Well, one day, I finished bathing my animals and I used the towel rack to hoist myself up (I know, really old-geezer of me :P) Surprise, my fatass broke the towel rack. After having my piano instructor/handyman check what was wrong, apparently, the last guy had used a too-short wood screw (whose threads were too wide) to hold the metal towel rack to the steel shower door. Home Depot failed me, telling me that the smallest screw they had was 4 metric, and I needed a 3 metric. Home Depot guy told me to go to Mission Hardware, so I did. It was only a few minutes before I flagged down a worker who led me to the hardware dude, who (dropped everything he was doing &) was promptly helpful, and who matched and found the 3 metric screw with finer threads. 17 cents and a short drive home later, the screw fit perfectly and the towel rack is as steady as it's every been, holding 2 thick and heavier towels. I returned an unopen item to Mission Superhardware that l paid with my credit card 3 monthes ago, but the manager Master refused to credit back to my credit card , instead they issue me with their's own gift card ,they said it's after 3 monthes and only issue the gift card which is not fair for consumers . And also the bottom of the receipt said if you pay with a credit card then you will be refund with the same credit card , so you you buy anythings from there and return later you probably get a gift card instead of you your credit card . read more

I'm a fan of this place. You carry a bunch of stuff that the bigger chains don't, and the staff here is super knowledgeable. If you describe your problem to them, they'll get you the right parts. I come here instead of Home Depot whenever I can. Service like they offer here is something that Home Depot doesn't quite understand. Being in a hardware store is not like going to the beach where I'm just dawdling. I'm here to pick up something (usually to address an immediate issue). I needed a special shower cleaner that you apply and wait ten seconds then wipe off scum, skin cells, spots, stains and some more. Chlorine won't do. They had it in stock! They also have other hard to find items you can't find from other Big Box stores. I like how everything is laid out closely you don't need to walk forever to find things. And you can find a sales associate unlike those Big Box stores that tell you go hop over 20 aisles to find someone and they're not there. I like how there's no loud noise and machinery going on. I also like how parking is so convenient it's just mere steps from the front door, great for seniors or handicapable people. Excellent Customer Service Experience with a Return!! I originally came to San Gabriel Mission Hardware, this past Wednesday, May 3, to have 3-Mailbox keys made, I got Home , the Keys(All 3) Did Not Work, they could Not even fit into the Mailbox, Lock. JRNL # F98053/1 I Returned to Mission Hardware, today, Sat, May 6, the First person to greet me as I Entered the Store was, Aaron, the Manager, Who asked me, "How Can We Help You?", I told him, I came in this Past Wednesday to have 3-keyes Copied, but they, All "3" Do Not Work", He told me to go back to the Key-Maker Desk and tell them the Copies Do Not Work and Jokingly to Smack the Back of the Key-makers Hands and ask for a "Re-Do". I explained my problem to the Key-maker Clerk, the Key-maker told me he did not have any more of the blanks in Stock for a "Re-Do" and that he could only offer me a Refund and the two of us walked toward the Cashier then Aaron asked to see to my original key, then Aaron asked the key-maker to verify there were No More blanks for mailbox keys, Aaron then told me that he give me a Full Refund and will Personally "Cut " me 3-copies of my mailbox key and to go directly to Cashier and he will take the keys up to the Cashier Desk. Amy the Cashier gave me My Cash Refund ($2.15), JRNL # F99818/1 a few minutes later Aaron presented me with 3-keys copies and Original keys. Aaron Apologized to me and said the key-makers are Fairly New Employees. I arrived home, Tested all 3-copies, they All Worked!! And the old man that was fixing the screen doors/windows got "annoyed" I had so many keys. He told me if I had more than 5 keys I needed to make a "special order". Like I should have already known that. On top of that he says to me "cause you're keeping my guys from working". THE FUCK? I came in for keys whether you're understaffed or unorganized (because they kept switching guys to make the copies) is not on me. Advised by our plumber to buy a new toilet, we went to Mission Hardware. The Asian sales lady in the plumbing section suggested that we buy a Toto universal flush valve instead to avoid buying a new toilet. SHE WAS RIGHT! Nice hardware store with nice people. I came here with my friend to get some keys made and it didn't cost much at all. We went to Walmart earlier and the machine there didn't cut our keys right so we came here and it was a very nice experience, I don't know much about key cutting but it looks pretty hands on here. At Walmart the employee puts it in a machine and forgets about it but here they machine it manually. Pretty cool. read more

After two amazing experiences here, I really felt the need to come and write a review for this store. The first time I needed some help and they were so helpful in helping me find what I needed. The second time (today), I needed help finding the right type of connector for my fireplace, I wasted two weeks with home Depot and Lowe's and the level of knowledge and service is worth paying three times the price at the store however it ended up being cheaper than both. I bought about $1,000 value of products from this store one year ago in 2012 and it was okay. Recently on May 18, 2013, I bought three ventilation ceiling fans and three days later (May 21, 2013) I came back to return two of them because my contractor provided me incorrect quantity information for the property that was being remodeled. The two returned fans were never open and the boxes were new and fully sealed. The cashier Tricia gave me a hard time and was very rude to me. His facial expression was telling me that I should not return the products. It was okay to have the manager to verify the boxes but it was not a pleasant experience. The manager and another personel each cut open the two boxes and verified the content inside and then they sealed the boxes back. I got the two boxes refund finally at the end. Now I read other reviews and confirmed other customers were having similar experience when returning unused products. I will not buy anything from this store again. I typically go to Lowes and Home Depot but this store was just close by that day and I now regretted. read more

I come here mainly to get keys made because its like dirt cheap compared to all those little key places found in parking lots. This place is a little confusing but you get the hang of things when looking for things. Last night I just arrived at 7pm and noticed the sign just flipped to closed but the manager was still allowing people in. I thought that was great and very hospitable. What I wasn't expecting was the nice greeting and when I asked where I could find the industrialized heavy duty glue he didnt give me a strange look, but he called a nearby associate to help me find what I was looking for, then a second associate came and helped me as well. Found what I was looking for, paid and got out. The register people were nice too, still smiling even after a long days work. Dino, the co-owner, responded very quickly to the problem with the sinks. Although it was the manufacturer's fault that they shipped the wrong order because the updated product number was not given to Mission Hardware, they are still responsible for keeping in communication to ensure that problems like these do not happen. At least they refunded the charge of the side splashes, but I had to call my contractor in for an extra day to install the sinks and the side splashes did not even cover the amount I had to pay the contractor for his day's wage. read more

This is the type of hardware store I grew up with when having to help my dad find a particular screw or bolt in our old house and had to make renovations to it and keeping the original style. The people that work here has a thorough knowledge of what people that work in such a spot. You go to a Home Depot, and you will leave frustrated because a particular bolt/screw that you are looking for doesn't exist in the store...and that kid that just graduated high school would have no knowledge. My dad always state this, I see a lot of others that feel the same way. Knowledge in hardware is rare these days. This place carries a massive amount of knowledge along with materials for older homes, which is wonderful. Add on top of that genuine customer service and you have a great place. Being a store that has a diverse group of communities living around, their staff will go out of their way to help, regardless of what language barriers there would be. This hardware store has been here serving the San Gabriel Valley community since 1946. That's before my mother was born. It is well organized, and clean. The aisles are comparably narrower than some newer markets. They made up for it by friendly and welcoming service. I was looking for dowels during this particular visit. An employee quickly pointed me to the right place. Unfortunately, the size I need only came in 3 feet length. The worker helped me cut this long piece of wood that cost only 90 cents into the right dimensions in less than 10 minutes, with no additional charge!
