We had done all our research on line and reached out to Henry Rodriguez through TrueCar. Although we basically went in to sign docs and pick up the CR-V we wanted, Henry went out of his way to make us feel great about our purchase and certainly earned our business. He kept the car overnight with our blessings because he was not satisfied with the detail and promised us some great food for the inconvenience for not getting the car that day. We came back today to get our new ride and even though we did not take him up on lunch, we will most certainly be giving him a call in the near future to take him up on the rain check. My husband brought his car in it's a older Honda and they took awhile because of parts being on back order. Totally understandable. We couldn't get the car anyways when it was done because it was $2,300. It was more then we were expecting so they held the car for us until we were ready free of charge and we appreciate that. BUT the problem is in the way his car was left with the window down. When my son and I picked up his car it was filthy and had been sitting for probably about a month so the inside was covered in dust, the outside was atrocious. Maybe they didn't care because it's an older car but wow this is unacceptable, ants crawling all over the front and back seat. After paying almost $2,400 this is how they treat my husbands car. Very disappointed. 2 star because the service guy my husband was dealing with was very good at communicating and gave my husband good service. This could have been a easy 4 star review but the way we were given back the car, I knocked down 2 stars. read more

Who do you see when you come to Modesto Honda ? TOMAS, TOMAS, TOMAS!! Why we ask? You get IMMEDIATE responses; clear cut info, a professional experience, and patience like a saint. I had five thousand questions. He answered diligently, patiently, and if he didn't know the answer, he got the answer by end of business day. In addition, I drove at least six to seven different models, and came in and out of the dealership a total of 5 days. Being in the market for a new Honda CR-V, I feel I got the best deal possible, and could not beat the 1.9% financing on new models!! The store did not have the color and trim I wanted, and Tomas quickly expedited the model from another dealership in Berkely. It was here in about 32 hours ( mind you, we are in the middle of a pandemic, and the night before Oakland Honda got looted by rioters; they even stole a new CR-V ! ). They might be able to sell cars, but they need a good education on servicing them. Before moving to Modesto, I always took my Honda to the dealership, because they gave great thorough service with a kind and courteous approach. NOT MISTLIN! Avoid their service department because each time I would go in for service they told me I was required to replace something expensive (even with one 50,000 miles on the car). The brakes were asked to be replace on multiple occasions, even after I had changed them within the last 10k mi of them asking. The staff told me my extended Honda warranty didn't cover much and it wasn't worth the money, they continued to tell me that I needed something major fixed that wouldn't be covered by the warranty. Finally, I took the car in for one last shot at a very apparent noise coming from the rear of the car. After what seemed to be minimal effort (I declined their "requirement" for a brake change) I asked him to take another look and provided additional detail. He called me within 30 minutes and said they weren't able to find anything with even minimal effort on explaining the possible problems. After taking it to another reliable shop in Modesto they identified and fixed the problem for minimal cost and extensive explanation of the problem. I wouldn't trust any of the Mistlin Honda service team with ANYTHING. It seems even going to the manager is useless. If you have a need for service, contact the Auto Shop in Modesto, CA as they'll give you the trustworthy service you deserve. read more

They work on deals that are affordable to your budget, sometimes all day long, but they do get the job done because they care. Let me start by saying that as someone who believes in shopping locally, it's sad that I have to give these guys such a bad review. The bottom line with these guys is that unless you're there to buy a car that day, they have absolutely zero interest in helping you as was my experience this morning when I stopped in to ask if they could run a quick Carfax history on my vehicle which I bought from them just over 2 years ago. They basically told me to go home and do it myself because it costs them every time they run a check. Now, considering that selling cars is their business I'm pretty sure Mistlin has an unlimited account, meaning it would have cost them nothing extra to run a quick inquiry for me as a simple gesture of goodwill toward a past customer. Yeah, not so much. Anyhow, their shortsightedness will now cost them at least one sale after I've sold my car and go looking for my next new Honda. I've had much better experience dealing with both Oakland and San Francisco Honda, and will sadly now have to take my car buying dollars over to the Bay Area rather than spending them here locally. read more

