For a casual dining experience where I can still count on the quality with clean ingredients, I tend to choose Modern Market or Cava. Today, I went with Modern Market as I was in the new where this location of MM is located. "Open" sign wasn't lit so I wasn't sure if it was open. There was no way it was closed however. As I approached it I saw lights lit inside. I used to live in this part of town so walking to this little shopping center was my daily routine. Back then I fondly remembered this location of MM where my daughter and I frequented. They must have renovated or rearranged things inside since as it looked quite different. As I recall it was always so clean in the dining room. That was the case today when I stopped by. Two male workers were upfront. They both welcomed me. It was a slow time of the day. They didn't appear to have a lot of online orders either. Hence, I was immediately assisted by one of them. He was very pleasant and polite to me. Once he had taken my order the other male worker's quickly prepared my food which only took 1 minute. LOL! It's so nice to not have to wait (good thing because I was hungry!) I got me the Lemongrass Tuna with Cauliflower Rice substitution (their regular rice is already mixed with quinoa; I am allergic to quinoa so that's a no go for me unfortunately so I didn't forget to ask for the substitution this time!) I wish they were a bit more generous about the Cauliflower Rice portion as there was barely there at the bottom of the bowl underneath the tuna. Other than that, it tasted good. Nothing tasted old or was brown to indicate that the ingredients weren't fresh enough. The two sauces that accompanied the bowl were nice enhancers for all the ingredients inside. I really liked my tofu Buddha bowl. The tofu was flavorful and delicious and crispy. Ordering tofu out is always kind of a game of chance because tofu is either really good or really not. Luckily, it was very good. Mason had the tomato basil soup and it was really good. It was also nice that it wasn't super hot when it came to the table. Not super hot was great for him- he's 3, but might not be great for a grownup. It would've been nice if it came with some crackers or something though for six dollars. The restaurant was clean and we got our food pretty quickly, which is nice at a lunch spot and always nice with a toddler! TLDR: good food, good portion size, high prices to justify for fast casual I used to come to Mod Market in high school for lunch with my friends and order a deliciously filling BLT and a side salad for a steal of a price. Other notable menu items were the basil chicken sandwich, their delicious pizzas, later introduced grain bowls, and breakfast items. It seems that after undergoing restaurant closures and several changes in branding and management, our beloved "Modern Market Eatery" is back with a new strategy. The new focus on build your own is very 2024... and as someone who lives in Manhattan and frequently ops for this style of dining for lunch, I understand the appeal and love the ability to opt for personalization. Additionally, I don't eat meat anymore so I really love that there are abundant vegetarian (tofu, beans, and other green vitamin rich vegetables) and pescatarian options (salmon, ahi and shrimp) Are you dined here for lunch on a random weekday after the lunch hype had died down. I ordered a build your own salad with arugula, seared ahi tuna (previously frozen, but tasty nonetheless), rice and quinoa, black, bean salad, cabbage, slaw, cilantro, and shredded carrots. My total was around $22 before tipping --which came as quite a surprise! I don't pay that much for fish on a salad in New York at a fast casual restaurant, let alone for previously frozen fish. That being said -- With no expectations as I hadn't eaten here in years... I found The salad was super tasty! Each element of the dish had tons of flavor and was totally craving. The ahi tuna was salty (topped with flaky salt?? Wow!) and well cooked--the rice was chewy and warm. Even the avocado was fresh! The restaurant is very cold -- which I remember is why my parents never wanted to eat here back in the day. Ambience is nothing special here, but as it's recently been renovated, it definitely is a step up from the former format. The modern interior definitely suits better to today's restaurant environment and especially given the lack of healthy options in Greenwood Village and Cherry Hills, I appreciate that I can get a bowl or salad that rivals something I can get downtown. All in all, I'd come back but order more price cautiously. I would opt for a pre-crafted salad or bowl as there is better value than doing add-ons in a make your own. I miss their breakfast, but love the new direction of the menu and think it has potential. read more

The chicken and beef was really good as were the mashed potatoes and veggies. I visited this restaurant for the first time this afternoon and had a very pleasant dining experience. The location was convenient on S. University Blvd. in Cherry Hills, CO, there was adequate parking, the restaurant was decorated nicely and interestingly outside and inside, I was greeted upon entering, the menu had many good, healthy lunch options at reasonable prices, my BBQ sandwich was delicious, my order was delivered to my table in 5 minutes by a staff member (great service!), the dining room has plenty of seating options and was clean, the restroom was clean and did not smell, and there was free, working WiFi. read more

