Maybe the lunch specials are a steal, but the dinner here is just average for the price. Came here at night with my family and we ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box, a soup udon, and a spicy maki combination rolls. I had the spicy maki and I've got to say that it was a bit too much of the same flavor, just with 3 different kinds of fishes. I liked the udon there. It's very light and almost more of a Chinese style soup with vegetables and some protein. The shrimp tempura was fried nicely. The chicken bento box was pretty normal, however, the portions are more generous than the ones I've seen. The place is pretty minimal on decorations and it's a smaller restaurant, but there is adequate amount of space in between each table. Our service was just average and did the bare minimum. The only downside of the restaurant is that the atmosphere is somewhat lacking. It's just very plan and simple, with random generic art pieces hanging up. One of the better sushi options in this area. The tuna dumplings were some sort of spicy fish/crunch combo wrapped in tuna. Interesting concept, and tasty. Definitely should try this if you come here. I've tried a variety of their special rolls, wonder roll is one of my favorites. Overall the options tend to be pretty good. Chirashi was average, fish quality was good but nothing special. My only complaint is that they don't always have the best quality control with how they wrap their rolls because the rice sometimes fall apart. Also the sushi rice here is not seasoned with vinegar and sugar, so every dish that uses sushi rice ends up tasting more bland. Good quality, taste, and price for what you get. read more

Then when I called back and asked if she could call the delivery guy and ask about an actual ETA, she just threw out "5-10 minutes." Useless. The sushi here is phenomenal. The quality of fish is unmatched by other places in the area, such as Sushi Palace and Masa Sushi. The nigiri size is quite big too. The fish (excluding tuna, most of the time) is in a fattier cut than other places, so there's a more satisfying and delicious mouthfeel. They also give you expensive fish selections in the 8 pc sushi dinner (like toro) depending on what they have that day. This is our go-to place for sushi now. The prices are not as high as Ajihei, the fish is fresh, and the sushi chef definitely knows what he is doing. This place is chinese owned I'm pretty sure, since the waitresses and the sushi chefs are Taiwanese or from Fujian. The mackerel special is wonderful and is always beautifully presented, so get it if you can. We did a large catering order from them once and so we got to try every single roll on the menu. I went to MIZU last night with my bf for our 2nd anniversary. It was so AMAZING and so great!! I reserved two lobster and a dozen of oyster!! That's amazing, the LOBSTER SASHIMI is the best sashimi that I can eat no where besides here!!! After the first bite of the raw oyster, I started regret that I didn't reserve 3 dozens of it. Truth be told, i was very apprehensive of trying Mizu, being that i had an incredibly terrible experience by trying a highly rated place in Howell (check out my review of Kazu -I still shudder at the name). i am glad however that i took a chance on this little gem. Mizu is a great little sushi place tucked away in a strip mall in the middle of a sleepy little neighborhood just about a mile from West Windsor High School South. I can not speak to any of their other dishes, however to me all I care about is sushi. I live in Freehold, and thankfully have a reason to be in the area with great frequency, and therefore getting my weekly sushi fix is quite easy. Salmon happens to be my favorite, and the fact that they have a salmon sushi dinner with 10 pieces for $20 is perfect. I have tried a number of their rolls, but my favorites so far are the Tiger, Amazon, and Passion rolls. Will continue trying the special rolls as time goes on. I highly recommend Mizu! Their Tuna Dumplings aren't stuffed with tuna, rather, a thin strip of tuna is used INSTEAD OF DOUGH to form the actual dumpling, which is then stuffed with more goodies and deliciousness. Just went there for valentines day and it didn't disappoint. Great food and awesome sushi. Our personal favorites are their Crazy & Dynamite rolls, and their pork dumplings which come with a *phenomenal* (house-made!) dipping sauce. I have to update my review, it's been quite some time since I have. If I could give Mizu 10/5 stars I would! No sushi is better than Mizu sushi! Plainsboro/West Windsor/Princeton JCT/Princeton/Lawrenceville folk and beyond should take the time to stop by for Lunch or dinner. Over the past year since my last review I have been trying more rolls and it's becoming hard to pick just one thing to call my favorite although my