So my friend found this place and was excited to try it. We went during my lunch hour. The place looks like a small hole in the wall kind of vibe. It is all vegan. We looked over the menu and I ended up choosing the lunch special with a bean and pupusa. My friend with the same thing but went with a half veggie burger. We also got a cinnamon roll, cherry cupcake thing, the truffle sauce, black tea and coffee. It took longer than anticipated to get our food. Mind you I saw only one person tending to everything in the front. People were coming in and asking for things and I felt bad for him. He was extremely nice. My review is not based on his service. The food itself was a little disappointing. My friend said the bun on his burger was extremely stiff and his burger patty was cold in several places. The soup itself was very earthy (mushroom and wild rice) and bland. The pupusa was okay nothing special. You can tell that everything is fresh and natural. However it does lack a lot of seasoning. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back but definitely try for yourself and decide. They do have great costumer service. read more

This is my favorite vegan bakery in San Antonio. There is a great variety of baked goods. Im a sucker of a vegan cinnamon roll and these are PERFECT. great sweet treat! I need to stop by more often!! I usually go to brevity (coffee shop) in the mornings and get a chocolate hazelnut croissant with it. The croissant is from this place and I would have never guessed it was vegan they are amazing, highly recommend them heated up. I came here to see if there were other treats and ordered the oatmeal crème pie and amazing I'm fighting myself to eat the full thing. I also got this sweet potato cheesecake thing and OMG. Being on my go to list for awhile, I finally got to check out this place recently with friends. They have two locations - one being a bake shop and this one- a combo bakery/lunch. Walking in , my eyes immediately went straight to their display cases filled with all kinds of scrumptious baked goods. Baked vegan goods made only with organic ingredients. Being dairy free, this place called my name. The employee behind the counter was friendly and patient answering our questions regarding each bakery item. They ordered cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, and a muffin, and I ordered a variety of popovers. What stood out in my mind out of all we sampled? ....the lemon blueberry muffin. Lots of great lemon flavor and fresh blueberries. The popovers were ok- I sampled peach, cherry pineapple, lemon blueberry, and maple brown sugar. She heated up the peach for me, but the edges became hard and overcooked. The lemon blueberry popover was nice- it had a good amount of filling, but the popover edges were too thick and crunchy for my liking. I also ordered a chai latte with almond milk- the tea came caffeine free, which I love. She offered agave for sweetness, I declined, but should have said yes. Great vegan options. Our son has a dairy allergy which means he usually doesn't get treats at bake shops etc. we make a special trip here every now and then to go pick some out, wrap them and store in the freezer for him. The treats are delicious, and our whole family enjoys them. read more

I stopped by after going to Subway to get something sweet and I got a couple little different things I got the rebel bar I got this like caramel bar and a concha. Everything was very delicious, but threw it through. My favorite thing was the caramel peanut like snicker rendition thing it was amazing it tasted, absolutely amazing. I will definitely be going back for that. I love that it's vegan. There's no animals hurt in the making of these products thecafé is very cute. It's sweet it's quiet in there. You can definitely work in there if you want to but it's adorable so you can bring some kids if you want to see the color it's just all on the Gray atmosphere. Came is for the first time while visiting the area, and ordered a full Caesar salad to go for lunch. Portion was large. I was a little suspect about the dressing, but it ended up being perfect once mixed in. I also got a lemon blueberry pop tart, and 2 day old donuts (the chocolate with rainbow sprinkles, and strawberry with rainbow sprinkles). Omni husband ended up ordering a sticky bun. Found Miss Chickpeas at the Fall Market! I've been wanting to try their vegan pastries. Their booth featured Muffin the pup and an array of sweet and savory pastries. I got 2 savory laminated dough pastries--ham and cheese croissants and a tomato danish. Both were divine. Also bought a mixed berry pop tart. It was the perfect pop tart for me. The dough was tasty as was the filling. I liked how fruity the icing was. Ash kindly also gave me some sample pop tarts: pumpkin fig and strawberry. My neighbor ate the strawberry and I ate the pumpkin. My little belly is stuffed but very happy several days later. I passed by this cafe a couple weeks ago and it sparked my interest! It's very cutesy from the outside and it looked like a great place for breakfast, lunch, or a little treat! I was back in the area and it was lunch time so I decided to pop on in and see what it was all about! The inside is cute, lots of pink, plants, and decor. They have baked pastries and also have a menu where you can order other food! There's small tables for seating. I ordered a bean and cheese pupusa. I did wait 15-20 minutes which seemed like a long wait for a casual lunch spot that wasn't very crowded, but it came out fresh!! It came with pickled cabbage and plantain chips too which hit the spot and was only $4.75! I didn't try any of their pastries, but they looked good!! Next time I'm back, I'd try a coffee or smoothie too. They also had other soups, salad, and sandwiches that caught my eye. The vibes are pretty relaxed, but there was Christian music playing over the speakers. If that's a thing that bothers you, take your order to go. The staff is friendly, informative, helpful and quick! We came in and there was a line of 8 or so people in front of us and all their orders were taken in like less than 10 mins. Most people were ordering out of the display case without getting anything heated up, so I'm sure that helped, but it's still pretty impressive. Love love love this place! I recently turned vegan 1/1/2022 and this place is seriously a ! I had the strawberry pop tart and it was phenomenal! I am choosing to be gluten free as much as possible and this item isn't gluten free but I had to try it. I can't wait I to go back for lunch. I wasn't able to order any other food items off the menu because everything is cooked-to-order and I didn't have enough time, but call ahead and place your order because that's what I'll be doing when I'm in a rush. Brand new and filled with curious passerbys, Miss Chickpea's Bakeshop makes delicious vegan treats accessible to folks around the Med Center area. Across the parking lot from Sprouts, this little bakery makes itself right at home. Due to their sudden popularity their cases were running low when I walked in but there was still plenty to see and check out here. This small space has gansitos, giant Oreos (that they call faux-reos), cookies, pop tarts, kolaches, cinnamon rolls, donuts, and cakes. Did I already mention everything is VEGAN? Some stuff is gluten free, too! I had the sausage and pepper kolache and it was one of the best kolaches I've ever had, that's also counting ones with meat. My coffee was sweetened with coconut milk and what looked like raw sugar. I also bought a faux-reo for later and two pop tarts for my sister and brother in law. Seating is limited, but there are a few benches outside. And the staff is happy to explain their concept to y'all, including a list of common ingredients they use in their baking (whaaaat chickpeas?!) Their hours regulate me to only visiting on Saturdays but that's alright. They seem to get lots of business. read more

this place is incredible! i've gotten the toasters at other coffee shops around town and, after seeing their daily post on instagram, I decided to finally go to the actual bakeshop. I got the chicken biscuit and had to unbutton my pants because it was so filling and beyond delicious- definitely worth the $5+ price tag. the toasters are really great. they look like they'd be overly sweet but they're not. the pastry is flaky, the filling is fresh, and the frosting isn't overwhelming. I also got a latte and it's great. it's not all water and syrup; it's good coffee with just the right amount of flavor and sweetness (I got pumpkin) it's tucked in a corner in the same shopping center as sprouts and they're really great about following safety guidelines. do yourself a favor and visit this place asap! read more
