I've only had Turkish food twice in my life, last weekend and today. I was in town for the Niners/Seachicken game and I wanted to eat something that would keep me full all day. I ordered the beef tantuni sandwich. I quickly found a spot to eat at pikes place and sat down to enjoy it. The bread was crunchy where it needed to be crunchy and soft where it needed to be soft. It was juicy and also had a sauce to it, as well as have an additional sauce to pour on it while I ate. The meat was seasoned very very well and even had a kick to it that I wasn't expecting. Came here today after grabbing something at Pike Place Market. It's right by the front of the Market making it a very convenient location if you're around there. I wouldn't call it a hole in the wall, but it's a small place. There are 4-5 booths that could seat 3-4 people and not a lot of other space than that. The friendly cashier greeted me and took my order right when I walked in. It was a little after 5 and the place was empty when I got there so I decided to dine in. I got the beef pide (pronounced pee-deh as the shop lady told me). I've never had Turkish food or pide before so I didn't know what to expect. Not too long after I ordered it came out on a wood serving plate which looked pretty nice. My experience here with Pide is that it's functionally like a flatbread but better. What's better about it is that the crust is a lot more firm and robust making it easier to pick up and handle. Despite that it's still very thin, light, and crunchy making it a satisfying bite. Overall I really enjoyed it and it was easy to eat without too much mess. It had fresh ingredients and was just baked. I ate the whole thing myself and it was super filling and satisfying. I would recommend if you come as a group that you do family style here as there looked like other interesting menu items I didn't get to try. While I was eating, the place started to fill up a little more. It's a quiet calm atmosphere which I appreciate. There was some what I assume to be Turkish tunes playing at a low volume. I could hear people chatting in Turkish (I think) in the kitchen which confirms to me that this place is pretty authentic and, as other reviews have mentioned, a family affair, which is always cool. We walked in and ordered a Chicken Pide and Kunefe. The lady was a making a fresh batch of Kunefe! The chicken pida was kind of like an American flatbread but shaped like a boat! It was sooo good and the best part about it, it was fresh! The second day, we decided to go back for more because we needed something quick before the airport but also something we would enjoy. This restaurant is a super casual place right near Pike Place with outdoor seating as well. They mainly serve Turkish foods so we tried the pide/Turkish pizza and their Turkish coffee. At it's price point, I would choose it over most any other "pizza" style food. The Turkish coffee also paired surprisingly well since the coffee was creamy but still not too heavy. However, for those with teeth sensitivity or an aversion for a strong coffee flavor, it may be a bit too intense since the actual coffee grounds are included within the drink itself for Turkish-style coffee. This spot was good up until recently. The new employee here does not know how to cook. I dealt with him twice, both relating to shakshuka. The first time, he cooked it by breaking the egg and thoroughly scrambling it into the tomato sauce. After I returned the dish and explained that it is not what a shakshuka is, he fried two more eggs sunny side up and proceeded to put them on the dish I had just returned, claiming that I now got more than what I had paid for because the dish had 4 eggs instead of 2. He finally learned how to make it the right way after the owner showed up. The second time, I ordered the same thing, but he still has not learned. The eggs are completely raw. The lahmacun is a dish I really enjoy and the offering here was as good as I've had anywhere. It was accompanied with lemons, raw red onions, tomatoes and I would assume basil. The shakshuka was delicious. Full of cheese, beef, and eggs and freshly baked Turkish bread. The shakshouka was served with a mixed olive lettuce salad and vinaigrette dressing. It was a great pairing. The dressing had a hint of sweetness and paired well with the delicious pickled olives. There was like 6 olives of 3 different types in my salad. They have a solid Pide menu, which is the Turkish pizza in the shape of a football. I had the vegan pizza, which I thought was very tasty especially with the optional yogurt sauce. I do wish it was more crispy; maybe they did brown it more to avoid burning the veggies. The Beyti Kebab arrived piping hot in the blue ceramic dish. The skewers are already cut into disks/cylinders and covered in sauce. Eat fast and enjoy it half burning your mouth, in a good way. For more veggies, got a salad too. Basic, all veggies, with a light dressing, much better than the overly-souped-up American style ones. (Sorry, I'm not a fan of chips and sprinkles of sorts on salads.) Lastly, ordering a Kunefe is a must. Your best timing to place the order is when your main courses arrive. It takes a while to make it. It's such a delicious treat! read more

Bumping up Miss Cafe for their gracious attitude and not pointing fingers. ------ Miss Cafe is one of the only spots in the area open late. Went in and ordered a meal to go and was met with fast service. Super excited to dig into my meal when, of course, they didn't pack any utensils in the bag.... You'd think a to go order in a tourist area would be a no brainer on needing utensils, but maybe it was end of day brain fog. After fashioning some chopsticks out of coffee stirrers in my hotel, I am pleased to report the food was good! I got the lamb plate and it was tender as hell. The place inside is sweltering, and so that is why we took a spot outside. They have a lot of options but are limited to vegetarian ones. You can ask them to make any option into a veggie one, but I don't think it would be the same taste. They have a fridge with some drinks (no alcohol). Most of the drinks are the classic Coke, Water, Juice, etc. but they have traditional Turkish ones too! They were something to match with the meals. We ordered the Veggie and Chicken Pide and the Lahmacun. All three dishes were a solid 5/5. They were straight from the oven, and you could feel the freshness in the taste. The cheese was just right, and all the veggies complemented the Pide. The dipping sauce was a hit too! I ordered a lot of them. This review is specifically for my Uber takeout food experience at this restaurant. Besides the fact that the food arrived cold (we waited for 2 hours but I know it's not their fault) the quality of the food was underwhelming. I've had a couple of amazing Turkish food experiences in NY and so when I compared this to the Turkish food I'm usually having, it was disappointing. The food was quite dry and did not taste fresh to me. The breading tasted stale and overall, and a bit hard to chew. The portions were also smaller than we imagined. The highlight was the baklava..it was perfect. Maybe I'll have to check out this place again in person, maybe this was just a bad experience. I was pretty excited to try this place but I left slightly disappointed as it was just average for me. It's a small restaurant near pikes place with around 4 tables inside and a couple outside. It looks like they make to order as they told us our order would take around 15-20 minutes. We ordered the lamacun and the kebab dish. Both dishes, the flavor was good, but nothing really stood out. The lamacun was similar to a pizza but thinner, and no cheese and softer. The kebab dish was interesting as it was meat wrapped in like a roll with yogurt sauce. For some reason both dishes tasted very similar. Both also came with a salad which was probably my favorite thing as it was slightly sweet and refreshing. Overall, it was ok.
