    The Works: Bibimbop w/Spicy Pork

Friendly and helpful service. Clean and bright dining area. Jap Chae was a little on the mushy side, but everything including the Banchan was full of flavor and texture. Fried chicken and lotus roots were crunchy awesomeness. Bibimbop was fresh and tasty. Hot sauce was on the side which was perfect, but I did have to add a lot, which I don't mind because I could adjust to my taste. Definitely like the mixed purple rice too. Stopping by was a random event but a great occasion with friends.

I'm glad we discovered this restaurant. The place is light and airy. They have outdoor dining as well. The food was excellent! Soup was part of the entree we ordered which I enjoyed. We had the soy garlic chicken wings and pork belly. The Korean Ginger Honey Iced Tea was refreshing. I look forward coming back to try the other dishes! Service was just right:)

Small restaurant that feels more like a food court style. Service was okay. Food was delicious . Got the bibimbap and it was one of the best ones I've had in a while. The restaurant can get pretty noisy from conversations from everyone in there.

I tried the spicy ramen with chicken. The presentation was decent, my bowl came in hot and bubbly. Its tasty and fresh, but at that cost I expected a bit more depth and flavor. Chicken was shredded and not tender. I'd rather go for other dishes if I go back. We were there before alot of customers and had to wait a long time before they got to our order.

Was craving for Korean food and this was the closest spot! It's a decent Korean restaurant with lots of your traditional choices including tofu soup, fried chicken, seafood pancake and more. Everything came pretty quickly and was good. I think the fried chicken was only fried once vs some other places they double fry it so it's super flavorful and crispy. Overall, a good spot if you're looking for convenient Korean food

My husband and I have been to most of the restaurants downtown in the past four years that we've lived here, and Mixed Grain is one of our favorites. It's so cozy. Their prices are more reasonable than a lot of nearby places. The hot ginger tea with the little man-shaped stirring spoon? I'm dead. It's cute and tasty. I just had the spicy BBQ chicken tonight, and it was my favorite thing I've had there. I will say the ramen didn't totally blow me away specifically, compared to places that specialize in ramen. Other than that, everything is top notch. Never had a problem with the service.

This is my second time at Mixed Grains and it's quickly becoming one of my fav go to spots when I'm in the area. The food is fresh, flavorful, and you can really taste the quality of the ingredients. I especially like how customizable the bowls are. There are plenty of healthy options and everything feels well balanced. The staff were friendly and the place is clean and welcoming. Service can get a little slow during peak hours, which is why I'm giving it a 4/5 stars but the food is worth the wait. Overall, it's a great spot if you're looking for something healthy, filling, and tasty in Walnut Creek. I'll definitely keep coming back! Side note: If you're a mom who's bringing a stroller, they will ask you to park it near the bathroom since the space is limited.

Had a great meal at Mixed Grain with a friend! I ordered the bibimbop with thinly sliced beef, and the flavors were really good. The fried egg was cooked well, and I liked the option to have purple rice aside from just the white rice. All the banchan were pretty standard, but my favorite was actually the kimchi cilantro. I'd never had it before, but I loved the freshness and spice, and I even took some home with my leftovers because it paired so well with the bibimbop. The workers were friendly, and the inside was very clean and had a nice modern ambiance

This is by far the best Korean food I've had since visiting Korea-Mixed Grain has brought Korea to Walnut Creek! After ordering we had banchan (small side dishes) brought to our table- creating a beautiful palate to go along with the main courses. We ordered Kimchi Stew & Veggie Iron Works fried rice. These were both incredible dishes. Packed with flavor & so fresh. My only complaint is that I physically could not eat more! The service was impeccable, so polite & prompt! The restaurant itself is clean & modern, a new favorite spot & could not recommend more.

    Bibimbap with extra tofu

Amazing food, healthy steamed options instead of frying (yay! Huge win!) amazing flavors, very quaint and cute. Quick service and easy to communicate diet restrictions

They offer both AYCE sushi and AYCE KBBQ, so you can choose depending on what you're in the mood for. The Experience The birthday boy picked sushi for the night. Overall it was pretty mid. The salmon was decent, but most of the other items were just okay. Nothing really stood out. Final Thoughts Would I come back? Maybe, but probably only if someone else wanted to.

