On Christmas came out for lunch with family. Everything is closed except Miso ramen. I'm so glad they are open. It is busy when we have entered. We had a warm welcome from the person working there. We are very new to ramen so we have asked him, he suggested us Chashu ramen, Kalbi and for kids chicken ramen which one is not spicy, everything is very good. Restaurant ambiance is so nice with very dim lights and very nice pleasant music. An okay place for Ramen in JC. I actually was interested in getting the Mushroom Ramen with chicken broth, but they said that wasn't available and the only vegetarian broth option was the vegetarian ramen. It was decent- definitely more flavorful with the spices and sauces we added on top. They had a jalapeño based sauce (it was surprising because I was not expecting it) that was really delicious to add on top. I do wish the tofu had been cooked in some way, although it wasn't too bad. I was debating between pork and chicken, but because of the waiter's recommendation I went with chicken. The broth was rich, velvety and had good flavor without being overly salty. Fortunately, there wasn't much of a crowd and I was able to snag a seat at the bar. The vibe at Miso Ramen is lounge-meets-industrial chic, with a low-key soundtrack (setting a relaxed mood without distracting from conversation...or food). I got my order in right away: marbled pork bun appetizer, chasu ramen, green tea. The pork bun appetizer came as two sizable baos, the buns light and fluffy, stuffed with a small piece of luscious pork fried crispy with a swipe of zippy Japanese mayo. It could've used a more assertive sauce but the texture was fantastic. The ramen was a nice, big bowl of noodles, roasted pork, bamboo shoots, soft-boiled egg and sesame in a tonkotsu broth. The noodles were fresh, the meat had the kind of roasty punch you expect from good char siu, and the broth savory and...er...porky. It didn't pack much depth, though, and took several shakes from the bottle of shichimi (a peppery spice blend) to get things rolling. I don't eat ramen anymore but the gyoza was legit ramen joint gyoza. Lightly crispy on the outside, juicy pork stuffing on the inside. Came with gyoza sauce and what appeared to be garlic oil for dipping. We also had hamachi Kama (a little burned) and ohitashi (boiled spinach side dish), both not bad. The other appetizers we had were more Taiwanese style - pig ear with soy sauce (a little sweet), scallion pancakes (pretty good). I tried the broth in the pork ramen my friend ordered. It was super rich. Owner said they cook it over 18 hours. Service was really good. Owner was super nice and went out of his way to make sure we had everything in order. Great experience. It's also nice that you don't have to travel into NYC for some high quality ramen. To start we ordered the pork buns which is always a must no matter where you go. For my main, I ordered the oxtail ramen soup. This soup is hearty and packed with so much flavor. An absolute must for those cold winter evenings. I came in hungry and left beyond stuffed. Our server was also very friendly and one of the managers (possibly the owner) chatted with us for a while. The ramen here definitely hits the spot. Nice ramen, flavorful broth and choc full of the the ingredient of your choosing be it pork, chicken, tofu or a specialty like I chose - Ox tail. It was quite good, a fair amount considering how Ox tail isn't cheap. It runs about the same price as any specialty ramen. My one complaint about the menu is everything (as in the ramen) has mushrooms in it! Why? I hate mushrooms but even more so, what if I happen to be allergic? Granted they did remove the mushrooms when I asked but does this add a special flavor to the dish? The food was great otherwise. The gyoza appetizer was very nice as was the sauce that came with it and plenty to share. The free scallion pancake is nice but a little greasy. I had been waiting eagerly for this place to open for many months and it was finally time to try it. We arrived around 7pm on a weeknight and there was still space available. However, one member of our party was running late so we had to put our name down as they would not seat us until everyone was there. The host at the door was very attentive although he had to ask repeatedly how many were in our group and when they would be there. It was nice to have so much attention but also a bit repetitive. So we were finally seated around 8 when all 3 of us were there. I really like the decor of the place, it has a lot of nice features and plants. The menu is not huge but has the basic ramen and Japanese apps. They even have pics for each dish on the menu which I thought was a little tacky but cute too. For dinner we ordered the pork gyoza which was one of the best I ever had! It comes with a crispy Parmesan crust! Definitely try it. For my entree I had the pork ramen with miso broth. There are actually two different pork ramens, one with belly and one that is marbled, which I had. First of all the meat was delicious! Some of the best pork I've had. I also really liked the soft boiled egg in soy and the broth was pretty nice. Unfortunately I was a bit let down