Needed to update my review because mixed has surpassed sweet green in my book. The peachy and the bacchans bowl are to die for. The sauces are unique and delicious and they go "heavy" with no extra charge. I prefer dining there. The plates are nice, but the vibes are chill.

    PUEBLA SALAD
    Kevin Y.

This is my go to spot for a quick weekday lunch when working from home. They have so many salad options with tons of customizable options so you can get it exactly how you want it. Much more flexibility than going to a restaurant and choosing from 4 salads on the menu. My favorite is the Puebla salad. If you're a valkyries fan they have a salad named after them too! Prices could be a little cheaper, but that's what you get in this neighborhood, so what can you do.

I got a make my own salad. Here's how to went: Quality: it's good it's fresh, nothing super out of this world but the quality of the veggies are good Options: plenty plenty plenty Cleanliness: the bathrooms were clean, the ground, the tables, and utensils were clean as well, the prep station was a little messy and there's definitely cross contamination but I guess it wasn't the word but definitely not the best Customer service: not good. I wanted a build my own and I thought there was unlimited toppings, I wasn't told there was a limit and I asked for more toppings and was told no he just started mixing the salad. He said it would be extra and that's fine he shouldn't have assumed. I went to pay and I wanted and they said "you paid already, went through" and kept chit chatting no you need utensils or napkins or a bag. I sat down and did some work and had to ask for a bag and they just stared at me. Idk they weren't customer oriented, not the worst but definitely not welcoming.

Mandarin Salad at home sub tofu
    Matt J.

Eating the Mandarin Salad, you'd forget you got it from a fast casual salad bowl chain (not that there's anything wrong with that kind of establishment). The ingredients are complementary but also stand out on their own, both in terms of flavor and texture. And while the pre-composed salad is excellent, the customization option is appreciated--especially being able to sub tofu for chicken. Plus, the tofu is well-seasoned and delicious, not a raw afterthought like so many tofu substitutes. While the service is friendly and efficient, I wouldn't strongly recommend the restaurant for dining in, as it's not a super warm space. That said, Mixt doesn't seem architected with dine-in in mind, so I don't consider that a demerit.

    BUTTERMILK WAFFLE
    Bennett W.

From Saturday, 1/20/2024: Some of the items I ordered were: - Sweet & Savory- Buttermilk Waffle - Sides- Crispy Butterball Potatoes - Coffee & Tea- Iced Latte I have always said there is something else from the menu I wanted to try. The items from my recent order were it. I like the idea of serving breakfast until 2 pm Saturday and Sunday. On a Saturday (or Sunday), breakfast after 10:30 AM or 11:00 AM? This is the spot! Service is good, staff members are friendly. Tables and chairs are available if you dine in. You can also order in person or via DoorDash for takeout.

    JING'S CHILI CRISP SALAD

Ordered the chili crunch salad 1 oz of chicken, if I'm being generous Dry, not flavorful (I ordered heavy dressing - mixed in) Crispy cauliflower very good So obviously a sweetgreen copy cat, down to how they stack the salad cartons.

    Barbecue Bowl
    Weijie W.

We were close by and decided to come here for dinner. We ordered the barbecue bowl and the Dave's taco bowl with kale. I asked to substitute the cilantro lime rice in the taco bowl for quinoa and staff were happy to help me. They also asked me how much dressing I would like- heavy, medium, or light. The inside was minimalistic and modern, and there were plenty of open tables and booths to sit at. I would definitely come again when I'm too tired or don't have time to make dinner.

Roach in the rice bowl, which also was room temperature rice and chicken. I have liked other locations of this store but this one has seemed dirty before to me and now this.

    SHROOM SCRAMBLE

Shroom scramble was not great. No seasoning at all. Bacon was 6.50 each for 2 pieces. Not my first choice of spot for breakfast.

Super fast and good size salad Don't come here for the service, This is a quick lunch CB spot with fresh greens

    SONOMA sandwich with SPLIT FRIES
    Lauren Y.

Split is a super cute restaurant located on Polk street. The interior is modern and spacious- a great place to catch up with friends. You order at the counter and pick your seat. Sonoma Sandwich: chicken breast, sliced apple, goat cheese, pickled fennel, arugula, and walnut currant spread. I absolutely loved this flavor combination. The sandwich tasted heavenly and light. My only gripe is that I felt like the sandwich at times was dry. Maybe the chicken could've been juicer or they could add more spread or an aioli to the buns. Split fries: this was made to perfection, I love the freshly grated Parmesan that was added on top! Overall I'd definitely come back! Wish their to-go boxes were a little bigger or had a fastening feature on it because the lid wouldn't close on my other half of my sandwich. :)

    Paul R.

I come here for caffeine and French fries. my phone service doesn't work well in the space, but hey it's T-Mobile. Is 3 stars a bad review? I like most service, the French fries are good and sweet potato fries. The eggs weren't very good when I had them as a scramble, and the chicken tenders were small with a lot of breading. But the burger was great. I should give them a 4, but can't because of the eggs. I'll be back, just not for the scramble or chicken tenders

BEETBOX, SPLIT FRIES, BUFFALO Chicken sandwich
    Tracy B.

