I tried the 11 inch build your own pizza. I like how you can easily customize the pizza. I started with light traditional sauce then light mozzarella cheese. For the toppings I tried chicken, ground beef, tomatoes and spinach. Their oven cooked the pizza in about 4.5 minutes which was perfect timing. Their oven cooked pizza tasted great. The crust was crisp and not burnt. They have to go boxes by the drink machine so it was easy to pack our leftovers and leave. This location only has about 6 booths and the rest of the seating is at high top tables. I want more comfortable seating. They have their own parking lot next to their building and it's one way driving from Kirkwood Road to the back exit of their lot. read more

The moment me and a few of my friends walked in at 8:30 to just order a pizza and go we can't help but notice the employees giving us dirty looks, followed by one of said employees saying "I'm gonna crash out". I've yet to mention the fact that the chairs are already stacked up ready to close the place down. We left because we've no need to deal with rude and frankly disrespectful behavior when all you're doing is the job you are payed to do. Great place for a hot, quick dinner. They are busy on a Saturday night with take out orders, so know that if you're dining in. I've tried a few flavors and they are all good. I placed a pick up order online for 2 pizzas at 9:20pm on a Sunday night (the store closes at 10), excited after getting off early from my serving job to have enough time to get take out before I went home. I was told the food would be ready at 935 so I arrived promptly to pick it up at 935. When I got out of my car both doors were locked. all the lights were on and customers were still inside finishing their meals. when I knocked and pointed at my food the employee wagged his finger no at me. I pointed again and he shook his head. It wasn't until my boyfriend knocked and pointed that he finally understood we were here for a pick up and came to the door. He opened it a small crack and asked what we needed. He didn't even allow us inside. He then grabbed my pick up ordered and handed it to me. It was a very unwelcoming experience. I wasn't late, the restaurant wasn't even supposed to be closed yet. I don't see why the stores doors should be locked when pick up orders and customers are still inside. read more

This is probably one of my favorite places to grab a bite before running my Sunday errands. It's super quick but provides healthy options and the opportunity for customers to customize their own flavor profile. The staff is always friendly and will give some great recommendations if you're feeling overwhelmed by all the topping options. I was in Kirkwood running errand and when it became lunchtime, I wanted something new and different. I had by MOD Pizza several times and thought it was time to give them a try. I have been to a pizza restaurant in Chicago that is the same quick serve concept, so I was anxious to give MOD a try. Great job, MOD Pizza! Your service was friendly, attentive, fast and most importantly you served up a tasty salad and flavorful pizza. Some folks get excited when a restaurant serves their favorite Pepsi or Coke. Here at MOD I was excited to see they make their lemonade from scratch. It was a good mix of sweet & tart, so it was a refreshing drink to enjoy with my lunch. My pizza of choice was the, Calexico. I love jalapeños on my pizza and when I saw the Calexico had them with grilled chicken I was sold. It's a red sauce base with two cheeses; mozzarella and gorgonzola and then finished off with hot buffalo sauce. Their menu states, "It's Hot", but being a fan of jalapeños, I didn't find it that hot. For me it was just perfection. In addition to my pizza, I enjoyed a Mini Caesar Salad. They warned me, (which I thought was good customer service) that their Caesar has diced tomatoes in it. I thought that was odd, but I was game to give it a try. The mix of romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese, asiago cheese, croutons and the diced tomatoes tossed in their house Caesar dressing served up a sensational salad. Loved this place! We stopped in for the first time Friday night knowing nothing about it and were pleasantly surprised. Thin crust and crispy. Build your own pizza or pick one of their classic recipes. Choose as many toppings as you'd like -- no extra charge. My husband ordered the mega pizza, which is a crust with sauce and cheese topped with another crust and your pizza choices. They have gluten-free crust for $2 more, and they have dairy-free cheese as an option. They have salads as well. For drinks, they have great lemonade (I had blackberry lemonade), a couple of tea choices, Coke fountain drinks, shakes, and beer. Stopped in another pizza restaurant prior in and was confused and shocked by their pizza menu. Pine nuts, really! Perhaps I'm not adventurous when it comes to my pizza. Then we stumbled upon MOD where you choose as many toppings as you would like and they create and bake your pizza. Crust is cracker light but very flavorful. The "unlimited-toppings-flash-pizza" phenomenon has taken over this generation, and I love it. The staff greets you with a warm welcome upon entering the restaurant. You can choose from signature pizza/salad combinations or you have the ability to build your own. You can get a pizza with pretty much any topping you'd want on it for under $10. It doesn't get much better than that! They even have some awesome local beer options to pair with your pizza creation. You can get garlic strips as a side and they have cinnamon strips as a dessert option too. Clean restaurant every time I've been there. Plenty of seating options. I imagine they get pretty slammed during peak lunch or dinner hours, but it's well worth any wait! read more

