Modita might just be my new fave! I have been meaning to visit Modita for quite a while and I'm happy to say that they were worth the wait! The experience begins from the moment you enter the restaurant. The modern rustic decor is warm, welcoming, and appealing. From the host to the wait staff, the Modita team is friendly and welcoming, doing what they can to ensure a quality experience for you and your dining party. I love that there is a variety of seating spaces available, from private nooks to larger, more open spaces - one of the benefits of re-purposing an historic building. The food was an absolute treat. It's definitely some of the best Asian fusion cuisine I've had. Drom starters to entrees, my palate was pleased. The signature drinks were also a complete delight. I love the Cunningham group restaurants, some of my favorites are Provisions, Rize, and Bru Burger. Modita seemed like a slam dunk since I'm a big Asia foodie fan and this is their take on Asian Fusion. The ambiance is great and located in the supercool Bottleworks Hotel. We started with the Soup Dumplings which were a bit gummy and had very little soup (key ingredient), 4 pieces for $12 is a but overpriced in my mind and not in line with Michelin Dim sum restaurants in NYC. We also tried the Bao Bun that was very good, a huge portion of perfectly cooked pork belly was in each bao. The Wasabi tuna roll was an interesting take with Wasabi greens and Wasabi peas and fish roe on the roll. We had 2 noodle dishes that were not on par with what you want from great Asian noodles. The umami noodle had very little pork belly and was not flavorful. The tamarind noodles looked great, a pad Thai version but again not very flavorful. We also waited 15min for the server to bring my wife's wine-not sure what the holdup was. I will continue to visit other Cunningham restaurants but probably not this one. read more

I ordered the veggie gyoza appetizer. It comes with three dumplings topped with sprouts and it was sitting in a chili sauce. The gyoza itself was tasty but flimsy and almost too squishy. It doesn't seem like a shareable appetizer. I also ordered the Maelstrom cocktail. Most of the other cocktails didn't seem like they would be very sweet or fruity but this one wasn't either. Came here to celebrate better half's born day. Nice cozy place. Short description: a place with flavorful food. Long description: Started with 2 starters. Korean corn dogs. This was enjoyable, especially with the cheese inside. Could have been better with the hotdog size though. Then chicken satay, which is very well flavored. The sauce also adds colors to your taste buds. This was my fave. Followed up with their famous Bao buns and shrimp shumai. You really can't go wrong with these 2 in terms of seasoning and flavor. Not to mention very filling. Then the main courses. I got the shirt rib. The meat was very tender, marbled, juicy, and very well marinated. It's all meat btw. And wife had the tangerine chicken, the serving is humongous. It was also flavorful. Ended the night with a free desert (cotton souffle cheesecake) for the celebrant. If you haven't tried Modita, stop what you are doing and book a reservation NOW! I've been wanting to try this spot for months and finally a birthday outing brought me there. The ambience is very cool and the crowd of the restaurant is a good indicator of the greatness of the food. I was pleased with the amount of gluten free offerings but opted for the crab sushi and the sirloin. So much food and so good. The drinks also taste as good as they look! We were there for a birthday and a bit of a rowdy bunch, but servers took everything in good spirit and the restaurant allowed us to bring our own cake (which doesn't always happen). I WILL be back to try more and canNOT wait! read more

Let me start off by saying how much I love that this addition to Mass Ave (and Bottleworks) is walking distance from our home. Second, it's hard to go wrong with a Cunningham Restaurant - they kill it in the customer service department (along with design, menus, etc.). The thing that I loved most about Modita is that despite being an Asian-centric menu, they offered up several vegan and vegetarian options clearly noted on the menu which is key for someone with a severe fish/shellfish allergy. It certainly makes the experience 10 times more relaxing. I'm pretty sure we ordered everything on the menu but a few standouts included my mocktail version of the Suburban Birdcage (ya know, because I wanted to pretend I was on an island vacation), the sweet and sour beets on the appetizer menu (vegan), and heirloom tomato salad (vegan). I wasn't able to try it but my dinner companions loved the bao buns with grilled pork, miso aioli and Asian slaw. The mapo tofu I had was quite tasty and I appreciated how they shaped the rice nuggets into cubes similar to the tofu. Our server was very helpful and hospitable and the space was beautifully decorated with low mood lighting and a gorgeous tile selections throughout. Holy moly! We had such a stellar meal here. They have a great looking cocktail menu. I went with the Suburban Birdcage- very tropical and suuuper good. For appetizers, we had the Spicy Tuna TarTare sushi and Bao Buns. The Bao Buns were out of this world and the sushi was also delicious. I had the Umami Noodles and really enjoyed the salty pork and edamame. My husband had the Tamarind Noodles and liked it but thought the sauce was a little too sweet. We finished with the Black Sesame Ice Cream that came with chocolate ganache. It was very unique. It tasted a lot like mint ice cream and the ganache was rich. The perfect ending to our meal. I'd been wanting to try Modita for weeks and was so excited to finally eat there! Maybe I built it up too much in my mind, but I think it's overhyped. And I really hate writing that. We started off with the soup dumplings- they get four stars! Salty, savory and absolutely delicious. I don't know how they compare to other soup dumplings but I will get these again. My main meal was the tikka masala, which is really what brings this rating down. It was okay. Nothing great and really lacked spice and that yummy cilantro goodness you usually get with this dish. Dessert was good and we actually tried two things! My friend did not like the marshmallow pudding at all, so the nice manager brought up a Yuzu Bar and that was a real winner. I thought the sesame caramel sauce was great on the marshmallow pudding, but she did not agree with me. However that lemon, berry and basil combo on the Yuzu blew the pudding out of the water. So my recommendation: go for the soup dumplings and desserts but eat a main meal somewhere else. read more

