Loveeeee Mitchell's. I work in the downtown area and have been a frequent flyer here for the last 3+ years. Every single person that's ever been behind the counter has been extremely kind and helpful. I prefer this coffee house over others in the area because it just feels so cozy and inviting when you walk in. First time in Downtown Lakeland this morning. While walking around watching the Saturday Morning Market vendors get set up I stumbled upon this gem. Mitchells is a welcome contrast to the Starbucks routine, a quiet easy-going home-town place with wooden tables and chairs. Several artistic creations for sale on the walls, flanking a tall bookcase with reading materials. Large dining floor with several tables. Order and pay at the counter, take a number to your table and they will bring your order to you. Although at over eight bucks for a huge lemonade glass and a bare ham omelet with no toast or potatoes on the side is a bit high, the experience was worth it. The tasty omelet arrived quickly. Coffee is health food! I love going to Mitchell's for a coffee and sometimes quick breakfast, they have Vegi-tastic breakfast burritto that is just great. Sometimes they are really busy and the staff is so friendly they treat you like you're the only one there. A great local hang out or starting point for the Saturday Farmers market. read more

I think we visited every coffee place in town this time...and last am after staying at Terrace Hotel...we found here. Awesome coffee..iced Tia chi!!! w soy milk ..yum! I starred at there carrot cake because it looked amazing!!#! I'm still thinking about it a month later lol. My daughter who's a SEU student and I got the homemade quiche and it was incredible. The staff ...at least the blonde haired women ..was super sweet and atmosphere pretty cozy... Definately recommend! read more

I stopped in here recently as I had some time to kill in the area. The atmosphere was great, and I can really see myself getting things done here if I were around more often. I had just eaten, so I didn't try any of their food, but I did have an ice tea. What I really appreciated was that it came with free refills, and a to-go cup when I was ready to leave. The reason why I knocked a star off was because my initial greeting/conversation with the staff wasn't the best. When I first walked in, no one greeted me (and the register/counter is right by the door, and no one was there ordering). Then when I went to order, I mentioned that I didn't know what to order because I wanted something light, and asked for a suggestion, but the young lady said, "okay", and continued talking to her co-worker. This went on for about a minute, and she finally came back to take my order. It was pretty bothersome at the time, especially because the rest of the experience was really nice.
