Love this place. I won't say it's the best food I've ever eaten, but it is good, the prices are very fair and the owner is so very nice, polite, and seems to really know how to run a business in a good descent way. What really sold me was the sign outside of his establishment where it states, " if your hungry come in and we will feed you for free " (not exact wording). Mitra's Cafe is literally my favorite place. I love the Chicken koobideh and also the poblano soup! I think it has great flavor and the basmati rice is tasty as well. Other things I have had are the Filet Mignon and the boneless chicken sooo good. It also come with a grilled tomato with salt and pepper with shirazi salad and yogurt. I recommend the Sumac seasoning on the rice!!! Mini macaroons are good too i get the green and pink ones i forgot the flavor names. read more

After being a regular customer for about 8 years, today was my final visit. My mother had ordered takeout and when we got home the order was missing a meal, and several of the other meals had errors. We called and the owner was very rude and denied making any mistakes. I went back to pick up the food and spoke to him in person. He called us liars and stated that we hadn't ordered the missing meal. We showed him the receipt and he refused to look at it. He proceeded to demand a second payment for the missing meal. Stopped here to get a quiet meal instead of Panda Express next door, which was crowded and noisy. Service was fantastic and the food was excellent. Had the Koobidah beef, which was basically ground meat, grilled and placed on flat bread with rice and a grilled tomato. Delicious! Came with a yogurt sauce that complimented the beef quite nicely. Owner came out and gave me some fried rise, which were kind of like little chips made from fried rice, excellent with the yogurt sauce. I try and eat at locally owned restaurants whenever possible, and this is a new one on my list. Will return again instead of going to the chains. read more

I have an gluten allergy. Unfortunately, I have to write a bad review. I expressed that I had a gluten allergy prior to ordering and I asked if the chicken kabob and rice was gluten free. The older man( I believe to be the owner or manager) said these iTems were gluten free. My kabob was served on top of piece of pita bread of which I didn't know until a few bites in. Also there was a piece of green string in my rice. My kids had burgers and fries. That seemed fine, besides the fact the the ketchup containers were dusty and falling apart. I informed the waitress of my complaints and I asked her if the pita was gluten free and she said "I don't know." She didn't offer an apology or a refund. I got the feeling that , asking for gluten free food was an issue. I have an allergy to gluten and a condition that requires me to have a gluten free diet. Gluten give me cramps and my eyes turn red. I'm disappointed. I have been wanting to eat here for weeks. I thought it would be a better experience. read more

Its downfall is that it has a limited Persian menu with basically Koobideh and Kabobs as its only foreign items. Disappointing because I was expecting a full on Persian dining experience. We recently moved from San Juan Capistrano where we had our favorite Middle Eastern restaurant. We we pleased to have discovered Mitra's while next door at Panda Express. We came by the next night and were " greeted" by a humorless gentleman who I'm guessing is the owner. He took our orders not interested in us at all, he proceeded to make our 2 chicken kabobs. Looking around this place it's hard to tell what they specialize in...is it food, coffee, diet aids, groceries? It's a few steps away from being a full on 7-11. Anyways, Mr. Grumpy brought us our food and was back behind the counter where he got into a very heated argument on the phone, with a previous customer...right in front of us, facing us...very awkward, absolutely no concern with our comfort level in his restaurant. He was raising his voice, arguing with said customer who obviously wasn't happy with his/her order. There was no apology or attempt at understanding or compromise just, "no you are wrong" and told the caller point blank " I don't care what you write it doesn't matter, do whatever you want, I don't care". Now, I'm assuming the customer on the phone was indicating that a Yelp review was going to reveal their unpleasant experience but this business owner was simply NOT INTERESTED!! Oh well, the chicken was beyond dry, rice was very good and we will not be returning....ever!! We sat there thinking just eat the food...don't piss him off...jokingly of course but seriously, we aren't going to support any business who could potentially treat us the way that last customer was treated. There was a kabob special for $3.99 and I guess you get what you pay for! It wasn't a kabob it was rather a tasteless hamburger that made the McDonald's .99 burger seem like it was Kobe beef! It was plain awful! On top of that there was no sauce & when I asked he said the meat was seasoned!!! Never again. I think that is why they have to price it as such because Suckers like me go there! This place is TERRIBLE! They should be reported and shut down. There door was opened sign with red lights said open. It's around 2pm on Thursday, I walk in with my mask on take two steps in door, the owner has his cell phone to his ear talking, walks towards me said no no get out I am on the phone. I wish I was exaggerating, I wish this was candid camera. It was real, this happened. He closed the door after I stepped out. I stood there stunned with a look of disbelief this just happened. Now I thought I am in a new car so I don't look homeless? I am dressed with a visor on and a Nike tennis outfit so don't think it's my appearance? There are cameras in that shopping center that will show this really happened! And even if I was homeless that's no way to treat anyone. Also you have a license with the state and city to operate your business hours are posted on your door!? Don't have your door opened and your sign on that says opened if your taking personal calls that preclude you from operating your business. If the Health department came to inspect your cafe would you do the same to the get out no no I am on the phone? Shame on you!! read more

They're awful. They left out items in my meal, and when GrubHub called them to have them send it out, they just didn't answer the phone. Now, GrubHub is calling the next day. My review is based only on the $3.99 kabob special (chicken), which is the only thing I've had. On the positive side, the price is right, unfortunately the taste...not so much. I guess you get what you pay for. You get one kabob, which has an odd taste...not bad, just different. Heavily seasoned and had the texture of ground chicken instead of pieces of chicken.The salad is just a small scoop of lettuce with little, bland dressing/oil?? You get a strip of lavash-type bread and rice. The rice was the only thing I liked. I've never had Persian food, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I have had awesome middle eastern food (Sultan Cafe) and this didn't even come close. Not what I expected at all. I saw the sign said kabobs and was disappointed by the selection on the menu. That's what brought me in so that's what I ordered. Even more disappointing, I didn't think you could mess up kabobs but apparently you can. My chicken kabob was super dry and tasteless. As was much of the rest of the plate. To top it off the girl at the counter looked like she hated her life, like we were bothering her by even ordering food.
