The employees truly go beyond in these restaurants. If there is an issue, say something, they will usually bend over backwards to make it right. The chicken morsels were moist and flavor built in. Every piece was awesome. The bread was also a good compliment. Soft and moist... Sandwich gone on seconds. Does it need the sauces??? I have had BBQ at some great places around the US. I thought that Texas BBQ was some of the best stuff I have ever tried, but the spare ribs here are fantastic. And the sauces are great too! This place is awesome! Fast, friendly service all around and the food is just bursting with flavor! I always go for the baby back ribs which are just out of this world! They fall off the bone and they are cooked to perfection! The mac n' cheese and the green bean w/ bacon side dishes are awesome as well! Another thing I recommend is the pulled pork! You can get it with or without bread. They used to serve steak (ribeye, I think?) but they discontinued that for some reason. While I've never tried all the food before, it wouldn't hurt to do so because it is absolutely amazing! What impresses me the most is that they can make such outstanding, quality food in under five minutes! They even show you your meal when you've ordered takeout so you can make sure it's right! When they said Mission BBQ. They AIN'T playin! You walk into a veritable hall of heroes, the walls emblazoned with words like "9/11 never forget", flags of the divisions of the armed forces, information about donating your time or money to great causes that help these heroes. I mean, if you didn't understand the mission before, you do now. Note: They do have a special spot out in the parking lot, solely for Wounded Warriors. So there's that too. The BBQ menu is pretty straightforward and I appreciate that. I decide on the 2 meat sampler as the XXL combo. My companion jokingly points out that she never really wants to order anything called XXL... but the fact that there are two sides that come with this combo in comparison to the 1 side with the XL combo, sidesteps her comfort issues. I got to try out the brisket and pork with the macaroni and cheese and coleslaw. The brisket was very tender. One thing that surprised me at the counter when I ordered the brisket was they asked if I wanted it "Lean or Moist." So then I asked... is "moist" more fatty? Even though I knew the answer... I just wanted her to say that, so I wouldn't order it. The cashier gracefully avoided the word fatty and said that it has some marbling throughout. Ahhh, marbling... if only I didn't know what that meant! Good pull though! The pulled pork was good, and I really appreciate how they have 6 different bbq sauces on the table, and even a mayo/white based sauce over by the the soda fountains. I believe it's called Alabama sauce. The bbq sauce I enjoyed the most was the Smokey... something. Followed closely by the Memphis.. something. As for the sides. Macaroni and cheese is top notch! The coleslaw definitely needed a little more seasoning. I could definitely say it needed a little salt, but it also needed a bit of... something else. Cornbread was nice and tender. Heard good things but not impressed. BBQ without beer? (I believe that beer is coming but why open without?) Anyway, order at counter, plastic flat ware, stand around for your name to be called, small portions ... not a fan. Also need to separate the phoned in to-go orders, made waiting more chaotic. It's nice that the guy who gives you your food explains what you got and how it's cooked but please don't finger f**c my dinner while your doing it. The BBQ itself was made properly, I'm not a huge fan of those big industrial smokers but what are you gonna do? Taste was average, could use a better rub. Their sauces weren't terrible but I wouldn't buy any to bring home. And doesn't BBQ usually come with some cornbread? I know I saw them making it but didn't see it on the menu and for I paid for a 3 meat plate you'd think some might come with. The theme ... don't get me wrong, and I'm a disabled combat veteran, I'm all for supporting the troops and public safety and I'm impressed that they sponsor WWP, USO and others but I'm always a bit skeptical, especially when you plaster the walls with patriotism. Often times this is used as a means of generating business, I'm not making any accusations I'm just saying. Here's to hoping that these organizations get something in return. I need a moment to appreciate the beef brisket. It is sooo moist and juicy. The baby back ribs are meaty but not fall off the bone which can be a good thing. It normally has a long line during lunch time. The wait can be over 30 minutes. Do call and order in advance, you can stroll to the side pick up door and be the envy of other people in line. Pork is an extremely flavorable meat, but theirs today had No Taste at All! As a matter of fact dishwater might have more flavor! Mission BBQ rivals even the best BBQ restaurants I've visited! The brisket is my favorite, but all their meats are delicious, and the sides could be meal in and of themselves! The mac'n'cheese is my favorite, for sure, but the cheesy potatoes, green beans, and french fries are also delish! I love the variety of sauces, from sweet to vinegar-y, mild to hot. Order at the counter (the staff is always friendly), and your food is ready in just a few minutes (at a great price). And if you're particularly patriotic, dine at noon to join in on the singing of the national anthem. Mission is always full of veterans and law enforcement officers and their families. It's a great little slice of Americana! (As you'd expect of a BBQ joint, Mission is not at all friendly to vegetarians. Even the veg dishes are cooked with some sort of meat product.) read more

