off the cow skull). Sooo, being our 1st time, we stuck to the al pastor burrito. It was 'oh my goodness' delicious! The flour tortilla seemed home made and the meat was savory with guacomole, chunks of yellow and orange bell pepper, jalapeno and pineapple. I don't like pineapple except for dessert but this worked! Really well. The fresh salsa was spicy, chunky, and awesome. I couldn't stop talking about the trailor-trash place with gourmet Mexican food all the way back to LA. 3rd visit, going solo on the way to Laughlin (I know, the 40 cuts off in Barstow but the exit (Minneola) hooks up with the 40 going south -- maybe a 10 minute detour), and I wasn't gonna miss another chance at this place. This time I got the carne asada burrito. Savory chunks of beef with onions, peppers and guac in the same great tortilla. No pineapple this time and the fresh lime made it epic. 4th visit, solo again on the way back from Laughlin (hehe), I went for the tacos. The chicken were 'street' style in yellow corn tortillas with the guac and onions...I've not had better. If you are coming here for the 1st time and not too sure what to get; this would be your ticket. You can thank me later. The asada tacos were a bit plain after the outstanding chicken tacos. Maybe I was getting a bit full by then but I also got the 'veggie' taco. I had to. The picture on the outside window had my curiosity peaked. It came with nopales (cactus), cheese, onion, bell peppers and mushrooms and pineapple chunks. It was good, very good. Food was good. I liked the jalapeño fried on cheese, that came with the 3 tacos. If you can get over the smell that is in the restaurant (gas station bathroom odor) then by all means, give it a try. Have stopped here a many times on my travels back and forth. There are a large amount of Tesla chargers in the shared lot. Half the time the restaurant is closed at the oddest hours. Tacos are so so, prices are a bit much for Mexican food. Especially the aguafrescas at $11. They have several flavors listed on the menu but you're lucky if they have 2 or 3 on hand. The girls behind the counter are not overly friendly nor is the overall customer service up to par. With the location you'd think they would be busy but nope. It's a real bummer! read more

This place is terrible. We stopped here to charge our Tesla. Went inside to use the bathroom. The lady at the counter was very rude and stated. The bathroom code is on the receipt. We ordered a $5 coffee, which tasted old. Finally, I got the code and used the restroom. There was only 1 stall available and a urinal that was broken. Jesus Christ! I really hope the business owner reads these reviews. People are willing to spend money here, but please be more friendly to your guests and have a bathroom that works. My husband and another woman were trying to figure out if it was open because the doors were locked but there was a worker standing around doing nothing in front of the cashier. The worker saw my husband but proceeded to ignore him and walk away. I called the restaurant 4 times to verify their hours but no one bothered to pick up. Bathroom was dirty and the dryer for hands was disconnected. Didn't work or had napkins . Over all place needs to sale what's in the menus and allowed people to buy what they want not force people into a burrito or more than 1 taco if all they want is one taco. Is in the menu. We ordered Carne asada nachos, asada fries and an asada quesadilla. Service was very friendly and you can tell the food was made to order by the rustling in the back kitchen. My food was ready to go in less than 10 minutes. My husband always judges a new place by their quesadilas and he was very happy with his. Stopped there a few months to get some juice for the Tesla, hoping it would be a better experience than the supercharger at Baker (adjacent business restrooms overwhelmed, etc)., and relying on the review provided by the Tesla trip planner. DO NOT trust the Tesla reviews. This place SUCKS! The 1 restroom was AFU, and after waiting for 30 minutes, at least, after ordering 3 tacos my wife was so hangry she wanted to leave without our food. Between Baker in Barstow in Yermo California. Solid place in an older burger joint building The signage outside of the place really grabs your attention. Very flashy. Ordered a Carne Asada burrito. Seasoned well. A little dry in the inside- meat, rice, onions and cilantro. I've had terrible burritos in great parts of LA so this was a nice surprise in the middle of nowhere. Came with a side of red hot sauce that was pretty good as well. I wouldn't drive all the way to Yermo California for this place but if you want authentic Mexican food in the middle of nowhere, sure why not?
