I visited Modish for brunch on a Sunday and I hate to say it, but I won't be back. Some pros: Parking is free since it's located in a shared plaza, the decor is nice, the fried chicken tastes delicious, and our bartender was very nice. However, the cons out way the pros. Here are some that my friends and I agreed upon: I sent an inquiry for a reservation and never got a response, came in with no reservation to a waitress telling me they were booked. She sat us at the bar and we were there 2 hours with only 2 tables that got filled. Our drinks were warm, the waffle that comes with the chicken and waffle had no taste whatsoever, 2 bites and I couldn't eat anymore. My friend ordered the same and she agreed. The bar chairs aren't the height of the counter so you're reaching up to eat your food, and the girl who sat us didn't really seem to have a care that we wanted to sit at unfilled tables as she sat at another table with a blanket wrapped around her. Ok so first I made reservations and I basically had to walk up on one of the waitresses to ask like what do we do. Be prepared to be assaulted with hookah smoke when you walk in. Second their entrees do not come with sides they are additional. So you basically can get a stuffed chicken for $16 bucks but you not getting any side with that. Second the drinks are the same price as the entree. They add 20% gratuity to your bill automatically. Then they switched servers mid meal. Lastly, tell me why they don't have regular straws. They only have coffee stirrer straws. Imagine drinking water out of a coffee stirrer and you thirsty. You better have some good jaws, on top of that they don't give you any ice in your water. Found this restaurant on Tik Tok and had to try it! We made reservations on their website which was fairly easy to do. I did receive a confirmation call 30 mins prior to my reservation time which I liked. It's located in a shopping plaza and it kind of "hidden" but I asked whoever called me in reference to the reservation and they were able to assist me with finding it! We were the first group there and we're greeted upon arrival! We were advised we could sit anywhere which was nice. Collectively we ordered drinks and food, as well as hookah. They do have a happy hour menu which lasted from 2-4. As time went by, it did get a little more busy and it was I lay one server and someone working the bar. It did take a tad bit longer to get our orders but my guest and I were very understanding that it was on two of them. They worked together well to serve everyone which I liked. The chicken and shrimp pasta was amazing. The salmon burger was a little too blackened but it was overall good. We also had some amazing calamari which we all loved. I see why this place is empty on a Saturday night. Service was too saucy and lacking in so many ways. There has been no more than 3 tables besides us this whole time and when I tell you all the server was doing was worried about herself and smoking her hookah. My hookah came out wrong and after about 4 puffs I let them know it wasn't what I ordered, which was an orange mint with peach. The whole thing tasted like peach and there was no mint. I got shunned a bit for wanting them to do it right. I stated I'm here to enjoy myself and not just take whatever is given, as I'm sure yall price them high enough where a small head of sheesha isn't as big of a deal as an unhappy customer. Ok so bad service check. The calamari was fried correct but I had to ask for salt and it definitely needed lemon. The sauce that came with it was a hard pass. Extremely sweet and uh no thanks. The the Parmesan crusted salmon came out. It was more like Parmesan patted on top of the salmon after it was done. Was it bad, no, but was it what the menu claimed. No. So I didn't say anything because it didn't matter anymore at this point after a few failed expectations, I wasn't surprised. So I went to the webpage and read about the dress code and all the amazing cocktails and seemed like it would be a nice place since it's called a bistro. When I got there, the gentleman in front of me was being padded down for weapons. When they opened the door smoke was billowing out because it's actually a hookah bar. We sat at the bar because reservations were required to have a table but the option to make reservations isn't online. I order the marble glass. Amazing drink, that comes with a little bubble on top. I had two @ $15 each. Hookah was $40. I ordered the fried lobster and grits and OMG, it was so good! The food is what will definitely bring me back. The lobster was $25. So all of that with the 20% gratuity my check was $96. The hookah was split between my friend and I. I don't feel the service was worth the automatic gratuity because we had to constantly flag down the bar tender. Our food took almost an hour. A server randomly came and wanted my martini glass because they were out of martini glasses. Initially the bartender didn't give me the little bubble on my drink. I had to ask and I'm sure the drinks are priced based on the experience. Oh! And they were out of lamb. It was just a lot of little things that was out of place. But overall not a bad experience. The location was unexpected. There is no moniker above the door so it's difficult to locate if you've never been. "Mod*ish" is on the door in small letters, that aren't very visible because the door is black and the letters are dark. We came for a friends bday dinner and unfortunately left very disappointed. First, we ordered a bottle of champagne for the table, but the bottle came out completely warm, not chilled whatsoever. When we asked for a chilled bottle, they said the didn't have one because they ran out during brunch. Finally they were able to get a cold bottle from the club next door. The food was ok. We ordered a few salads for the table and they seemed like they were pre made salads from the store - not fresh at all. I ordered a glass of white wine, which was brought to me, also room temp, in a champagne flute. It seems a little crazy to charge $13 for a glass of warm wine when you don't even know what type of glassware it should be served in. The DJ was great. I visited Modish on a Friday afternoon around 4pm. Aside from myself and my fiancé, there were only a handful of other customers in the restaurant so we got to choose where we sat. The outside of the establishment could use some work, but the inside is super cute and def IG worthy. Our server was nice and sweet. I think the food could have come out a little sooner given the place was near empty, but not a huge deal. I had the harvest salad with shrimp (so good, but also 6 standard shrimp for $6 dollars) and my fiancé had the salmon burger. I like that the salmon burger is actually a piece of salmon instead of ground salmon. That said, it was a little sloppy to eat (the dressing was watery) and the fries could have been seasoned more. I'll also say that the food, as others have mentioned, is overpriced. Perhaps it's inflation? We had two entrees and 1 cocktail and left with a $70 bill (inclusive of the tip). She then proceeded to walk about the restaurant for about 20 minutes. She finally came up to us and asked if we wanted to order. She wasnt friendly or inviting. Came to Modish due to a TikTok video. The service and vibes were amazing! I had Josh as a server and could not have asked for a better experience service wise. I had the lady in red as a cocktail and it too was amazing. For my entree I choose the stuffed chicken added on the Mac n cheese and Brussel sprouts. The chicken was flavorful but slightly dry the Brussel sprouts were cooked well but lacked flavor and the Mac and cheese though cheesy resembled box Mac n cheese. I recommend trying them out as the service,cocktails, and vibes are enough to satisfy you.
