Manchurian Chinese Fried Rice and I forgot the other one above
    A'Yanna E.

In celebration of Indian holidays we met at this vegetarian restaurant and the Indians I was with stated this is fast food Indian food with north and south dishes, but that it's not that great. As a person not familiar with these vegetarian dishes & dessert spread I rate it a 4. I thought all our dishes were delicious and served in good timing! The portion sizes were large. If you had room for dessert or snacks, they had a great spread I'd never seen before and they're probably really tasty. I hope the cases of snacks & desserts are kept sanitary it looked a bit questionable as a frequent restaurant goer. Great place to check out! I highly recommend. Go, enjoy!!

Picked a small catering order ( veg Hakka noodles, veg Manchurian gravy, veg fried rice & veg hara bhara kabab) Food was really delicious and made as it should. Owner Mr Sharma has very pleasant personality, if you ever had a chance to dine at his NanChing(now closed) you would know how well he knows his food and customers. If you want a break with everything sweet gravy at Indian stores you should definitely try this place.

Makki ki roti and Sarson Ka Saag
    Sanchit K.

Located right at the heart of Newark ave, this is one of the go to locations for the people here preferring vegetarian food. The ambiance of the place isn't that great, feels too old and honestly would be good if they decide to renovate it soon. The menu does offer plenty of options which transport you back into India! Also the menu cards should be updated as they are mostly torn out! I had ordered Sarson Ka Saag with Makki ki roti. The service was prompt while the cashier was pretty friendly and courteous. The saag was well cooked and had the right amount of oil and butter whereas it was accompanied by 2 makki ki roti( corn roti). The makki ki roti was well prepared with the right amount of ghee applied over it and was crisp! Overall a pretty interesting place to try out some good vegetarian food, hope to try out more of their menu items in the future!

This place in Jersey city is one of my favorites for sweets and quick Indian snack fare, especially since it's a short drive for me. The food is delicious and the service is friendly with a smile. Things I love here: all their bengali sweets! (Big sweet fanatic alert) Things I like here: chole bhature and channa, Raj kachori, schezwan noodles. Mango lassi is also the usual and good. Did not like: moong dal kachori ( I was expecting a much crispy version, maybe a different type of kachori), aloo tikki chat (they had chole instead of ragda pattice and the tikki was a bit too hard for my liking). The Falooda drink was too milky with lot more vermicelli than usual). Tip: There is a paan shop right next door for a after meal "meetha paan" experience.

This place deserves zero stars and should be avoided. We ordered the Tava Aloo Chaat after reading the description that potatoes will be tossed with chutneys, lime and spices and what we get is just fried potatoes. When we complained that the food doesn't match the description then the server took it back and brought it with a wedge of lime and chutney on the side. What a disappointment!!

Always a pleasure eating at this wonderfully authentic Indian restaurant! Their food quality and taste never disappoints and the service is quick and very hospitable. Some of our favorite go-to dishes are their chilly cheese toast, Gujarati thaali, gobhi paratha, SPDP chat, and cold coffee. If you're missing India, this is the place to visit! Very clean and bright ambiance with a great variety of food items. Def one of my top favorites!

If you want really good Sweets, especially Ladu's. This is not the place to Goto. I was disappointed in the ladu's. I looked forward to this. Drove a long way. They tasted horrible. And I then drove all the way to Brooklyn in my quest to find great a Ladu's. Ladu's are a staple In the desi community and if you can't do that right. I don't know what to say. Here is a photo of the two Ladu's and you can tell which one tastes better. Shake my head.

We went on a weekday night and it was empty. We wanted to eat some chats. We had their samosa channa chat and it was okay. It was a lot of flavor and with a lot of tamarind chutney. The dahi puri was cold and very sweet. I am not sure if I want to go back.

