10/10 must attend MIX Downtown is easily one of the best nightlife spots in Sacramento. The rooftop atmosphere is amazing, with beautiful city views, great music, and a fun energy from the moment you walk in. I have been here a few times for private events and open to public hours and it's a great time. They have had some amazing bands and bartenders are responsive and quick and drinks are made well. Nice outdoor seating with fire pits, bar on the patio as well. Lots of seating, clean restrooms and food is pretty good for a bar menu. With the band it does get noisy. Small dance floor as well. If you're in the area and looking for a place with friends to sit and enjoys drinks, give this place a try. read more

This venue was great! We went here for a co-worker's bday celebration and they did not disappoint. They have a dance floor with a live DJ playing music, everyone was dancing and feeling good. Service was great as well, they really attend to your needs and are always walking around services their customers. Horrible service all the way around I waited 45 - 1 hr maybe just to get it kuz they had a bottle section that goes in first but ppl keep coming there line is as big as the reg one so that's one thing . Then u go to use the rest room that's 20 min wait . Then u go to the bartender who completely ignores ppl I stood there for 1 hour I feel like she was picking who to serve kuz someone even came next to me n orderd n they gave him His n told me they couldn't attend to to wait for the lady bartender i did not get served at all the whole time i was there 4 hours trynna get a drink it's bs even tried to move around go closer to the bartender who would look up at me but just ignore me I had other ppl try and get her attention for me she ignored them at the end it was already boutta be closed completely wast of money I never in my life went somewere were I couldn't be served and wasn't able to order a drink there bar tender is bs worse night ever will never go again I wasted 4 hours and did nothing also when u go make sure u got only card u don't want to wait in a long ass like for nothing they only take card for entry and cash at the bar which I never got to do lol I told the lady imagine if I ddnt have card n only cash n Waiting in that hour long like I would leave like u guys need to Put a sign in line "only taking card" im lucky I was able to Give my friend money to pay with her card or I wouldn't have able to But this is the most horrible Service place ever I will never go or recommend to Anyone . read more

I loved coming here on Sunday nights. My coworkers and I came after a long workday (worked past midnight all day on a Saturday so needed a drink). You have the dance floor inside. You have an open patio with a nice warm fire. Best of both worlds. Refreshing delicious drinks. Never can go wrong with the MIX. The Security keeps the venue safe inside and outside. read more

Went to Mix Downtown to celebrate a friend's 21st birthday and the bouncer pushed me and cracked my head open on the curb for asking if my purse was still in the club and drove off when he saw me bleeding. The bouncer was about 6'2/6'3 reddish brown beard, blue eyes, and white, he happens to be the only white bouncer so he definitely stood out. To make matters worse Forrest the manager of the vip section doesn't answer the phone unless you inquire about renting a booth so I did that to tell Forest about what happened in his establishment, he gave me the approval to go look for my bag the next day but did nothing to protect me and let the bouncer who pushed me on the ground follow me around and help me look for my bad and i felt unsafe. There is a DJ by the name of Wednezday. Total BITCH! I came Friday night with over 15 guests. We had just left a wedding and was enjoying the rest of the night with the bride and groom. We had every intention on getting a table and bottle service, but wanted to check out the vibes first. 3x we politely approached the DJ and asked her to shoutout the bride and groom. Each time, she rudely declined. I thought she maybe misunderstood us, so I wrote it on my phone. She got extremely upset that we asked. Keep in mind that after we asked, she shouted out her cousin who was celebrating her birthday. Wednzday, you're an unprofessional bitch. If you don't want to deal with people, don't work at a bar. Mix, you can blame Wednezday that we did not purchase bottle service. Maybe she is only good on Wednesday. We will not be back & I'll make sure to spread the word. read more