If first impressions make a difference, I may have to move closer to this restaurant. The Thai Salad with seasoned chicken and peanut sauce, et al, was so fresh I could smell the cilantro and greens as if they had just been picked. And it was delicious with a generous portion. The sweet potato is thinly shredded and seasoned and all of the flavors in this salad come together so nicely that it's perfectly paired with the Arugula Side salad. Fresh with seasonal fruit, thick and juicy blueberries today, with goats cheese and a little home-made citrus viniagrette that can be purchased in 12-oz portions. Every portion of the meal can be substituted, added to or removed. If you don't do wheat, there are gluten-free options like pea bread for the pizza and riced cauliflower instead of rice. A wonderfully new and casual restaurant with clean ingredients reasonably priced. Staff was amazing and James helped me learn the menu and app first-time out. A definite 10/10. I was surprised it was only one slice of toast (don't know why I expected 2--my bad) and the toast was a little charred. The avo was good, plenty of arugula, but bacon was cold and not particularly crunchy. Overall: Meh. Then 25 minutes later I received an email (I did not sign up for communication from MM, so this was a surprise) promoting a $7 lemongrass tuna bowl I would have much preferred. I almost didn't venture in to the Modern Market Eatery as I thought it was a shoppers market and not a restaurant. A late lunch or early dinner. A few customers inside and a few picking up to go orders. The menu is huge on the wall and easily readable. The inside did remind me of a grocery store though. Clean thoughtout the restaurant until I went to bathroom. Please do better here! I ordered the Mediterranean Bowl and it was so mouth watering amazing. Kudos to the cook who cooked the beef. The presentation was a little busy and I loved the colors. The dressing was plentiful and would order that on the side next time. The beef was so heavenly and palatable. I always come to this modern market since it's in the area, and for the most part I've had a positive experience there. Whenever I don't have time to cook, I'll come over here and pick up a meal. The food here is delicious and I enjoy getting something on tuesdays because they have seven dollar Tuesday deals still going on. My only issue with them is that there's been times where I ordered online and I show up at the time it's ready and it's still not ready, so there's some discrepancies with that they should fix. My friend went to the bathroom and what she described was disgusting. We wouldn't go back. CASEY the manager is an absolute scum bag. I paid for a $300 catering order to be delivered less than two miles. The delivery fee was a whopping $25, and I included gratuity for the driver on top of that. ($40) Casey withheld ALL of the tip from the driver, who contacted me after seeing the order receipt & not understanding why he was only paid $3 for the delivery. I went to Modern Market Eatery myself and had quite the unprofessional encounter with CASEY- who deliberately shouted in my face "that was what the driver gets for delivering." As a customer, I tipped my driver upon ordering and never would've suspected CASEY AT MODERN MARKET to STEAL tips intended for the delivery driver. This is horrible business practice and I'll be escalating to the best of my ability. In the meantime, I suggest you visit another location or dine somewhere else entirely. read more

After specifically asking for my salmon to be moist and not overcooked, they brought out the most dry piece of fish imaginable. It was not edible. When I asked the manager if she could have it redone, she explained that they really just warm up food at this place and they all come out the same. So, I switched to the chicken that was $2 less and the same manager explained that they do not have a way to credit me, but I could email their "customer-no-service department" for a refund. I was lucky enough to go to the soft opening for lunch today- free food! They did an excellent job, especially since this is probably the most crowded they'll ever be with a line out the door. It was definitely trial by fire for the staff and I was thoroughly impressed with their skills. They had a limited menu for the soft opening so I ordered the Farmer's Salad which consisted of mixed greens, slivered almonds, feta, strawberries, chicken, corn and vinaigrette. It was delicious! My husband got his regular order at Mod Market the Pepe Pizza. It was huge, and he enjoyed it like always. I have to admit I was SHOCKED at the nutritional info on the receipt (nice touch btw). My SALAD apparently had 44g of fat and my husbands large, cheesy pepperoni topped pizza only had 21g of fat! I understand I may have had more "good" fat in my salad, but still, 44g?? Where is that even coming from? My salad also had 596 calories and husbands pizza had 737. So the food is yummy and fresh, but be careful with the salads if you're watching your figure. I calculated weight watchers points- 17pts for my salad and 20pts for the pizza! The staff are competent and friendly and the space is open and inviting. This Mod Market will be a great addition to the Cherry Hills area and is in good company with Patxi's Pizza and Glacier Ice cream in the same shopping center. read more

I am a former employee and I can tell you the management does not take care of this store it's so dirty with cockroaches and bugs and no one ever washes their hands or wears gloves when they make your food maybe 1 or 2 employee will but in all honesty you should not dine their. The manager Ashley is the rudest human being and poorly manages the store to the point where all the employees want to quit their job and save her name as dumbass or stupid in their phone. If anything the food is good just go to a different location than cherry hills because your food is probably contaminated or you might just make some cockroach friends while there. read more

