MOD pizza hasn't disappointed me so far! My only real comment pertains to one employee named Erica who was not friendly ONE BIT. She didn't smile or make any eye contact. She acted like she had better things to do. The pizza process was kind of difficult because of how unfriendly she was. I didn't really want her making my pizza tbh. I get it, I've worked with food before too, but it doesn't kill to work fast and smile at the same time. The rest of the employees provided awesome customer service! I wish this location had more employees... While they have great service and they're super friendly, the lines can get pretty long during lunch and especially if you have someone coming here for the first time, they can hold up the line. I love that they offer cauliflower crust now since I'm trying to eat less carbs. I think the price is great for what it is! Stopped in my first time last week. They were busy and the service was slow only because they were all working so hard! I did not mind waiting. They were very nice and explained how it worked. I ordered a small pizza and small salad with a lemonade. Everything was fresh and they brought it out faster than I expected. I will make this as one of my pizza spots. Thanks MOD Pizza! This is the fourth time I've been here and have never been let down. I came in at about 5:00 PM and there was a moderate line, but it moved quickly. I usually ask for extra red sauce, it has a nice spice to it. All other toppings were fresh and tasty. And a great pizza for under 10 bucks is awesome. The staff I had contact with were all very nice and had personality. No sourpusses here! The only little problem is that sometimes parking can be tough in the Village. Blaze, Pieology, Mod - The Chipotle of Pizza! At least that is what I think of them... I am a big fan of all three and since this one is close by it makes it even better! Crust, toppings, and service is great. My only advice for places like this is build the pizza yourself! Do not get a pre-built I feel you get a lot less. I do like that they have canned wine. A can of wine and a thin crust pizza, making me hungry now! Indoor and outdoor seating, it is located in the middle of the village which can be hit or miss on parking and traffic. What happened to MOD Pizza. I know, it's been a rough year. I know that being understanding and tolerant is crucial for the survival of our neighborhood restaurants. Having said that, for me to write a 1 star review during this time and be okay with it must tell you something. Let's break down my last visit to MOD Pizza. My wife and I have been there many times, we live 5 minutes away. The first thing I noticed is that the crew is backed up. A large line of paper order slips is hanging over the pizza counter. Probably not the best time for me to order a couple of pizzas. I notice that the crew is busy talking amongst themselves. No acknowledgement of myself or the other customers. A simple, "Somebody will be right with you," would go a long way right now. I'm thinking, maybe I'll try Mountain Mikes, but I wait. I figure there's going to be a line everywhere. Finally, after about 10 minutes, a young man asks me, "What kind of pizza do you want?" Really! How about,"How's it going, sorry about the wait." I figure it's a maturity thing, so I tolerate and accept. I'll be accepting of other people's short comings. I ask for two pizzas, one thick crust. I begin to notice that my pizza maker is distracted, indifferent, or simply not interested in my order, because I have to remind him several times that I want one with a thick crust. After the third time, I accept the fact that I am not going to get the thick (mega) crust that I want so badly. Ok, it's a bad year, just let it go. I let him know that the thin crust is no meat. He's stumped by the no meat thing, distracted, indifferent, or not interested, I'm just not sure. At this point I know my pizzas are going to be less that optimum. You feel me. He just could not understand my order. There was a disconnect between the ingredients that I want and the ones he put on my pizza. It was frustrating. "Dude, ham is meat. No meat." After enduring the long process of having "Mr. I'm Not Paying Attention" make my pizza, I had a seat. I noticed that of the seven people working, four appeared to be making pizzas and, of the four, one was helping the walk ins. Okay, they must be backed up. Cut them some slack right? But, what would have helped is if the crew was not engaged in a mindless banter that was going back and forth between themselves. (Ok, full disclosure, a non pc comment is coming.) There did not appear to be a manager or someone that appeared to know how to manage this busy restaurant. It was like playtime in a school yard. I've worked in very efficient work spaces where people are enjoying each others banter, but the work flows thru like a well oiled machine. This was not the case. It was like watching a train wreck. I'm not done. As is my habit, I