I was amazed when looking at my past reviews that I never reviewed this place. Probably because I was so utterly disgusted at the time that I couldn't bring myself to relive the experience through the written word. My experience with Mistlin Honda starts with a good priced, low mileage SUV that I saw at Mistlin Honda. Contacted the used-car associate through e-mail and went down there the next day. They gave me fair trade in for my vehicle, and were pretty cool. The salesmen said it's a one owner carfax vehicle. It was near the end of the night, and with everything going on, I didn't ask him for a copy, just took his word for it. My fault, I know, trusting a salesmen. Upon further research of my own, this car had 3 owners. Quite a bit for a car with only 50,000 miles you would think. Whatever I guess, it still seemed like a good used car. Then, the fun began. The car wouldn't hold a idle, it wanted to die when it was cold(i test drove it on a warm day). It would want to die when I was pulling out into an intersection. Then, the cruise control got stuck. If you've never experienced that, I wouldn't recommend it. To there credit, they tried multiple times to fix the multiple problems. And I do mean MULTIPLE times. I never knew if the cruise control was fixed, once your cruise control sticks once, your pretty hesitant to try it again. The service department was understanding, but looking back, if you try to fix something but it never gets fixed, understanding doesn't cut it. You sold me a lemon, and your trying to cover yourself. After going back and forth; them trying to fix it,me taking it back because nothing was ever fixed, six months later I had it. I gave in. I went down there, after my vehicle dying again, and told them I need to get rid of this thing. I traded in the car for a new vehicle. I had to eat negative equity that I didn't have before I got into this mess with Mistlin, so I'll be paying for that for a few years. I was relatively satisfied though after it was all said and done. I had been lied too,wasted countless hours and miles going to Modesto to take the garbage car they sold to me to attempt (keyword:attempt) to be fixed. But, at least my life wasn't in constant danger from the death trap I had been sold. Honda's are good cars, Mistlin is a bad dealership, the Yelp reviews don't lie. Drive the few more miles and find another Honda dealership, stay away from here. Oh, and one more thing, this vehicle that constantly died on me from the moment cold weather hit, leaked oil, and had a sticky cruise control that luckily didn't cause a serious accident. Most of those problems which they unsuccessfully fixed over months of trying. I saw it at a used car dealership in Stockton a week later. Real classy Mistlin. Purchased a battery still under warranty, batteries not working they want me to bring in my car so they can exchange the battery. My car is not running because the battery doesn't work so now they don't want to honor their warranty terrible customer service. I purchased my Honda from them , no customer loyalty. 11/16/2016 After two days of calls back and forth I was able to get the issue resolved. Ok so where do I begin........... I bought my car here 2 yrs ago and have brought it back every 6 months for a service. Their waiting area is pretty comfortable. They have free water and coffee and vending machine for snacks. I have a toddler I've had to lug around with me so this is nice. They also have a play area for kids which is nicely stocked with toys and books! They also offer free wifi! how could anyone find themselves bored waiting for their car here?! And thats not even the best part. THEY HAVE A FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE! You can be dropped off and picked up anywhere in Modesto! I've been dropped and picked up from home once and once to the mall! The service guys have always been great explaining everything and prices to me. Service+waiting area+wifi+shuttle service=GREAT! love it! Now, where they absolutely suck is the car salesman. Even the guy who sold us our car 2 yrs ago sucks butt and he's still there! They don't smile at you and seem pretty pissed to be working there. Once while getting my car serviced I decided to get some help checking out the newer cars since we were thinking about trading in soon. I went into showroom and was ignored by many salesman and no one smiled at me. Finally asked for assistance and was met with reluctance to walk all the way outside. I'm guessing Mistlin Honda has marketing agreement with Yelp which gives them ability to sift out all of these bad reviews. The general manager, Dennis Lanigan, can be seen responding saying he wants to talk to those that have posted negative reviews, but just know if you do talk to him, if you challenge him in anyway or ask for licensing information (especially for his son) that they must provide, he'll block you and refuse to talk to you. Yep, pretty much your typical middle school behavior. If you have messaged me about this review, I will respond over the weekend with the licensing and other information you'll need to pursue a formal complaint against them, including for discrimination. If you need help filing a complaint, just direct message me and my father and I will help you. I'm already in touch with DMV's occupational licensing folks. --------------- I'll spare all the horrible details, but would suggest steering clear of this place. I was going to buy a car from them last night, but their finance manager totally lost it while we were trying to iron out the details of the transaction and he actually threw a pen towards my teenage daughter when she inquired as to the interest rate he offered on the loan and then tried to retract. Your typical bait and switch. During his temper tantrum, the finance guy also angrily threw a pad of paper on the floor and slammed a drawer with great force as he attempted to physically bully us. Yes, we did have our smart phones with us, thank goodness. As others have posted, there seems to be a discrimination component and I think they target a certain demographic that I'm part of w/ these tactics. The whole experience was extremely upsetting and we are actually fearful that their finance manager, a VERY LARGE individual weighing at least 400 pounds, has access to all our very private information. I unsuccessfully attempted to resolve the issue with the sales manager, Quinn Lanigan, that was there when this unfolded, but unfortunately as the general manager's son, he wasn't motivated to assist even after admitting he heard what the finance manager had done from the opposite side of the dealership. I think a simple apology with a promise