Always. Always. ALWAYS exceptional service. Doesn't matter who you talk to, they are always professional. Went in for an oil change and tire rotation and was out in less than an hour. They also found that my lights were out so they replaced all of those within that hour. Just watching how every staff member interacts with their customers is a breath of fresh air. One staff member even addressed a small child that he recognized from a previous service. Coffee, water and donuts are always stocked. Their waiting area is clean and has a lot of toys and books. Looking for information on the Costco Auto Purchase program I sent a request for information from the Costco Auto site. Received a call back within an hour from Debra Smee and an email quote. She answered questions and offered her cell phone to call if there was anything we needed or to come by and look at vehicles. When we went in the next day and she had everything we asked ready for review, never any pressure or trying to sell something we didn't want or need. She continually worked to meet our needs, not hers or the dealership, and provided options and suggestions. Debra looked for offers and rebates and provided all of them to us. We completely felt she was working for us to get a vehicle that would best meet our needs. Can't say enough about how professional Debra is and how much product knowledge she has, we will look to her for future purchases. As to financing, Ed Martin worked with us to complete paperwork and offer service plans and extended warranties. Again, we felt Ed worked in our best interest to find products that met our needs, no pushy sales for things we didn't need. Ed adds a personal touch and is enjoyable to work with, he makes financing an enjoyable process. For the past 4 years Modesto Subaru has done our service with honesty, efficiency and quality. Sales representatives are kind of pushy. They fit the mold of the typical "salesperson". Livermore sales reps are much better. Where Subaru Modesto shines is their service department, yet lately trying to get an appointment has been really tough. I've been calling for a week now, being told that I will get a call back and so far nothing. I've called three times prior. Today was #4. It's been disappointing. I don't even believe the operator is truly trying to get a hold of a service advisor just because, in the past, I would have recieved a call by now. read more

I had a very simple, efficient, and pleasant car buying experience with Modesto Subaru. My inquiry started online and Jose promptly got back to me to let me know when the car I was looking at would arrive at the dealership. I put down a refundable $500 deposit and sure enough, the car arrived when Jose said that it would (it took about 2 weeks). There was zero pressure to purchase any additional warranties or add-ons. I was able to complete a credit application at home online, upload documentation (CADL and proof of insurance), and I was approved for a 3.9% loan. Driving up from Southern California my Ascent had lost most of its oil because a mechanic at another dealership had left the oil filler cap on the battery. Had oil all over the engine compartment. My car was taken in for a transmission fluid change and other maintenance and these mechanics couldn't even properly change the oil. They put double the amount of oil in my car resulting in my entire car getting flooded with oil. Ruining my spark plugs and seals. I also almost broke down on the Altamont. Now they don't even want to pay to fix what they did. They want me to pay. Terrible customer service. read more

Long story short. Yes, this is the short version. This is the worst dealership ever and has ruined my love for Subaru in general. Not only does the general manager, reggie white, do nothing but lip service, this dealership also never competed the dmv paperwork after everything was retracted. And dont start on the salesman that helped me, says one thing but when you do the paperwork it's another thing. Just tell me you don't know bro instead of making empty promises. And wants a 5/5 on the survey? I dont think so. Not only did I lose my job, I lost the car of my dreams. Promised to pay $250 for the inconvenience of having to take back my traded car and nope, never got the check. Had to call back multiple times for the mats they took from my traded car, which I did (and that was when I was on good terms with reggie). Missing the cup holder stopper from my traded car and license plates! And they took the Toyota sticker on the car. So now I cant even drive the car because if I get pulled over, I'm going to get a freaking ticket! They said they would get back to me about my license plates and the accessory but those never replaced. so now I have to go to Toyota and order that for my car SINCE IT'S A LEASE. But not the license plates since dmv states that I dont own the car. Reggie never returns my calls and text messages. So much for taking care of me. I love that fake salesman smile. I will have to again physically go back to get the proper documentation stating that the dmv paperwork is done correctly since they still have my Toyota in their name. Yep, you heard that right. They never completed the dmv correctly and completely when I returned the Subaru and took back my traded car. Dmv, aaa, and Toyota cant do anything about it. No way of getting ahold of the owner, but I will find a way. They treat you great when you buy a car but as soon as it doesn't favor you, boy do they turn their backs so fast. In trump's word: sad! Modesto Subaru really made my new first-time-car-buyer experience a breeze. After months of research, I finally decided to go with Modesto Subaru to purchase my 2015 Subaru Impreza. They offered me the lowest bid on the vehicle that many other dealerships simply could not touch- which made me feel confident that I was getting the best deal! George Kramer, the internet sales manager, assisted me with my vehicle purchase. He made himself available through email and over the phone to answer my questions. I made an appointment with him in advance to schedule a final test drive and purchase my new vehicle. He recommended that I provide some personal information beforehand to save time during my appointment. If it wasn't for the final test drive that I had scheduled, I would have been in and out of the dealership within 2 hours. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience! They even threw in a few added bonus gifts (which I had no clue that I'd be getting but I'm absolutely stoked about) to go along with my new car purchase. They originally didn't have an Outback on the lot with the specs we wanted but our sales person Debra was able to get one quickly brought over from a dealership near Sacramento. We had a little miscommunication during the contract/finance signing and I didn't realize the mistake until we got home late that night. I went in the next morning to see if anything could be done and Reginald White truly went over and beyond for us. This dealership never disappoints! EVERY single time I've had to deal with them from sales to service has been horrible. Today was the final straw, had my 2019 crosstrek scheduled for an oil change (the final 3rd free one I was given due to issues on the sales side of things) only to be told that there are no notes in my file stating anything about the oil changes and did I have the paperwork proving this. Of course I didn't have the paperwork with me, why would I since I had not been asked that at the two previous oil changes. The initial girl doing the check in process was wearing bunny ears and was as friendly as a cactus, she said she'd have to check with a manager about the oil change, so I said okay thinking it would get straightened out but then another girl came out and wanted me to produce the paperwork showing the free oil changes - I was treated like I was lying and dismissed. I literally was in disbelief at how I was being treated. It's hard for me to believe they have people come in all the time lying about having their 3rd and final free oil change. There's a reason my initial purchase was from a different dealership even though Modesto ran my credit- it's just been all downhill since 2019 and I'm done, you can't undo being treated badly - end rant read more

