I enjoyed working with the dentists and one of the hygienists here. I think their issue is that they've grown so fast, they can't keep up with the demand. The back end of the office is a mess. 1- MISSING PRODUCT: I paid $200 for new retainers and never received them. They called me once and I missed the call but never got a VM or a follow up that my retainers are in. I had to call them months later to follow up. 2- NO FOLLOW THROUGH: I told them SEVERAL times across 7 months that I moved out of state. By the time they called me back for the retainers; it was the day I was moving and I couldn't stop by to get them. I told them to cancel my future cleaning as well. A few months later, I'm getting calls and emails saying I have an appointment. Then I call and say again I moved. I had to repeat this process like 4 times in order to get them to put my profile as inactive. 3- NO ORGANIZATION: several times throughout my time with them, I was being called the day of my appointment asking to move it. They don't allow last minute cancellations without a fee, but are allowed to do whatever they want with scheduling. I've also had it happen twice where I made appointments (one for a cleaning and one for Invisalign) and they never scheduled it in their system. I always have my work calendar out as I schedule so it's always in my calendar It wasn't until I called them as I didn't get a confirmation call which I thought was weird, that I found out it never got schedule. So I had to reschedule for another day/time because the original wasn't available. AS OF TODAY- I finally got my profile moved to inactive after receiving more calls to come in for a checkup, AND still never received retainers. At this point, I can't even use the retainers anymore. My teeth have shifted. Very disappointing how their staff lacks the organization and follow through they need for this practice. I enjoyed the work with the 3 dentists and the 1 dental hygienist I had. If it weren't for the quality of work they did, I would have stopped coming there a long time ago. My experience trying to get an appointment here was terrible. I was a former patient and wanted to book an urgent care appointment. They said they did not have any openings until December so they referred me to someone else. Fair. But that dentist is out of network for me so I want to get my regular work done at Miswak. They said they would need to call me back rather than just booking the December appointment. When they called the next day they referred the same dentist that was out of network and now claimed that they are booked through June. I have a friend who is able to get emergency appointments and other appointments regularly. So this seems shady to me. read more

Came here with my mother in law. She had a check up and upon getting her teeth checked, it was determined that she needs a deep clean. We wanted to schedule it, but they started saying how there's no availability. I asked them when the next available appointment is and they kept saying they don't have anything soon. They said they'll call us. They obviously didn't want to take on the job because there was a lot of cleaning to do. But this is a dental office! How can you just take someone for a checkup and say it's urgent to get the deep clean, but you won't do it? But instead of saying they won't take her on as a client, they just kept saying how in case of an availability opening up, they'll call us. It's been over three weeks and nothing. Obviously we went to another dentist, but what a disappointment and waste. Shame on you. read more

The doctors take their time to go over and explain everything to patients. My wife and I moved from Nashville, TN a few years ago, we tried a few dentists in the city (Dental Salon and a couple of other I can't remember at the moment) Dr. Riyal is the best dentist...If I would of have a dentist like him in Nashville I probably be less anxious about going to the dentist and have more choppers. If you have kids who are afraid of the dentist or if you yourself are afraid of the dentist, do yourself a favor and try this place. I came to this clinic because it is close to my house but I do not recommend it. They pushed so much for reviews right after the first appointment, I know is because if you wait to several, your review may change. Everything they did was cheap. They were doing some preparation for a mayor work they would do in one of my todo but wherever they put felt off, I called to let them know and they wanted to charge another $100 dollars when they knew the bad quality of the materials they used. Everyone at this office is incredibly friendly and polite. They know how to make you feel comfortable, provide enough information without making everything overwhelming, and ensure that your visit is good despite how long it's been or how much "help" you need. At other dentists, you're left in a chair for hours at a time while they take care of other patients to make you feel like you're being taken care of despite being shoved aside - here, your appointment time is yours and they take care of everything in a streamlined fashion, beginning to end. Despite having high demand, they're easy to work with and reasonably priced. They also seem to do a bunch for the community and have very flexible schedules. I've never left a review for a dentist before, but I loved my experience at Miswak Dentistry. Sometimes dentist offices can feel like they're just trying to squeeze you of all the money you have, but I didn't feel like that at all here. I also like that they're open on Saturdays! Dr. Riyal was super nice AND super knowledgable. He explained things to me about my teeth and walked me through all my teeth xrays which I truly have never had done before. He also told me that there's absolutely no reason I need to remove my bottom wisdom teeth unless they're bothering me which I appreciated. I felt like he was such a nice, smart, and HONEST