"We're a band of brothers and sisters and whatever On a mission to break all the rules" (Willie Nelson) Mission BBQ opened its doors for business on September 11, 2011. Their patriotic theme, mission, and décor honors the nation's military, police, firefighters, and first responders. There is military memorabilia, photos, police patches, and quotations everywhere you look. The chain is up to 142 locations, and although two of them are in my home state, it took a trip to Rehoboth Beach to mark my first visit to a Mission BBQ. Their menu covers all of the familiar barbecue basics - brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, sausage, ribs, turkey, and the customary side dishes (mac and cheese, beans, slaw). We ordered at the counter, grabbed our soft drink, and waited for our number to be called. We split a pulled pork sandwich ($8.89) and went for Traditional flavor and not the vinegary NC Style, a big order of their Fresh Cut Fries ($3.19), and a $2.89 soft drink. The food was excellent. That one sandwich and single order of fries were plenty for us to split. One great feature Mission has is a six pack of different BBQ sauces at every table, so you can find your perfect formula of sweet, hot, or savory notes to complement your barbecue. We had an excellent lunch and sure enjoyed our visit.

Great spot for a fast and tasty lunch while shopping at the outlets! Even on Black Friday, when the entire Tanger complex was a disaster, Mission kept plugging along. Came at the tail end of lunch and was able to secure a seat and were in and out in no time. I'm glad I attempted a healthier lunch with the pulled chicken, coleslaw and baked beans with brisket. The chicken was delicious and very juicy as well as paired quite well with all of the sauces. My favorite was the WV style with molasses - I just kept adding to everything. The bun was nice and soft and it wasnt too sloppy! The coleslaw was quite good and paired well on the bun with the chicken and by itself. Not too mayo forward with a great bright pop. I loved those beans. My wife got the brisket solo, which was very good as well, but having the brisket in the beans was great. The staff were all SO nice and helpful. Especially on a big shopping holiday like Black Friday, I felt like everyone was so pleasant and helpful. My wife asked for honey and butter with the cornbread, but they only had butter - the manager really searched for honey and was so sweet when they didn't have any. There were a lot of great looking sides and mains and since my wife and I visit Delaware a few times a year, we will be back knowing we can get a great lunch!

We're visiting from Philadelphia and decided to stop by Mission BBQ here in Delaware--and let me just say, this place left a lasting impression on our family. From the moment we walked in, Janiah (GSR) greeted us with a bright smile and a full breakdown of what to expect. Her energy and attention made us feel like more than just customers--it felt like home. And Dwayne D (the DRL) sealed the deal with genuine hospitality, making sure we were comfortable and well taken care of throughout our visit. The food? Incredible. Flavorful, fresh, and served with care. My mother, who never asks for seconds, went back for more sides--which says everything. Store 134, you guys truly rock. Thank you for giving us such a great experience. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in town!

They texted us and the text provided a wait list showing what place we were in the queue, and much was pretty nice. For the appetizer, we got the Crab Spinach Dip, which was odd in and of itself because the menu says it has artichokes but doesn't mention spinach. It came with chips and was very tasty. I must admit I was a little disappointed in the portion. The bowl of dip was not full and while the chips did cover the amount of dip, it wasn't very much. For dinner, I got the Fish & Chips, Fries and Cole Slaw. It wasn't bad. Not the best I've ever had, but not bad. I'd probably try something else next time. My wife got the Crab Imperial, which was very good. She also got a Bloody Mary to go with her meal. My son got the Big Shrimp with Saffron rice and broccoli, which was very good. Our friend got the Big Chicken with what looked like pureed Yams. He thought it was decent. The highlight was the dessert, which was the Double Chocolate Cake and a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. We really enjoyed it. Our wait staff did a decent job as well. We will definitely be back.

We had our…read more"picky eater" daughters with us so based on the menu it looked like First State had a few options to their liking. The inside was nice with a bit of a sports bar feel. Our meal included: - Marinier Mussels (shared) - Brewhouse Pretzel (my wife loves pretzels) - Brewhouse wings (shared) - Cheese Burger + Fries (for our youngest) - Birria Flatbread (for our oldest) Overall the food was good and everyone enjoyed what they had. I had one of their dark beers (I think it was a chocolate porter) and my wife had a margarita. The girls wanted something sweet so they got the chocolate cake and a Smores Cheesecake. I think this was their favorite part of the meal because they were slightly reluctant to share. The wait staff were great and very attentive. Overall we had a good experience and would recommend.

And the bacon was overcooked too. This was a Saturday at dinner, maybe 2/5 full so it's not like it was crowded and the kitchen was slammed. Food took too long to come out also, but now I know why, they were overcooking the burger. Slaw was ok, wouldn't get it again. And, I didn't order fries but still got two of them on my plate. The salad was fine. Beer choices were good. Looks like a place to watch a game and throw back a few cold ones but I would not eat here again. Waiter was minimally polite, and it seemed like he had better things to do at times.

The night of the cancelled reservation I got a very snarky and rude VM admonishing me for not showing up and not calling to cancel. I promptly called back and explained that I did in fact canc and that I had a new reservation. She replied she would put me on hold to ck if I was telling the truth. After a few minutes she returns to say Your all set! No apology nothing. I told her I felt her vm was snarky and would address it when we came in the following week. She rudely responds OK well you do that! And hangs up. Needless to say we did not visit the establishment and would never under any circumstances dine at an establishment where they treat customers so disrespectfully. Restaurants are a dime a dozen around here and your success is largely based on reputation. Now I see why they're open 4 hrs a night for 4 days a week!!

To ME, this is not a 4 or 5 star establishment at all. I appreciated the eastethic of the place...it was relaxed but a lot of the diners were dressed nicely. However, why did the hostess have on a hoodie?! This is very strange considering (for the area) this is what they consider a higher end restaraunt. I absolutely hated sitting outside! People will talk about NYC being ghetto....Our table was literally right next to the waiting area. This guy almost hit me because he was that close to our table. smh but we are in times where establishments want to make money on every inch of available space. Take that into consideration if there is only seating outside, which may not be a biggie for others. The food: the bang bang shrimp was VERY heavy on the mayo and the shrimp weren't as crispy. We didn't finish it. I ordered the scallops and they were good but I wasn't a fan of the risotto and didn't taste truffle oil on top. My aunt ordered one of the fish dishes and her fish was overcooked. lol At that point I was feeling gaslit by the reviews because my expectations were wayyyy too high for this place! Service: Our waiter was very nice but he literally came over THREE times to get the bill. There is a tactful way to do this (look from a distance and wait for the customer to clearly be ready and book closed). It was the one turn-off regarding his service that night. Maybe we needed to order other dishes, maybe our expectations are too high for an area like this but we weren't blown away by this dining experience.
