Stopped in for lunch to try brisket. I ordered a brisket sandwich and a small drink. I was pleasantly surprised how good the brisket was. Huge portion of meat spilling out of the bun. A real handful of a sandwich...And better yet, it was juicy, flavorful, and tender. Nice job! Tip could be if you wanted to try ribs, you can get a two or three meat platter with everything but ribs and then get 1 baby back and 1 spare rib. After seeing a few negative reviews, I was honestly really pleasantly surprised by this place! Staff was helpful and friendly, and by the time we sat at the table with the drinks, I probably sat for 30 seconds before I heard our names called. The staff told me that all of their food, bbq sauce, and dressings are homemade. Each table has 6 bbq sauce flavor options, with a description of its flavor on the holder. My favorite part of my meal was the side of Mac n cheese, it was very oooey gooey (with baked crunchiness on top) good! The French fries were fresh and crispy, although I would have liked slightly more seasoning. The pulled chicken sandwich was better than the brisket, but that may be because I went for the lean vs moist. Next time I might try the moist brisket or a combo of the two. I have visited a few of the restaurants in Florida & Indiana and was pleasantly surprised to find a new one opened in Chattanooga, TN. I'm a keen fan of smoked brisket (their moist brisket is the best!) and their jalapeño cheddar sausage (amazingly delicious!) Today's dining experience was equally as excellent as always P.S. If the smoked ribeye is the black plate special of the day, do not skip it!! They're not a franchise. But they are a chain. Could they get bbq right at a chain restaurant? Yes. Yes, they can. While Mission BBQ may not be the best bbq you'll put in your mouth, it's consistently a high-quality experience. I've been to this location so many times they know me be name. The staff is friendly/kind and I consider myself a raving fan. I've only ever gotten their moist brisket. (When they ask if you want moist or lean, go for moist). I was meeting a friend near Hamilton Place and wanted to try something new, so he suggested Mission BBQ. The place is decorated in a military theme, and since my friend was a marine, it was great. You place your order at the counter, give them your name, get a cup for your drink and wait for your name to be called. The first thing I noticed was that they didn't have a section called plates. You chose your meat or sandwich and then looking around on the menu (we picked up a paper one at the door) I saw that you could order a combo with one side or a combo with two sides. I ordered pork with a combo, one side of beans and a drink. I did not order a sandwich, I never order sandwiches at a BBQ place. When they called my name, there was a pork sandwich. In looking at the paper menu, it looked like you could just order a meat and then order a combo. But looking at the photo I took of the menu above the counter, the combo is hanging under the sandwiches. So maybe at this location you can't get a pork plate? A combo means a sandwich? When my friend picked up his sandwich (he did order a sandwich), there were no fries. They told him they were cooking. They brought them out to him shortly. Then after we'd been eating about 15 minutes, someone else brought him some more fries, which he didn't take. The pork was good, there was nice big smoke ring. The beans were good, nice and sweet. The fries were really good. We were there at noon and they played the National Anthem and everyone stood. I hadn't heard about this, so it was a complete surprise. I had just taken a bite of pork and I couldn't decide if I should continue to chew it, or just stand there with it in my mouth. I'm not sure what's the proper etiquette! read more

This place is fantastic. Let me start with the service. They were extremely kind and accommodating. Maybe it's just because Tennessee on the whole has friendly polite people, but they were just that. Polite, friendly, and ensuring we were accommodated. Ambiance of the entire place is really cool. It's extremely pro American, military, and law enforcement. It was nice to see that for a change as it seems stylish to be contrary to that today. The decor is full of patches, and military memorabilia. It was a comfortable place to eat to be sure. As for the food, it was delicious. They were definitely NOT cheap with the pulled pork sandwich. It was piled high, unlike other famous BBQ places in Tennessee. Their Mac and Cheese and Beans were really good as was the ribs. They have 6 different sauces available at the table so there's a little something for everyone's taste. Oh, as for desert, it's apparently seasonal but their banana pudding is absolutely delicious. WOW -- speechless as to how amazing, professional & courteous the staff & manager was. We are visiting from New Jersey & found Mission BBQ on Yelp rated high so we decided to give it a try. We learned that none of their meats are frozen & all smoked in-house perfectly for hours. They have an outdoor smoker as well which is specifically used for the brisket which I highly recommend as it was melt in your mouth perfect! We got a bunch of sauces on the side but honestly the meats were cooked so perfectly that none of them were even needed -- all great don't get me wrong!! My favorite out of the pulled chicken, brisket, ribs & sausage would have to be the ribs -- not only were they generously sized they were fall off the bone perfect! All of the seasonings for the brisket & ribs were in-house secrets but the proportions were absolutely incredible. I also want to shout out their manager Stacey who went above & beyond to not only explain everything but also gave us the warmest welcome when we walked through the door. Stopped in for a quick bite and were very impressed. Counter service was quick and friendly. I ordered a turkey plate, and the turkey was fork tender, delicious and I got a huge portion. If you're dining with kids, it's enough for you and two children. My husband got a turkey sandwich, and it had an enormous portion of turkey. My side salad was big and delicious, but oddly the portion of baked beans was tiny. His fries were so-so. For a quick dinner that is good and reasonably healthy, this is the place to go! My family LOVES Mission BBQ! It is delicious! Our favorite things is the Smoked turkey plates (best turkey I've ever had, period! :), I absolutely love the green beans (they are so flavorful with the bacon pieces and onion makes them so savory and delicious! I also loved the potato salad, it tastes like it's made with maybe a spicy brown mustard or the like, with diced celery, super good! The sweet corn bread is also delicious!! The staff is extreme kind, courteous, helpful and professional. Lastly, we must say one of our favorite parts of the whole place is all their patriotic decor everywhere. We love that they support our military and local civil servants and that each day they do the National Anthem at noon and everyone stops what they're doing to look at the flag and place a hand over their heart. We were offered free samples of anything off the menu to help up make up our minds - a very nice touch for first-time visitors. Son enjoyed a pulled chicken sandwich with french fries...hand cut and very fresh and tasty. The chicken was tender and had a hearty portion. I chose the brisket plate and it was some of the most tender, flavorful brisket I had ever had! We loved the Memphis Belle sauce but they offer six varieties at each table so you can customize your own.
