I rarely write negative reviews, but this one deserved it. I ordered the Mithras Special Thali and the food was honestly pathetic. The roti was like rubber, completely inedible. I had to leave the whole thali aside -- it was that bad. It's not even about the money. When you go to a restaurant with a good appetite, you expect at least decent food. I really don't understand how a restaurant can get their main product wrong. On top of that, they have a strict notice at the counter saying "No refund / No cancel order." That alone tells you everything about their confidence in their food quality. Very disappointing experience. If you visit, please avoid the Thali. read more

The Paani poori filling was below average. Lacked any effort into it. The syrup was good but spicy though. These people should know what falooda is. It is not just adding right ingredients but the thickness, taste and the richness of the contents matter too. It wasn't stirred. It was stored. So not freshly prepared. I don't want to start with the mango milkshake. It tasted like a very fruity mango. I'm sure they added a lot of purée to it. The ambience lacked efforts. Looks bad. Service was bad too. In celebration of Indian holidays we met at this vegetarian restaurant and the Indians I was with stated this is fast food Indian food with north and south dishes, but that it's not that great. As a person not familiar with these vegetarian dishes & dessert spread I rate it a 4. I thought all our dishes were delicious and served in good timing! The portion sizes were large. If you had room for dessert or snacks, they had a great spread I'd never seen before and they're probably really tasty. Located right at the heart of Newark ave, this is one of the go to locations for the people here preferring vegetarian food. The ambiance of the place isn't that great, feels too old and honestly would be good if they decide to renovate it soon. The menu does offer plenty of options which transport you back into India! Also the menu cards should be updated as they are mostly torn out! I had ordered Sarson Ka Saag with Makki ki roti. The service was prompt while the cashier was pretty friendly and courteous. The saag was well cooked and had the right amount of oil and butter whereas it was accompanied by 2 makki ki roti( corn roti). The makki ki roti was well prepared with the right amount of ghee applied over it and was crisp! This place in Jersey city is one of my favorites for sweets and quick Indian snack fare, especially since it's a short drive for me. The food is delicious and the service is friendly with a smile. Things I love here: all their bengali sweets! (Big sweet fanatic alert) Things I like here: chole bhature and channa, Raj kachori, schezwan noodles. Mango lassi is also the usual and good. Did not like: moong dal kachori ( I was expecting a much crispy version, maybe a different type of kachori), aloo tikki chat (they had chole instead of ragda pattice and the tikki was a bit too hard for my liking). I am so disappointed that we chose this place for a long weekend July 4 dinner. I called the restaurant to confirm our reservation. I should have got the hint then itself when the person on phone wasn't able to give me a clear picture of the fixed menu. But somehow, I didn't and I regret that we did. Except for the lady's name Rimsha that served us, we didn't feel welcome at all by anyone in the staff including the person who helped her looked like the trainer. Here I must say that their behavior towards non-Indians was completely opposite. I could see from my table how their mannerism changed when they were talking to others. They were more unfriendly and cordial. With us, they were just loud, rude and curt. Lady she was talking to someone on the phone was cursing Indians. my wife asked her Chocolate milkshake she rudely told her why can't you order once rather than coming again to thr counter you don't see i am on the phone. To top it all, the food was bad and extremely spicy. I don't remember eating anything which was remotely good. Ordered Katori chat it lacked stuffing just sweet curd and some masala. The frozen mooti choor ladoo from the supermarket tastes better than the one they serve here . The falooda felt like it was made of rubber, and the milk was mostly water. Overall, the food only looks but tastes very bad I regret taking my family to this place. Good thing is that we finished in less than 1 hour and went somewhere else to bring in celebrate July 4. We ordered the Tava Aloo Chaat after reading the description that potatoes will be tossed with chutneys, lime and spices and what we get is just fried potatoes. Probably the worst Indian food I've had in my life. I've been there so many times before and never had this opinion. The food has been decent but this time it was almost inedible. Maybe their quality has gone down during the pandemic. We ordered Pav Bhaji - which was basically all just raw onions and no bhaji really. It tasted so bad. We also ordered Gobhi Manchurian(Dry) which was not gobhi manchurian in any sense. It was just gobhi pakoras in some gravy. Are they trying to fool us with anything? Another disappointment was Chilly Potato (Dry) - chilli potato is supposed to be crispy, coated with a batter and then fried and coated with a thick honey chilli or just chilli sauce. The place is spacious & clean with all utensils on every table including a water pitcher. I was in the mood for dosa and there were several varieties to choose from, ranging from $6.95 to about $9.95 (however, some other meal selections such as combos were as much as $12.00). My dosa style was Mysore with a spicy kick. All dosas are served with sambar, tomato & coconut chutney. My friend ordered a puri appetizer as well as a cheese toast accompanied by curly masala fries (so yummy). Opinion? I devoured my dosa! It was massive (resembled a teepee), filling, spicy and delicious. The sambar had a nice spicy kick and the chutneys were the perfect companion to the thin, crisp, light as air dosa. All for $8.95. It was completely packed during lunch time. People were standing, waiting to be seated. Most people took delivery or packed a box of sweets. The dosas looked delicious too. They serve great Chaats and other popular Bombay street food dishes like Chili cheese toast and chole bathure. Among the Chaats I have found their Dahi batata puri the best. I also liked the paneer kathi roll which comes with a generous portion of fries. However, I observed that other types of dishes such as the North Indian curries or the Indo-Chinese dishes aren't upto the mark. I absolutely love the sweets available here. They serve among the best sweets on the Indian street. I generally visit them to buy sweets for festive ocassions and pick mix and match 1 pound sweet boxes from here. The price is slightly on the higher side but is worth it. The malpua rabri available here is a must try and they often run out of it. We ordered two rasmalai and they only gave us one and that was also very uncooked and dry I tried the worst rasmalai in my life. Never going back to this place again.
