The outdoor space is amazing with gorgeous views, and the vibes are fantastic. Our server was super nice as well. Food is mediocre at best. Was excited to try the pignoli, but unfortunately it did not deliver. Just a mix of random flavors all in one dish that didn't really taste good. Prices are reasonable, but I wish food tasted more authentic. Might be back for a drink and views

At first glance, a warm and cozy restaurant with an inviting ambiance. Lots of tables with great conversations and staff smiling and setting the tone for an amazing evening. Marinated mushrooms as a light palate opener with bread served immediately is a great touch. Shrimp Scampi needs re-work. Pignoli pasta was zesty with chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, pesto, and pine nuts. Tiramisu was a success! A lovely evening with an amazing sunset and a full moon. Win-Win!

Wow! If there's such a thing as a perfect meal my mom, wife and I had it here. We started off with cocktails. My wife and I split a Wall Oh-F (an Old-fashioned) and my mom had a Lavender Limondrop. Both cocktails were outstanding and generous. For an appetizer, we split a burrata with sliced tomatoes, arugula, red onions, and balsamic glaze. All the ingredients were first-rate, fresh and the burrata was creamy and rich. For the entrees, my mom ordered the Cartoccio, spaghetti pasta, large wild shrimp, mussels, clams, calamari, in a tomato broth. The ingredients were as fresh as can be and meshed together perfectly. It was also a really large portion. My wife ordered the orto, arborio rice simmered with lemon, carrots, zucchini, celery and asparagus. It was an amazing risotto dish with great ingredients and a perfect mixing of flavors. Also a big portion. I ordered the capellaci, "little hats", folded pasta sheets with ricotta and spinach and baked in a tomato cream sauce. Delicious! And a great size portion too. For dessert, we got tiramisu and cheesecake. Both were excellent. Our waitress was phenomenal: friendly, helpful, high energy. The restaurant decor was stylish and sedate in use of color and paintings. The ambiance was buzzy and electric: the way you would expect a great restaurant to make diners enthusiastic about their meals. Every table was full. Not a surprise given how great this restaurant is.

Cozy lighting and seating. Great food & dessert. Nice staff. That mushroom served with bread was something new to me which I like very much.

Modoooo mutha effinnn mioooo. Haven't been in a couple months so naturally I've been jones'in for some rustic Italian. But don't worry, I've been here a ton at least a bakers dozen times. Food is delectable and location is crystal cove so you can't really beat that. Used to go with Kobe back in the day to practice my Italian. RIP mamba. This place is essentially a 4 or 4.5 overall but what puts them over the edge is that Jake Pappas used to work there and added a certain degree of credibility and rizz to the establishment that has since persisted. cibo eccellente! entrami nella pancia!!!

The food is very good! Make sure you make reservation or you will not be able to get in and get a table. The place is very small and the outside tables are first come first serve.

I really enjoyed my experience at this restaurant! Would definitely come back. This restaurant is located in a small shopping center (other stores include Banana Republic, Williams Sonoma, and Fetneh Blake Concept, as well as many other eateries). It is within walking distance of Crystal Cove State Park. There is a pretty big parking lot but parking can be tough to find in the evening. My party of two arrived around 6:30 PM on a Saturday and we were immediately seated. You can also make a reservation if you want to be safe. The ambiance is fancy but not too fancy, which I thought was perfect. Service was good. Our waiter was friendly and attentive and provided great recommendations. Food was served very quickly. We were started off with complimentary bread and mushrooms. Before we were able to finish that, our dishes started to come out. For an appetizer, we got an apple and candied walnut salad (I don't know the name because it was recommended by our waiter). The kitchen was able to serve the salad on two plates so that my friend and I could share the salad. The kitchen was very, very generous with the candied walnuts. Perhaps a little too generous as the walnuts made up almost half of the salad, but I appreciate that they didn't skimp on it. The capellini checa, which was also recommended by our waiter, was sooo good and well-flavored. I highly recommend it! We added shrimp for $9 and were given six good-sized shrimps. Portion size was goods I ended up bringing home about a third of my plate. In short, I would definitely come back here.

Thought this would be a cute little place to get some good Italian food. The food was just ok...but definitely not worth the price. The steak was not cooked as we requested and they did not have any accompaniments to enhance the steak either. Ordered 2 steaks with different temperatures but the server didn't know which was which. Also, we had to ask the serv for everything at least 2 times. I hate going to dinner and having to chase my server for basics like water. I would pass on this place unless you like being ignored.

Do they serve lunch? What hours are lunch available if open?

They were planning to reopen for lunch in '25 but that didn't happen; I believe they're open only for dinner, from 5PM. They have their hours posted on their website, at the bottom, so check it for any changes.

We told him that even though we are doing family style, we wanted the meal coursed so we can take our time to enjoy each dish while the food stayed freshly prepared. He made sure to take our order in courses to ensure that happened. We ordered two salads, three appetizers, two pastas, one pizza, and tomohawk steak with roasted potatoes, and multiple desserts. We enjoyed everything we tried. Of course we also loved their house focaccia bread with olive oil and vinaigrette. Our go to item here is the Tarfufo Nero (prosciutto truffle pizza). We've ordered it every time we've visited. Only one time left me a little disappointed because it was burnt on bottom and cold. But this time, it was amazing. The tomahawk was surprisingly well seasoned and cooked, and the potatoes that came with it were made to perfection. The desserts were not too sweet and had a balance of flavors that made each item unique. My favorite was the panna cotta. My friend who said she generally doesn't like panna cotta loved this one!

