Lately we've been blessed with tons of build your own pizza shops within 5-6 miles of our house. We've tried two other places and one whose name I won't include was INCREDIBLE and another one kinda sucked. For me mod pizza is somewhere in between incredible and bleh. The atmosphere was great the place itself looks very cool, the people are friendly and informative but they're very greedy in the amount of toppings they put. I felt like I had to ask for a little more multiple times. Once we ordered it took 5-7 minutes for the pizza to get to us. I consider that pretty quick so it didn't take anything away from my experience. Our pizza was just okay. The crust is thin which I like but the staff doesn't know or doesn't actively monitor the pizza because so many pieces of crust were burnt black. That I am not okay with and really ruined the eating experience for me. There's a difference between crispy and burnt. With my current experience id find it hard to recommend this place. If I ever try it again and the experience is better I'll edit my review. read more

Highly recommend this if you enjoy personal customized pizzas. The menu is easy to read, staff is very personable and friendly. If you have a question they are eager to answer and help. I am a huge fan of build your own anything: 1) Because I am one of a kind so why can't my pizza 2) I'm weird. Yes, I've said it. I like to try things that don't go together. That's how chefs become Master Chefs. Haven't you watched Guy's Grocery Games? 3) Because sometimes I'm not a meat fan. WHAT?! I know. I'm a corn-fed farm girl that grew up on a farm in middle of nowhere Missouri. Well I also had a big garden sooooo veggie me up. I've been a fan of other chains like Pieology and Blaz'd Fast Fired Pizza. When I first moved to SA there wasn't nothing like that. I couldn't be creative..... **insert sad face. AND THEN Urban Bricks opened. YAY! I was such a happy camper. Then MOD opened. I have been to a few of the MOD pizza's, but this crew is the best. Customers select their crust, sauce(s), and then all toppings they want. Seating is limited for groups, but for families there's plenty. $10 for my side salad and 6-inch pizza. Yaaaaaaas. Since discovering I have allergies to gluten, soy, and dairy, it has been rough to find places that I can have something besides a bun less burger or salad. Mod's gluten free crust and regular pasta sauce are on point. They even have soy-free vegan cheese! Throw some veggies on and we have a delicious thin crust pizza. The balsamic glaze is great too! The service was average to below average but having options is worth the five stars!! read more

So I love pizza rift but this is on a whole other level! You pay for the size of your pizza and then you get to put just about whatever you want on it!!! The personal pizzas are 11 inches in diameter and are very filling and extremely delicious! The garlic strips aren't bad at all either! THEY HAVE BEER!!! I ordered a pizza through one of the food delivery services. That was, without a doubt, the worst pizza I have ever eaten!!! When the pizza arrived at my house, it was sitting in a liquid of some sort. Removing a piece of pizza from the box was tricky, as it was soggy. Not only was it soggy but the flavor was awful. I have never tasted a pizza that tasted as bad as MOD's pizza! I had two bites; the second bite only to confirm what the first bite had told me! Visited this location on a weekday during lunch. Let me start out by saying that if you have not been to a MOD Pizza before, definitely check it out! They have awesome toppings, and great pies. It was fairly busy when I walked in, but I was a bit annoyed at how quickly they were trying to push people through the line. They were taking orders far back in the line, to the point where I couldn't even see what my topping choices were. I can understand they're trying to get through the lunch rush, but it really seems counterintuitive because many customers were confused about what options they had. A few other reviewers had mentioned poor service as well. I've previously been to a store in Austin, and had a much better experience there. The pizza itself was delicious, but definitely not as good if you carry-out. The crust is a bit thin, and gets soggy pretty quickly if it sits in a to-go box. It would be nice if they had whole-wheat dough options, and a spicy tomato sauce, but not a deal breaker at all. Prices are pretty reasonable, about $8 per pie, no matter what toppings or customizations you select. Bottom line: Reasonably priced custom pizza joint with poor service at this location. read more

