Couldn't be happier ! We were literally devastated when they closed and had basically given up our weekly Chinese , we tried a few of the "oh so great" you have to try , asn none of them even came close . We've been back multiple times already , it's a diffrent model now , smaller more focused on takeaway but yiou can still dine in and it's just as good if possibly maybe a little better!! I saw this place new on Yelp so I wanted to try it out. I was told that they used to have a restaurant, but now it's a very casual takeout type place. I ordered the 3-dish special which I thought was going to be $45 because a Yelp photo from just 2 months ago shows that price but it's now $48.00. I suppose in this economy, $16.00 per entrée isn't that steep. Prawns with mixed veggies is delicious because it's a light garlic sauce. I do wish there were more prawns. I counted 8 total. Beef chow fun was yummy. The cut of beef is good and not cheap tasting. Lastly, the string bean chicken is also yummy. I think it's a black bean sauce. I ordered in person and the food came out fast. Been going to 3 Bros in SR & Pleasant Hill for ages (35+yrs) Our Chinese New Year banquets (5 tables) were held in the back at Pleasant Hill, which is where the new "Express" is! First, Alan is cooking! YES!! Same great flavor! I understand the model of "EXPRESS" and it's fine. No table service, no waiters.... We've been there twice this week since they reopened! So happy that they are back. We were part of the Three Brothers family before they retired in 2023. The menu is pared down and now it focuses on to-go and catering, but it's still very good. Great experience and very delicious food. The host recommended the Sesame Crispy Chicken and it was fantastic. Moist chicken, sweet crunchy outside, nice sesame flavors. The Mongolian Beef was flavorful, tender, and a good balance of meat and veggies. The chow mein noodles were outstanding. Its primarily set up as a take out location but there are a few indoor seats. We ate there and it was convenient that the food was served in to go containers. The host was very friendly, informative and helpful. He also let us know that the chef is the original chef from the first 3 Brothers restaurant which made sense given the food quality. Yum! We will definitely be back! read more

They just opened back up a couple of months ago, so I was not expecting much. I wondered if they were from the same family/owners, cause I really missed them. I have been 3 Bros customer for 20 years before they closed. I was excited for the comeback. So I am a little disappointed for the 3 stars. The prices were good. We got the 3 dishes for $45 special, with S&P chicken wings, Hong Kong style chicken pan fried noodles, and the soft tofu with chicken. My daughter ordered a hot and sour soup as well. The wings were not the way they used to be. It looks like they boiled the wings before frying them. The taste was off but still pretty good. The noodles were a little too saucy and gooey. The chicken and veggies that came with it were okay. The soft tofu with chicken had too much starch and very bland to us. Perhaps it's just me, cause the other review had nothing but raves. First time at 'express' 30 year customer in San Ramon and Pleasant Hill prior to this. Menu about the same, a bit trimmed down. Most items prepared the same, the S&P fish filet had a different coating, but same flavor. Reasonable prices on the 3 item entree menu, $45 for 3 entrees! Fry rice noodles with beef. Beef tastes off and the noodle were drenched with oil and no flvaor. We didn't eat the beef. There's better at other places for less price. The shrimp with veggies was good but I wanted the lunch special with rice. It was my first time there, the menu was not clear and I didn't get the lunch special I wanted. Probably the most bothersome part was eating off the plastic containers even when we said we wanted to dine in. It was uncomfortable eating there. You have to serve yourself water. Three Brothers From China was our childhood restaurant go to location for anything that we celebrated as a family we were devastated last year when they decided to close their San Ramon location as that was our main go to spot. But we were thankful that they had the Pleasant Hill location. When they announced that they were closing that our whole family was beyond devastated. But when we heard that they were opening again, we were so happy and this past weekend I just had to be my grandmother's birthday and the first thing I did following land landing at Oakland airport was go to their new location adjacent to their old location in Pleasant Hill to grab dinner for the 12 of us and I cannot tell you that it is literally the same quality food from the same family and it was literally incredible. Three Brothers from China legacy continues! They reopened as 3 Bros from China Express. It is still family owned and operated with the same recipes and taste which I am so excited about! Authentic Chinese food, comforting, and consistently delicious! Instead of dine-in, you order at the counter (or through phone or online) and comes out in to-go packaging. Everything is made fresh to order so it takes about 20 minutes. It comes out hot and smells so good! You can either take it home or enjoy it at one of the tables inside. I LOVE the honey walnut prawns, sweet and sour pork, broccoli beef, dry sauteed string beans, eggplant tofu, peking style pork chop, lobster noodle, hong kong style crispy noodle...I have so many favorites growing up eating from 3 Bros. They can still do private party or banquets if you call ahead to reserve! You can also call ahead for larger orders ahead of time for party trays. So happy to see them back! We were very excited when 3 Bros from China re-opened. We ordered from the $45 now is $48 for 3 dishes menu yesterday for lunch.. We had Peking pork chops, Dry Sauteed string bean and Salty fish and Chicken Fried Rice. Peking Pork Chops were very dried. It seemed these pork chops were re-fried from the left over from the night before. The sauce was good. Dry Sauteed String Bean was terrible. They either over-cooked them in water or used frozen ones. Salty Fish and Chicken Fried Rice tasted good. But there were clumps of white rice in there. They didn't do a good job mixing the rice. Overall, we were disappointed. We will give it another try in a few weeks to see if things improve. read more
