My previous dentist moved to the suburbs so I decided to try out a new place. I was so disappointed with the service and would not recommend. I will be looking for other places in the wicker park area. First off, weird vibe inside. BUT would turned me off was the fact it took me 2 HOURS to get my teeth cleaned. I had an appointment at 3pm, they did X-rays. Then I sat for about 1.5 hours until the dentist finally came in. I was hoping to get clarification and straight up help with my intensive dental history. But I was interrupted by a rude dentist who gave me nothing other than "floss more". People were scrambling throughout the office, and I'm a typically patient person but I do not like blatant excuses which they had one for everything. I asked if they could not use as much water - "they can't control the machine", I sat by myself - "emergency" which is fine but be proactive about this. They also had the student floss my teeth which encompasses him wedging the floss over the crevices of my teeth - not actually between my teeth. And then out fluoride on as the dentist was too busy. They do not read or care about your needs when you provide them before and during the appointment. Please be aware of this if you are someone who has anxiety at the dentist that they fully take advantage of this and any lack of knowledge you may have. I'm genuinely concerned by the ethical standards of this practice. I highly encourage anyone impacted to file a complaint to the Division of Professional Regulation: https://idfpr.illinois.gov/admin/dpr/dprcomplaint.html If you suspect this practice is recommending unnecessary dental work - ask for copies of your x-rays. Ask for an itemized bill. Get a second opinion. If the second opinion is wildly different from the treatment plan they presented you, file a complaint with the IDFPR so they're aware these dentists/dental technicians have a pattern of trying to take advantage of their clients/client's insurance. Here's what happened to me and you can confirm from the other yelp reviews this is a pattern with their practice. I went in for a routine cleaning, spent over 1.5hrs doing xrays, then they tried to upsell me on unnecessary procedures (apparently I had 10+ cavities that required fillings). One of the dental technicians raised her voice at me on my way out. She appeared agitated and frustrated. I kept my mouth shut because I just wanted to leave and she was causing a scene. I noticed they have an alternate practice called Park Smiles Dental. The reviews on Yelp are also very different than the Google reviews. This review will probably get buried but wanted to share the link. Regulatory bodies exist for a reason and if a dental practices is exploiting the grey areas of what's clinically needed treatment to maximize their profit margins (like suggesting I have 10+ cavities when I have none or only 1-2), that's unethical and should be reported. read more

I went in for my second cleaning today and unfortunately, they tried to scam me as many reviews indicate happened to them. My first cleaning 6 months ago, I was told my teeth were in great shape. They took x-rays as I was a new patent, and the dentist explained I had few minor spots on my back teeth to watch that hadn't developed into cavities, and could be reversed with diligent flossing and brushing. I've only had a few cavities in my life and was very meticulous about flossing and brushing the past 6 months with that advice in mind. Today when I went back for my second cleaning, I saw a new doctor who gave a lecture on flossing and brushing before looking into my mouth. After poking around for a minute, they proceeded to tell me that my prior fillings needed replaced immediately. They had the receptionist come out and inform me that I had 10 cavities that need filled, which would cost me thousands out of pocket with my dental insurance. All while the dentist & receptionist stood a couple feet away. There were a couple of red flags that stood out to me, saying things like "we're going to take pictures and show you to prove this" without taking any updated xrays. Needless to say, I was extremely skeptical of the "treatment plan" presented and did not book another appointment. They did not even follow up via email with this recommended treatment plan, so take that for what you will. I'm so disappointed because I didn't want to believe the "scam" reviews and had a great first experience, but I will be looking for a different dentist for a cleaning in 6 months. read more