dentist. Always hated coming to the dentist, and even more always hated feeling embarrassed by the dentist especially with my cavity prone teeth, but after a lot of research I went to Miswak. It has been the best experience. The front office is so nice and patient. They go over every part of the treatment plan regarding your insurance, and they answer every little question without any hesitation. I've asked so many times to try to move up any of my appointments and they always try and never get annoyed about me asking. Dr. Riyal is awesome. I read so many reviews and heard so many things and wow I was really impressed. He goes over everything with you during your treatment, he doesn't assume anything, listens to everything, really just makes you feel comfortable. Sorry guys, I'm not feelin the love for Miswak Dentistry. I found Miswak on Yelp because I needed some emergency dental work. I've only ever needed emergency dental work once before and I figured the same thing was happening this time. I had a ton of pain in my bottom right gum or molar or somewhere. The gum tissue hurt, it hurt when I bit down, everything. The entire area was even so swollen that my cheek was swollen - you could see it when you looked at my face. So, Miswak seemed like the place to be since their reviews are great and they were able to get me in on very short notice. I arrived, they accommodated my insurance (even though I was out of network) and worked with me to get some full-mouth x-rays to see what was going on in my mouth. So, the hygienist took me in back and started with x-rays. I wasn't sure where the doctor was, but she asked me several questions and then went about her business with the x-ray taking. After a ton of time (full-mouth takes awhile) she left and I assumed I was waiting for the dentist to take a look at the films and come talk to me about them. Once the dentist arrived, he told me my x-rays looked great. No signs of cavities, infections, root issues, etc. I explained once again that my mouth was killing me so he finally decided to take a look at my teeth. He only had his hand in my mouth for a couple of seconds before he said that I likely had an ulcer in the back of my mouth. That would explain why the gum was inflamed and painful. He also decided that, since I grind my teeth at night, I needed a night guard to sleep with and the pain would go away since it seemed like the pain when I bit down was related to TMJ. And that was it. Nothing for the pain, no diagnosis of an infection even though my gum tissue was inflamed and sore, that was it. Less than one minute of actually looking in my mouth with his poker and mirror and that was his diagnosis. I opted to get the night guard since I have always had teeth-grinding issues, so I was fitted for that and told it would take a week to arrive. Once it arrived, I was going to come in for a cleaning and test out the night guard. Fast forward one week, I called to ask if I could come in for my appointment earlier to get my night guard and teeth cleaning. I was told that my night guard hadn't arrived yet and that they would call me when it had so I could get it and do the cleaning at once. Two weeks go by... no call. I call after Christmas and leave a message on their machine that says they'll be back in the office on December 26, which is when they'd return my call. No return call. I call again on December 30 and they answer, put me on hold for about five minutes and then begin to explain that there was some kind of mixup with their lab and the night guard still hasn't arrived, they're so sorry for not calling, etc. Still no word on when it will actually arrive. Still waiting for that to happen, actually. They said they'd call once it arrived in the office and I still haven't heard from anyone. So, I went to another dentist because my mouth still hurts, there's still a sore back there and my jaw still aches when I bite down. I called Miswak to send my x-rays to my new dentist, they said they'd do it in "five minutes" and I'm still not sure if the new dentist has actually received them. I know they may not have completed it in an hour, but over a day has gone by and no one has sent anything yet? All in all, not one of the best experiences I've ever had at a doctor or dentist. The receptionist is really friendly and attempts to be helpful, but it seems like it's just a facade. Miswak isn't really the place to go for "real" dental work. A cleaning, perhaps, and some periphery maintenance but not for anything serious or grand. Turns out, I have a bone fragment protruding from my gum and that's what's making my mouth sore, painful and creating a "bump" back there. The dentist totally missed it and just said it was an "ulcer" as opposed to something that has to be surgically removed. read more

You even get to watch Netflix while waiting for your exam! It really feels like they care about their patients, and they're full of good tips about dental hygiene. (Gums receding? I've been in Chicago for over 3 years and have yet to find the perfect hair stylist or doctor. Dentist also used to be on the list but has been knocked off since my recent visit to Miswak. I can't think of better things to do than going in for a check up to the dentist - having someone put strange things in your mouth while asking you countless questions about your flossing habits. It sounds almost as awesome as waiting in line at the DMV with really *pleasant* people all day long. Somehow though, Miswak made my experience completely painless. The scheduling is a breeze - I was able to book online through Zocdoc. I have to talk on the phone a lot for my job so when it comes to personal tasks, I avoid talking to people on the phone like the plague. The location is ideal for me because I can walk from my house. I also showed up a few minutes early but since I was able to fill out all of my paperwork online (another bonus) it was an easy waiting experience. They got me