I remember seeing it mentioned on the news too. I got there when it opened at 7pm so it was pretty quiet, but I got a good feel and vibe from the place. The manager also interacted with me and told me that just last night, the place had some popular DJ and packed the place in. He showed me a video of what the scene looked like and all I can say is wow (in a good way). The best way I think I could describe this spot would be a more intimate Las Vegas night club on the strip while not compromising the quality of cocktails and providing a multi-sensory experience of lights, sounds and energy. I left when things started to get busy but I am confident in saying that you won't be disappointed and feel like you got your money's worth for sure.... especially when they will be having events there. If you get there shortly after it opens, I think you can count on more of a lounge sort of vibe. When it starts getting later or there's a DJ spinning (especially a well known one), then the place turns into an upscale nightclub. Circling back to my experience, I tried their "Plot Twist" cocktail which consists of things like bourbon, lemon, honey, fig jam and walnut and it was one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. Nicely balanced, smooth, inviting and little to no bite. Just a damn good cocktail that I really enjoyed. There were three bartenders there which were Karla (who made my drink), Ian (who made my second drink that I can't remember what the name was), and Danny. They were all really nice, fun and outgoing bartenders that made me feel welcomed while also maintaining a fun demeanor. I asked if it was ok with them to take their pic since some people don't like that and they were cool with it. The bar seats being a little small were surprisingly comfy and tested out the lounge seating which is also comfy and provides perfect views of everything going on (in case you ever want to reserve a spot). There is no bad seat in the house, the music system is very clear with high end audio, and overall you can tell that a lot of thought and effort was put into this place by people who know what they are doing. A couple of other things to note is that the menu they have on their counter does not display all of the cocktails. There are more on their website which you can look up by going onto their website. When they are in their busy hours, you can reserve spots and get bottle and I think that if you know it's going to be a busy night, it will be worth it to do with a group. There will probably be a door charge later in the night so be prepared for that, however I did see on their website that they do have a guestlist so take advantage of that! They do have a dress code so when in doubt, just dress to impress and you should have no trouble getting in. The average cocktail is around $15 and think it's reasonable for the kind of cocktail you will be able to get. Archive is open on certain days so be sure to double check that they are open before going. Ultimately, if you haven't been yet, this is one place you should definitely check out at least once. If you're more into the lounge vibe, get there early. If you're more into the clubbing vibe, get there a little later or check out their events for the ultimate experience. I will definitely be back and this place is raising the bar on K Street and whole area. Oh yeah, and lastly, they do accept tap to pay including Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and Google Pay as well as credit/debit cards and cash. Thanks for the great time guys!

I just wanted to express my extreme disappointment in this venue last night. I am one of the models that was in attendance and I was shocked and appalled by the lack of response by the security team. I watched one of my friends get sexually harassed and when another went to create space between the two, the man punched my friend in the abdomen then proceeded to dance (for lack of a better description of the convulsive, flailing movements of the douche bag in question,) and garner complaints from additional nearby patrons. At this point, against my natural instinct to punch him in the face and kick him down the flight of stairs, I decided to alert security. The security guard asks for the run down, walks through the dance floor and does nothing. Walks right past this guy as people attempt to stop him and complain about this same diminutive man's violent attempt at dancing. So I alert another security guard who replies "we'll be closing soon anyways." I go back to my friends and the situation has escalated into a shouting match. Finally, when all the heads are turning, a security guard comes, and takes the man aside. A few minutes later, the club closes down, we all head for the exit, when another inconsiderate older gentleman pushes past ten women in heels on the stairs, knocking over some poor inebriated girl and, without stopping, proceeds to barrel right into another one of my friends nearly knocking her off her feet. Seeing the security guard at the door was being just as helpful as the rest of them, I took matters into my own hands, accosted the older man and made him apologize for his behavior. Had he been one of my students, I would have made him climb the stairs and walk all the way back down. At any rate, we all reach the bottom floor and guess who was waiting outside the door. Little angry dancer. Upon seeing my friend, he removes his sweater and prepares for another altercation. Meanwhile a single security guard tries to talk this drunken nutcase down, my friends begin pulling my friend away while she is crying and yelling at the little man. All of a sudden another woman comes out and begins yelling at the little Armenian man at the top of her lungs for laying a hand on my friend, and raising his hand to another one. At this point we have an all out spectacle. After 3 minutes of this craziness we are able to drag the women away from the establishment. I was a huge fan of the Mix, and appreciated its mature atmosphere compared to other night clubs. However, after last night, I don't feel like its a safe place to drink and have fun, and I don't plan on patronizing it ever again. I really hope that this isn't a normal occurrence, because I would hate to see another Sac night club go under because of fights breaking out. -Heather read more