Visit this place because gum sores, irritation and a swollen face. All they cared and talked about was X-ray this X-ray that, even though I provided them with recent X-rays, they insisted of doing more, $$$$! The "dentist" Brandon Siaj, who took awhile to step into the examine room create a huge list of unnecessary procedures he was ordering for me to get down, so he could scam me out of my money and my insurance. He did nothing for me, then he walks out the room. Didn't address any of my concerns and walks out the room. I was left alone with the front desk clerk who was only showing me the bills of all the unnecessary and unneeded procedures, thousands of dollars worth. They would not answer my question about what I should do about my swollen face and how I couldn't eat because it swells up worse. My gums are irritated, swollen face and the "dentist" refused to prescribe antibiotics. he insisted I should get a deep cleaning. A deep cleaning on irritated gums and mouth. Isn't that the craziest thing you've ever heard? You can't perform deep cleaning on irritated gums! We all know that. This place only care about how much money they can scam u and the insurance out of. They care nothing about the patients, not one bit! How are they allowed to practice this way? Dr Raj is NOT an Endodontist and should NOT be performing root canals. He perforated my tooth, and failed to tell me this important information, then proceeded to sell me a crown on top. My periodontist discovered it via xray and was shocked by what happened. The tooth needs an extraction/implant that will cost thousands of dollars. I am still awaiting a refund. They have so many good reviews because they bribe people with prizes. Beware. read more

This place is definitely a scam. It had been some time since my last cleaning, and I went in fully aware that I might have a cavity or two. I took a chance on this place regardless of the bad reviews... definitely shouldn't have. After checking me out, I was presented with an estimated bill for $4,000 for two crowns and like 6 fillings, plus some mouth guards they made seem medically necessary and a deep cleaning - which has never been suggested to me before. It was outrageous. They didn't even do X-rays and suggested all of these treatments. I left and they didn't even ever follow up with me, probably because they knew it was all complete BS. Needless to say, I found a different dentist who checked me out several months later and found a single cavity. One. Do not trust these people or Dr Raj. I waited six months to write this review until I saw another dentist and could confirm my suspicions. Despite having a rather weird oral health history, my biannual appointment is normally pretty uneventful. The takeaway is almost always that my teeth are looking good but I could floss a bit more. When I went to WPDG six months ago I was told (not kindly) that my teeth were in such a state that I'd have to go back every 4 months for the foreseeable future for cleanings and get 4 of my fillings replaced ASAP or they could crack or fall out at any time (much of the work they said I needed was not covered by insurance). I was shown pictures of my teeth and gums that they took to further demonstrate the urgency with which I needed to address these issues. Despite that, I didn't end up going through with the work because I just had a weird, bad feeling about the whole thing. Instead, I decided to wait six months until I was eligible for my next cleaning so that I could see a different dentist for a second opinion. Lo and behold, when I went for my cleaning today with my new dentist and casually asked how my fillings were looking, I was told they were in excellent condition and that the dentist who did them did a really great job. I was also told my teeth were looking good besides that, as well, no issues. I tell every dentist I've ever been to how uncomfortable and nervous I am at the dentist due to the extensive dental work I've had done over the years, so it is extremely upsetting to me that a dental professional I was supposed to be able to trust to look out for my best interests was so willing to deceive me and totally happy to put me through the significant stress and anxiety of multiple unnecessary dental procedures to make extra money off of me. I'm so thankful I didn't get the work done and found another dentist that didn't try to rip me off. TL;DR: WPDG deliberately tried to mislead me about my oral health and have me get dental work done that I didn't need that would have cost me hundreds out of pocket. I came here for a first-time patient visit a few weeks ago. I'll start off by saying the staff is friendly, the facility is nice, and the technology all seems advanced. It had been about 4 years since my last dental cleaning and I wanted to fling a place closer to my new house. The appointment took about 2.5 hours and I didn't even get to have a cleaning. They took tons of scans with high-tech equipment including a 3D scan (since I was interested in Invisalign), but they didn't do X-rays. They recommended expensive treatments including deep cleanings every 3 months and replacement of all existing cavity fillings. Altogether, it would've maxed out my insurance almost immediately and left me with high out of pocket expenses. I decided to get a second opinion at another practice recommended by a friend and I am SO happy that I did! My out-of-pocket treatment costs will be about $100 instead of $1000+ for the year. read more