I just ordered my usual for the third time modern market has messed my order up let out a key ingredient!!! The sauce. I ordered the lemongrass pork bowl with Chili vinegar sauce and somehow they forgot to their one job. And it wasn't even busy at all. So dissatisfied. Won't ever be coming back to this location since this not the third time but third time in a row. So disappointed. What I didn't like: their water tasted strongly like fertilizer. Their garlic mashed potatoes were extremely salty and when we picked up our food from the counter the guy told us "that's not the real portion of potatoes, I'll hand deliver some more to you soon..and we never got them. Modern Market has some of most delicious food I have ever had. I haven't eaten at Modern Market since I quit working there, but recently I decided to try it again and holy cow is it good. The salmon caesar is especially amazing. The quality has always been excellent everytime I have eaten from here. The Bahn Mi sandwich is amazing compared to what it was when I worked there. The only reason I am giving this four stars out of five is because the potato chips with my sandwich weren't very good and the steak sandwich isn't as good because of the onions. read more

I understand they can have other orders you can't see, but as the manager was sitting there eating while I stood there for 25 minutes waiting, I assume there was no big rush. I recently came here with my family for a quick bite to eat and was quite pleased with the service and food. The service was a lot friendlier and the food was prepared with more care than before. The thing I like most about this place is that they give you normal portions. And by that, I mean, they don't give you more than you need to cause overeating... Oh man, Modmarket. I want to like you - I like your salads, and the spicy rooster pizza was awesome, but your breakfast is AWFUL. The only consistency in breakfast at Modmarket is the burned toast they give you and the pretty lousy coffee. Neither of these things would be a big deal to me but every time I order breakfast here the eggs are so bad. I'll admit, I don't particularly like eggs - but protein, blah blah blah. So I usually eat egg whites if I have to eat them - and since Modmarket's breakfast menu is super egg-focused that's what I end up with. (I tried the tofu scramble and it was sad - giant chunks of unseasoned tofu - somebody needs to read Isa Chandra Moskowitz' scrambled tofu recipe or something.) On this visit there was orange garnishing my plate, but usually it's a super overripe (read: mushy) strawberry - on a couple of occasions I've had strawberries that were actually rotten/mouldy. On this particular occasion my eggs were not just runny, but RAW (see photos) which sufficiently squicked me out enough to put me off eating any more of it. The potatoes, too - were undercooked. At least it means some super good portion control for my diet; silver lining and all that. My boyfriend lives nearby and likes their bacon sandwich (he doesn't eat eggs) so I've been here for many breakfasts, unfortunately. I won't make that mistake again as I've literally never had a good one here. Modmarket needs to up their breakfast game - add a breakfast burrito maybe? Revise the sad, flavorless tofu scramble? Or at the very least, teach your cooks to properly prepare eggs so that your customers don't get salmonella. read more

This was my second time at Modmarket and I tried a different location this time. I don't know if it was the location or the fact that we ordered 1/2 sizes, but it wasn't very good. Husband and I wanted to have split soup and sandwich and a split pizza and sandwich so we could try a few things. I took the order takers suggestion of the broccoli cheddar soup over the chicken green chili and the Thai chicken over the salmon sandwich. Sadly I was disappointed with both. The chicken on the THAI CHICKEN SANDWICH was cut into strips and did not stay in the sandwich well or have a good balance of the other ingredients. The Basil Chicken sandwich I had at another location was a breast and was so much easier to eat. Using strips versus one piece of chicken really took away from the flavor. Was this because it was a half size, I don't know. I would advise not ordering half sandwiches. Also, either the bread was over-toasted or it simply wasn't fresh (unlike the outstanding ciabatta I had at the other location). The BROCCOLI CHEDDAR soup was okay, but I don't know why cheddar was in the name. It was misleading. If it would have been called broccoli potato soup, I would have been pleased with the flavor, but I simply was wanting some cheddar in my soup. I would not order again. As for my husband, he ordered a pepperoni pizza and salmon sandwich. The PIZZA had good flavor (tasty sauce, cheese, and pepperoni), but the dough was way too soft and even could be described as mushy. You needed a fork to eat it because it was too difficult to pick up, but sadly we weren't given one and there were none at the self service station. I would not order pizza from here again - maybe another location of they are confident they are cooked well. The SALMON SANDWICH was the highlight of the meal. Salmon was cooked perfectly, was fresh, and all the sandwich accompaniments have a tasty balance. One note on kitchen execution here. The salmon piece was only 1/3 the size of the bread so we had to pull apart the bread and the break down the salmon with our fingers to distribute evenly. Another curious tidbit about kitchen execution: the elderly couple next to me ordered entree of flank steak with two sides. The meal was squeezed on such a small plate that it looked like the food would fall off. Why not use a nice plate for a $11 entree? P.S. the restaurant was way too cold to eat in comfortably, I would guess 68 degrees or so. Tried to sit outside but the awning did not provide cover for the light rain that was falling. Will I be back to Modmarket? Meh, maybe. I waited a year to go and I lived without it for that long. Maybe if I get another Bogo coupon I will give it another shot, but most likely not this location. read more
