A nice, swanky place in downtown Elmhurst. Pretty indeed, inside, but you don't need a tux. the atmosphere was casual, not toffee-nosed Fine, attentive service, and a varied American Menu. At the top, a REALLY yum OldFashioned! For starters, Beef Barley Soup wot tasted fresh-made, good and hearty. Entreé? Steak Frites with Broccolini and Truffle Fries, all top-notch. Cooked to perfect rare. Another of our party had the ribeye and reported it was excellent, and another fellow had a burger, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Nice to go to an upscale place and not have the troubles of going to the Loop. Great for a "Lad's night" but also somewhere I'd take my Wife on "Date Night"

It was our first visit. It was busy but they sat us fast. We sat outside and it was very nice. Inside was cute. Tito's strawberry lemonade cocktail was very good. The chicken Tinga eggrolls were very good. The turkey avocado club with sweet potato fries was very good. The only thing I didn't care for was that it had bacon bits on it. it should've had real bacon. The service was fantastic. We definitely will come back.

I can't remember how I learned of this place, it may have been an ad on Facebook. When I walked in, I wasn't 100% sure they actually do breakfast because their entire dining area and outdoor patio combined, only had one customer. Definitely is a very swanky dining room. Complete with cloth napkins, and a snazzy interior. Felt bad for my server since there was no other tables for her. They actually had two servers on staff. Looking over the menu, which apparently changes from time to time, I was a little taken back by the prices. I went with a skillet and was disappointed when I learned they serve the potatoes in whole form. They are those little dainty potatoes, but I certainly prefer real hashbrowns. Even the places that serve you diced potatoes offer more flavor. I almost was gonna pull all the potatoes out and ask for some butter and sour cream. The range of meats they had in the meat sweats skillet all seem to be a little dried out, especially the pork belly. For some reason, they only serve you one piece of toast, but that wasn't such a big deal. I was kind of bummed that the over easy eggs had no ooze to them. I did enjoy the coffee and again the service was top-notch. I can only assume they must do a much brisk lunch and dinner. When it was getting time to leave, for some reason, they set a table of five directly next to me. I found that comical since there was probably 40 other tables in the place that had no one at it. There was one other couple of ladies that had arrived and was sitting on the patio. For $30 dollars with tip I definitely felt it was overpriced.

Spacious place and nice set up. Would imagine it's great for large groups. Came on a Wednesday so it was pretty empty. Took a while to get our drinks, but appetizer came out promptly. Lemon drop martini was underwhelming and surprised it came without a sugar rim, but enjoyed the blood orange gin fizz. Food was good and nice portion sizes. Lots to choose from on the menu and I enjoyed the truffle fries. There is an extra 3% charge if you pay with a credit card. We were there during happy hour and the drinks weren't discounted on our bill. Waitress was very quick to fix it, but it took a while after to pay our check and head out. Staff were very nice and approachable, and while I have no complaints about the food, I wouldn't say there was anything particularly special about it.

I met a group of friends for lunch here, and we were very pleasantly surprised at the entire experience. The ambiance is very nice, leaning toward upscale with a refined chic that's inviting and comfortable. The service was knowledgeable, attentive and pleasant. Their seasonal cocktail, the pecan old fashioned, was TOO good - a big hit at our table. My shrimp ceasar salad was fresh and delicious. It came with a pile of parmesan, but that was easily pushed to the side and nice to have in case I wanted more. My friend loved Tuscan pannini sandwich and ate the whole thing after planning to eat only half. I was also shocked to see the huge event space they have behind the restaurant. I'm definitely checking out their calendar!

I'm trying to expand my restaurant vocabulary, so I was driving not far from home going North on York Rd. Downtown Elmhurst and saw a new restaurant named Modern Plate, the decor was very chill so I went in. Service was very good, the server was nice and efficient, she knew her job well . They have an full bar and the Tequila selection is great with some high end Tequila's Well thought out drinks menu along with Wine list. The food was very good, cooked just right and came out hot!

This is now my second time here while visiting my sister and once again, I left here super satiated and happy! Being a celiac, it's already hard to find fries that are in a dedicated fryer, but this place does not disappoint! Their sweet potato fries are probably the best I've ever had and they have a lot of GF options! We got some appetizers that included the fries, bacon, wrap, dates, and the chicken wings, all of which were delicious and fresh! Our server was very friendly and constantly checking up on us. I heard the risotto is amazing so I will definitely give that a try next time I'm back!