ask for a bit of sriracha ranch on top of my pizza. "The meat one," I tell the young lady. For whatever reason, she can't identify which of my pizzas is the meat one. I have to show her which one is the meat one. I actually point to the ham slice on my pizza. Here's the final straw. I get home and look at my pizza. It's drenched in sriracha ranch. My pizza was well covered in sriracha ranch. Well covered. I guess I should have specified a drizzle of the sauce. I ate it because I was hungry, but I wasn't happy. And yes, I paid for it later. Yes, that is what it means. Am I wrong to write a one star review? No I'm not. I still feel strong disappointment days later when I think about it. I forgive you MOD pizza, because of the pandemic. but there's no chance I'm going back there for a while. read more

Thank you for making my son's birthday during these COVID times a success. We finished playing at Golden Tee Golfland 30 minutes earlier than expected. The manager Aaron went out of his way to accommodate my last minute request to deliver our pizza and no-name cakes at the miniature golf parking lot earlier than scheduled. Let me just say that the customer service here was fantastic! Hubby and I had to host our son's high school football team dinner (40 people!). I was worried about how we'd coordinate getting so many hungry teenagers fed in an orderly fashion while trying to make the least disruption to other incoming customers as well during busy dinner hour. Shout out first and foremost to ERICA and JORDAN for impeccably responsive, flexible, and consistent service for our event! They took care of everything and made it all so ridiculously easy! We've been to Mod in Tracy and in Castro Valley. Both have been a great experience. We're able to get quick friendly service, and a tasty pizza in a very rrasonable time. Hubby likes the Mad Fog, and I like the Tristan. The great part is you can go with their classics or create your own. They have all the toppings you could think of. They have awesome lemonade with Marion berry, a full fountain of sodas, or beer and wine at reasonable prices. read more

Think "The Chipotle of Pizza" I'm not much for fast food, but MOD is easily one of my favorite options when I need something fast, fresh, and delicious. Their menu consists of salads, pizzas, & breadstick-type-things. They have tons combination ideas to choose from, as well as a DIY option that costs the same no matter how many toppings you choose (RARE). I first found MOD when searching for vegan lunch options in my area and have loved it ever since. Not only do they offer dairy-free/vegan Daiya cheese, but it comes at no extra cost. For someone who's used to paying extra for vegan accommodations (e.g. almond/soy at coffee shops or subbing avocado for cheese on sandwiches), this simple fact got me extra excited. Beyond this, the food is actually delicious and very affordable (about $9 per pizza). I can easily get two meals out of my pizza if I load it up on veggies, and I actually prefer the freshness and taste to many traditional pizza parlors. Oh, and the staff couldn't be more pleasant. The pizza here is actually decent and there are many options to choose from. I appreciate that it's one price no matter how many toppings. However I've been here about 5 times and each time it's just unfathomably slow. It seems very disorganized for some reason. Ponder this: You come here, order your food, and just when your just about to finish you observe the guy who is managing the oven & pizzas digging and scratching under his knit cap. Then, reaches with both hands to his back and gives his back some love too. Oh, forgot to mention, he was standing right next to the manager. They were having a "pow-wow". Food contamination ĺeft and right. Environment was filthy. Only two people in the whole place new their job. I work hard for my money and service isn't service anymore. Employees hands with gloves on but was scratching their head touching their face and everything else that wasn't food, and then stick their hands in the food to make pizza. I don't cook in a dirty kitchen and washing hands is King. I pull my hair in a bun when I cook. Kindness if it's in you goes a long way. What I was watching was barbaric, disgusting and I don't eat or except anything. So, I walked out and made my family pizza from scratch. I've been there once. The menu is a bit odd with one price for any topping options, and certain toppings (not sure how much flexibility they have). I bought the 'thick crust' pizza for about $12, with meat toppings. The service was friendly, no problems. A nice touch was the included sauces to add, such as BBQ or Pesto. They made a big deal it's 'superfast', but it's not, it's about average for pizza. My impression of the pizza was that it's good. Not exceptional, not especially unique, not a destination (like Windy City), but not disappointing. Very enjoyable and worth returning. We have some nice pizza options, including the relatively new Suzie Q not that far away in downtown Hayward. They also had a Mod branded dessert that is basically a ding dong for $2.27. I tried one, and it's about what you'd want - a better ding dong, but raises a question whether it's worth $2.27, the price of a box of ding dongs on sale. I'd say something more specific about the pizza, but it's a pretty straightforward pizza, fire oven. read more

