Our party of five ordered diverse items, ranging from pulled pork to chicken to a grilled cheese sandwich, which were all consistently good. Beans were sauce-flavored and were not (at all) runny as at other BBQ joints. Cole slaw was not creamy-style, but sweet, vinegary and very good. I checked out this Moe's location last evening and went with the Angus Brisket platter, which was great. Really good flavor, without an overwhelming smoky bbq hang to it. The bbq beans were also really good. I'd had a few beers under the belt, but no matter - the cornbread could've really used some work. It looked appetizing, but had absolutely no flavor except air. Also, the banana pudding seemed to taste more like vanilla pudding, but at least it had the traditional vanilla wafer inside. I'd go back in a heartbeat. Just skip the airbread! read more

Moes has some good and some bad. I really enjoyed the brisket but the pork ribs were way overcooked and dry. Not sure if I had a bad pork day or not but I have tried them twice and both trips were not good. So overall the good was average but with a little work it seems like it could be so much better. Not really feeling Moe's anymore. The second to last time I called to order takeout I was told they were out of chicken and turkey at the middle of dinner time. Hrrm. Yesterday my coworkers and I decided to order a large takeout order. None of my coworkers had a problem with their food, but I felt the portions were quite skimpy and the quality of the smoked turkey was s'okay. The coconut cream pie I was sold turned out to be a grasshopper pie and by pie I mean medium size sauce cup of something that can only be described as pie by lack of any other descriptive term for what that gelatinous business was. tor $14.80 ($17 with a tip) I felt like I received at best $11 worth of food. I like the mac and cheese (though it can be inconsistent). Meat is usually tender. Ribs are pretty salty though I wouldn't get again. I recommend the pulled pork. I like how they have the option for unsweetened tea. But most of the sides (coleslaw, pie etc) tend to be SICKLY sweet. This is not a place for a diabetic. read more

Enjoyed my pulled-pork sandwich with mac and cheese and fried green tomatoes. The sauce on the pork was really zesty and flavorful, and the pork was moist. The mac and cheese was very rich and the tomatoes, with pickled onions and some buttermilk-type dressing, were a bit thin for my taste but the flavors were spot-on! I have been to Moe's many times in the past and had good food. After this trip I won't be back. Brisket was horrible and chewy. It was cut with the grain and needed about 3 more hours to cook. Sides were greasy. Corn bread stale. And Bama style sandwich had no sauce. I wasted $40. Incredibly disappointed. read more

This was my third visit to Moe's in my first month in Boulder and I have yet to be disappointed in the Q yet. I wanted to try something new, besides the pulled pork and brisket which I've had twice, so I inquired about the ribs. Chrys informed me that they are dry rubbed and I was cautious since I prefer St Louis and KC style wet ribs. So, she let me try one. Next thing you know I'm ordering a full rack. Half to eat there and half for lunch the next day. They are very tasty, so good that they don't need sauce. I forgot my leftovers there and didn't realize it until 2 hours later. I wanted them for lunch the following day that I drove back to pick them up. I'm still disappointed by the beers on tap. Dale's Pale Ale might be the most overrated local beer I've tried so far. read more

Walking in out of the snow and cold, Moe's was a wonderfully warm and cozy spot to hole up in for a quick and tasty lunch. The atmosphere was delightful and the music was perfect in terms of volume and energy. I almost felt like it could be summer outside if I'd closed my eyes. The counter service was very quick and friendly and when we sat down at our table the food came out within just a few minutes. And let me tell you, the food was exactly what I needed - comfort food on a cold day. I highly recommend trying whatever you get in 'Bama Style, which is more of a vinegary sauce. Really delicious. The pulled pork was fantastic and everything I look for in a good BBQ place. If you're a fan of atmosphere and BBQ this is one you can't afford to miss. read more

