Dave is an excellent mechanic. He is fair, extremely knowledgeable, pleasant to work with and a fantastic human being. He is passionate about what he does and genuinely enjoys helping people. I was in Redondo Beach for the weekend when my car started making abnormal sounds when I depressed the brake pedal. I did not want to drive back to San Diego if there were serious issues. I found Dave by doing a Google search. He agreed to swing by at 11am but then contacted me to let me know that he had finished his earlier job and said he was available earlier. He explained there were no issues with my brakes, other than they were dirty and recommended I take it to a car wash and spray them down (I did and yes, it worked). Dave noticed that my clutch was near the end of its life and so was my water pump (water dripping from the pump, car louder than normal and I recalled seeing a puddle under the car in the same spot almost every day). He replaced the water pump quickly and likely saved me from blowing a gasket (literally and figuratively) on the 405 and more serious repairs to my vehicle. More importantly, he gave me peace of mind about the state and safety of my car. Dave took the time to explain the issues to me in an understandable manner without man-splaining things or being condescending, which other mechanics have done in the past. Growing up with a father as a mechanic, I was fortunate to get free labor up until my adult life. Now that my dads unable to service my car, it was daunting having to go out and find someone who wasn't going to rep me off. This dude charged 10 bucks less than a professional mechanic would charge for a brake service and GAVE ME USED BRAKE PADS... After having my brakes done by Dave I had them inspected a couple days later at Firestone because of some noise. They showed me that there was only about 30% of the pads left and that nothing had been lubed or machined. Dave just exchanged my old pads for some used ones and called it a day. He should have taken everything apart, lubed it all, PUT NEW PADS ON and machine the rotors (like they do at real auto shops for the same price) Use a mobile guy to wash your car or deliver your water, don't use them to perform serious mechanical work on your vehicle that you transport yourself and your family in, especially when it could mean the difference of life and death in an emergency. I learned my lesson, I'll only be going to large, reputable, insured and professional auto shops from now on. No more clowns in cars with a little tool box. read more

Wow! My brakes started making a horrible noise and I called David for a quote this morning at 8:30 AM and by 9:30 I was driving my car safely again! Nothing can stop me now. I was hearing a loud grinding noise with my brakes anytime I reversed. Went to a tire place and they were going to charge me so much to "fix the problem" which were to change all of my brakes and get the rotors resurfaced. I put in quotation marks because the job they quoted me for wasn't the actual problem that would of resolved the issue to my car. So on 12/28/18, I got on Yelp and looked for a place to get my brakes done possibly at a cheaper price. I messaged Dave and he was so helpful and responsive. He was a really cool guy that came down to my work and checked my brakes telling me that only the front brakes needed to be done. I was so relieved and happy to find someone that was so honest and didn't charge me for a job that didn't need to be done. I am really grateful for that. He finished the job and I guess it was my fault that I didn't ask him to test drive my car to see if the noise still persist. The noise did go away a little bit. Then as I got onto the freeway, that grinding noise got worse and change from when I would only reverse to all of a sudden as I drove. It was so loud and embarassing. So I messaged him and told him that maybe it was something else that could be the problem. He told me to record that sound and that maybe he could look at it next time I'm at work, so I did. Then he told me he would listen to it and will let me know what he thinks. He did tell me he didn't see anything bad when he was under the car. So that was the problem. He only checked under the car and didn't take the tires out where it was making the noise. It turned out to be a loose/broken caliper that was messing up my brakes. I decided to get a second look somewhere else since Dave never got back to me after he told me after diagnosing the sound. Also, I am hearing a clicking sound on the front brakes and got it looked at by someone else and they told me whoever the person was that worked on my front brakes last didn't install it right. Since it is now a few months later, I won't assume it was because of that but this is what the people at the current place I went to has told me. The service was cool, I just wished that he followed up. So had to bump off some stars as this experience was disappointing. read more

"I went to the dealer to get a front brake replaced for dealer without even looking at it, quoted me a number short of $1000! Immediately turned around and walked out. Meanwhile, I'm looking on yelp to look for a brake guy and I stumbled onto Dave, I called him he was at my house within an hour and a half did the job for a fraction of what the dealer quoted me or rather a very fair price. This guy does incredible work, he's prompt, courteous and charges is a fair rate! A rarity in this day and age! another "sure glad I found Dave" moment... my car suddenly started making a smell that I'd notice while at a red light or in traffic... It was nauseating. I stopped by 3 different repair shops one day and was told 1) I'm using cheap gas, 2) my radiator needed to be replaced, and the 3rd took one look at it and said he had no clue... so I called Dave as I should've done in the first place (was thinking he only did brakes I guess) and told em I'd gladly pay for his time and opinion on the issue even if he couldn't fix it... he comes over, takes a minute or 2 checking it out, takes a certain hose off and cleans it out and reinstalls it... all of which takes another minute or 2... he turns and goes "alright man good to go, that'll be $20"... and he was right, that's all it was... I also had him do my brakes since then and once again he's an honest dude and will let u know if it's unnecessary to replace all 4 to save u some $ thanks again Dave, keep up the good work read more

I can't say enough good things about David, he's super friendly, knowledgeable, and HONEST! I bought brake pads for my front wheels, he comes over and says no those are fine it's your back pads that needs changed. He could've lied and taken my money but he didn't. I felt bad for having him come over for nothing and he couldn't have been a better sport about it. His prices are reasonable, I spent $160 for front brake pads (parts and labor). Ok. The first time I scheduled him to come do our brakes, he forgot the appointment, and we had to call and remind him. He ended up coming right over (still an hour past appt. time) and was very apologetic. We were fine and understanding, it wasn't a rush anyways.His work was fast and he priced well, and he was kind and helpful. However, the second time I scheduled him for a service he never showed. I had emailed him multiple confirmations, and ended everything with a clear time/date, in order to avoid the confusion of last time (this appt. was time sensitive and important). He 100% forgot again, and when I called, offered to come at a time that did not work. When I was asking my husband for another time, he simply hung up. If he shows up he is good, but completely unreliable and in no way would I tell anyone to trust him to show up, especially if their service is time sensitive. For that I have to give him 1 star. I just can't see ever using this service again. read more