of corrective action being taken with the OP would have been sufficient, but he had no need to offer it since it's not like his father is going to come down on him for not doing so. I've since spoken to his father, Dennis Lanigan, who is the General Manager and unfortunately he is refusing to provide required licensing information so I can file the proper consumer complaints. They are also refusing to provide the credit information they are required to give. I can see he (the GM) chimes in on here when reviews are left so I'm sure he'll have something to say about this post. I'm looking forward to it. Both he and his son seriously blocked my email address in what I believe is an attempt to spare his son from having licensing action taken against him. With what I have, I can't imagine that there won't be some sort of sanctions imposed against them. If you do go to this dealership, please just be very careful about allowing them to pull your credit report and don't put yourself in a situation where you could be subjected to what we were. Also, I'd advise reading every single line of anything you are asked to sign as they tried to slide a 6 year loan by me thinking I wouldn't notice. I've got 15 years lending experience myself so am well versed on general lending laws. The finance guy claimed to have only sent my information to one lender which would have resulted in just one hit to my credit, but Quinn Lanigan stated he had personally sent it to three lenders which would mean three credit hits according to what I can prove the finance guy said to me five minutes before. One of them was lying, I still just don't know which one YET. You just can't do this when someone's credit is on the line. I'm going to attempt to buy the car from a different dealership, but I still don't know how many times they hit my credit and caused the score to drop because they won't give me the information I need to determine this despite them being required to provide it. The possibility of my having to pay more to borrow is now very real. Anyway, please just proceed with extreme caution if you decide to visit this business. In my opinion, they seem to think licensing and consumer protection laws don't apply to them. I'm not sure the owner knows what's going on as he seems to be a stand up guy and a solid member of his local community. I recently started having issues with my Honda Civics' AC unit. I contacted Mistlin and asked about setting an appt up to have it looked at and diagnosed JUST diagnosed. The man who I will leave unnamed let me know that just to diagnose it would be $480 some dollars. I said are you positive JUST to diagnose he said yes. I proceeded to schedule just to save me a slot. I contacted Tracy Honda, and asked the same question and they came back with $229 to diagnose, now that seems more like it. I double checked just to be sure, and the were informative and told me what the cost could look at if further repairs were needed. That's where I took my business to. This is not the first time we have a bad experience with Mistlin, my fiancé was looking to purchase a vehicle back in 2019. The sales rep was rude and curt and belittled us, he lost out on a good commission that day. We made our way to Tracy Honda and he purchased his vehicle there. This location has helped my family for years buy nearly a dozen cars however I personally own a Honda and will still drive out of town to go to the other dealerships like Stockton or Tracy. Honestly due to a simple Loss. I had a replacement battery given to me under the warranty and the replacement battery also had a problem in under a year so they refused to swap it out. I went to Les Schwab to buy one and never took my business back. I really needed another car since we had been a one-car family for about 10 years. I went to my local Honda dealer because I had such a great experience with my 2005 Honda Civic Hybrid those many years ago. Mistlin Honda, my local Honda dealer showed me how I could get another Honda Civic Hybrid for a very reasonable cost and with absolutely no hassle. I drove away that same day in my brand new 2015 Honda Civic Hybrid and couldn't be happier. I've had the car for a couple of months and am very pleased with the workmanship, up to date technology. And great gas mileage. Even after driving both around town and to the Bay Area a few times, my gas mileage has been consistently high. I've taking my brand new car Honda Civic for past year & 1/2 regarding tire sensor light on 24/7. Every time call within 2 hour car is ready for it up.... Issue not even trying to be resolved or listened to. At the point after year & 1/2 point of frustrations over such a little issue. Manager involved still driving a car with tire light on 24/7... Ridculous! When their Sales is one that told me the car wanted was sitting on Stocktons showroom floor when I went there to buy... Even though I work around corner I'll start taking day off & driving my car to another Honda dealership for service. Been with Mustangs & Cadiacllic over 13 years didn't know you can't use any Honda to service your car even if it's not where you bought it. If you didn't buy your Honda from them horrible horrible service department customer service! Requested a manager to call me waited 2 months no call... When I called to ask for a manager voicemail on way to work response back rude was you know it's 7:30 in the morning to expect a manager to be in!!! Had my car for 4 days for a spoiler replacement not even call to update took me half day to get someone on phone rude well your service guy is off today... STILL drove my car away from their service department light back on within a day!! After year and a 1/2 they've never even looked further into the issues & personally told theres nothing they can do for it that it goes off & on. No it doesn't!!! Done even having to arguing over a minor issue on brand new car. I know everyone in this area & my family we will take our business else where.