Came here on memorial day actually with fam. We were looking for food on Newark ave and thought this looked good. Walked in and got seated. However, you have to walk up to the counter to order once you're ready. Not knowing it's a vegetarian restaurant, I tried asking for a meat special curry, oops. Once I knew that everything is vegetarian, I just ordered a dosa, thali and a popular curry recommended to me - paneer masala. Because the menu was a bit hard to read. Everything was in ABCs but I didn't know the words on the menu if you know what I mean. Overall my family loved all the dishes and it was plenty for the three of us. My favorite was the paneer cheese masala curry. Want to come back and try the desserts in the window.

This place is the most incredible place to have Indian Chaat and street-style food. I tried their dahi puri, paneer starters. Everything was tuned to perfect cooking and taste.

Flavorful sauce that was creamy enough but not too heavy- better than some "fancy" vegan Italian restaurants I've had in the city. Also comes with a side of garlic bread. The mushroom empanada was very good- each piece is huge!! They are deep fried, and would be nice to have a baked option perhaps. The filling was really good- seemed like a mix of meat substitute and mushrooms. Also tried the vegan crispy chicken burger- portion was huge. Very nice sesame bun and "chicken" patty was thick and hearty. For dessert, got the strawberry cheesecake which was so-so for me. The texture was ok but the taste was not cheesecake-y enough for me. But it was still good overall. The slice was HUGE! Definitely for sharing. Also got the vegan gluten-free choc chip cookie which I really liked- crispy edges and chewy center, not too sweet. Everything was well-packaged and service was fast after ordering for pick up. The staff were lovely. Overall, Gaia & Loki left a great impression for yummy vegan comfort food in Jersey City, with very generous portions. The restaurant seemed popular and crowded, and has a nice casual vibe to it. Come with an appetite, and people to share with. Will return to either in person or order takeout again!

They were selling margaritas outside at this event. Me and another dad just finished our margaritas and decided to walk into Pet Shop with our empty plastic cups to see if they could make any to go drinks. We were greeted by Jessie at the empty bar. I told him "hey we have these plastic cups....any chance we can purchase to go drinks for the event outside." He said no...which was fine. But then he reached across the bar and snatched the cups out of our hands stating he could not let us walk out with the empty cups we came in with. He could have asked us to hand him the cups instead of grabbing it from us like that. We were stunned for a minute that that actually happened. So after that happened I asked if I can use the restaurant's bathroom. Jessie seemed annoyed...looked at us up and down and replied "the bathroom are for paying customers only." We took it as judgement as if the other dad and I were some kind of peasants. We ended up purchasing 2 margaritas at the bar in order to use the restaurant's bathroom. The margaritas were good and priced good($10 each). The business was empty. Wasn't like he was busy. The bartender Jessie was acting like an a**hole. You shouldn't work in the hospitality business if you lack basic customer service skills.

No table service so you order at the bar, which wasn't a hassle at all. As the night went on (8pm) the music got pretty aggressive and extremely loud. I get that it's a bar, but there were probably 30 people inside and suddenly you couldn't hear the person sitting across from you. The food consists of typical bar fare, but it's 100% vegetarian. I like the loaded tater tots - they're nice with a few jalapeño pieces, the savory "meat", and topped with creamy cheese. I've definitely had better wing alternatives and vegan ranch sauce was not good. Lastly, we tried the pet shop tacos and they were mostly void of flavor in a dry tortilla. If you're a vegetarian and looking for late night bar food, perhaps this will do the trick. If you're looking for a good dinner and a couple drinks in a super laid back environment, maybe not.

A Decade of Love on a Plate: A Local Favorite That Punches Above Its Weight…read more This place is the definition of a neighborhood gem--the kind you almost want to keep secret, yet can't stop yourself from praising. Cheap and cheerful on the surface, it punches way above its weight class, delivering inventive, clean, Asian-inspired food that's masterfully cooked by clearly skilled hands--and made with real love. I've been coming back year after year for most of this restaurant's 10-year lifespan, and that consistency is no accident. Every dish tastes intentional, thoughtful, and deeply satisfying, with a clear goal: to feed people love on a plate. It's a super veggie/vegan friendly that easily wins over even my "meat and potatoes" husband--who happily cleans his plate every time. In an era where genuine hospitality feels increasingly rare, Perry single-handedly restored my faith that quality service is not extinct. Warm, attentive, and authentically kind, Perry makes every guest feel seen, welcome, and cared for--without pretense or attitude. This is food that nourishes, service that uplifts, and a place that keeps you coming back not just for the flavors, but for how it makes you feel. A true neighborhood treasure.

