We also ordered two fountain drinks. It was our first time, so some discussion with a very friendly and enthusiastic worker about how spicy to get our chicken. We were told we could choose one spice level for each, so we got the medium slider and the hot tender. We both like spicy food. The food came quickly and was overall tasty. We both preferred the medium. Not sure if it is cayenne or paprika or something else, but there's too much of something on the rubs for us. The fries were well prepared with a nice crunch, the pickles were tasty and crunchy and the chicken itself was moist. Neither of us was a fan of the rub. (I prefer Hangry Joes, Raisin Cane, Popeye, etc for my fried chicken fix.). It's tasty, but there's something about the rub that feels and seems greasy, even though I don't think it is. I assume the rub is on all spice levels, but I'm not sure. Anyway, the sauce that comes with the chicken is too mayonnaise-y, I think. It's a nice try, but not quite there. Which made it even more disappointing when the person taking my order said "people really like Dave's sauce. Would you like Dave's sauce" and I (since I knew it came with Dave's sauce) said yes, thinking maybe there were other options. Then, when I picked up the food, she handed me four plastic bags with sauce and I saw that I was charged extra for the sauce. I'm still scratching my head about that. Because we were not impressed with the sauce that came with the meal in the small container, we didn't open any of the bags and left them on the table for the next customer. Since opening a few weeks ago, I've been there twice by myself and once with my wife (tonight). Tonights visit was really bad. Since I've been talking this place up to my wife, felt pretty badly. We waited 45 minutes for the food (dine-in) and really only got it because I nagged them several times (and they agreed the 45 minute wait wasn't acceptable). Unfortunately, most of the food we received was cold. How is this possible? Is the food just sitting around? You'd think the ONE benefit of waiting is you will receive fresh, hot food. I've been thinking about this place since passing it on Rockville Pike a few weeks ago and for some reason I woke up with a craving today, even though I've never had it (but have seen photos of the food). For fast food, my experience was the quality was excellent but the fast was slow. It took 20 minutes from the time I ordered until my food came out. That said, the staff were all hustling efficiently while keeping a smile and genuinely helpful attitude which was a shocker since I'm used to the treatment from Popeye's people. And the krinkle kut fries, which are usually the armpit of the french-fry world were really good - potatoey and crispy without being oily and the light seasoning was good, kinda reminded me of old bay which I like on my fries anyway. The chicken sandwiches they call sliders are really sandwiches. The kale slaw is a great condiment, freshly made and the pickles are better than the crap at McD's other fast food places. Food took 23 minutes to come out so don't think this is quick food. We went in at 3pm on a Sunday and walked up to the register. There is a kiosk to order through, but I don't like using those so I waited for a person to take my order. A guy who was making a milkshake finished what he was doing and came to take my order. He came back with no buzzer and no food and said they had buzzed us for the wrong order. So now we had no buzzer and had to wait to hear if our number would be called. After 23 minutes from sitting down they called our number and we got our food. They didn't give us any napkins with our food so we had to walk back up to the front and get some napkins since they keep them behind the drink station. They should make it easier to get napkins.
