I need to know how I have yet to review this place. I love love love this place. I love that they have a military affiliation. The decorations in each location pays homage to service member as well as civil servants. This one even has a display to recognize the local police station. The staff are super friendly from the time you walk in. The manager will walk from table to table just having conversations. Why? to ensure that you enjoying your food and service? Yes! But also to get to know you but in a non intrusive way. Doesn't hurt that she is often toting samples of the seasonal dessert or different menu items. So, moving on to the food. It is outstanding!! We had the pulled chicken, brisket, ribs. Seriously at some point I have eaten every item on this menu!! I even had them cater my company holiday social. They have not hired me as staff yet but they really should since I am a walking billboard pushing their brand. Anyway, back to the food! The meat is so tender and well seasoned. Even the chicken has the summer taste of being fresh off the grill. Yum. I really love the fries. Home cut, the perfect amount of crisp and salt. I hear the mac and cheese is good. My family loves it and they are heavier critics than I am. This place is highly recommended!! :( but they don't have a military discount. No military discount! I'm not one that goes hunting and begging for discounts for the service to my country but I find it disrespectful to advertise using the USO and have military items plastered all over your walls and still tell the armed service that you do not offer any military discount. Also found it strange that the prices on the menu were not permanent. Written with dry erase so it is easier to change the prices out. After writing my opinion of this establishment Ron M. Decided to harass me for and called my service to my country a, and I quote "joke". He claimed to be a veteran himself and a current first responder but if this is how the local first responders confront their active duty military by saying all I do is hunt for freebies and discounts then don't count me in for his support. I understand he does not speak for all the first responders but I was just shocked that he would attack someone because they did not feel the same way he did about a restaurant. We have been back 5 or 6 times now. Every time the food and service have been outstanding. We have tried the pulled pork, the brisket, the chicken, the ribs and the salmon. The food is great, the portions generous and we love the decor. Prices are reasonable. We have watched the staff interact with customers and it has always been great customer service. Great food! Very pleasant helpful staff. Reasonable prices and very clean plus they take care of military and fire and rescue employees!

Serviceable BBQ. Not great but pretty good. Got the three meat/two sides meal which was around $19. I thought the price was ridiculous for what I got. The portion size on the three meats was small. The brisket was dry, the jalapeño sausage was good and the pulled chicken was pretty forgettable. The two sides - green beans and baked beans were both great. The sweet tea was also very good. They gave me six small containers of BBQ sauce in a variety of flavors. Half were very good and the other half weren't. I planned on having some to save for $19 and wasn't stuffed when I was finished. I've eaten at some southern mom and pop BBQ joints where $19 would bust the bottom out of the carry out bag. As someone else mentioned, their call in/carry out procedure is just, well, stupid. I phoned my order in and had to wait in line for my food just like the people who walked in off the street and ordered. Makes no sense. Why even have carry out? I would probably eat here again but Hempen Hill does BBQ better and for a slightly better price. read more

The food is pretty good. I'm not sure what the point of call-ahead carry-out is if they don't prepare it until you get there. I still had to wait in line, too. Though I do appreciate the priority carry-out parking. read more

I eat at the store in Canton all the time. Excellent food and a organization I can really get behind. The hagerstown store has a new mgr Cage. He single handily made our meal so uncomfortable that I will never eat at the hagerstown store again. I'm all for mgrs checking on tables, but to innerupt our meal with what sound like stories of stolen valor is beyond acceptable. read more

We are here visiting Cumberland, MD and a friend suggested we get some BBQ. We found Mission Barbecue on Google maps and decided to go since we were going in the area to shop. As soon as we hit the door we smelled the smoke flavor. It was a long line , which was a good sign, but it moved fast. We ordered the spare ribs, pulled pork sandwich, brisket & chicken. We were not disappointed. All the meats were juicy and tender. They have a dry rub and you can add the sauce of your choice conveniently at your table. For sides we had the delicious mac & cheese and green beans. The orders came with a sweet cornbread. While we were eating the manager (maybe owner) came to check on us. He was so pleasant and friendly. My friend told him she had a hard time decided on which meat to order. He then ran back to the kitchen and brought her out some of the brisket she wanted to try for free. Now that is great customer service. This was one of the most enjoyable dining experiences I've had in awhile. I was delighted to find out they have 2 locations in my hometown of Ohio. read more

OMG!!! This place is fantastic!! We were in the mall getting a touch up done at old line and i was starving when we left so I mentioned to my boyfriend we should try this place and he was down. We went in and the employees were super friendly when we walked up the counter. He ordered a pulled pork sandwich and i ordered a pulled chicken sandwich. For our sides, he got their fries and I got mac and cheese and I am still kicking myself today for not getting the fries. I stole some of his and they were SO GOOD!!! You didn't even need to put any ketchup on them. The mac and cheese was okay, but it was too peppery which i don't like, however my boyfriend loved it so I gave the rest to him. The chicken was so flavorful and not at all dry, and we used the smoky mountain BBQ sauce they have in their sauce samples at the tables and it was great!!! It complimented the meat perfectly. The employees are also so friendly when you're sitting down, they come and take your trays when you're finished and ask if you need refills. I wanted to leave a tip for them but I wasn't sure if that was something they would take here and i didn't want the money to get stolen either. But I am definitely coming back and definitely getting fries next time!!! read more

WOW - some of the best BBQ we've had! And we are BBQ junkies. Stopped for the night in Hagerstown, & we discovered Mission BBQ by accident after a near-miss at another bbq spot. We were soooooooooooo lucky the other spot wouldn't serve sliced brisket sandwiches for lunch - only some pulled-brisket-already-in-a-sauce-something-or-other - even though they had sliced brisket meals on the menu!! We walked out of the other place and a departing customer in the parking lot RIGHT out front said - "GO TO MISSION BBQ. you WON'T regret it - TRUST me". . . . Boy was he right!!!! If we'd gotten his name, we'd send him a thank you card! Mission BBQ has a SUPER friendly staff - very courteous and anxious to be sure you are happy! Great supporters of veterans and law. enforcement and firemen. Dynamic menu with great choices and absolutely delicious Q!!! We had brisket sandwiches & took away some sausage & brisket plus 2 sides and wonderful cornbread for dinner. All VERY yummy! WHAT a great find! read more
