Came here for a weekday dinner with the company and loved the experience and food! Came with about 15 people and service and food was great. Started the meal off with spare ribs and yucca fries. These were delicious, the spare ribs were fall off the bone tender with a sweet glazed sauce while the yucca fries were thick, crispy on the outside but soft on the inside, and seasoned well. For my main course got lomo saltado - I get this dish in all the Peruvian places and it didn't disappoint! Beef was tender and flavorful and fries were still crispy despite being in the sauce. Finished the meal with helado de lucuma (tropical fruit ice cream). The ice cream was rich with caramel undertones and topped with strawberries. The large red chicken on the wall was a plus, so cute. I also loved the branding and rich use of colors within the space. The staff was very kind. We have gone to other popular Peruvian spots in the bay such as la mar and limon and honestly those places can't compare to here. My cousin recommended this restaurant and I picked this place to celebrate my new job over the thanksgiving weekend! Came to Mochica for a group dinner with friends and had high hopes. We ordered a bunch of different food items and drinks, but nothing was spectacular. Drinks tasted average and were on the smaller side; one of my friend's drinks came in a bear glass, which was cute but also held so little liquid, especially considering cocktails are almost $20 each. Holy wow, this place is amazing!!! We had been meaning to try it for a while, and I'm glad we finally did. I ordered the pescado a lo macho and HOLY GUAC it was one of the best meals I've had in a while. The salmon was perfectly seared, the sauce was creamy, savory, fantastic, and the coconut rice was the best I've ever had - the coconut flavor was almost overpowering, but complemented the dish very well. Boyfriend ordered a lomo saltado, and said that it was made very well, but my dish was the star of the evening. First time going to Mochica. I had been looking for a place that sold pan con chicharron and finally found it! My friend was in town and she wanted Peruvian for brunch. I tried looking for some options, but we also wanted bottomless mimosas. The reason I chose mochica was because their brunch menu was extensive and actually included a lot of Peruvian dishes unlike other restaurants I found. I made an online reservation through open table. We arrived early and they were able to sit us down immediately; we chose indoor dining. They asked us for proof of vaccination. I ordered the pan con chicharron with a side of fries and my friend ordered the seafood paella. We also both ordered bottomless mimosas $25. When my pan con chicharron came, it had a side of salad instead of fries so I told the waiter and he said I could have the salad and he would also bring me out the side of fries. The pan con chicharron was delicious! Very tasty chicharron, yams, pickled onions and the spicy sauce. My friends seafood paella was also really tasty and both were big portions. Mochica is a solid spot to go to for Peruvian food! Located in Dogpatch, Mochica is on a cute street with so many little cafes, restaurants, and shops to stroll around in the sunny side of SF. The area can be a little challenging to find parking, since it's mostly street parking plus this hills can make it intimidating, but it's better compared to areas closer to downtown. The inside of the restaurant has plenty of seating and the windows bring in so much natural lighting! The moment you enter the establishment, you're greeted by such friendly staff members and everyone at the restaurant were all so cheerful! It was my first time trying Peruvian food so I wasn't sure what to expect. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and they were still serving their brunch menu! I got the Pan con Pollo Sandwich with a side salad and it was absolutely delicious! The ciabatta bread was so soft and easy to bite into. My friend and I could not stop commenting on the bread because of how fresh it was! The chicken was fried and seasoned with a variety of spices that complemented each other so well. The inside of it was also so tender and juicy, each bite was always packed with so much flavor. Although the food was amazing, I think the service is even better.