in just minutes later. Everyone there was incredibly friendly and patient. I had a lot of questions since as mentioned earlier, I haven't found the right dentist until now. Everything is also really high tech which was unexpected. Or maybe I've been living in the dinosaur ages for dentistry? While I waited in between my x-rays and cleaning, they pulled a screen in front of me and asked if I wanted to watch Netflix. Ummm.. if there comes a day that I say no to Netflix, please put me out of my misery. So as I'm making my way through a Parks and Rec episode, Dr. Riyal strolls over and starts showing me the INSIDE of my teeth on the same screen I was previously viewing. Okay then? That's pretty nerdtastically awesome. He said my teeth looked good but then immediately asked me if I suffered from jaw pain or headaches. I explained to him I've suffered for years with this problem and have seen countless specialists. He immediately determined I needed a mouth guard because of the muscles in my jaw. I agreed to it, even if that meant an expensive purchase. They fit my teeth immediately and called me today to say it has arrived. That may be a medical overshare but I will probably start crying in public if I can get rid of my crippling headaches. Dr. Riyal spent so much time going through different things I should try to help with my jaw issues and my sensitive gums. I actually felt like someone was listening and cared. I happily strolled back home after my appointment and instead of feeling annoyed that I just had to go to the dentist... I wanted to rush to my TV and finish the episode I hadn't finished while waiting. Thanks Miswak, I now get to mark a great dentist off of my list of things to find in the Chicagoland area. read more

If I moved far away... somewhere warm... I'd still come to Chicago twice a year for my cleaning and check-ups at Miswak! They do such a great job and I TRUST them. They tell me what to do when a cavity starts to form (usually floss more... of course), when my toothpaste is too harsh, when there are any other issues. I've been to other places where they're happy to start drilling instead of telling you how to take care of an issue before it becomes an invasive and expensive problem. They're friendly, professional, and though I have insurance, I believe they work out plans with people who may not have insurance. I can't say enough good things about this dentist. I have been a patient for 10 years. I have mostly just had cleanings (thank goodness), but have also had two major dental emergencies involving broken teeth which needed crowns and one root canal. Their prices are humanitarian and the care and work that is given is top notch. I have seen both Dr. Riyal and his new partner Dr. Kaminski. Both are caring, kind and trustworthy. After putting off the dentist for so long , Im Very happy I found this place. The entire staff is wonderful, from the front desk to the assistants. Dr. Riyal is a top professional and did a great job on my big list of dental work. I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled (zero pain) 2 root canal treatments, crowns, some cavities and a cleaning. He took the extra time to help me avoid more root canals in a few servery deep cavities. Appointment setting was very easy and they were also understanding of changes that needed to be made. They also were good about setting me up on a payment plan which was very important due to the amount of work that needed to be done. Super clean and comfortable office with easy parking out front. I could go on and on about this place...Ill suggest it to all my friends. Oh ya... I love that there is TV in each room. Helps the time pass. I appreciate this because I have a lot on my calendar. Cleanliness and new technology is top notch. If you don't care much for the new x-ray machines, then you might care about which Netflix show/movie you want to have on while they perform on your teeth. No, really. The Netflix world is your oyster. The options are overwhelming but appreciated. By the way, Dr. Riyal might make you love going to the dentist. His bedside manner along with his expertise, and genuine patient care make you feel downright comfortable. No judgey questions/remarks...focuses on maintaining client's dignity. I also appreciate the transparency of treatment plans as well as associated costs. Best Dentist Experience I've Ever Had. Everyone here was very friendly and helpful. I was shocked to learn about the annual membership program which included 2 xrays, 2 cleanings and 50% off most work. During my cleaning, I got to watch one of my favorite shows on Netflix. They also displayed my xrays digitally so I was able to zoom in and see problem areas at different levels of detail. Doctor Riyal also had a wireless camera that allowed me to see a hidden cavity on the tv screen in real time. I was very impressed and felt well informed after my visit on how I could better care for my teeth. I am going back in a month to take care of my cavity and look forward to the proper care and treatment I received. The only down side I experienced was when there was learning students or new employee who was still learning were not good at assisting me. However, other staffs were so good at their job. The dentist was thorough, my cleaning and filling were pretty easy for someone as dentist-phobic as I am. They have Netflix for you to watch, though you can't hear or see it during the exam and cleaning but it makes it easier to find your happy place if you watch something funny before the tech starts with the horrible noises in your mouth. The office called the day before my appointment ask asked me to move my appointment up by 30 minutes. I got there 15 minutes before my new appointment time just to be seen 15 minutes later than my original appointment but I understand that they're busy... The dentist is likely equally as thorough with each patient as he was with me. No complaints! read more
