My favorite dish here is the Bun Bo Hue. I'm not sure if it's authentic but I know it's so delicious. I discovered this dish 4 years ago by random and I've never ordered anything else from here since. I would make my friends come with me at least twice a month and I'm ALWAYS craving the bun bo hue here. The soup is so flavorful and it's extra good on a rainy day or if you're feeling sickly. I've introduced many people to their bun bo hue and they've all loved it. I've also went to many different vietnamese places in Phoenix, Florida, and LA. Tried this place a few times and yes, it's overall the best Vietnamese restaurant in Tucson. The first time I got the pho the noodles were off, but since then they've been good. Solid broth. Summer rolls are good and the peanut sauce it commendable. Bo luc lac wasn't as good as I've had in the past, and they serve it with a rice that isn't jasmine, which was weird to me. I was in Tucson over the weekend and stopped at this place for some pho. I ordered the spring rolls and combination pho. The spring rolls had pork and shrimp but it was really skimpy on the shrimp. I didn't care for the peanut sauce that was served with it and it was served warm which caught me off guard. The spring rolls were just ok. The pho was pretty good, the broth was decent and not sweet which is what I like. I don't like an overly sweet broth. Only one issue is the meatballs in the soup tasted weird. I've had them in many pho soups before because I always order the combination pho but something about the meatballs tasted funny like it was old or something. I couldn't place it. But the soup aside from the meatballs was good. Not a horrible experience but I can't say I'd be in a hurry to return though. I may try another pho place before going back to Miss Saigon. read more

The fact that this place has chicken broth on their vegetarian menu says all you need to know in my opinion

First, I should disclose I generally don't like Vietnamese food. They often use a seasoning (not sure what it is, but it seems to be in EVERYTHING) that I just don't like. But the girls wanted to eat here, and I figured I could find something. First, their system is weird. When you show up you get a number. Mind you, you haven't ordered anything yet. It's a number to let you sit down. Once you sit down then you get menus and can select your food. So the ladies ordered some noodles and other things. I spotted a beef dish that looked interesting and that's what I got. It was "#60". It came out with rice and a cake-like thing. To my surprise, it was pretty good. The meat was flavorful, the rice was fine, and that cake thing was not bad. I did not taste that seasoning I don't like at all! Can't quite say I'm a fan, but it was a solid meal. When I went to school here there was no such place nearby. Good food at reasonable prices is probably why this place is busy all the time. One bummer others have mentioned is the flies. So it's not just me! I don't know what it is, but there are a lot of flies here. It's weird. Not swarms of them, but several flying around. read more

Ok, but not the best and I've eaten a lot of Vietnamese food. I sometimes have a hard time deciding if I like it better or Korean. Most of the time it's a toss-up. So, I was really looking forward to a Vietnamese place with 4 stars. First, it took more time than it should have to take our order and we had to ask for straws twice. The table next to us got their order in before we did and we were seated several minutes before they were. When the waiter arrived to take our order, we started with the spring rolls with peanut sauce, one of our favorite things when it's good. After the rolls arrived we started right in. The rolls were served cut in two pieces. I picked one up and dipped it in the peanut sauce and took a bite. First, the peanut sauce tasted like it was diluted with some kind of brown gravy, yeah weird, so the taste wasn't even close to what the sauce usually tasted like. The spring roll tasted OK, but just OK. My wife and I agreed we've had much better rolls and the sauce really wasn't very good. Already two strikes, slow service and just so so spring rolls. I ordered #30 which is a combo soup with rice noodles. I like the taste of multiple meats and fish, so there were several shrimp and various other meats but the crab meat is the fake stuff. It's ok, but it pales aside the real stuff. My wife ordered a vegetarian dish, not my favorite thing to eat, but she really like meatless meals. When our meals arrived I tasted mine and was surprised that it was so bland. My meal did arrive in two bowls and I noticed that there was a very, very strong fish smell from my bowl of goodies. Usually if fish is fresh there is no smell coming from fish like that. I dumped the hot soup water into the large bowl and stirred. Like I said, bland. I squirted in some brown sauce and some hot sauce, stirred and it tasted better. My wife pretty much had the same experience except she didn't have the fishy smell... bland. She followed my lead with the brown sauce (it was on the table and I don't know it's name). Anyway, bottom line... the food is OK, but giving out 4 or 5 stars?? Not on any day I can remember when I bring my taste buds. This place serves average food and has average service. I doubt we will be back to try again as what we ordered should really be a representative sample of the quality of food served... or lack of quality with the fake crab meat... what the hell is up with that? The best pho place in Tucson in my opinion. This location is completely on a different level then the rest in town. I've been coming here for 2 years and I'd call my self a regular. The staff knows me and my order never changes. Always comes out fast And it's consistent. The service here is really why I keep going back. The staff is friendly and they are always on top of things. I've had lots of vietnamese food and in lots of places all over the country. This has got to be one of the best outside of Cali I've been to (maybe because of it's closer proximity to the state, ha). I haven't had any bad viet food, mainly because I read up on a place before I go, but none were anything to rave about. This though is quite good. I had the pho dac biet and some spring rolls. Usually you get an excess of noodles to cover the sparce helping of meats, and a rather bland soup base. This broth was flavorful and sweet, the meats were juicy and a-plenty, the noodles nice and firm. Beef tripe, meat balls, tendon, sliced flank and roundeye. Yummy goodness! The large portion wasn't as big as I typically get, but no biggie because I couldn't finish it all anyways. The spring rolls were pretty tasty too. The leafy greens were crisp and fresh, as were the shrimp and beef. It was rolled tighter than a cuban cigar, unlike most places where they are pretty weak and fall apart easily. It's a simple item so not something easily misdone. The dipping sauce is as simple as it gets, just needed a helping of chili pasted. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a good, fast, cheap meal. Located right across from the university, the place was jam packed with people winding down from a long day of classes. This was one of the first restaurants I stumbled upon in Tucson and oh man, what a find. I am by no means an expert on Vietnamese food but I do know when something tastes good. I have tried several pho places around the states and this is definitely one of my favorites. Although there are many things that make a good vietnamese restaurant, a key factor is the quality of their broth. And their pho broth is pretty close to perfect ---warm umami flavor, some sweet notes, and very aromatic. The noodles also have the right bite and the veggies/herbs are fresh. No mushy noodles here. And what better to pair with your warm bowl of pho than with a side of snow bubble tea. My go to is the blended coconut snow with coconut jelly. Mmmm. This is my go to restaurant in Tucson and there is so much left on the menu I need to try. Cons? Sometimes the wait is a little long but I guess it's a good sign when the tables are packed. i have zero complaints about our experience here! we've been looking for a place to be our new go to, and i think we found it in miss saigon! the service was insanely fast, and super friendly. the prices were super cheap and reasonable. and the food was SO GOOD! i would die for their peanut sauce!! we got the shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce which were excellent. i got the number 18 with a side of curry sauce and it was so delicious, the noodles were perfect, the veggies were perfect, and the curry tasted so good on top of everything. the ginger on the noodles was subtle but tasty. my partner got the 48 and said it was delicious, the chicken was cooked so well and the curry was perfectly delicious. her only complaint was that there weren't more veggies in the dish. we will absolutely be back here!!! i love it thanks! read more
