The service was definitely horrible. It wasn't a busy time, there was only my girlfriend and I there, and the lady acted like if she was in a hurry, I could barely order!! Pizza is always really good! Very fresh. Friendly staff. But hard to find a clean table. After sitting here for over 45 min I noticed no one ever came out to sweep or wipe down the tables. This staff is awesome right now. Never get anything but a "how can i help you" vibe. I let one staff member know that I prefer my pizza crispy and was curious if there was anything that could be done. He ran a special roller over it and also may have cooked it a tad longer, but I really appreciate how he showed me it could improve the pizza that I already like. It's hard to come to Mod and not leave eating something you enjoy. I like trying a lot of different cheese especially the gorgonzola, ricotta and feta. Another tip I got for getting a crispier pizza is just to avoid the juicy toppings like roasted red peppers and the pineapple were some of bigger culprits of mine. The other great thing about MOD is they are a great place to comfortable eat with a large group. They have huge big tables and it's a really nice option. read more

DISSAPOINTING I ordered on their website a delivery and received it late but what's worst we got 3 burnt pizzas and when I mean burnt it's BLACK (see for yourself pictures) it smelled burnt and tasted terrible. Today is their official opening day, and our experience was great even amid the commotion and crowds. The employees are VERY friendly. We also met the social media man, Chris, who is quite personable and helpful. An 11" pizza with unlimited toppings costs under $8 which is extremely fair, especially for a lunch meal. They also offer a 6" mini size for under $5, as well as salads, pizza with salad on top, cinnamon strips, and garlic strips. There are so many variations of everything from sauces to types of meat and dressings. I went with the mixed red and white sauce, but it didn't do much for me so I would just stick to the red sauce next time. I had to ask for more of most ingredients, especially the cheese, but I understand that they don't know how many toppings I am going to add and thus don't want to overload it. So go ahead and ask for more if you're not going to weigh your pizza down. The thin crust held up really well to the toppings, no flopping at all! The cheese also tasted very fresh. MOD offers some unique beverage options such as Caramelized Pear Iced Tea and Marion Blackberry Lemonade. Shakes and floats are available to accompany your pizza as well. It takes about 5 minutes to cook before it comes out of the wood-fired oven. In fact, ours was ready before we even finished paying. Mod originated from Bellevue, Washington and on 8-31 it was their Grand Opening. I also met Chris, one of the managers for the Laguna location, passionately talking about the food and beer here. Yes, he is right. The toppings here is ridiculously fresh. I purposely did a make your own 11" pizza. They are all $7.87 here unless you get the gluten free option or the bigger size. I got basil at the end of the pizza and let me tell you, some of these Chipotle pizza place couldn't get that right! Fortunately for MOD, this little topping makes me happy. The basil wasn't bruised and it was plenty. Not like just a sliver. Seriously, when did basil become an expensive topping? I was happy I got plenty here. What also made me really happy is the dough here. It is crunchy and chewy at the same time. Not like the cookie crunchy that I get at some of their competitors that tastes like pre-made dough. I can officially say I love this place! They have traditional and untraditional sauces and toppings here. Oh, and manager Chris said they make the roasted garlic daily here! I really don't understand the inconsistency of this place. Sunday's have truly proven to be the worst. The restaurant is filthy and tables dirty. Bathrooms are terrible, definitely do not take kids in there. The employees are very unsociable and very unhappy to be here. They are getting paid to make pizzas, they have no idea what hard work for little pay is. You can't even get greeted when your standing at the counter. The one star is for the value of the pizza for the MOD price, any ay you want it. They have salads too. But there is no consistency there! I order a MOD salad, one day it's a small size the next day I have enough to eat and still have a Togo bowl. For whatever reason, these guys lean towards piling all the ingredients up in the middle of the pie and leave a large ring of unadorned crust around the edge. What was unusual tonight is that even after asking they spread the sauce and cheese to the edge, they appeared to not know how to do that. I said, "that looks like a pyramid, can you move some of that stuff towards the edges so it's more evenly distributed?" After picking up a pepperoni and moving it from one side of the pyramid to the other, I gave up. My fave pizza place!! I drive all the way from FV/Santa Ana for this place. Way better than Blaze Pizza. The topping options are great and they offer plant based sausage and a vegan dairy free cheese!! A big thanks from all the vegans!!! The vibe is very laid-back and casual. I recommend getting the spicy red sauce and garlic on your pizza.... So good...! The only thing I would say needs an improvement is the attention they give the drink/utensil section. MOD is a solid option as a