I always had a great time at The Mix Downtown Night Club Lounge celebrating my birthday. Maurice, our VIP coordinator, was excellent and very pleasant. He is very accommodating and always gets back to me very quickly when I have questions or concerns. Liz, our waitress, always gave us excellent service and was very pleasant and attentive. Two excellent VIP booths with some curtain privacy were reserved for me. I adore the chandeliers made of crystal. I adore the overall atmosphere of a rooftop with a fire pit. The dance floor was flawless with great music. The restrooms were consistently kept tidy. "THE PERFECT DRESS CODE REQUIRED" is another aspect of it that I adore. I always had such a great time. I have been here a few times for private events and open to public hours and it's a great time. They have had some amazing bands and bartenders are responsive and quick and drinks are made well. Nice outdoor seating with fire pits, bar on the patio as well. Lots of seating, clean restrooms and food is pretty good for a bar menu. With the band it does get noisy. Small dance floor as well. On April 26th, I arrive at Mix, downtown. The only way the security was allowing my girlfriend and I in was if she paid them under the table in cash. The security was holding the line, as usual and it was empty inside. We went in & I had already been feeling a bit sick to my stomach (I have endometriosis & I was getting ready to begin my cycle). Also, I ate shellfish that day & I'm realizing my stomach can't handle it. Not sure what end I needed to be sick from, I went to the restroom BY MYSELF. I attempted to put 2 fingers down my throat, and did not succeed. So, I sat there for a while to figure out how to make myself feel better. As I was in the stall, the lady working in the bathroom that hands out paper towels pounded so hard on the stall, the door opened. She told me I needed to "get out!" I came out when I was ready. I observed the bathroom completely clear of any patrons. I began washing my hands and reapplying my lip when I realized 2 Mix Security standing at the bathroom door. I smiled at them and said, "this is awkward." The Security responded to me by mocking me & repeating what I had just said, "this is awkward," very condescendingly. The security told me they needed to speak with me in private. They said they were told that I was getting sick in the bathroom and that they do not allow sick people at their establishment. I explained to them that I had a DISABILITY and that I assumed the restroom was a reasonable place for me to be able to get sick to my stomach. I told them they have no idea what I'm going through right now and I shouldn't have to explain myself as to why I'm in the stall. Their response was that if I'm sick, I shouldn't be at their establishment. They also questioned whether I tipped the lady handing out towels. I explained that I was not contagious and that I have an autoimmune disorder & on medication from cancer that I JUST BEAT! Security guard named Victor told me they have no tolerance for sick people and that I needed to leave. I explained to them that I needed to find my girlfriend that I had left by herself before I could just leave & leave her there by herself. I also explained to them that it was extremely embarrassing that I would need to be escorted out of their establishment from what they described as me "being sick on the toilet." They told me they'd walk behind me from a distance and watch me leave the Mix via elevator. I continued to scan the place for my girlfriend, as well as trying to call her and text her to let her know that I was being kicked out due to my disability. I was still unable to locate her, so I stepped to the side of the elevator, and as soon as I did, that six of the securities rushed me, one grabbed my injured shoulder by the name of Rob or Ron with long black hair. I immediately let him know I had an injured shoulder and that he just assaulted me and he said, "yes I assaulted you get the F out of here." I was not making a scene, nothing. Two more security guards that had no idea what was going on were forced to escort me via elevator and I left, alone. A single female. read more

Went to Mix Downtown to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday and the bouncer pushed me and cracked my head open on the curb for asking if my purse was still in the club and drove off when he saw me bleeding. The bouncer was about 6'2/6'3 reddish brown beard, blue eyes, and white, he happens to be the only white bouncer so he definitely stood out. To make matters worse Forrest the manager of the vip section doesn't answer the phone unless you inquire about renting a booth so I did that to tell Forest about what happened in his establishment, he gave me the approval to go look for my bag the next day but did nothing to protect me and let the bouncer who pushed me on the ground follow me around and help me look for my bad and i felt unsafe. There is a DJ by the name of Wednezday. Total BITCH! I came Friday night with over 15 guests. We had just left a wedding and was enjoying the rest of the night with the bride and groom. We had every intention on getting a table and bottle service, but wanted to check out the vibes first. 3x we politely approached the DJ and asked her to shoutout the bride and groom. Each time, she rudely declined. I thought she maybe misunderstood us, so I wrote it on my phone. She got extremely upset that we asked. Keep in mind that after we asked, she shouted out her cousin who was celebrating her birthday. Wednzday, you're an unprofessional bitch. If you don't want to deal with people, don't work at a bar. I have never left a negative review but after my experience last night coming out to celebrate my friend's 30th birthday I need to share. My boyfriend is incredibly humble and I've NEVER seen such blatant discrimination by a company that claims to hold class. I will recommend to all my connections and colleagues in the entertainment industry to avoid this establishment when in Sac for a good time. I'm from LA and have gone out in NYC & Miami as well so I'm not new to dress codes or discretion of the door man. For context, my boyfriend is a previous highly ranked football player and was racially profiled last night upon entering the club because they thought he would bring "violence". They said his shoes "weren't allowed because they don't allow Jordan's but they allow AF1s and Nike dunks". We asked why and they said "because they start fights". We already had multiple friends inside who were shocked when we turned around due to a shoe policy that was not enforced for all of the men inside wearing the EXACT same Jordan. As a company I would review your policies and make sure your staff is abiding by them before you get hit with a lawsuit messing with the wrong one read more