by the noodles. They seemed like they were a bit underdone, kind of chewy. There also could have been more broth to noodle ratio. The service was very quick although I think they were trying to get us out quickly as they kept asking if we were ready to pay instead of waiting until we were actually ready to go. Watching K-drama has always made me crave for Ramen and I was happy to find this spot almost ten minutes away from my place. Miso ramen is a a nice BYOB restaurant with lovely interiors. The menu has so many options but since this was my first time and to be on the safe side, I ordered the Chicken Ramen bowl. My husband got the pork ramen. Both of them tasted really good and its actually so filling! The only thing I didnt prefer was how they got the chicken pieces separately on a sideplate. I've always found it essential to have a reliable neighborhood ramen joint, and I'm happy that for me this is now it! Michael F and I have been here twice, and both times, both food and service have been good. The first time, we tried the crispy chicken buns, followed by Takana and Chashu Ramen. The second time, we coincidentally got these same ramen bowls, but with the shrimp and pork shu mai as an appetizer. From an appetizer standpoint, I really enjoyed the crispy chicken buns. The shu mai were very nicely sized and portioned, but tasted a bit dough-y, as if they used imitation crab instead of actual shrimp and pork. The ramen bowls were very good - with thick and flavorful broth that stayed hot for a while. Toppings that came with the bowls included marinated bamboo shoots, scallions, and half of a marinated boiled egg. The noodles are a bit thicker than average, and start out slightly al dente, softening gradually as you make your way through the bowl. The pricing is slightly higher than expected, but portioning and quality are good, and when combined with good service, convenient hours, and a clean dining space, this place is altogether a pretty decent lunch/dinner option. read more

Since I went to a dentist close by, I stopped by this shop for late lunch. I ordered "crispy salmon bun" and "chashu ramen". "Crispy salmon bun" was disappointing as somebody mentioned in her review. Bun and mayo sauce were fresh and tasty, but main thing "crispy salmon" were so tiny inside buns. The size was actually 2 inches length X 1 inch width, so small. They should put decent size of main thing if they charge $8. The ramen was OK but I didn't like the noodles. They were a little undercooked to me and too thick for ramen noodles. They were more like chanpon noodles if you are familiar. Toppings were underwhelming too. Just 3 slices of chashu for chashu noodles??? Really??? Plus just a half egg and one slice of bamboo for $13??? Maybe it is OK in the states because most people here don't know what/how "real" ramen noodles taste/cost in Japan. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. I've been to almost every Ramen spot in Manhattan and they are not up to par with this place. You truly have to have a appreciate every little detail when it comes to their ramen. Their broth is EXCEPTIONAL. I never leave the bowl empty. Their broth has so much depth and flavor, you can tell that the broth was made for hours, low & slow. Their noodles are made fresh all throughout the day and has a great al dente bite to it. They are very generous with their portions unlike in the city. They also have vegetarian options. This has quickly become my favorite ramen place in New Jersey! For my first visit, my boyfriend and I were en route to Jersey City to try Ani Ramen when we realized we weren't going to make it in time before they closed for a few hours. Since my boyfriend knows the area, he mentioned this place so we tried it out. I went for the spicy option and tried the Wild Pepper Spicy while my boyfriend opted for the Seafood ramen. I loved the crispiness of them but, wished their was a sauce to go with them since they appeared a little dry without anything. We moved onto the entrees where I ordered Wild Pepper Spicy ramen as usual. My boyfriend tried the seafood ramen with a piece of chashu pork. We left feeling full and satisfied. On my third visit, I was able to introduce a friend to the cuisine and was thrilled that she enjoyed it! During this outing, I opted for the oxtail ramen instead of my usual Wild Pepper Spicy ramen. The switch did not disappoint. I did add a bit of the spicy seasoning provided on the table and I do think it was needed. I'm used to always getting a spicy ramen and loving the abundance of flavor that I find more traditional pork or beef broths lack. What I did love was that the oxtail meat was deliciously tender. The mushrooms I found swimming in the broth were tender as well. I ordered the delicious pork gyoza and it was as tasty as usual. My friend wanted to start simple but, I informed her that the spicy broth would be an excellent starting point. She loved the dish and left the restaurant satisfied and with leftovers. I'm so glad I got to try the oxtail and try something different than I usually gravitate towards. Another major selling point of this restaurant is the amazing staff and excellent service.