My husband and I were looking for something new. So we found this place. After what happened I wish I went somewhere else. I got really bad food poisoning after I ate the Buffalo chicken sandwich. I am miserable. I had stuff coming out both ends of my body.(sorry for being detailed) I'm still sick. I'm thinking the chicken wasn't very fresh when they cooked it. My husband got the beet salad. He he enjoyed it. I definitely won't be coming back here again, not going to recommend this place either. I hope this food poisoning will be gone by tomorrow so I can enjoy my Thanksgiving vacation.

I walked past it and got like a block away and was like maaaaaan shiiiiiittt Im turning around lol. I went back and came to get a sanny and Im happy I did, I was planning on eating it on the walk. The place has a lot of choices like a regular deli youd find in the northeast. San Francisco has definitely the best Little Italy as far as choices to pick from and its really big and spread out. I had the Goodfella. Roast beef, prosciutto, salami, provolone and basil. I added the pesto and olive oil and replaced the provolone with fresh mozzarella. Best part was there was an old ass lady who made the sanny and she loaded it lol. The bread makes the sandwich and it was really soft and crunchy. Soo good. I 1000% recommend this place and I am sure she makes all the sandwiches the same!

Wowowow …read more... Visited Alimento twice, my most recent being today -- 6/27. It's a small deli shop that offers gelato, sandwiches, and pastries. They also have quite a large selection of alcohol and cigarettes-- which could make for a good quick pick-me-up. I visited on a Wednesday night and got myself a cone with two scoops of Hazelnut Brownie + Stracciatella -- which were honestly so yummy. It was stretchy and soft and made for a perfect dessert after dinner. You are allowed only two samples though so be wary of your choices. Today, when I went -- I was excited to try their sandwiches, I was looking at the menu and the Alpino caught my eye. Normally, not a fan of bacon but this sandwich was fresh- the mix they offer in sauces and veggies were so good. The sandwich was refreshing to eat with a decent amount of turkey slices they packed in. The bread was also toasted and gave a nice crunch with a soft interior to every bite. The sandwich is admittedly a little pricey, but I would purchase again. Now the customer service, like other reviews may have mentioned was a little off at times? It didn't feel friendly or welcoming at times and when I was ordering I felt rushed or ignored-- I was trying to order two sandwiches to which, she immediately began to make the first one without a single word. I chose to wait until she was done because I wasn't sure when I could let her know about the other order as she was moving back and forth between stations, but she finished and I let her know about the other order to which she said, "How many more sandwiches?" Honestly, that comment did throw me off a little, but I told her this was the last one and she did make it quite quickly. Now, I'll give her the benefit of the doubt as she could be tired or not feeling the best-- but I would say I just wished she was a bit more acknowledgeable toward the customers behind the counter as it did make me discomforted by her lack of response and also the reaction she had when I let her know about the other sandwich. She did at least tell me to have a good day afterwards, so I do hope this isn't going to be a reoccurring incident as I really do love coming to Alimento for the gelatos and sandwiches. (~_~;) I would recommend coming here if you're visiting around North Beach! Alimento makes for a great lunch spot with their sandwiches or a nice sweet treat with their gelato. ^o^

Good wine and cocktail selection from the bar. I would pass on their burgers though which are mediocre. What makes this place 5-stars is the service and ambiance. Some of their staff have been there for several years, which is a testament to how well the restaurant is run. Since it's along the Embarcadero and close to Fisherman's Wharf, a lot of tourists tend to wander in. And this is probably why their website says there's a strict dress code. But I feel comfortable coming here in shorts and a t-shirt. The staff is always welcoming. I also go to the Los Altos Grill which is the same restaurant as Hillstone. Today me and my wife stopped in for lunch as we have a few times before. It was a warm day in the Bay Area today and we were out walking so I wore a nice sleeveless shirt. It was nice, new and clean. The hostess asked me to cover my shoulders but I said I didn't have anything with me. She sent the manager over. The manager told me no sleeveless shirts for men are allowed in her restaurant. Mind you this is lunch. Not dinner. This is not a super fancy place. Me and my wife were both properly and nicely dressed. I politely told her that I identify as a woman. She said it didn't matter. I said so you misspoke a moment ago and male or female cannot wear sleeveless shirts? She said correct. I looked around and there was a woman behind us wearing a sleeveless shirt. Not nearly as nice as mine or dressed as nice as me. I said ok I will wait here while you turn her away too. The manager then became very rude and said she isn't going to serve me no matter what. I told her are you sure about this and she said yes and asked me to leave. How embarrassing. I have never been turned away from any establishment in my life. Is this not discremenation due to my gender? Businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone unless it is for race, gender or age. I will be contacting an attorney this week. This is not ok. This is not right and I will stand up for my rights and the rights of others.

The pizza was good, but it just didn't wow me. The crust was nice and the ingredients seemed fresh, but with so many great pizza places in San Francisco, I expected a little more. The appetizers were fine too, but nothing really stood out. It's also not a cheap meal, so I walked away expecting a bit more for the price. I will say this location was definitely better than my experience in the Mission, so I'm glad I gave it another chance. That said, if I'm in North Beach and craving pizza, I'm still heading to Tony's Pizza Napoletana. If I'm looking for something a little more casual, Golden Boy Pizza is another favorite. Both have more personality and, in my opinion, are worth choosing over Flour + Water. The best part of the night actually came afterward. We walked over to Original Joe's for a couple of after-dinner cocktails, and that completely made the evening. It's hard to beat the old-school San Francisco atmosphere, and it ended up being my favorite part of the night.