Tried this 3 times so review would be fair. Price point fair. The 2 beers on tap is nice. My first job was as pizza maker....so, I speak from experience on this one. Food: hit or miss. Management needs to be there and train young workers. From completion of pizza to table wait was fair And acceptable. Cleanliness of restaurant a bit spotty (more frequent wash downs of tables needed). Bathroom was mid line...needed services. Food line was messy and wasteful....again, training needed in this area. Wish they would have better napkins (too thin and you use more). Need real plates and silverware....plastic is such a waste and knives were useless on the paper pizza is served on....slicer could learn how to cut all the way through... just saying. First time: a bit overwhelming to decide from the multiple choices....and the pressure of having people behind you expands as the line grows. Maker piled on too heavy for my over eager self....just too much to make for a comfortable eating the slice. Beer that night was good. Salad was unsatisfactory. ... they just toss together stuff from the line. In my opinion not worth the charge.... Second time: pure perfection. Worker listened, did not overload pie. Listened when I wanted half red and half white (2 flavor profiles). Beer choices spot in. Did not know they closed in 30 minutes. Why so early on a Saturday night?..so ended up feeling rushed....my fault I guess but might had been nice if when I was asked eat in or eat out that I knew this. Ended up being uncomfortable with people cleaning around me and asking if I was done yet while I was eating. Asked twice if I needed a box in 5 minutes....rushed much? Really, don't eat in if they close in 30 minutes.... Third time: by now I have the routine down. Look worker in the eye and say I wish to make my pie half white and the other half red, turn to answer my friends question and low and behold chickie has mixed together the red and white sauces! ? I state that's not what I asked for....she says yes you did, do you want mozzarella? Asked if she could start over the way I asked for....nope. needless to say, I ended up only eating half as pizza was a total disappointment. When the heart wants two halfs, it wants too different halfs...one with white sauce and one with red. One side chicken, one with meat. Sigh. Let's not mention the youngster's unwillingness to satisfy me. Bad form. As the promise is to "get it the way you want"....well it fell way short. Again, the work area was messy and wasteful. Hate that. ... wish there was better training or management on site. Maybe they need my help in being more green and customer service oriented? I will hesitate returning. Well maybe for the beer. Omg, there was a hair in my pizza and it was just opened and the first slice had it baked into the meats part low in the pizza! So gross but all of the workers were teaching on top of each other and grabbing stuff from one side to the other. TL;DR: really long wait time, friendly service, quality pizzas, good price Build-your-own pizzas are becoming more and more common, it seems. It's more of a niche option for me, but I think it comes into my cravings from time to time. Mod doesn't deviate from the formula too much, but pull themselves ahead with good service and great pizzas. I wasn't a fan of the extremely long wait for my meal, but I feel like I enjoyed it for the most part. I built my own Mod pizza with various toppings. MOD PIZZA (3.5/5) - Good variety in toppings - Made really well (not burnt, everything cooked) - Marinated red bell peppers and corn were really good - Lots of options and endless toppings, same price - Good portion for one person and not too pricey The staff was really friendly and got whatever we needed. The line went by extremely slowly probably because of this. From the back of the line on a busy night, it took us over 20 minutes to get to the front. Luckily, we were able to get seated and eat pretty quickly after that. I don't go to the Village too often for meals, but I wouldn't be opposed to returning in the future. I stumbled upon this place. I had a horrible day and My pizza chef was Dasia and she made me the fattest pizza ever. Very patient and generous with portion sizes. Very friendly staff. This is my new go to pizza spot. As I was writing this review Jacob offered me a milk shake just because I was having a bad day. I tasted my Mediterranean style custom chicken, feta, olive pesto pizza and was absolutely delighted that it cooked all the way through in 5-6 minutes. New go to pizza spot!