handful pick will always be Uni, Ikura, Scallop, and Salmon Nigirisushi, but it's really a close call when they have such delicious variety fresh and of excellent quality. I have yet to try their kitchen options, it's so hard to stray from my favorites, but I will be resolute in making sure I try something different with every order for 2016 ;) the Decor and seating has since changed, they've renovated and added a foyer as well as rearranged so it's no longer awkward if you're super early and you're the only table as I tend to do. (I always try to beat the rush anywhere I go) so if you have family visiting from out of state this holiday season, needing their sushi fix, and want to impress them, bring them here. I can't imagine there being any dissatisfaction, since it's such a warm, family friendly environment, and plenty of delicious choices weather sushi is your scene or not! I received a mailer for this new restaurant, and thought I'd check it out. I was not disappointed. The dining room is a little larger than I expected it to be for a restaurant in a strip mall. This was definitely good as the few people who were there were able to have some space because we weren't all on top of each other in a crowded setting. The food was quite tasty. I started with the Gyoza, had some sashimi, tempura and a salmon-avocado roll. Of course, one of the most important things to have in a sushi restaurant is fresh fish, and this was both fresh and tasty. Our servers were very attentive, but not overly so. I gave 4 stars instead of five because the staff had the television on near the kitchen and there was a program with a laugh-track on. It wasn't *very* loud, but was loud enough to be distracting. I was in this area on business and we decided to get sushi for lunch. We picked this place since we were able to get lunch around 11. The place is very casual. You won't be coming here for the decor or ambiance, and I am OK with that. Just don't expect it here. The decor is like a college cafeteria, simple tables and chairs arranged in an orderly, geometric pattern. It's a bit dark inside as well. The only pictures on the wall are five or six large prints of European style village scenes and a sushi poster on the opposite wall. We were the only people there during this meal. Prices are very reasonable for lunch. For $12 you can get miso soup (very good), a small salad (clearly pre-refrigerated and tasteless dressing), five pieces of sushi (OK), and a California roll (also ok). You can get the same soup and salad with 2 rolls for $9 or three rolls for $12. They are a bit stingy on the pickled ginger and I would agree with some previous reviewers that there is not enough vinegar in the sushi rice. We also asked for tea and received two large mugs. There was no charge. We had to ask for water. Service was civil, not great, and we didn't even get any emotion from the waitress until she cheerfully said good-bye to us on the way out. The food just doesn't do it for me...it's just ok and if there was no other place for sushi, I would settle for it if I was having sushi cravings. Oh, and be careful on your way out. A pillar supporting the overhanging eaves is just opposite the doorway .....you'll see what I mean should you go. read more

This is our second time at Mizu. My husband and I just moved to the Princeton area and needed to find a good sushi restaurant when creating our new repertoire of go-to local favs: because when in that mood for a good, fresh roll, you just need to always know a place that can deliver. We chose it the first time because of the good reviews; and We were NOT disappointed ourselves! Both times we got the super tasty calamari appetizer, which is served with a "can-I-get-some-more-of-that?" sweet chili sauce for dipping. For dinner, we've shared an assortment of sushi rolls both time. So we can testify to the freshness and deliciousness (and just general awesomeness!) of the Snow Crab Roll, Crunchy Roll, Cali Roll, Tuna Avocado, Salmon Roll, Alaska Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and YellowTail Special Roll. We stuck to the "Regular" menu, on which the rolls are priced between $5-$9, very well priced. They go up from there for the "Chef Specials" options and more elaborate rolls, which we look forward to trying on future visits! So the food is great. Service is efficient and very friendly and accommodating! The restaurant is clean; plenty of tables; instrumental music creates a calm atmosphere. We definitely recommend Mizu! All of the sushi I have basically blurs together because I almost always order the same thing--as was the instance here again. The four stars is SOLELY because these brave soles had an open restaurant during the BLIZZARD OF 2015 (okay--not really a blizzard, but it stands to mention that the asian bistro nearby was not open).