This restaurant showed up a few months ago in the location formerly occupied by Chicken Out. As for Chicken Out, good riddance. Service style this reminds me of Chipotle - come in and join the queue, order and pay, then take your food and find a seat. Or take your food an leave, which was my approach - I was there for carryout. It's not straight-up fast-food like McD's, but it's still a "faster" food and doesn't have at-the-table service. The cashier who took my order was really friendly and helpful. I made a special request that was out-of-the-ordinary and she really tried to accommodate me. The computer wouldn't let her, but she really tried and sometimes that's the way it goes with software. Thumbs-up to the girl at the register. The food itself was very good. Portions were pretty large, but not extraordinary. I tried the brisket and the pulled pork, and both were very good. The meats had actually been seasoned (beyond salt and pepper) before being smoked, which a lot of places don't seem to do. DH had a pulled pork sandwich and the roll was definitely large and good quality. None of those grocery store hamburger buns here! We tried the memphis sauce and the KC sauce - both were very good. My sides were green beans and cole slaw. The green beans clearly started life by being put in a can, but they were dressed up very well. I identified onion, garlic, bacon, and something spicy (cayenne or crushed red pepper?) in them - heavy on the onion and bacon. The cole slaw was one of the better ones I've had - the dressing was tangy and light, not gloopy and mayonnaise-y; the mix of vegetables in the slaw was nice, too, and it had the right amount of celery seed. I love the "pop" of occasionally chewing a celery seed! DH had fries, mac & cheese, and slaw. He agreed that the slaw was very good. He was also impressed with the mac & cheese - that's one of his favorite foods, and he said it was possibly the best mac & cheese he'd ever had. The fries? Also very good. I stole a few, so I know first-hand. They were cooked to order and seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic. Crispy and delicious, with skins still on. All in all, this is a win. They provide 6 different bbq sauces ranging from tangy to sweet to spicy to old bay. My first time here I ordered the turkey, with coleslaw and cornbread. The turkey was juicy and smoked well. The coleslaw was light and not overly mayo-ed. The cornbread would've been even better with butter. They have a large selection of nostalgia (sodas) in glass bottles. Paper towel are provided for all the saucing. I have to make it back here to try some of their other options...possible promotion to 5 stars if the brisket is as well done as the turkey. read more

When it comes to BBQ, the best places are usually independently owned. Chains run the gamut from "meh" to "decent if you don't mind it being a chain". Luckily, Mission BBQ seems to be the exception cause DAMN is that good BBQ. Now, I'm not saying it's the best out there. I've been to restaurants all across the US, and there have been some real winners. But Mission BBQ is about as close as you can get. The meat is cooked nicely, the sauces are done just right, and the service is fast and top-notch. The big downside is that they're very popular, which means long lines and wait times. Your best bet is to go on an off-time, avoiding peak hours. Unfortunately, they're so popular, the only "off-time" is early on a weekday, so take that as you will. Also, for those that don't know, Mission BBQ is a proud supporter of our men and women in uniform. That goes for overseas and right here at home. So, even if you may not agree with our current domestic or foreign policy, at least support those who put their lives on the line for us every day. read more

This place is pretty amazing. As with most reviews, the food is delicious and the meaning behind the place is beyond patriotic. We originally tried Mission BBQ on a large scale with my work- heard good things and ordered take out. The price is worth every single penny when it comes to the quality and taste of the food. We also were fortunate enough to sample so many of their sauces. Since ordering carryout, I have taken my family to eat in. We love everything there- the sides are to die for. I've never had better mac n cheese! This place gets crowded quickly during peak hours, so I definitely recommend trying carryout or getting there at an off time. Everyone is friendly- although I will say one time one of the young female cashiers started out acting very annoyed that my party did not know what they wanted immediately upon entering the establishment. She wasn't helpful at first but did end up warming up to us as she noticed she liked my purse and earrings (random). If thats what it takes to make her want to explain things to the group- fine. Been here a few times and then we've also done takeout as well. They have a good message and all about supporting the people who serve our country, but I'm just not that impressed with the food or the place itself. The place itself is very loud, making it hard to hear others and actually have a conversation. The furniture is all wood and the floors just bounce of sounds. Take out is a decent option if you don't want to experience the noise, but the food is usually cold by the time it gets home. The food itself is mediocre in my opinion. They have lots of sauces and types of barbecue but they all seem to just blend into one flavor. I also feel like the food is way overpriced for what you get. You pay a lot for a small amount of food (especially sides) and the food isn't all that great. I usually try to steer away from those place when bbq is suggested.