I wanted to give more stars. Seriously. The ambiance that this place kicks off is fantastic and I don't have to worry about a bunch of obnoxious 21 year olds spilling their drink or pucking around me. My husband and I have been here a handful of times for cocktails and small plates. They have GREAT appetizers. Ahi poke, sliders, mac n cheese. It reminds me of Sacs mini version of a Vegas club. So I told my husband I'd like to come back to celebrate my birthday (30 something I might add). We arrived at 8pm and it was dead. So dead that I thought my night of dancing was going to be a flop. We found a nice lounge area in the corner outside next to a fire pit. The 8 of us quickly began ordering drinks and some apps. The waitress was pleasant and the service was good. Then the CIA agent came over to advise us our table was FOR SALE. Well, thats great. Mind you the place is still dead. We advised him we wanted to be notified if anyone inquired and would consider purchasing it then. He harassed us a little longer about how we could buy a $85.00 bottle of champagne and stay. We said we would tight and he agreed to let us know if someone was offering to purchase it. Pretty soon another goon came to the table to tell us it was SOLD. We had already closed out our tab with one waitess to the tune of $190.00 and had begun racking up more with another (shift change). By this time the place was getting busy, probably 9:30. We told him that we were supposed to be notified so he got on his little 2 way to talk to the wizard or something. The original guy came up and the two of them talked for a while. Finally our waitress called over the manager. At this point our tab was over $400.00 total..... AND YOU WANT TO KICK ME OUT OF YOUR BOOTH. They decided we had spent enough to stay I guess because all of a sudden the booth had NOT been sold. Very interesting. So it WASNT SOLD? Or IT WAS? Yeah, Im confused, but then again I have had enough for 3 to drink at this point. I don't like the game they were playing. When we go out we want to have a good time and I feel like the securtiy there treated us like we buying jello shots half off. I mean, really.....how much do you have to spend? I did speak to the manager about how unprofessional I felt that it was and he did give me his card and told me to call before I come next time and he will save us a booth. Problem is, there probably will not be a next time. Im sure there are plenty of other places in Sacramento willing to accommodate a person willing to drop $500.00 on cocktails. I WILL NEVER EVER GIVE THIS PLACE MY HARD EARNED MONEY!!! Where do I start??? Lets see I can sum it all up in one word, "RACIST!" These people are beyond racist!! Where do they get the nerve to treat people of color, (black people) the way they do??? I have been to this place twice and have experienced their so called bouncers pick and choose who they want to let in while everyone else waits in line! They look at the black people crazy, have us waiting for hours in line while they let groups of white girls, white guys and everyone else dressed inappropriately in! This place needs to be investigated. The first time I went here was two years ago for a friends 40th birthday party. We paid for a VIP booth and started our night at about 7pm! After being there for 3 hrs they told us we need to move!!! That since the night club had started someone else had that booth and they would be glad to put us in another booth, which sat way in the back, in a corner!! During this time, my husband was meeting me there and when I went downstairs to get him, the weak ass bouncer told him that he could not get in because his pants were sagging!! My husband is almost 50 and does not wear any sort of baggy or saggy pants!!! AT this point, I was highly upset, went upstairs, and told my friends good night!! I was so upset and should have done something or said something then!! But I didn't and then I went back again last weekend on a Saturday for my birthday! That experience was even worse. My friends and I waited in line for over an hour and was given the same bs excuses as to why they were letting other groups of non minority people in as they walked up. We waited and waited and finally was let in at about 11:40pm!!! However they only allowed us to come in a few at a time. Several of my friends were turned away and not let in due to their shoes!! My friend was the nicest guy dressed out there but because he had on timberland boots he was not allowed in. The guy in front of him had on a plain t shirt and was let in. WTF kind of place is this. They claim to be for the older more mature crowd but were letting in people obviously not dressed appropriately! This place is a joke and is the most racist club in Sacramento!! Fuck club mix this club sucks. this clubs has a bunch of crack heads,and drug users. Everybody in this club does cocaine,meth,and heroin especially in the bathrooms.The club obviously isn't doing their job, i came across 30 minors my time being there and they were 16 are you fucking kidding me. It is about that time i let the FBI know about this club so they can investigate it. Having drugs and minors in the club is not cool. Well lets say I arrived at mix approximately 9:45 on