I really wanted to like this place, but this place is highly disappointing. Normally Cunningham restaurants take classic meals and puts a unique twist on it. They did the same with Modita - taking classic Asian food styles and trying to put a twist on it. The problem, of course, is that most Asian food is quite flavorful on its own and the twists were not tasty . Tried the crab rangoons - which looked very nice - but tasted just alright. As if several different flavor profiles were mashed together and so there wasn't one clear, enjoyable flavor. Also had the Tikka Masala dish - for an Indian dish spin-off, this "curry" had no spice, salt, and barely any flavor at all. Also, it's a little annoying that the restaurant opens at 4pm even on weekends in a busy area around Bottleworks. Overall, the restaurant is decorated well and the food isn't /terrible/. Service was great. But if you want to have nice Asian food, probably just go to an Asian restaurant. read more

The only disappointment was the lamb tandoori, which tasted burned and overdone. I didn't finish it. Ube ice cream with a toffee crumble was delicious as the meal ended. Another Cunningham hit! Modita was on my hit list and WOW! I wish I hadn't had waited and gone sooner! The food is Asian inspired which I absolutely loved. The vibe is trendy which is a good addition to the bottleworks space. And the service was amazing! You totally need to check this place out and go with a group because you'll want to try everything on the menu and each dish is perfect to share. Got a chance to visit Modita yesterday which is another beautiful addition to the bottle work area. That place has became a major vibe with everything that's opened up lately. The ambiance was great, service was wonderful, and boy do they gotta a dope bar with some good drinks. However, more importantly let's get on to the food since I've wasted enough of your time : Pork bao buns: I think my table gave the consensus that this was definitely our favorite app. Soft bao, well cooked pork, and a nice bed of Cole slaw = absolutely beautiful Main lobster Rangoon: I mean what can I say? It was crispy. The lobster had a nice flavor to it and overall it tasted quite nice. I also enjoyed the sauce it came with Kimchi fried rice: the rice was good. The duck egg was the perfect consistency for me. I enjoyed it, but the next entree was the star of the show for me Drunken noods: my friends and I think this could possibly be our favorite drunken noods in the city. They were so flavorful. Each bite really smacked you in the face. If you want a kick you can ask for some chili! Insanity lo mein: do you like spicy? Order this. Our mouths were on fire, but it burned so good. I especially liked it because the spice didn't overpower the whole dish Overall: I really enjoyed my experience! The entrees are affordable, but the dim sum is a touch expensive imo (some were more than entrees) which is a shame because they're delicious. Our server Jo answered any question we had with specifics, made honest recommendations, and was attentive without being overbearing. Every plate we received was SO DELICIOUS!! We ordered Samosas as appetizers, entree Chicken Yakisoba Noodles, Brussel Sprouts, Salmon with Coconut Milk/Thai Basil Oil Sauce, and for dessert the Yozu Bar. We dined in at CRG's newest restaurant, Modita, a few weeks after it opened its doors in some space adjacent to the recently developed Bottleworks Hotel. The space is beautiful on the inside with an awesome looking bar and intimate lighting. We had a pretty good experience as CRG continues to kill it with their establishments in Indy. Before dinner, my girlfriend and I each had a couple cocktails. I had the Warrior Sunrise which is on the sweeter side. We split Bao Buns and a sushi roll for an appetizer, both of which were great decisions. The Bao Buns had delicious, tender pork belly in between soft steamed buns. The main lobster roll was also delicious and I think we got our money's worth with ten large pieces (relative to the $17 cost). For dinner, I had the Bison Short Rib Bulgogi, which was incredibly tender and flavorful. The grilled bok choy I had on the side was the only food item that missed on the evening; it was not super flavorful and I wouldn't order it again. The only thing I thought was a little weird was the lack of acknowledgment for the reason we were dining in - my girlfriend's birthday. I put it on the OpenTable reservation notes that we were celebrating her birthday that evening, and I also made a point to announce it to the server at the beginning of our meal. He didn't respond with anything (not even a "oh, happy birthday!"), and it was not mentioned the rest of the evening. It could just be him - he was definitely not very friendly in general - but I thought it was weird and was at least hoping for a dessert to come out with a candle. Not this time I suppose, it's not the end of the world. I will be back very soon at Modita to try some other unique menu options. I hope we have a more friendly server next time around, and I'll probably consider other restaurants for fun celebrations, saving this one for a regular evening out. read more