They had a patio area so in was open with fresh air, minus the smoke from the cigarettes people were smoking. The security downstairs were super friendly and welcoming which is awesome to see. The MIX Downtown has been the goto location for our nightlife events. The VIP Host Lindsey (@lindsey_vip) has always been accommodating and worked with all of our sometimes ridiculous requests. Her and the staff are attentive and provide a safe environment. The venue is clean and well-kept. Security pays attention to uncouth antics and swiftly addresses things. The layout is open, so unlike other "club" environments you have the opportunity to have conversations and get to know people. You don't feel like you're in a can. The demographics are typically mid-20s and above so you don't feel like you're wading through toddlers. Did I mention that half is an outdoor rooftop? While you do pay a slight premium for drinks, you are essentially paying for the ambience of the locale. The security dudes were cool af but the bartender was rude. Dude looked like he didn't want to work or be there. I gave him $40 and needed my change back so I waited. Dude just took my change and threw it into the tip jar without asking me or giving it to me. I was wtf and left because I didn't want to make a scene. Same night, right after getting my beers from the bartender, me and buddies went to sit down and some other dude in a suit was sitting and he was saying something under his breath. He told me that the seats weren't registered yet but once they are, you all are gonna get kicked out in a rude way with attitude and left. I've been here for happy hours after work, private events and most recently for a night out to celebrate a birthday. All of the events have been fun and a great experience with the venue. They have two bars - one for the outside seating area and one for inside so it's not hard to get a drink. They layout of the place is also very open and spacious. Bathrooms are clean and during night club hours, there is an attendant present to ensure supplies are in stock and the line keeps moving. No waiting around ladies. I give the Mix 3 stars for ambiance and deducted 4 stars for the extremely poor customer service. So it's a -1. I visited this establishment on June 27 with a party of 10. We reserved a booth and bottle service and spent a good bit at the bar. Great mix of guests, the music was okay, but way too much cigarette smoke. (There are no ashtrays so everyone throws their butts on the floor.) I only purchased 2 drinks and cashed out my card, then neglected to pick up my card. I realized it when I got home, called the bank and put a hold on it, then called the Mix the next morning and left a vm on the general manager's line. No return call. I waited 24 hours and then called back, this time leaving a detailed vm on the line where we booked the reservation. No return call. On the third day, I sent an email and included an image of my receipt showing the bartender's name, the time of the transaction, and all the details. Each time, I asked for the courtesy of a call to let me know if they had my card or not. It would have taken a whole minute out of their day. It's been 2 weeks, and not one person gave me the basic courtesy of a return call or a response to my email. (But they call you back pretty quickly when you want to reserve an expensive booth and bottle service!) I will not be back, and I will not recommend them to anyone looking to host an event. read more

Coming back home to sac for vacation and decided to hit up the MIX last Sunday night. I never really leave reviews anywhere but this one i feel like i should. Had some friends already inside the club as we were trying to meet up with them. Got in like approximately 10:50 that night and we were the only ones in line at the time( first in line aswell). There are 2 lines, one for general admission (which we were in) and one for booths. I get it's Veterans Day weekend and a lot of clubs and bars like to hold the line to make the spot seem more active, and the security do their jobs as told by management. I just feel like that night the line was held for too long that It not only ruined it for me and ended up leaving, but everyone else that got in first because of booths or because they knew the security and were letting them skip the line, a lot of those people I seen go inside, and 5 mins later walk out. The line didn't move as we were first in line at 10:50, actually ended up leaving around 11:40 because I hate wasting my time and the line didn't move at all, but keep in mind we were at the front of the general admission line. The friends we where trying to meet inside actually told us that there was not a lot of people inside at the time either, and that explains why I saw a lot of people who skipped the line cause of knowing the security guards or having booths ended up walking in and out of the club, as essential it seemed to me that the party was actually more outside of the club then it was inside. I don't know who was in charge of the holding the line for perceived value of a club that night was cause I know it wasn't securities orders, but I believe that you guys went alittle too overboard with holding it that day. I get to hold the line a bit, but if the party is more outside of the club then inside, to were your having people walking out 5 mins later because it's dead inside and majority of the party is actually waiting in a line that didn't move at all, I think the marketing strategy needs to change a bit because are are not only ruined it for me and the people waiting in line, but also the people being served inside aswell. read more

I attempted to bring 50+ surgeons visiting Sacramento for a national medical conference. Everyone in the party identifies as black or African-American. We were abruptly turned away at the door because three people in the party were wearing Nikes that were considered too " urban" for admission into the establishment. It is incredibly embarrassing to attempt to show my colleagues a good time in the city I serve, only to be subjected to racial profiling and outright racism. I would not ever recommend this place to anyone. This club plays music created by Black artists all night, but openly discriminates against non-white costumers. This is a problem that trickles down from the owners to the security at the front door. This place is absolutely disgraceful. read more