We were on a road trip through CA and we heard a funny noise from our 2015 under-full-warranty Subaru. On a Tuesday morning we called Modesto Subaru and explained our situation. They said there was no way they could "get us in" until Friday. We explained that we were traveling and don't live in CA and had to get home. They said, "Sorry, not until Friday." They take momentous off my boyfriends STI almost every time we take it in. Or they take parts off and leave them inside the car for us to deal with. Scratched the bumper last time. This time they removed his front license plate "in order to do it correctly." Then we noticed it was bent in half in the passenger seat so they probably ran it thru a car wash and it got ripped off but they gave us a bogus story. They forget bolts when putting things back together OFTEN. Sometimes they have donuts if you're there early enough but that's all that's nice. read more

I just got back from a long trip and I started to hear a noise that I believed sounded odd, so I took my car in today to get it checked out. After a few hours I got a call from Tamera and she informed me that the technician checked out my car and didn't hear a noise. I was skeptical at first and kept emphasizing when I would hear the noise. Tamera validated my concern and had the technician check my car out again. A couple hours passed and Tamera called me to inform me that the technician did not hear any abnormal noises during the test drive and that they did a thorough inspection. Modesto Subaru lost a costumer. After spending $1800.00 on a 120,000 Mile Full Service and a follow up recommended Oil Consumption test to submit to Subaru Headquarters, I drove my car home after being told everything was good, everything rated in normal. I noticed a strong odor of gas/oil, I thought maybe a tech had sat in the car with oil on his/her clothes. Next morning my kids and I are driving and oil is spattering through the air vents, it was so strong and so much oil! I popped the hood and oil was spraying everywhere. It was terrifying. The Subaru Service Tech that serviced my car didn't even bother to put my oil cap on. They weren't under time constraints, they could have kept my car over night if they needed too, so a rush job was not warranted, nor should a rush job ever be warranted. The front desk didn't offer any solution or remedy for us being loyal long term customers. They made derogatory statements to me and my husband about maybe it is my fault for how I drive, for example they accused me of over driving my own vehicle. I bought my Subaru from Modesto Subaru in 2014 and just hit 120,000 miles. It was a horrible experience. Won't be back for service or for shopping for a new car. read more

This rating pertains to the salesperson only: Jesse Hernandez. I had called the financing department and left a message on Monday and Wednesday then finally got a message on my voicemail on Friday. I retuned the call but didn't receive a call back until the next day and I was already in a vehicle going for a test drive. I hope my salesman didn't have to split his commission with any of the people who I left messages for...I literally didn't even meet "Josh" he didn't bother to come and introduce himself. On the other hand, had anyone other than my salesman, Jesse Hernandez, tried to "sell" me a car...it probably wouldn't have happened. I was ready to compare the Forester and the Rav-4 that day but Jesse was incredibly patient, empathetic, understanding and down-to-Earth. It never once felt like he was trying to sell me a car. I think the most important things I need to feel from the person who is trying to sell me something is authenticity and professionalism and Jesse exceeded my expectations with the most top-notch service I've ever received. I love my vehicle and I loved my experience with Jesse. If you want to go to Modesto Subaru, ask for Jesse Hernandez...you will NOT be disappointed!! Also, I didn't get the name of the finance manager guy but he wasn't my favorite. Lacked warmth and was a bit aggressive...I don't remember his name though...anyway, Jesse will make it all better even if everything else is sub-par! read more