A lot of people have raved about this place so I was excited to come check it out. The restaurant is located right in the Bottleworks district by Garage Food Hall. They serve Asian-fusion/inspired food. To be honest, I thought the food was fine. I have had better Asian food and prefer a more authentic place. I would say to come here only for the vibes. We got Shrimp Shumai, Soup Dumplings, Eggrolls, and Chicken Satay. I personally didn't think the Shrimp Shumai was very good. The Soup Dumplings had no soup in them... it tasted more like a dumpling. The Chicken Satay were pretty good. I got the Yakisoba noodles and added shrimp. It came with 3 pieces of shrimp. The noodles were extremely long. Again, nothing special. Overall I probably wouldn't come back. I know I can get better Asian food somewhere else. read more

Came here after not knowing what to eat for the evening and was pleasantly surprised. The minute we walked in we couldn't help but take in the dim lit cozy vibes. We were quickly seated and served menus. We ordered the veggie gyozas and it was absolutely delicious with the crisp chili oil. However, the star of the night were the tamarind noodles. Delicious food and good service. We ordered the tempura shrimp maki sushi and the chicken yakisoba noodles to share. The sushi was very good and I was surprised that the shrimp was on top rather than inside the roll, but it was still pleasant. The yakisoba was also very yummy and my father ordered the shrimp tamarind noodles which he said he preferred because of the sweetness. Modita is an Asian-fusion restaurant in the Bottleworks District that opened in March 2021 and has been one of the popular destinations for the crowd. Reservation is easy through OpenTable. Weekends are a bit busy and they open in the evening only so plan accordingly. Upon check-in, we were greeted by a hostess who quickly showed us to our table. The ambience is great and it's not loud so it is an ideal spot for date night or to meet a friend. What impressed me: Every dish we ordered was flavorful without being too salty. Drink menu is exquisitely designed and all drinks are creative without being too strong or bitter. What did not please: We got our appetizers within few minutes of ordering while we were still waiting on water and plates. We ultimately had to ask for plates. Since they serve entrées in bowls, it will be nice to provide a plate along with it when someone orders shrimp dish. Overall, the menu and ambience is good. They are a part of the Cunningham Restaurant Group so I am hopeful that they can fix some of these issues soon. read more

Contemplated those or the buns. Went with the samosas and they were incredible. The menu featured a number of dishes that I would have enjoyed. Opted for the tamarind shrimp. The shrimp were decently sized. The portions were good for one person. My husband got the tikki masala and it was flavorful. We left room for dessert. Get the Coca Cola Chocolate Cake. My friend and I came across this place while walking down Mass Ave. Modita is located right off Mass Ave across from The Garage. When we arrived, we were prepared to wait as we seen the restaurant was full. We didn't have a reservation of course but host let us know he would have a table ready in just a few minutes. We were really happy about that! It is stunning inside! This is definitely a great place for a date night or girls' night. It was dimly lit, and the dark color scheme is perfect. When we were seated, we took a minute to look over the menu. I ordered the miso soup, miso salad, chicken with peanut sauce, and a side of fried rice. I also ordered a cocktail, but I did not write down the name of it. It was so good! Everything that I ordered was phenomenal. I thought the portion size was great for the price. The waitress was attentive and made sure to check on us frequently. For dessert the waitress convinced us to order the coca cola chocolate cake as it is very popular. I was skeptical at first, but I was happy with the choice. I could barely taste the coca cola! I am not big on the flavor cherry, but I liked it with the cake. My very favorite were the bao buns. They were truly one of the best things I've ever eaten! An absolute flavor explosion! You have to try them if pork belly is your thing. The soup dumplings were my second favorite. Every part of them were seasoned to perfection! The short rib gyoza came in third place and then the lobster Rangoon were my least favorite. Of course, right before arriving, I had anxiety about what to order because if my stomach could bear it and it wouldn't have cost me hundreds of dollars, I would've ordered everything on the menu. We started with the soft shell crab tempura which the table proceeded to eat every little bit of, even the last peanut crumb and drizzle of sauce. We also ordered Bao Buns and Soup Dumplings which did not disappoint and only left us wanting more. Fatty, crispy pork belly in the buns and garlicky broth oozing out of the dumplings - this is my jam! My entree was the Kimchi Fried Rice and a side of the mushrooms which to no surprise, was amazing. The rice was perfectly cooked with a great hint of spice from the kimchi and the soft-boiled egg just mixed everything together. As of lover of shiitake mushrooms, I couldn't get enough.
