What a great find this trip! We come to the area multiple times a year on vacation and struggle to find good restaurants that are not seafood or typical "American" fare. Having come from a metropolitan area where we actually have decent Peruvian and other South American restaurants, the food here was right on par with those, including their additional Latin American items. BUT I believe the chicken here is slightly better than most Peruvian places I have tried! And my yucca was freshly done (which is usually not the case at other places I have eaten.) The beans (frijoles) were really good and not under or overly seasoned. Keep in mind that you order from the counter and then take a seat with your order number. They bring your order out to your table. Interior isn't fancy but it's a very nice space with tables and booths. On a Monday evening in August, it was busy and all the tables were nearly taken. Prices seem reasonable. Staff were very friendly. We plan to return to try other items from their menu soon! This area, including the Myrtle Beach region, needed this and that's another reason it deserves 5 stars! read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the area. The rotisserie chicken is juicy and deliciously spiced. In fact the burritos and tacos are all equally delicious and the sides, the fresh coleslaw and fried yucca are perfect complements to these dishes. I had the rotisserie chicken with rice and white beans. Delightful! The chicken was tender and flavorful with lots of spices on the skin. I dipped it into the hot sauce. Mind you, this sauce actually had a little heat in it unlike most so called hot sauces in restaurants! I saved the best for last ... the beef empanadas. The filling was amazing and the surrounding pastry was flaky and rich in flavor. The sauce that came with the empanadas... to die for! A garlicky delight!! Excellent food and very friendly service. It's exactly what you'd expect from a family owned and operated business. My only regret is waiting until the last day of our vacation to try this place. On vacation in N. Myrtle Beach and spending an average of $200 a day on food alone we came across this gem of a restaurant. Fantastic food and fantastic prices. This is the only Latin American (Peruvian /Argentinian) in the Carolina Shores. Location- easy to get to and easy to park. Atmosphere- definitely fast casual, not anything updated or nice BUT it didn't bother me. Service- seemed fast and simple, they were nice too. I originally was doing a search for top seafood restaurants in Calabash when I came across MMM Que Rico. I've never tried Peruvian foods and the reviews were highly recommending MMM Que Rico, so I decided to give it a try. WOW!!! AWESOME!!! I can't tell you how pleased and happy I was that I skipped the usual seafood everyone goes to Calabash for and tried this wonderful restaurant. It seems that almost every review was saying you've got to try the chicken and boy am I glad I listened. My first order (yes, I went back for more later) was 1/4 chicken dark meat with sides of fried yucca and plantains. The chicken was TOTALLY falling off the bones delicious, and if I could have I would have eaten the bones too. Yep, that delicious. I also tried a spinach and ricotta cheese empanada and a beef empanada. I wasn't too crazy about the spinach and ricotta, it was a little bland, but the beef was very good, with just a little BBQ taste, not much but enough to add a nice touch. NOW, talk about the chicken, although my stomach was pretty full and I could have left on that note, I just had to go back for some more. It was that good. My second order was for 1/2 chicken dark and white with a double order of plantains for my sides. I spend less than I would have if I had went to an all you can eat restaurant in Myrtle Beach and I was much more satisfied. AND, the owners are wonderful, checking on me to see if everything was okay and if I needed anything. Everyone was wearing mask with concern for COVID-19. Customers were NOT required to wear them inside although everyone eating inside did have them on when not actually eating, of course. If you are in the Calabash area it is well worth the drive to eat at MMM Que Rico. You will not be disappointed. read more

The owners are very friendly and the restaurant is very clean. I was having a Latin American food craving and we decided to give it a try. The food was very tasty. The empanadas were good but I really hate raisins in my food and couldn't continue eating it but that is just me. We had the 1/2 chicken with 2 sides (sweet plantains and fried yuca). This is where I was disappointed. Having been to many Hispanic restaurants during my lifetime I was disappointed in the fact that 1/2 chicken is just 2 pieces of chicken, and 3 pieces of each sides. I was left wanting more food but for the price it isn't worth it. Maybe they should offer the chicken with rice and beans and then two sides. That would have been better. The food was delicious don't get me wrong but I think it's expensive and they need to serve more food. Sadly I won't be going back. read more
