It draws a younger crowd and it feels more happening than most of the other similar joints. Expect pre-designed Pizzas to have funky names and a mix of contrasting ingredients. Took my first trip to Mod Pizza with my husband and son. I went for the tried and pepperoni, my husband got a sausage, mushroom, jalapeno and roasted peppers. Both were fantastic. However, the most incredible pizza was my son's. He told the pizza chef to make his best anything. His pizza was the best of everything. All this in 15 minutes for under $10 a person with a drink. MOD PIZZA PLACE DOESN'T WASH THEIR DISHES!!! Truly horrible experience. First time I ever wrote a review. However, I'm still angry about my experience two weeks ago. I went to this place because it's in area where it's easy for kids to run around after dinner. Mod Pizza is also a very big restaurant so it's been a place I've taken my kids to. In fact, I was there the week before and the Manager was very pleasant. So it was with surprise that when I got my plates, several were dirty (shockingly unwashed or poorly washed). Literally seemed as though dirty plates were mistakenly added to clean plates. When I went back to the counter to get new plates, several of the new plates were also dirty! At that point, I insisted to look at one plate at a time, Surprisingly, the staff member looked annoyed with me. As I walked back to my table with the new plates, I turned back to the staff member and said that it would have been nice if he showed some concern or at least apologized for the inconvenience. For some reason, another staff member asked me what the issue was and I told her the same thing. Again, instead of apologizing, she also seemed annoyed. As I walked back to the table, the same Manager from the week before asked me what the issue was. I assumed he would handle the situation appropriately. Instead, the Manager asked me if I took the plates off the counter and that I shouldn't do that and that only staff are allowed to handle the plates. I told him that I didn't and that I was not happy with his staff's handling of the situation. Again, no apology. I share the above with such detail so that the manager and his staff will be reminded of the situation and that their actions are the reason I will NEVER GO BACK AGAIN to Mod Pizza in Huntington Beach and I will let everyone I know never to go there either. Based on my spending, I figure that's worth about $200-300 / year. Not a big amount and it's not the reason why the Manager should care. He should care because he has staff that don't do their jobs well and that they have a problem with hygiene. At least they did on the last time I will ever eat at Mod Pizza. read more

I have eaten here about 4 times and have to say, it is nice to be able to build your own pizza and watching them make it. I never knew they added salt on top of the pizza after it's baked, a lot of salt so I had to watch to make sure they didn't do that to mine. I don't like salt on my pizza and it's so much too! I didn't like having to watch their every move to make sure they didn't do that. I would just have the salt at the table or on the counter and let the customer decide not them. Also, the pizza is good but the four times I ate there my blood pressure went up and bad stomach acid and I was sick. I never have any problems with pizza anywhere else but here. I think they must be putting a lot of salt in their sauce. I don't eat here anymore. Unless you're a salt junkie and can eat salt be careful when you eat here. read more

The pizza concept is pretty much spot on like the Pile-it-On Pizza at Bella Terra on Edinger and Beach, so I don't have much to say about this location except MOD has a chewier crust than PiO, so sorry, PiO-Pizza; I'm giving the dibs to MOD. The staff was really friendly, and you have a variety of toppings to choose from spicy Italian sausage to artichoke hearts to even sun-dried tomatoes and hot peppers. They have quite a few locations as far as SoCal is concerned, even though this place was established up in Washington state. The pizza was actually pretty good but I was so grossed out by thick layer of dust, hand prints and sticky food on the glass right above the food. For sure some of that dust is making it's way into the ingredients. I was too embarrassed to say something (I don't like conflict) but I hope someone does because it was gross. They are looking at that all day...why in the heck does it look like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks?!! It also, kinda bugs me that they put the tiniest amount of sauce and cheese on the pizza. You can ask for more but it's just annoying you have to. Especially if you are ordering plain cheese pizza for your kid. I am still giving it 3 stars because I was able to add tons of toppings and it was delicious. I'm just hoping none of that dust made it into my food. The most important thing in a restaurant should be cleanliness and food safety. I hope someone sees this and it changes because I would love to come back. What can I say about this MOD pizza? 1. Great service! They're very fast and friendly but be patient with them though when there's a rush they hustle but logistically they need time to make your pizza delicious! Zach (Zack) is the man! 2. The pizza is delicious. They're generous with their fresh toppings, cook their pizza perfectly, and have great finishing sauces! Get creative with your choices! 3. Gluten free pizza!!! Yes it does cost an extra $2+ but it's worth it. I'm allergic to wheat so MOD comes in clutch supplying my desire to devour pizza without the consequences of eating wheat! If you're looking for something new or you can't have gluten, come here you won't be let down. My family and I come here quite often and it continues to satisfy our pizza needs! This place is really great. I love the concept of the entire business. They are environmentally friendly. Also they have gluten free and dairy free choices which I get when I come with my client who has this type of diet. It's very accommodating and fast. The staff are friendly and there's really nothing wrong with the place unless you are the type of person who doesn't like making decisions. But in that case I would just ask them to surprise you and make what they would want. I love diy pizza places. This store is in the same plaza as Albertsons and Staples. Plenty of seats compared to some other diy pizza places so good for groups. So.. if this were the only diy pizza place then i would give it 4 stars but comparing to BLAZE, Pile it on Pizza, Pieology, i give it 3 stars because it offers fewer choices in toppings and less in quantity for about the same price. They do offer various drink choices such as milk shakes, homemade lemonade, teas. I do like that they offer various sizes in pizza esp. This place is like the Subway of pizza...you get to build your own pizza by choosing the sauce, the cheese, and the ingredients..you can even double stack the pizza! Yes there are salads too that you can also build your own. I really like this place. People always give me a hard time because I'm a picky eater...but it does make the job easier for them since I don't need that ingredients. I think the toppings are even unlimited..i've personally never tried to add a bunch of toppings- I only use the marinara sauce, cheese, and mushrooms and i'm good to go...but go nuts if that's your thing. The salads are really good as well. For some reason, I just don't like making salads at home..I never enjoy grocery store dressings..so maybe that's why I don't like them as much as home. I kinda wish that they had cucumbers and carrots, but they do have a good assortment of salad ingredients. I pretty much just get lettuce, spinach, corn, and chicken. The service is pretty quick too..they make the pizza right after you order it..but it never takes more than 10 minutes. The staff is also very nice and attentive. I love the concept of building your own pizza because it's so much fun and creative, although I've only been to 3 places that do this: Pieology, Pile it on Pizza, and MOD. They all come pretty close in terms of taste, but my favorite is definitely Pieology! MOD is still really good, though. Lots of toppings to choose from to build your pizza for an amazing price...or you can choose from their signature creations, which was what I decided to do because they sounded really delicious. I got half of the Dominic and half of the Caspien. Both were delicious!! I could taste all of the toppings, which complimented each other very well. Highly recommend those 2 creations, although I'm sure the other ones are good as well. Service was excellent even though the place was packed. I will definitely come back. read more