If you're looking for good flavorful food options, this has got to be on your "must try" list, I genuinely do not think you'll be disappointed. I ordered the blueberry lemon iced tea, maitake mushroom medley with the option of udon noodles & added chicken, the coconut curry with the option of ramen noodles and the rice pudding with caramel sauce for dessert. First things first, my absolute FAVORITE thing about this restaurant is the food contains no GMO's no preservatives, pink Himalayan salt to season and NO REFINED sugars- only agave and palm sugar to sweeten. I WISH I would've known about this spot sooner JUST for that detail alone. I am always on the hunt for a place that offers refined sugar free options, and with that comes this level of safety knowing what I am consuming has a heath standard/holistic approach to meet and me not having to feel guilty or worrisome after a meal. Absolute 10/10 in that aspect. I saw a few reviews mention the blueberry lemon iced tea, as someone not even a fan of lemonade I decided to give it a try. Let's just say, I was slow sipping my drinks to not finish it all and avoid getting another in the same sitting lol. It's well balanced, not sour, blueberry flavor is present and knowing it's sweetened with agave led to guilt free pleasure. Would recommend everyone to try it, even if you're not a fan of lemonade like I am. Another mention, lemonade tends to make my throat dry, due to its sourness and tanginess and that didn't happen at all. Think the blueberry was more prominent than the lemon, it was really enjoyable. The curry ramen was a highlight! If your a fan of curry, I think you def have got to try this. I actually didn't get it (my partner did) because I didn't wanna be let down, but it was absolutely delicious. I got the maitake medley udon noddles with added chicken and what a blast of flavor. It had veggies, mushrooms, chicken, udon, eggs, kimchi and was extremely flavorful. I was very surprised that each element of the dish had its own flavor and spice that really jumped out, but paired well together. The least favorite thing for me on this platter was the eggs. Just your standard egg, I'm a fan of soy-marinated eggs on my noodles and not a fan of regular boiled eggs, but they are always an added protein plus! One honorary note, is the kimchi. I like kimchi, don't love it, but this was the best kimchi I have ever had. I even ordered a side to go. Another cool thing is the food is cooked fresh, right in front of you. Tbh, we were the only ones in there at 6 PM and food took quite a while, but I appreciate and prefer freshness over quickness always. The rice pudding is light and the homemade refunded sugar-free caramel addition makes it so much better. As there were only two options of dessert on the menu (rice pudding & matcha ice cream) I decided to give it a go although I'm not really a fan of rice pudding. Was it amazing? No. Would I get it again? Possibly. This place was on the pricier side I would say. My bowl of maitake mushroom w/chicken (added chicken being a $6.50 dollar up charge) was $34. Worth it for that price point? Not really, but good none the less. I also ordered a small side of kimchi (the small clear containers) and that was $7 which I think is crazy, but also it was good. For a better price point, I might've asked for a jar lol. Customer service- the workers were nice, but not really personable, which I don't really care for much, but bringing this up because there was this sense that maybe I shouldn't be in there or they just possibly didn't want to work. I tipped nonetheless, but for being the only couple or people in there I thought we would be greeted by everyone, just a simple acknowledgement, but it felt more like we were bothering them by walking in. I understand that people have their days and you have no clue what someone is going through personally, but it was distinct enough to mention- especially as someone who never really comments on the customer service aspect. I see through it cuz the food was great! Something about it was also just a let down, but I can't put my finger on it. Although it was good, I don't see myself frequenting this place. Maybe the price point is deterring me, but I do think it's worth a try!