One of the girls swears by this cute italian spot so we all just had to check it out! The Break Down: Location/Parking: - This restaurant has many locations, but we went to the one in Newport Beach specifically. Parking can be a little on the tricky side so best to get there earlier. They do have a small little parking lot on the side and you'd just have to walk to the restaurant, which isn't even a walk tbh. Alongside that there is a paid parking lot as well, but is free after 6pm. I was lucky since our get together started at 5:30pm. I just waited it out for a bit lol. Also if you are wondering, you make a payment through the app if you were to park in that paid lot. Atmosphere: - Give a rustic Italian homey vibe, with that touch of character. All around the restaurant you see frames of posters, pictures of places and people which I loved. The Food: Appetizers Bread + Oil/Vinegar (COMPLEMENTARY) - Who doesn't love free bread lol I know I love it, A++ for me. The bread is just a regular bread of course with butter on the side and self-serve of the oil & vinegar. I love it when restaurants have snackies as you wait :) Bruschetta ($12.95) 3/5 stars - For me I think it was more so that the tomatoes were larger than what I was used to. Usually bigger is better, yes, but I was looking for smaller chucks and more flavor profile as well. To me it was on the blander side, but to everyone else it was a hit. I think i amm a heavy salt person too. Twas still a good starter. Calamari Fritti ($15.95) 5/5 stars - UGH BOMB! I loved this so much. Then again I love seafood! The batter was not overwhelming at all twas light but still had that flavor that I love! It was cooked perfectly and not chewy at all. The sauce matched perfectly. You cant go wrong with calamari or well i have never been wrong lol. Main Entree Lemon Cream Sauce & Shrimp ($22.95) 3/5 stars - So i didn't go with my gut and I ordered something totally different from what I was used to. It's okay though because I want to try new things. This pasta was okay, I think when I was ordering this I wanted something creamy. Beforehand I was sold on choosing between lasagna or sausage pasta with ricotta, I'm more of that girl, but then again at least now i know lol. Next time I'm back I will definitely try the highly recommended Chicken parm! Drinks I love that this place was a BYOB type of restaurant and they DONT CHARGE A CORK FEE! So of course the sweetest coworker of mine (who also recommended this restaurant and the chicken parm that i didn't order), brought endless wines of all types lol. Service: - The staff was very nice! They were so patient with us and I knew we were louder than everyone else, but hey it's the holidays we are happy to be in each other's company! Again Thank you Romano Cucina!!

There is limited parking at the front of the restaurant so i would recommend carpooling here if possible. Immediately upon entering we were greeted by the very humble, sweet, and charismatic owner, Donatella. She was the sweetest and we felt right at home upon entering. She allowed us to pick our seats since there was various opened seats and brought us our water, appetizer plates, and utensils. Just for a bit of context she did stated they had moved to this location because there were properties being bought for construction at the original area they were at. She originated from Sicily, Italy so we were excited to know this is legit Italian food. We ordered ourselves the Calamari Luciana, Focaccia bread, and Facci ri Veccia for starters. For our main course, we got the Ravioletti alla Bolognese, Linguine alla Pescatora, and Lasagna. For our drinks we got their famous Pistachio Dream Cream Martini and a Mocktail of the Moment (which changes eat time you order). Calamari Luciana - 4.5/5 it was to die for! The calamari itself was not too chewy. It was sauteed calamari; the tomato sauce it was drenched and is perfectly homemade in house by their chef in its olive oil, garlic, basil, oregano, and white wine. It was fine on its own, but I would highly recommend dipping the focaccia bread to complement with it. Focaccia brea - 5/5 perfectly moist, soft and was just a bit of addiction. Very good shareable amount, but I would warn you that it is dangerously delicious. Facci ri Veccia 5/5 Pizza with imported crecenza cheese, parma prosciutto, truffle oil and is made in their stone oven back in the kitchen. The crust was perfectly crispy to perfection because their dough is 80% dried out before putting it in the oven. The game changer was that amazing imported cheese. It's not too heavy and was easy on the stomach (mind you I am lactose intolerant). The truffle oil just brought that lightness to each bite and a little subtle umami flavor. Ravioletti alla Bolognese - 4/5 their ravioli braised wagyu beef and veal drenched in bolognese meat sauce and a touch of cream. I can see the love in this dish but it's not really for me. I do believe it's a bit more on the dry side even with the meat sauce and it could be due to the type of protein, but someone that is adventurous with their food and meat may come to love this dish. Linguine alla Pescatora - 5/5 This was my kind of dish!!! Perfect sauce with their white wine and white sauce immersion into the linguine dish. It comes with assorted fish, shrimp, scallops, mussels, and clams. I'm a huge seafood lover and can be very particular with their freshness and quality. This definitely hit all the bullet points. It was perfectly creamy and salty. Lasagna - 5/5 We couldn't finish this because at this point we were so full and realized we over ordered, but I did take a bite and it was just to die for! I ended up bringing it home for my partner to try and he loved it! It is the same protein (Wagyu veal & beef ragu) layered with the pasta sheets, ricotta, mozzarella, bachamel, and parmigiano cheese. In other words, all the cheese you can think of put into one dish. Pistachio Dream Cream Martini - 5/5 Extremely strong, creamy, and just delicious. My cousin devoured the drink. Overall, we had such a great experience and fun time there along with the owner. I definitely want to come back and they do have a small intimate room you can RSVP for private parties.
