My first visit to a Modern Market Eatery was a good one! My impression walking in was very positive. The place was clean, orderly, and had a great feel. I loved the woodsy feel of the place. It's the kind of place you hope the food is good at because you want to come back. I proceeded to the order counter and was greeted by the employee who would be my main contact during my visit. He checked on me throughout the meal to make sure everything was good and that I was doing fine. He also, I learned, was the one keeping the front of the house looking so great. I ordered the Chicken Basil Sandwich. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. The warm grilled chicken, atop fresh basil leaves, with melted provolone, tomatoes, and onions was definitely delicious! I will certainly come back again soon to enjoy this place again! read more

Where do I begin. First of all...amazing! I'm not a major health food person but this place caters to everyone. We got the pepperoni pizza as well as the BBQ chicken pizza which was loaded with onions and cilantro. This place is now one of my favorites! We stopped by here for a quick bite after visiting REI and I was so impressed. As a gluten free gal, it is hard to find places that cater to you and you know you don't need to worry. I LOVE that they label all of their foods as to what is GF and DF. I got the BBQ chicken bowl and it was SO GOOD. I look forward to going back and trying more. The staff was incredibly nice and didn't make me feel rushed in my decision at all. A highly explorable menu, strong service and a plethora of health-minded options make Modern Market Eatery an easy pick for our dietary restrictions and for an overall enjoyable. Looking for something that satisfied my Keto plan and her dairy and beef allergies, we tried this place on a whim while shopping in Southlake. It's located in the Town Center, which I find tedious because of the difficult parking and the fact it just feels over-produced, like they are trying too hard. The dining room has a large wall in the center of it with a painted sign at one end saying "The line starts over here". We sauntered up like newbs to study the menu and had lots of questions for the girl behind the counter who answered them all knowledgably. We settled on a whole Pepe pizza on cauliflower crust, the Keto Smoked Salmon Bowl with a bowl of Green Chicken Chili. The pizza was delicious, though the crust was extremely thin. Still, it was plenty filling. The chili was also very savory. The salmon bowl featured uncooked salmon and a load of fresh ingredients but was a little lacking in flavor. Worth a mention is some extraordinary ranch I used to dip the pizza bones. It had a fresh sour cream and dill flavor. I actually brought some home. The only thing keeping Modern Market from a fifth star was the dining room, which needed a sweep and wipe down. The design of it felt confining in a few places as well. This location was once a good place to meet and enjoy a casual dinner - not anymore. We had a gift card, so we went yesterday for something quick. We walked in to find a dirty dining room, an employee eating McD's in the dining room, loud talking & cursing coming from the cooking area, and the cook playing rap music from her phone and singing loudly to it. She was wear AirPods, so she probably didn't realize how loud she was talking or singing. Food - our pizza was over cooked. There was no excuse - they were not very busy and they had at least 5 staff members working. Very unprofessional and it no longer fits in Southlake. This place has gradually gone down hill. When I saw the writing on the wall, I had a feeling ordering just the waffle would not be enough. I ended up getting the Modern Toast in addition to the Pearl Sugar Waffle. I decided to try the Modern Toast first, an egg-free avocado toast with a slight kick. I never had a spicy avocado toast. The combination of the togarashi and the green onions provided plenty of flavor and hint of heat to what could have been an ordinary avocado toast. With a few exceptions, I usually have syrup with my waffles. So having blueberry chia jam on my waffle was an interesting twist. It was as if I was having toast with jam. The waffle was light and fluffy enough to not require a knife. The toast and waffle was just enough food for a late morning breakfast. If I could have added an egg to the avocado toast, it might have been too much. Although I was disappointed with the lack of the usual coffee sweeteners (only raw sugar and Truvia were available), their creamer (not the stuff labeled almond milk) combined with the raw sugar did not make the coffee taste too weird. read more