Too many good things bundled in one :3 We arrived on a Wednesday evening and experienced no wait, though I imagine weekends are more lively. Large parking lot attached to the side. The restaurant is spacious and cozy, decorated with a blend of modern and traditional decor. Lighthearted pop covers fill the room with an upbeat air. All staff caring for us were kind and accommodating. My partner and I both chose the B course ($39.95/ea). Great options & good quality meats! Even delicious options for pescatarians :P Some favorites: - PRIME BEEF MARINATED SHORT RIB (perfectly seasoned) - PREMIUM PORK BELLY (so juicy. IMO better than their flavored ones because less salty. Admittedly I broke my pork fast for KBBQ... OTL) - SPICY SQUID (yooooo unexpectedly fire) The meats are generously portioned; prepare yourself with a voracious appetite :P Already looking forward to the next visit~~~

Gen was the first K-bbq spot I ever tried, so it'll always have a special place in my heart. Over…read morethe years, though, so many K-bbq restaurants have opened up that unfortunately Gen kind of slipped off my radar. But this week, something came over me, and I decided to give it another shot. Lunch was about $22 per person as of June 2026. I remember going to the Concord location years ago and feeling like the portions were pretty small, even though you could order it as many times as you wanted. This time around though, our experience was completely different. Every order came out piled high like a mountain of meat. Everything was fresh, the marinades were on point. On top of that, our server was so friendly and attentive. Honestly, if I could give this place six or seven stars out of five, I would!!! Honey Soy Beef Belly: Absolutely amazing. The beef was sliced thin with the perfect ratio of meat to fat. The sweet and savory marinade complemented the richness of the beef belly oh so perfectly. I also loved the generous amount of green onions they sprinkled on top, which made this dish even more inviting. I'd order this again in a heartbeat. Beef Belly: This is basically the unseasoned version of the Honey Soy Beef Belly, so the quality of the meat was just as good. The nice thing is that you can customize each bite with the seasonings at the table, whether it's Green Tea Salt, Sesame Oil, or Sweet Soy Sauce. Simple but delicious. Bulgogi: Bulgogi has never been my favorite since I usually prefer savory over sweet, but this was still very good. The beef was tender, the marinade was flavorful, and everything was well balanced. That said, I'd still pick the Beef Belly dishes over this one. Chadol: This beef brisket used to be my go to order at Gen. Somewhere along the way, though, they switched to a leaner cut of meat. So now it wasn't quite as tender as I remembered. Still though, the meat was fresh and tasty. Honestly, it really comes down to your personal preference and whether you enjoy a leaner cut or a fattier cut. Pork Belly: Thick slices of unseasoned Pork Belly that you grill yourself and cut into smaller pieces then dip in Sesame Oil and Salt? Yes please! These were incredibly satisfying. Once cooked, the pork was even still tender and juicy. Easily my favorite pork option. Spicy Marinated Squid This dish had that classic Korean spicy sauce that balances sweet, savory, and spicy flavors super duper well. The squid stayed tender after grilling, it was amazing. I'd definitely order this again. Hotteok: A Korean style pancake filled with Brown Sugar and Peanuts. It's definitely a heavier dessert after a bbq meal than what I usually prefer, but it was still really good. The outside was pleasantly chewy (mochi like texture), while the filling was warm, sweet, and gooey. Kimchi Fried Rice: Don't sleep on this one because their Kimchi Fried Rice was fantastic. It had the perfect balance of tang and savory flavors, and it paired well with all the bbq meats. Super yummy.

It seems like they could use a bit more staff to support the number of patrons. I'm not sure if they had individuals call out, but in our section, there was only one server for about 15 tables. Our server was friendly, but we could tell they were overwhelmed and trying to keep up with all of their tables. It was also a bit of a letdown that they were out of jalapeños and garlic, and we never received the rice paper we requested. The meat we did get was good, and they were very attentive about switching out the grill. We ordered the bulgogi, brisket, and shrimp. The carne asada was just okay. We're on the fence about dining here again. As an aside, I was surprised they didn't have lettuce.