This review encompasses all the MOD pizzas we're visited in the great STL area. First off - everyone seems to enjoy working there! That's pretty cool and something we've noticed at each location. The second observation, it's pretty good pizza! I've heard it called the Chitpolte of pizzas. I would agree! They got some standard options that all can be modified to your liking. Before MOD opened in Kirkwood, I was excited to see something I've experienced on the west coast several times come to the St. Louis area. Creating your own "ANYTHING" is fun...yogurt, burritos...you get the idea. Given I'm a newbie with MOD but not the process, I found MOD's process to be the most annoying and therefore weighs heavily on my 2 star rating/review. Do you know Moe's? Do you know Chipotle? Well, Chipotle is pretty straight forward...you walk up, decide if you want a bowl, a burrito or tacos. You tell the friendly folks what you want and life goes on. Pretty simple. Moe's decided to make their menu annoying and they have a bunch of silly names for burritos and such...you're left there determining what flavor combinations work best for you meanwhile you could just order what you want on the spot. Well...MOD is sorta like Moe's. Their menu (although a nice touch) is filled with "creative" names for pizza varieties. Maybe folks who don't really know how to build a pizza for their taste buds may appreciate it...I honestly find it simply makes the process a bit more complex. Upon entering the restaurant and walking up to the "bar," I was told to "wait a minute" as the guy behind the counter worked on another order (and at the same time coached a young man how to not burn pizzas in the oven, seriously). After a good 4-5 minute wait, another guy shows up and starts our order. We both ordered MOD pizzas (I think it's their 11" pizza). They don't offer other crusts except for Gluten Free. Suddenly, another guy shows up and takes the pizza and throws sauce on in a sloppy manner and goes to grad a massive amount of cheese when I say..."Whoa, light on the cheese." The meat selection wasn't appealing so I skipped that...went to the veggies which did look pretty good. As I tell him mushrooms, red pepper, artichoke and garlic...I notice he's placed a bunch of diced green pepper on my pizza. I tell him that's not what I wanted so he says, "Would you like me to take it off or start over." I decided starting over would be easier...but again he threw sauce in a sloppy manner and went again to throw a large amount of cheese on the pizza when I again had to tell him to take it easy with the cheese. Finally the pizzas went into the oven. When they came out (only minutes later), I found the crust to be somewhat crispy but also undercooked...yeah, all at the same time. I should have requested they cook it a little longer but didn't. They also yell out your name so you come get your pizza. But they do have folks come into the dining area to clean tables...so why not have a runner to bring pizzas to the tables? Nice touch versus the name yelling out thing. Overall, I believe this place is a good value and is a fun place to create your own lunch or dinner. The process may seem annoying to me only because I've experienced a much better execution at other locations/brands. I'll likely try MOD again...but there's no rush to do so...if you know what I mean. read more

The person who is ostensibly in charge tells me that it is because the online orders have prepaid. I offered to prepay, no dice. What a bunch of morons. MOD is a great option for any pizza fan looking for a quick, affordable lunch. My office routinely comes here for lunch and it always provides a very consistent and quality experience. You can choose one of their signature pizzas (which change from time to time) or you can build your own with the endless topping bar. If you get their standard "MOD" size pizza you're looking at about a $10-$12 lunch depending on what you get to drink. The pizza is plenty big but the crust is thin so you'll leave full but not in need of the traditional hour nap after consuming a whole pizza. If pizza isn't your thing, they have large salads that you can create using the toppings from the pizza bar. The staff at this location are very friendly and the place is always clean. It gets pretty busy during weekdays around Noon but they have quite a bit of indoor seating and some nice outdoor tables as well. Beer and a wine option are on tap if its one of "those" types of lunches. There are several "finishers" you can get on top of your pizza once its baked--try the Sirancha or hot honey! read more

I ordered from this location once and the pizza was good. Tonight, around 9:40PM though, I had just gotten off work and I was looking around for what was open. I stopped by and as soon as i walked in everyone gave me a dirty look like i was doing something criminal...and a man asked me if i was picking up and i said no, i'm ordering. A younger woman that was cleaning scoffed at me and laughed as soon as I said that and the man gave me a dirty look once again so I proceeded to ask what time they closed (i had thought 11) and he said 10. So, I just turned around and started walking away and as soon as I did the man said "thank you" ??? actually no, thank you! I don't want to order from a place that doesn't want to do their job, 20 minuets before close isn't bad. I've worked in the food service industry for years and I know that if a customer comes in at 9:59 and you close at 10, you take their fucking order. Won't be returning here again. I've been here multiple times. Every time the pizza is amazing. Salads are huge. You can add whatever you want for the same price. The employees are amazing. Not your average workers. Always kind, quirky and refreshing. They have something called a seasonal pizza, one is the Isaac which is for a kid who frequented one of the locations, he passed away and to honor him they named one for him. All the MOD locations are pretty solid and the Kirkwood location is just as good as the rest. MOD has a very straightforward process. You can create your own pizza or if you are overwhelmed, you can pick a pie from their menu. I opt for creating my own every-time. Unlike other fast casual choices there is no up-charge depending on the protein source you choose. Get as creative as your heart desires and build your own unique pizza. Add as many or as few of toppings as possible, The other upside to MOD....you get your food quickly. Who doesn't love that? All in all, from the second your pie goes in the oven you should be crushing that pizza at your table in about 5 minutes. If you are wondering what size to get, always go for the MOD size.
