The food is very good, but the portions are on the smaller side and the prices are fairly high for what you get. If you come hungry, you might end up needing to order extra. For our family of four, the meal cost around $60-$70, and we didn't leave feeling full. For almost the same price, I'd probably choose a buffet instead. Okay, I don't crave bbq, except I'll crave like a pulled pork baked potato from Texas, but I haven't really seen that anywhere outside of Texas. The people I was with, wanted bbq, so I begrudgingly went and we ordered the following items to share: Mac & Cheese - really good Brisket - first time we went, it wasn't good, because it was dry - I think it was later in the night that people previously who ate there got the better parts. Pulled Pork - really good Cornbread - moist and not too dry Jalapeno & Cheese Sausage - not sure why I love this so much. Maybe it wasn't as salty as other bbq places? I really like the Tupelo Honey Heat and Texas Twang. I went here 3x and I have to say the staff here is beyond amazing. All super nice and friendly. Down by Delaware Tanger Outlet where there's several fast food joints and restaurants, Mission BBQ stood out from the moment you get out of your car and smelled the smoky bbq scent at the parking lot. I can't believe I've never been to one and knowing it's a chain restaurant is even better! I got the half chicken and side salad combo. The chicken was nicely seasoned and very tender juicy. "We're a band of brothers and sisters and whatever On a mission to break all the rules" (Willie Nelson) Mission BBQ opened its doors for business on September 11, 2011. Their patriotic theme, mission, and décor honors the nation's military, police, firefighters, and first responders. There is military memorabilia, photos, police patches, and quotations everywhere you look. The chain is up to 142 locations, and although two of them are in my home state, it took a trip to Rehoboth Beach to mark my first visit to a Mission BBQ. Their menu covers all of the familiar barbecue basics - brisket, pulled pork, pulled chicken, sausage, ribs, turkey, and the customary side dishes (mac and cheese, beans, slaw). We ordered at the counter, grabbed our soft drink, and waited for our number to be called. We split a pulled pork sandwich ($8.89) and went for Traditional flavor and not the vinegary NC Style, a big order of their Fresh Cut Fries ($3.19), and a $2.89 soft drink. The food was excellent. That one sandwich and single order of fries were plenty for us to split. One great feature Mission has is a six pack of different BBQ sauces at every table, so you can find your perfect formula of sweet, hot, or savory notes to complement your barbecue. Around 6:30 pm, July 6, I called the Rehobeth, Delaware Mission BBQ to order one moist brisket and one lean brisket to take out, but the supposedly "lean" brisket had a lot of fat on the side of the brisket. The second thing wrong was that the order was not waiting for me to pick up when I arrived, so I had to wait about 10 minutes. On the positive side, when I called them to complain the guy who answered the phone did credit the cost ($15) of the non-lean brisket back to my credit card. This experience compares unfavorably with the service at our local Mission BBQ here in Virginia. They always get the order right! read more

Great spot for a fast and tasty lunch while shopping at the outlets! Even on Black Friday, when the entire Tanger complex was a disaster, Mission kept plugging along. Came at the tail end of lunch and was able to secure a seat and were in and out in no time. I'm glad I attempted a healthier lunch with the pulled chicken, coleslaw and baked beans with brisket. The chicken was delicious and very juicy as well as paired quite well with all of the sauces. My favorite was the WV style with molasses - I just kept adding to everything. The bun was nice and soft and it wasnt too sloppy! The coleslaw was quite good and paired well on the bun with the chicken and by itself. Not too mayo forward with a great bright pop. I loved those beans. My wife got the brisket solo, which was very good as well, but having the brisket in the beans was great. The staff were all SO nice and helpful. Especially on a big shopping holiday like Black Friday, I felt like everyone was so pleasant and helpful. My wife asked for honey and butter with the cornbread, but they only had butter - the manager really searched for honey and was so sweet when they didn't have any. There were a lot of great looking sides and mains and since my wife and I visit Delaware a few times a year, we will be back knowing we can get a great lunch! read more

Unfortunately, despite the friendliness of the staff, the food preparation has tons of surface cross contamination, resulting in what is at best unclean, and at worst unsafe food. The person prepping our sides used the same gloves to clean, wipe up spills, adjust their pants/belt, and full-hand grip the inside and bottoms of our side containers. We spent money on food we felt too uncomfortable to eat. It's very sad to see your money go like that. I'm sure the food is delicious, im sorry, but we wouldn't know I've never done a review before, I just wanted to warn people that care about food safety. This place is a 10/10 in my books. Not only do they heavily support and feed our military and their families but they also support all first responders. Thats only one reason to like it so much, you open the door and are greeted pleasantly and personally by every team member. The food is just mouth watering. This is bbq done correctly 1000%. Slow smoked all day. Everything is scratch made. It's legit. The brisket melts in your mouth. The pulled pork is ridiculous. Coleslaw is very good. The cornbread is some of the best I've had. Oh then there the ridiculous strawberry shortcake. Mmmmmm. Sooo good. Folks here are beyond friendly and will talk to you all day if you want but will also give you space if that's your jam. My friends and I went on a day long trip to rehoboth beach and we got hungry, as one does. So we went to the Mission 15 minutes away. Needless to say, Mission is already a wonderful restaurant. We have it in Maryland and I go there so much, a bunch of the employees know me by name. When I walked in, the smell was immaculate. I simply couldn't imagine a better smell in that moment. I went up to the register and was immediately greeted by a lovely woman by the name is Isabelle. Her personality was just as pretty as her face and her kindness echoed. She spoke clearly and I understood every question she asked, which in the food industry, is hard to come by. I ordered my usual, a pulled pork sandwich with a side of mac and cheese. Absolutely amazing. The mac and cheese was the creamiest i've ever had at a Mission BBQ. Not to mention that the mac and the pork were sizzling.