I was underwhelmed by this place in pretty much every way. I feel like it is pretty close to being a pretty special place, but it is just not there. I was intrigued by this place, for it is close to where I work and had a friend express interest in going, so off we went. When we first go there, we were met with a huge board of meets and side options, and another board with a bunch more sides. My friend went to order and after giving what he wanted, the counter girl informed him that they were out of well over half of the options, including the other sides that were handwritten on the other sign. He asked her why they were on the sign if there weren't available, and she said that they were going to be available at a later point and she didn't want to rewrite them. When it was my turn to order, I asked what they were out of, for I didn't hear her tell him, she sighed loudly, annoyed she had to say it again, and spouted forth. Finally we ordered, and got our food. Marginal at best, not bad, but not good either. Especially for the price, which is not cheap. This chain has really been focused on growth recently, but it seems like their quality is not holding up. Love this place. Great BBQ and atmosphere. Amazing baked beans. The banana pudding leaves a little to be desired...tastes kind of fake. Cornbread makes up for it! Beer selection is so-so. We ordered take out from Moe's on Saturday evening for an early dinner 5:30 pm ish to beat the crowd. When we got there they had given our order to someone else. We ordered again and waited for them to prepare the order again. When we got home, we realized we didnt have the full order- we were missing our sides beans, slaw and potato salad. Since we drove 25 mns to get there and waited another 20 for them to remake the order, we decided to cut our losses. Very disappointing. Save your money and time. read more

Usually we look forward to visiting Moe's Barbecue when we are in Boulder. This visit was very disappointing. The loud hard rock music was so obnoxious and loud you could barely talk to each other. It took away from the ambiance and ability to enjoy the food. We were forced eat outside in the heat as the music was so loud. The cashier needs to try the food items on the menu especially the sides options. When asking about the menu items he had no personal experience with the food. Moe's is not KTs. Moe's is not Georgia Boys. However, Moe's is pretty darn good. If you are stuck on the south side of Boulder, and can't wait long enough to drive to KTs; you can do worse than Moe's. Portions were generous, and my ribs were meaty. We did the sampler Brisket, Ribs, Pulled Pork , Hot Link. No sauce necessary moist & juicy very flavorful. They make this great red onion coleslaw w/ celery seeds. An diet no diet all bets are off ! When you taste the made from scratch Mac & Cheese. This truly is worth writing home about. I was instantly transported back in time. Not a fan of cornbread generally this was moist ,had small bits of jalapeno & real cheddar cheese. Then they take each slice warm it in an old cast iron skillet. Oh & the green bean casserole , fresh collard greens. To much to mention. Its seems a little pricey at first . Yet once you put it in your mouth . Short version: Overpriced mediocre food. Long version: I had the pulled pork, and it was pretty good for Boulder I suppose. Very dry though and I had to use about half a bottle of bbq sauce on it (the sauce was probably the best thing I had there). Everything else was pretty bad. All of the sides tasted like they had been sitting out for 2 or 3 days. The mac & cheese was dry and overcooked. The baked beans were trying to be classy I think because they were filled with celery and other veggie flavorings (gross, in my opinion). The corn bread was dry and dense and tasteless. Maybe I'm pickier because I grew up in the south? Anyway, I left feeling full, but it was a pretty forgettable experience. I will not be going back. read more

I've lived in Boulder for forty years and only recently dicovered Moe's Barbecue at Baseline and 30th online. Cravings for good barbecue sent me searching and since the menu items looked so visually appealing I decided to take a chance and ordered a lunch plate of pulled pork and french fries. The service was terrific and the barbecue pork sandwich to die for so it did not disappoint!!! The only reason I didn't give them a 5Star rating was because of the fries. They were quite salty so I actually wasn't able to eat them but the sandwich was huge and satisfying so in the end I was really pleased with my first Moe's experience and have every intention of returning. read more

Horrible. We were missing our extra side we paid for. Then we ate the food, which was terrible. The white sauce tasted like white vinegar, the beans were all salt, the macncheese was buttered noodles with burnt cheese, and the chicken way dry. We used to love this place. I won't ever eat there again, and don't need to with a bbq restaurant on ever courner around here. They used to be one of the best but tonight they were by far the worst bbq I've ever had. read more

We've had Moe's several times and ordered this past Mother's Day, it did not disappoint. The ribs were excellently smoked and with great flavor and still on the bone and meaty. The brisket was great as usual, melts like butter in your mouth. They forgot the bbq sauce and cornbread is usually too dry, but as I say we keep coming back :). Picked up the double wide option to go and it was fantastic! We have been to the Alabama locations and I really wanted some southern style BBQ and this definitely hit the spot. The only thing missing was a veggie side option, the sweet potato casserole was great but I definitely would have liked to have some okra/turnip greens/collard greens/lima beens or something green and cooked in a lot of bacon fat!