Sunday. I reserved and purchased a VIP booth since i was with four of my guy friends and eight sexy Asian females.We were all properly dressed with a collared shirt, jeans,dress shoes, and rosary catholic chains. When I got to the front of the line the security checked our id and we all got inside the club with no problems and went to our VIP booth. The night begin when I purchased a bottle of Cristal by Louis Roederer and two patron bottles. Thinking we were all going to have a great night,within 40 minutes of being inside the club the security went over to my booth and kicked me out the club and all my friends that were black for having a fucking rosary on and picky rings, "Are you fucking kidding me".They might as well just say they are kicking us out,because they don't wont African Americans in the club only white men with flip flops and tight jeans, Fuck this place and security. They are worried about us having a rosary on and we actually are spending money making their club money, dumb fucks.. These uptight dumbasses that do security and work here are something else.The ladies i was with also left the club since we all had gotten kick out.Save your time and do not waste it at Mix, this club sucks. I just have to say to anyone out there who hates RACIST PLACE, this is definitely a spot that has a few RACIST BOUNCERS. I was here Saturday night relaxing with a few of my friends. We had decide to go out because my friends birthday was last friday, so he hung out with his family. This weekend it was with his friends. So around 11:30 ish My friend who was already in the mix decides to go to his car and change his shirt. I get a text from him and he states that the bouncer is not letting him go back in. I was shock to receive this text because we were going to buy some more bottles of Grey Goose when he came back in. So I go down stairs to talk to this tall 6"4 bouncer mexican had a beard. He tells me that this guy was never in the mix. I was like he was and he just came down to change his shirt. He could have told me, well your friend has to wait back in line like everyone else. He didnt he say that. He just said he is not getting in. I was like wow. This so ridiculous. Im so tired of these places not letting BLACK PEOPLE in for no REASON. THIS CLUB IS ABSOLUTE TRASH. AVOID GOING HERE AT ALL COSTS!! The dudes at the front that run the club are completely racist. I am from San Francisco and I have gone to the hottest clubs in major cities across the United States, and my friends and I were denied entry because of my friends race. It was a Wednesday night and we had bottle service. We got to the door and my friend was denied entry because they said his "all black yeezy" shoes were not up to dress code. We stood to the side and one of our friends spoke with the manager.. As we were waiting for them to just accept it and let us go to our table, a caucasian male wearing THE EXACT SAME SHOES was let into the club from the side. The bouncers even made it a point to try and sneak him in so we could not see. They told us to take our money and go spend it at another club because there was no way we were going to be allowed inside. We were only in Sacramento to celebrate our friends birthday and this was the only club open on Wednesday night. It was the worst experience I've ever had at any club. Another friend of mine had trouble getting in because he was wearing a turban. EVEN THO HE WAS WEARING $1500 Balenciaga shoes that ALSO were against dress code. WHAT THE FUCK kinda club doesnt allow DESIGNER CLOTHING. I shoulda came in wearing a Cabela's camoflauge jacket with a big wad of chew in my mouth. Then they might have let me in. This was a terrible experience. We went for a bachelorette party and we had everyone over 21. As we get our IDs checked the obviously inexperienced bouncer confiscated my sister in law's ID. It was not a drivers license (she doesn't drive) it was an ID. He refused to tell us why other then he thought it was fake and told us we could call the cops. So we did. He was arrogant and refused to even speak with us. Another employee told us the cops hang out down an alley and said we could check there. After the second time walking down in alley in downtown Sac. We ask to speak to the manager. He was completely unprofessional and told us to go down the alley once again. We get there and after we respectfully inform the cops what is happening he lurks out of the shadows to hand the cops the ID. The cops were appalled and said, "he actually made you walk down here?!" The cop then checked the ID said the the "manager", "dude its real, what is your problem?!" The manger left is in the alley and went back to the bar. Once we arrived he cowardly handed the ID to the incompetent bouncer to give it back. No apologies, no respect at all. They said we could come in, we did not and will never. The level of unprofessionalism we experienced was unreal. The education for their employees to be able differentiate between a fake ID and a real government issued ID is completely ridiculous. The management there was uneducated, disrespectful, and juvenile. NEVER enter this establishment. We never will again and we will make sure everyone knows how we were treated. read more