Yum! Oh.my.god! Ordered an 11" "Lucy Sunshine" which had red sauce, garlic, mozzarella, artichoke and parmesan. As they were preparing my order, I was asked if I'd like to add anything else. But of course! I had them toss on grilled chicken and tomatoes. They threw this thin crusted beauty in the oven and it was done in about 5 minutes. I don't have a single thing to complain about. The crust was amazing and their choice of ingredients blended magnificently. Someone else in our party had a pizza with BBQ Drizzle. It was surprisingly tasty. At the fountain drink section there were a variety of lemonades, teas, and sodas. I had the Marion blackberry lemonade, which was a little tart to start, but it mixed well with a bit of black tea. Oh wow! What a concept! It's like a buffet of toppings for pizza and ALL can be included for under $8.00! I chose like 10 toppings and all were extremely fresh! This place is phenomenal! My family and I stopped there to eat the other day for the first time, and did not know what to expect. The first thing the employee did when we walked in is ask if we have ever ate there before. We told him we didn't, of course. He then was extremely friendly and explained how it works. It's a build your own pizza company where you choose your size, and toppings. The price is a flat price depending on the size, meaning you can add all the toppings you want at no additional cost! They build the pizza right in front of you and throw it into a gas fire stove. This makes it where your pizza is ready in about 5 minutes flat, if that. In fact my pizza was ready by the time I got my drink. The pizza itself is fantastic! A very crisp thin crust mixed with fresh ingredients creates a very bold flavor that I hope to enjoy time and time again. I personally got a meat lovers pizza. I love MOD!!!! This place is like Subway, but for Pizza! Everything always looks super fresh and they make it right there in front of you. For anyone who has trouble making decisions, they have some suggested combinations that have never failed me. I've tried several and they all came out great. The Pizza Salad is also really great! Totally not what I was expecting, but it is definitely a great and healthy alternative to pizza. This place is definitely good. They're crust is amazing, they have a great variety of toppings, and it's very affordable. My only complaint is the service. I've only been once but they were packed, we had to wait in a long line that was not moving very quickly. When it came our turn I realized the line could've easily been moving if the workers would just be a little quicker when making their pizza. I think that's the only thing that competing BYOP places would have against it. The one thing that upset me the most was at the end when I asked for a LITTLE more buffalo sauce (seeing as they only put a little in the middle so I wanted it to be evened out) the guy in charge of the sauced DROWNED my pizza in sauce... I love the fact that there are so many build-your-own-pizza places around me now! And MOD Pizza is one of my new faves. It's exactly the same format as all the other BYOP stops (Urban Bricks, Quicky's) but I think this one has the best crust. It comes out super thin and crispy and delicious! (If thin crust isn't your thing, you probably won't love MOD Pizza, just FYI.) Price is extremely reasonable, and you can also choose your size (small, medium, large) rather than a one size fits all approach. As with the others, you can add as many toppings as you want, but less is more sometimes. :) They have yummy options for base sauces, cheeses, and meats too. Fast and delicious. Menu seems a little confusing at first but the staff was more than happy to assist with my questions. I got the mod pizza with red sauce, spinach and basil and topped with chicken, mushrooms, artichokes and Asiago. I noticed the more toppings you put the less cooked they are. My daughter got a mini mod with pepperoni and mushrooms and her mushrooms were cooked all the way versus mine. But all in all, I was very pleased with my food. I love this pizza place! I've been countless times and the customer service has always been great. I love that you can get so many toppings for such a good price. The desserts are delicious and if you have the room, get their cinnamon strips! The restaurant is clean, the bathrooms are clean, and i love how all their plastic products are 100% compostable plastics, even the straws. We love MOD. This place is among our top favorites. We used to live very close to one and Virginia and were very excited to see this location opening up near us when we moved here. Now I will say that this place doesn't have the quick pizza down quite yet. I've come a few times and the service tends to be really really slow here. Not every time, but most of the time. There is also one older employee who always seems like he is in the worst mood and can't even seem to pretend he likes his job. But other than him, the rest of the employees have been found to be very friendly. Very similar to Urban Bricks and Quickie but one million times better. We have convinced many friends to try this place out and they always love it. Their crust is amazing, light and just the right amount of chewiness. Great menu options, or it's always fun to create your own. I love the Dominic, the Caspian, and the Dillon James. Try their seasonal option, those are often really good too. You really can't go wrong. You must also try their house made caramelized pear iced tea. Seriously, I dream of that stuff. So tasty. This location would get 5 stars if they could manage to learn to be a little quicker. The Stone Oak location is always busy when I go but they can always move the line along quickly. This location, busy or empty, I know I am going to have to be patient. Hopefully the more the employees learn the ropes the quicker it will be and I can up them to 5.