Had other lunch plans that fell through. It must of been a sign. I frequent downtown elmhurst...so a family member and I landed here. The hostess was so pleasant when she greeted us and our waitress was so pleasant, attentive and sweet. I hate myself for not remembering their names. But I judge an establishment immediately off how I am treated. Very clean place, a nice setup and it appears the ambiance looks even better at night. We ordered the calamari as an app ( so delicious) I ordered the cod with potatoes and broccolini...simple yet tasty. My niece had the steak frites with the Brussels sprouts...we enjoyed everything! I cannot forget...the manager greeted us as well. I will return...the service was great from beginning to end!

We went to this new-to-us restaurant yesterday on the way home from the city. It has a bar area, large nicely decorated indoor dining room and outside dining along the sidewalk. We chose to sit outside since it was beautiful weather. Our server was Emily, who was so sweet, very attentive and provided great service. My husband and I didn't have any cocktails - next time. We decided to share a couple items off the menu. We shared the Fig n' Awesome Burger - fig jam, caramelized onion, arugula, havarti cheese - it was friggin' amazing!! The restaurant was kind enough to split the burger and put it on two plates. We chose sweet potato fries as our side and they were the best I've ever had. They were thicker crinkle cut and had a real nice crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. We also shared Nonna's Meatball. There was a slight glitch as they had a huge catering order and had to make new meatballs from scratch so we had to wait a bit to get this appetizer. It gave us time to digest the decadent burger we just ate. When the manager Jason apologized for the delay, I mentioned to him at that time that I had to order Nonna's Meatball because I just became a Nonna and we were just coming back from meeting our granddaughter at Northwestern. Jason comp'd us this appetizer as a congratulations. What?! So very nice! Great customer service for the delay and the congrats. We'll definitely be back to dine at Modern Plate again. We loved it and there's so much more on the menu to explore. Thanks Jason, for giving this Nonna a free Nonna's Meatball! You're awesome!

Went here recently and I'm already a huge fan! I love places that commit to making everything in house, Modern Plate is no exception. They have mastered the art of eating with your eyes and making every bite so scrumptious! While it can get loud in the restaurant, it's a hustle bustle area so be ready for a busy evening. The staff is friendly, although a bit green, but they're very happy to learn and take care of you. I can't wait to come back!

The fruit parfait and pancake were huge but delicious!

Modern Plate is located downtown Elmhurst with modern restaurant and bar in the front and entertainment space in the back. There is plenty of street and garage parking out front or off the back entrance. I came for lunch during the week and while it was empty when we first got there, it quickly filled over time. The atmosphere was wonderful with tons of seats, cool bar, and modern patterns/textures. I came for a work lunch and all three of us enjoyed our experience! I got the Fig'n Awesome Burger... DELICIOUS! Perfect balance of sweet and savory as well as a great portion size. My coworkers got the slider trio (comes with three different slider types to sample) and a vegan burger. I got to try one of the sweet potato fries and they were perfectly crunchy. My only negative note was drinks weren't refilled unless asked for and some staff felt a bit flustered. Overall, this is a great spot in downtown Elmhurst! I made a note of their happy hour deal because I will certainly be back to try some of their cocktails and apps!

I have traveled the world and eaten in restaurants high and low all over that world -- from fried cricket carts in Shanghai to multiple Michelin stars in Paris -- and this is the first time in my 58 years I was told to sit down, eat, now beat it!! I also grew up in the restaurant industry with our family business growing up, and worked through college in the industry. This is UNHEARD OF!! Yes, some guests overstay their reasonable expectation of a table's availability, but true professionals handle that situation in real time and with SKILL and GRACE. Not with some poorly composed text that essentially tells the person that once you've eaten, I'm not interested in conveying hospitality. All of this AFTER I had to put down a deposit for a table!! Who do these people think they are, Quince?! They sell salads and fried chicken sandwiches!! This was in very bad taste, 151. It smacked of entitlement to my patronage but no willingness to extend TRUE hospitality in exchange. I advise you to be careful as there is more and more competition in downtown Elmhurst, and that won't let up any time soon....and you've just lost another Elmhurst family.

How freakin lucky are we to have a gem like this in Villa Park! My only hope is that we don't blow it. Like any new restaurant they are refining menu items and working out kinks. Food and drinks are on the pricier side (they have a solid kids hot dog and fries option for $5 for kids though) but what is the going rate for Squid Ink?! It is also unlike anything else you will find in Villa Park or Western Suburbs, or really anywhere so I would say absolutely worth it. Staff is also ridiculously friendly and excited about their product. While they have awesome specialty cocktails that you will not find anywhere else (pozole spices in a cocktail?!) they are also great making any classic cocktail you can come up with. My one feedback for now would be to up the dish-ware if going with higher price items vs going with paper products. This might just be they are testing things out.