I love a good healthy spot, and modern market is one of the best. They've got a variety of options to choose like salads, sammies, and plates. I opted for their summer special, the Farmers 2.0 salad (half size). The greens were topped with perfectly cooked chicken, strawberries, corn, goat cheese, watermelon radishes, and a delicious mustard vinaigrette. They offer full or half portions, and their half sizes are pretty generous. I tried a bite of the coconut curry salmon dish and it was also delicious. This place reminds me of a cross between one of those salad only fast-food restaurants and a deli sandwich restaurant. Usual flow as you go through. The young me there were all enthusiastic and informative. The place just feels stark, however. Perhaps it is because there was pretty much no one there except me and one other couple in line. We ordered ahead and our food was ready at exactly the time promised. Of the items we had, every one was good quality. I had the Baja Blackened Chicken with a good serving of chicken and very fresh ingredients. I thought the dressing on it was outstanding. My wife did a build your own salad and it too was very large and fresh. The other two in our party had Bowls. A Smoky Chicken Bowl and a Hand Carved Chicken (more like a plate lunch than a bowl). I agree with previous poster that this location has gone downhill. Floors were filthy- loud Rap music playing. Tables were all covered in crumbs. And the place was empty before lunch and employees just standing around. Maybe have your employees clean the glass doors, sweep or at least wipe tables. Also- asked for ketchup and they don't have any. Kicker was a long black hair in my husbands food. He went to speak to the manager and the guy actually argued with him. The salad was enormous, lots of mixed greens, tomatoes, potatoes, and blue cheese. Only 4 small pieces of steak so that was a little disappointing. I did a half and half and ended up spending 16 dollars, which to me is entirely too much and I should have just got a half order of either item, not both. My mistake. I haven't been in a while so my wife and I were in the area and decided to drop into the Southlake location to grab breakfast for lunch... first of all though, the place was dirty... not like it was a busy morning and they just didn't have time to clean... more like a general grunginess that hasn't been touched in a while. Secondly, the breakfast menu has changed. It doesn't necessarily resemble breakfast like it used too. Don't expect toast & eggs or pancakes & eggs. I ordered the salmon and toast... very good, but the closest thing on the menu that, to me, resembled breakfast. Lastly, for what I paid I should have gotten more than a single piece of toast with salmon. I have always appreciated that Modern Market is a different experience. Portion sizes have always been more on the realistic side. But the cleanliness thing is disconcerting and the menu looks like it has been altered to suit trendy soccer moms in California. Needless to say, we won't be coming back anytime soon. Very sorry to say that, because, like I said, I really used to like this place. read more

I came back here for a light lunch. I ordered the eggplant goat half sandwich, which has roasted eggplant, onion, and bell pepper, arugula, and goat cheese. All the vegetables were nicely roasted and fresh. The goat cheese added a soft touch to each bite. I have to say that the harissa tahini dressing was wonderful. This spicy, orange dressing made the whole sandwich more savory. I also ordered the curry split pea soup. It was so good - rich and delicious. Modern Market Eatery is easily our new favorite place to eat while in Dallas. Why? Three words: eggplant goat cheese. Yes, you heard me right. It's because the eggplant goat cheese sandwich was so good. When we asked the cashier about whether they had the eggplant goat cheeses sandwich, normally they would quip, "yes that's good." But this lady's eyes brightened and she immediately spelled out all the ingredients and raved how good it was. So my wife ordered it and within two bites, she said the most shocking thing: this sandwich is better than San Diego. She was referencing Extraordinary Desserts, which up till now has retained the eggplant goat cheese sandwich crown for over a decade. That, my Yelper friends, is a big deal! I also got their half sandwich and half salad deal. I got the Merida, which is basically their southwestern salad with corn, beans, chips, and avocado. As you know Modern Market Eatery prides itself in using only the freshest organic ingredients and food made simple. This was no exception. For a half salad, the portion seemed more like a full serving. And usually I would eat the sandwich first and the salad later, this time was the opposite. I ate this straight through. The steak sandwich with chipotle aioli on a ciabatta bun was excellent. The kick of the chipotle aoli was the ingredient that made this a standout. The kids were able to split a children's meal comfortably and even with leftovers. You can also substitute any of the two default sides with any of the ones on their menu. We would recommend their Mac n cheese and their sweet potato hash. We can't wait to come again. And we haven't even gotten to everything on their menu yet! read more

Another yelp feed (no pun intended) find. I was craving pizza. Modmarket came to mind. I recalled the numerous pizza pictures, which although sans descriptive caption, do look good. Modmarket caught my eye, and I recalled it looked very interesting. Since I only had the pizza, not much to go on, but the pizza, the M'Rita ($8.25), was A-OK. I did see crusts getting stretched, so that's a good sign. Crust good, though not quite as crisp as I would have liked. Sauce (oragnic no less) good. A little lite on the basil. The mozzarella was not heated through, and I didn't like the coldness. I want my pie to be hot, hot, hot. All in all OK meal. You order at the register. Are given a puck that lets you know when your food is ready. Puck vibrates, you pick up your food. When you are done, bus your own table (I almost forget, as I was sitting behind the bus station). Most, not all (not plates, soups, breakfast sandwiches, scrambles, nor waffles), menu items have two size options. That's kinda cool. No kids menu that I saw, but the size options may take care of that need. Lastly what's with all the business provided pictures without descriptions? That irks me. I think it's bad when people do it, but when businesses omit descriptions, it annoys me. Bottom line: Enjoyable and I will be back. There are other things I want to try. Plus my receipt is good for 10% off my next visit, if I get back within a week. PS. Next on the pizza "to try" list is going to be Devio Bros Latin Fusion (also in Southlake). read more

We ordered some salads for pick-up today. I normally wouldn't give 3 stars for something so flavorful, but there were things missing from our salads and no one at the counter to speak to about them. They actually just left our order on the front counter with all of the other pickup orders so I guess if you want to steal other peoples food this is your place. I ordered a Thai Coconut salad- it had no coconut or peanuts. It was still very good (and I mean VERY good), but I felt a bit ripped off. Our second salad, a salmon caesar salad, was missing the cheese. Again, I wouldn't normally say anything because I know the employees are probably late-high school or early-college BUT the salads are like $12. If I'm paying anything above $10 for a salad it needs to be done right and there needs to be staff in the store if I have a problem.