whole. While it isn't gourmet pizza, or as good as some delivery options, for the price and also the convenience, this place is solid. A few things of note: 1. Mod allows you to select as many toppings as you would like, to truly "MOD"ify your pizza to your liking. This separates MOD from other fast casual places who have been stepping away from the unlimited toppings in favor of "pick 3 toppings" 2. The staff has been well trained in being genuine and friendly. While there is noticeable turnover in employees, the consistency in how friendly the staff is impresses me. 3. The food is solid. As I mentioned before, this isn't at the level of a Papa John's, or Pizza Hut, for what it is, it's pretty good! The pizza was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of crunch. You can taste the "fresh & fire grill oven" in every bite. Size: Its perfect for a couple with smaller appetites to share or for one hungry person to take down on their own. The usually cut in quarters but will cut for 8 slices if requested. Price: Very friendly, you're paying right around $8-9 for one pizza. Take advantage of the unlimited toppings and make it worth every penny. Service: 10 points! They were awesome and super welcoming. Nothing but smiles. It's nice being treated like a human, rather just another patron walking through the door. It's obvious everyone there enjoys their job and that they want to give everyone a unique experience. My suggestion: Ask for more sauce. This is the only thing I wanted to do differently. Came to this location to use my free mod pizza certificate that I got from a yelp event from a few weeks ago. This location is new so I decided to check it out. I love the decor to this place! Super cute and simple. This location is very big compared to the laguna hills location. There's a set menu you can pick from or you can build your own pizza. My pizza turned out great with the perfect crunch. As the girl was making my pizza, I noticed she was a little stingy with toppings and she didn't add as much toppings as I would like. The laguna hills location would stack my pizza with a lot of toppings. I just wish they would add more toppings. Other than that, I had a great experience with this location. I'd like to give this place 3.5 stars, but the great customer service made me round up. I was pretty skeptical about MOD pizza, both because 'craft pizza chain' is an oxymoron and because the name is, well, a bit tacky. First off, the customer service here was pretty fantastic! Everyone was very welcoming and helpful and cheerful. I was definitely impressed. Some areas for improvement, however, were obvious. Most notably, it was freezing inside! It was cold and raining outside, customers all wearing jackets and hats, yet these guys had the A/C blasting in the restaurant. When I asked why they had the A/C on when it's so cold out, they said they were trying to 'find the balance' so that it wasn't too hot for them near the oven. What?!? You see, I spent over a decade working in restaurants, including lots of time next to a wood-fired pizza oven. Professional kitchens are hot! Suck it up, boys! If you work next to a large oven with open flames and you're not sweating your a** off, something is wrong. I was planning to eat inside to warm up after a cold afternoon at the beach, but instead had to go eat in my car just so I could take my hat and coat off while eating. That's just ridiculous. Other areas for improvement... The music playing out front is LOUD. As in, cover your ears as you walk to the door. As in, I couldn't even make a phone call in my car, in the parking lot, because it was so loud. As in, the water in my cup, in the car, in the parking lot, was vibrating from the bass of their music. I thought I was going to a pizza joint, not a night club. Last but certainly not least, the pizza... Not at all bad, but I went there specifically because it was described as "crispy crust, wood-fired pizza". I think they missed the memo on the crispy part! Proper wood-fired thin crust pizza should be slightly burnt on the edges of the crust. This one was pretty undercooked. The crust was chewy. There was also nothing special about the sauce or crust, and while they did have some unique toppings, most of them were pretty basic. Will I go back? Unsure. I certainly won't crave their pizza over any other pizza, but the top-notch customer service was enough that I may give the pizza another shot. read more

I think this is my new favorite "design your own pizza" place! In fact, I'd say I like MOD Pizza better than Pizza Rev and Pieology! Why? The crust. Wood-fire, thin enough and crispy, it was the perfect trifecta that partied on in my mouth. Comparably priced to all the other DIY pizza houses, MOD also offers beer/wine, salads, and shakes. I dunno about ordering a shake with my pizza, but at least I know I have that choice. I ordered one of their "Squad Favorites", the Valencia. I couldn't find it on their menu, but from memory (and from the photos I took) it had a white sauce base, moz cheese, chorizo, red onion slices, tomato, cilantro, a lemon slice, and was topped off with a "Sri-Rancha" finishing sauce. It was spicy and divine. Since it was only my first visit, I intend to go back and actually create my own pizza--give me all the roasted garlic, artichoke hearts, and olives please! Looking forward to my next visit (and the ensuing stomachache that all the garlic will do to me--no regrets)! read more