I have been to MIX 8 times since they have opened. 3 out of the 8 times was sucky-service. But overall if you go at night with some group of friends and enjoy the atmosphere it is fun. But every time I go there it is hard to find a place to hang out and sit with just a friend or to. We wish that there was more bar stools with some small tables around the outside patio that is a higher sitting area rather than the clicky outside sitting. Maybe they could put some of this style sitting around the outside perimeter of the patio. I have been almost always on a Sat. The DJ is good. I feel like the types of people that are there Saturday nights is like being at a wedding reception, you never know who you will run into. It maybe an older couple doing the funky chicken on the dance floor, or a hoochi dancing like there is an imaginary pole in front of her. The lighting is good, and the drinks are good. But for the three times that I had bad service was never getting served food for the longest time. It happened to be when I brought friends three different times to bring them more business. So I give up bringing new people to this establishment. So I will only come here if my friends have plans to go there, then I may meet them only because they are my friends and where ever they go and they are there I will always have fun. read more

Ok so I don't normally write these things but I have to for this experience of a trashbag of an establishment. First off I was meeting up with sister downtown for her birthday at the Shady Lady and had a blast but we decide somehow to head to garbagetown USA and come here. My sister is with 6 girls and me and and when we get there this blonde haired, blue eyed, beanie wearing douche looks at my brand new all black SF hat and says you can't come in but everyone else have a great time. Of course my sister (bday girl) isn't going to leave her brother outside so she pleads with mr. high horse since I've seen at least 2 fedoras walk through the door and eventually go next door to De Veres bouncers (awesome staff) and they let me stash my hat and I walk back over to douchelord at the Mix because unfortunately the other girls are already inside and paid 20 bucks each to grace themselves with the presents of 60 year creeps upstairs and he doesn't let me in cuz he said he knows I stached my hat somewhere?!?! That's your reasoning?? Anyways eventually we somehow got some competent staff downstairs and they let me and my sister in and we get upstairs and there's 30 guys wearing shitty fedoras!!! We were VIP, bought about 6 bottles and a bottle of Dom Pee. We were treated like crap and the bouncers even made racist remarks on our way out. Before grabbing and wrestling me to the ground then calling the cops because I was trying to go back towards the door and get my cousin and didn't appreciate the big bouncer grabbing and twisting my arm a few times, he eventually (like a coward) jumped on me when my back was turned and called the cops. During this little scuffle my brother in law was recording the whole incident, the big bald bouncer with a beard who was using unnecessary force on me seen this and snatched the phone from his grasp and deleted what footage he had! The police officer then let me go when he discovered I wasn't a threat to anyone and just wanted to get my family and leave. All the doorman and security people are complete cowards and completely racist, we will never spend another dime at this place or recommend going here to anyone! This is a common thing at this club! Let me start off by saying that I have tried to give this place a fighting chance. Every time I end up here with friends, it ends up being an out of body experience/waking nightmare. I can't believe places like this exist. The crowd looks like they've been pulled from a sleazy late 80s/early 90's comedy. This is the worst faux "club" I have ever been to in my life, and believe me I love clubs but this PLACE is so UNCOOL that it's laughable. The "guys" generally look like coked out early 90's rapists and the "females" are all mindless tarts and cougars in bandage dresses trying to score drugs off of previously mentioned guys. If you are logical, a thinker, have any sense of style/taste/class, do not enter this house of horrors. I honestly don't think these people understand how hilarious they are. Rowwwwr! Rowwwr! That is the sound that a cougar makes as she's scouting the dance floor, on the prowl searching for her next prey. Hopefully the prey is at least 7 - 10 years younger and doesn't sport a beer paunch yet. You can still enjoy yourself even if you're not a cougar. Swill down some yummy cocktails or take advantage of the $19 pitcher happy hour drinks on Friday. They have one of the best happy hour deals in the area in my opinion since it runs until 7:00 pm and all the appetizers are half off and tasty. There is an outside patio area where you can drag your prey to get away from the inside noise. This way you can learn more about him and discover his weaknesses upon which to feast. I like coming to the Mix...wednesday is the only real day you want to be here. The people that come here vary in backgrounds and ages. Theres always plenty of cougars, businessmen, gay dudes and your college seniors. There usually is a cover, but just be smart and get on the guestlist...takes like 10 seconds and you're done. Mix is set up pretty nice, more towards a lounge than a nightclub. Theres two big bars along one side of the place, ones next to the outdoor patio/balcony and the other is inside. Their is plenty of seating...a little too much seating actually and a very small dance floor, but where there is liqour...there is dancing. We always have a good time and we'll keep going back...havent' been blown away by the place, but its wednesday and what else is tehre to do? read more