I endured the most excruciatingly painful dental procedure in my entire life--a root canal by Dr Gopisetty-- some time ago. Afterwards, I was bilked out of $5,000 for an ill-constructed bridge that failed repeatedly. The bridge was sent back to the lab repeatedly --after coming loose. When I asked what would be done other than sending the obviously troublesome bridge back repeatedly I was told they would work with me. They did not. Without notice, Gopisetty switched me to another person-- a doctor I presume--who NEVER even had the courtesy to introduce himself. Dr Raj? They made zero effort to fix the problem. Then quarantine came and I still went for a cleaning despite the unresolved issue. The last straw was when even the cleaning was terrible. Usually my teeth feel really smooth when I get a cleaning. The new hygienist barely touched the electrical tooth polisher to my mouth. The cleaning was even a failure. Before that cleaning I even got a thrash-like mouth infection after being seen. They don't value customers who patronize them and they're not professional in resolving issues. Go elsewhere. read more

I know everybody says "I don't usually write reviews", but I don't. However, I felt it was necessary after the experience I had today. Before the appt, I got a text from them along the lines of "your insurance is out of network, but the cleaning today is estimated to be 100% covered". I had got the feeling I would be on the hook for something after that, but I decided to go because it had been awhile since my last teeth cleaned. Essentially, I was taken back into a room shortly after my appointment time, had someone take pictures of every tooth and do x-rays for 45 minutes (she was lovely), the doctor came in and discussed the photos, he left (also a nice guy), and then someone entirely new came in. That person took 15-20ish minutes to explain what the doctor had recommended and presented me with a $3K bill to clean my teeth. When I told her I was told I was "estimated" to be covered for a cleaning, she told me she was sorry for the miscommunication. I should've been more concerned when I walked in initially to see the doctor and another staff member combing through negative Google reviews. Wow. I was able to get both myself and my husband in right away. I never felt a sense of unease and they were sweet. I knew going ok I would need work. The cleaning I got from Paige was the best I've ever received. When the doctor came in he was quick but knew exactly what he was doing. You can tell he's been doing it for a bit. Let my start by saying I despise the dentist and have been avoiding it for over 4 years. I'm 43 and knew it was time and a co-worker of mine referred me there saying that the staff was wonderful and kind. Totally true. From the minute I walked in today, they were nothing but sweet and understanding of my fear of dentists. Because I waited 4 years... I needed quiet a bit done.. but even that they came up with a broken-up plan and broken-up payment plan (my dental insurance covered a majority of it and I totally disagree with any reviews saying that this place is a "scam" or taking advantage of people"). I had one quadrant done today by Dr.Raj and he couldn't have been sweeter and more gentle. Even stopping a few time when he knew I was having anxiety and giving me time to calm down. I came here in January 2021. The place is clean and the staff nice. I was told that i had three cavities, loose fillings, needed a deep cleaning and that it would cost nearly $3000 even with my dental insurance! I have had two cavities my entire life (pretty decent for 45 years young) so i wasn't sure that I believed all of it! I had Careington insurance, which I promptly cancelled when i got home. So i ended up changing insurance to United, and I called up my old dentist who didn't take the prior coverage. Low and behold, no cavities, no loose fillings and she was able to do a cleaning without ganking me in the rear end for $3k. Again flabbergasted that my dentist didn't mention cavities, loose fillings or the need for a deep clean, i began to ask - how could this other office have said so much was wrong and yet you're saying everything is great! Well..... writing is on the wall that in FACT, I did not need those procedures. I went through my x-rays, went through the images, and I did NOT need $3k worth of dental work. He was adamant I contact him should I be in discomfort. His front desk assistant, Diana, was great in letting me know about what to expect billing wise, and they always give you a courtesy call to remind you of your appointment. Odd - I thought that I had reviewed this place but I guess not. This was my dentist from 2003-2005, and silly me - I couldn't remember the name of this place so I had to go into my online bill payments through my bank just to find it. All I really had done in my brief time with them was cleanings and I had a couple fillings done by Dr. Dortch. Also, when I was in between insurance companies, they worked with me to set up a payment plan for my root canal which at the time, was greatly appreciated. No major complaints - friendly staff and good dental work. The only minor complaint isn't actually me but my boyfriend at the time (now, fiance) went in for a dental cleaning and they charged him even though he had insurance and really should have had it for free. read more