So this place was no exception, they offer individual artisan style pizzas vegans and vegetarians both have great options too; they offer cauliflower crust, vegan cheese, 3 sauces red, bbq, and garlic rub which are all dairy free. All pizzas are made to order, I choose the classic MOD. They offer 30 toppings!! Their ingredients are fresh and adventurous to stand on the pizza category. Their salads are awesome! As far as drinks I like the marion blackberry lemonade, caramelized pear ice tea and they also sell beer on tap. For dessert the "no name " cake is something I can't resist. Parking is good. We did get a card to come back for a free pizza, but not sure I want to. You also have to wait to pay for pizza and they ask what you ordered. The last 3 times I came here the line moved very slowly and the pizza oven was way backed up, such that the table behind the counter had pizzas sitting all over it, waiting to get into the oven. Also, the last two times, there were large, extremely loud and obnoxious parties going on right in the middle of the restaurant, taking up many chairs and making it so loud that you can't talk to your friends. I ordered online at 6:24 and even though I was there at 6:40, I didn't get my order until 7:15. They cooked about 5 walk in orders in the time I was there. When I asked why they did walk ins first they said my order was complicated. Myself and 4 other people that ordered ahead and had to wait until after walk ins were done were not pleased with the staff's ridiculous answer. You know you eat somewhere too much when you have a full STAMP CARD and a FREE Pizza with your name on it! I've eaten at all the similar made to order pizzerias (Blast, Blaze, Pieology) all with the basic concept of build your own personal pizza. My dad calls these places "cracker crust pizzas" due to the thinness of the crust. Don't get me wrong I'm equal opportunity crust thickness, I don't discriminate. I like New York style, deep dish, standard classic, etc. BUT it's also nice to have a pizza option that is a bit more carb conscious without sacrificing quality and made to order FAST. MOD is hands down the BEST! The crust is still bubbly, not too flimsy, and not too cracker like imo. Topping options are quality with the right amount of variety. All the toppings you want, same reasonable price. Service here has always been friendly and helpful. On a side note you MUST try the "No Name Cake" if you like chocolate. It's basically the fresh superior version of a Hostess Ding Dong (do they even make these anymore?!). read more

I had ordered and was waiting when I heard a rude customer arguing with one of the employees. Someone had apparently asked him to bring up his mask because he was only covering his mouth, not his nose. Right away he started dropping the "f-bombs" about how he wasn't going to do it. Another employee was sticking up for the employee who was being verbally insulted and the customer responded, "Shut up and make your "f ing pizza". The manager was right there and she politely asked him to cover his nose and he continued to refuse to do it. More "f-bombs". He at one point said, " I'm "f ing starving". I couldn't hear all the conversation, but it looked like she gave him an option to bring up his mask if he wanted to be served. He finally pulls up his mask over his nose and continues to order. Then he drops his mask down again after he starts ordering, again in total defiance of this business' Covid policy. Anyhow, I just wanted to say that the employees here are super and provide a good product. The manager and employees did a good job of handling this A hole without a lot of disturbance. If you don't want to practice safety and be a part of the solution, stay the hell out.