As a young cougar-cub-in-training, this could be my new scratching post . . . It is a beautiful space, full of comfy seating, the ever-so flattering effects of low-lighting and glow of fire pits, and, in a few years they'll let me in for free. I've only been here on a slow weeknight, and that's just about all that this young cub really wants to deal with; I'm not out hunting for a mouse to play with... or, any other nonsense. Once they open up that ugly tarp thing, covering the outdoor patio, it will be even lovelier . . . and, I can watch and learn how to hunt jackals, cocks, dogs, and weasels. . . remember, cats play with their prey. I had a great time at this nightclub! The atmosphere was energetic from the moment we walked in, with great music that kept everyone on the dance floor all night. The DJs played a good mix of current hits and throwback songs, so there was something for everyone. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the bartenders were quick even when the club got busy. The venue was clean, well-maintained, and had plenty of space to dance without feeling overcrowded. The lighting and sound system really added to the overall experience. i refuse to go inside of here solely based on the urban (read: douchebaggy) trash that seems to flock to the place. not to mention - i'm poor, and this place looks expensive. i like being comfortable, and evidently one must adorn themselves in uncomfortable garb prior to entrance. so i know you wish there was a "not-useful" button - but trust me, me telling you not to go there is probably the most useful thing you'll ever read. unless, of course, you like that kind of ...um... scene. ************update: I truly considered adding a star after a story my friend told me where a hammered chick was sitting outside, on the curb, pissing herself - and the bouncer came up to her, and she threw up on his shoes. On 5/14/2016 myself and my friends were viciously harassed and intimidated by a man inside the club and followed outside while we waited for uber. This situation developed because we refused the advances of the man that was harassing us. We were trying to stay at the door of the club so we could avoid the man that was harassing us, but one of bouncers rudely kicked us out in the front. In the front of the club is where we started being sexually harassed and called multiple b*tches by the same man that would not leave us alone inside the club. My friend had approached the bouncer on several occasions to help but instead refused and found our situation to be amusing. I do not advise my fellow women to come here. Safety is #1. read more

I NEVER go to clubs. I came for my birthday. I walk my girlfriend out to her lyft and when I attempt to walk back upstairs security stops me as if I never was there. The person that worked door (takes money) said she never saw me. I've already spent 150 dollars there but because I didn't stop explaining myself when the basic shaved side small pony tail guy told me to, couldn't back in. I couldn't go and at least tell my friends they had an issue. This place is disrespectful and people will continue to go here that's fair. Not sure what happened to my previous review for this place but it has miraculously disappeared! This one won't be as long and detailed but I will say this.... If you enjoy being treated like garbage, called names and completely disrespected by incompetent morons calling themselves bouncers, then I definitely recommend that you continue to patronize this establishment. There are many places in the surrounding area that deserve my business and money. MIX is not one of those places. Rude, unprofessional, uneducated, low class men are handling the entrance and running this club into the ground. There seemed to be a lot of regulars who clearly have karaoke night circled on their calendars. I didn't sing, but my friend got up and did a Quiet Riot song... which felt appropriate considering we're all straight out of the '90s ourselves. There's also a lot more seating now -- tall tables and stools instead of the little round tables that looked left over from the 1970s. I don't know when I'll be back, but if another occasion comes up where old friends are getting together and this is the chosen spot, I'm definitely in.

However, I advised how to make the drink and they said they could do it, then the response changed, so this reasoning is unsound and mostly irrelevant. I'll never return here. Their cocktails are weak, the bartenders have horrible customer service, and the owners support said weak cocktails and poor customer service - this is a recipe for a subpar evening. Hard pass.