I moved to TX last November, and went without dental insurance. During that time, a root canal performed elsewhere was showing signs of infection, but it was never severe. As soon as I moved back to Chicago and was accepted for Medicaid, I knew I needed to see someone. I did a walk-in/no appointment, which I generally don't advise, but they were able to see me within 30 minutes. Dr. Gopisetty confirmed that the tooth would need to be extracted. I was VERY reluctant since my last extraction was performed by a total sadist. But, Dr. Gopisetty had the tooth out within 15 minutes, and I DID NOT FEEL A THING. It was seriously only 3/10 in terms of pain. He was also very accommodating and gave me his personal number, in case I ran into any issues. Overall, very pleased! Thank you so much :) read more

Please take into consideration that I have NOT been treated by the dentist or staff! My three star rating is actually the result of the front-end patient experience. Wicker Park Dental Group's website has an "automated" system for creating appointments online. I requested an appointment on Tuesday (5/24) for the following Tuesday. Just in case, I called prior to leaving to confirm. The office hours say 9am-5pm, but I called at 9:10am and no one answered (not a great business practice). 9:30am: Someone picked up. I mentioned that I was simply looking to confirm an appointment. Her response was cold and seemingly rehearsed "Oh, that system doesn't really work - we get an email and we call YOU to confirm." Okay, so at this point my question was why no one had called to confirm my appointment ... They had a week. The only thing that she would offer was a 2pm appointment two weeks from now. Since I was last in for a checkup the office had been rehabbed and I was pleasantly surprised with the changes, more efficient use of the building space. I've never written a review but I would hate for someone else to have an experience similar to mine. I called Wicker Park Dental group and spoke with a receptionist. I explained to her in detail the issue I was having and that I was concerned that I may require an oral surgeon, she assured me that "if anything, Dr Gopisetty specializes in oral surgery". Feeling assured I scheduled a same day appointment. I want to make this review as brief as possible. In short DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU REQUIRE ANYTHING OTHER THAN A BASIC DENTAL PROCEDURE. DR Gopisetty attempted an extraction on an impacted wisdom tooth with an exposed nerve. THE PAIN I EXPERIENCED IN HIS CHAIR WAS UNBEARABLE. He should have referred me to an actual oral surgeon for this procedure or prescribed an antibiotic and proceeded with the extraction at a later date. I believe he attempted to do the extraction knowing that I may experience pain of the worst kind, simply for profit. He wanted to collect the money for an extraction he knew should have been referred out to someone with the ability to perform it HUMANELY. I hate to leave such a negative review but Dr Gopisetty left me in more pain than when I arrived and then sent me on my way too late in the evening to seek treatment elsewhere after BUTCHERING ME AND AGGRAVATING MY WISDOM TOOTH NERVE. I don't recommend coming here. Find another dental office. I have amazing dental insurance and have never had to pay out of pocket for anything...until here. Even when my appointment was specifically for a covered bi-annual cleaning, they ended up charging me for it, saying that because the hygienist went above and beyond and went underneath the gums, it is considered a follow up to a previous appointment. Thus, it was not a basic cleaning procedure. Didn't bother telling me before. It's not the cost or price, but just shady business. You should always expect to pay out of pocket here, because they'll find some way to make it seem that way.
