We came for take-out today, Super Bowl Sunday, and we weren't disappointed. The beef brisket was tender and fell apart- the BBQ sauce was slightly spicy. The slaw was interesting in that it had green bell peppers and pickled (?) red onions, not much mayo which made it seem light. The corn bread was tasty but a bit burnt. Our favorite barbecue restaurant in Denver is currently closed so we decided we would try Moe's South Boulder. The pulled pork was not at all like barbecue pork but more akin to our homemade Instant Pot pork. There was no smoke flavor to it at all. Lesson learned. read more

I used to live next to Moe's BBQ in Denver on 5th st. Since my roommate worked there, I would go in pretty often for some wings or one of their many incredibly delicious meals or specials. On Super Bowl Sunday, my friends said they were going to start the day at the new Moe's BBQ in Boulder. I was so excited! It had been way too long. We sat at the bar and all enjoyed a Dales while waiting for our food. It was fun to see the guys preparing the food in the open kitchen. Moe's smokes all of their meat slowly over night. They make everything from scratch and have incredible recipes. Their potato salad is divine, but the wings, oh the wings are incredible. Smoked wings with white sauce can cure any problem in life. White sauce, by the way, is a mayo based BBQ sauce that is just amazing. The atmosphere is relaxed but fun and the staff at Moe's will always make you feel at home. The manager, Mike came over to say hi. We all took a shot together and voila, food was all out! Great service. Above and beyond. This is not a place to pass up!!! Simple Location right off freeway/parkway. Right next to CU and its dorms. Better Chain based in the South, so there is street cred. Gotta say my visit was coloured by the fact that the counterstaff were distractingly attractive- can't say that will work for all. But I approved. I had pulled pork and brisket- both were tasty if not awesome. This place seems solid, not great- but then the ribs were gone by the time I got there 8PM. But solid in CO is a good start, since their slaw and potato salad were good and fresh, and their cornbread solid AND toasted or fried I think for an extra yum factor. This place is good. I hope to find better- but I can keep this a regular spot- I hope the eye-candy alone makes it worthwhile. Not to say that Boulder doesn't have MORE than its share of hottie salespeople -of all sexes and persuasions as my friends tell me... Foodwise- I did take out- EXTRA 1$ - and ate well. But the lady who works there not sure what her name is, short, brown hair, anyways is the most rude employee/person I have ever spoken to. They have bbq sauce out to put in little 1 inch paper cups right, so I guess you are only aloud to use the bbq sauce and ketchup if you eat inside?? anyways I did not know that and me and my dad left the restaurant and this woman has the audacity to start screaming at us telling us she was gonna call the cops and flipping her shit for a 1inch paper cup of bbq sauce that I needed cause they forgot the sauce on my MF tofu. read more

I have been a huge fan of this place for a long time. But I have had it with going in to get something and they are out of it. And I know I am NOT the first one to say this, or stop going there over it. I am Not sure if they feel like it is a marketing technique or what, but you can't tell me that thousands of restaurants across the country can keep a stock of food until closing time but this place can't. Moe's has the best smoked turkey and wing's I've had - and a friendly staff that will go the extra mile. We had done a pre-order for a CU Tailgate party. The cook accidentally left part of the order out of our takeout bag. Moe's figured out the mistake , gave me a call, then hand-delivered (via motorcycle) the rest of our food to the tailgate site during an extremely busy day for them. This place is awesome! On Tuesdays they have a special for the $9 chicken platter. It is definitely worth the price, since it is a ton of food - essentially, half of a chicken, cornbread, and 2 sides. The meat is very tender and delicious. I usually have to take some home with me. My Colorado cousin took me and my son (both from Central Texas where Bar B Que is king) to this place. That may have been a risky move on his part! But the place was way better than I was expecting. I really can't give it s complete review as I only had a pulled pork sandwich. I was prompted from other yelpers to get it "Bama style" and it was very good, but did not knock the socks off this texan. Great food. So so service that I would put on the owner, not the staff. Hours say they're open until 11 pm. That is false. Went for a beer refill at 9:05 pm and they said no because they're closed. That's after assuming they were open and putting a large tip on the first transaction. Closed at 9:00 pm on a Friday. Cmon you can do better than that. At least inform your customers. read more

When the meal came with the sandwiches swimming in drippy cole slaw, I wondered what style of BBQ this was. Some of the posts here mentioned Alabama style, which I'm not familiar with. Not likely to go to Bama to try more, either. I had to toss the bread, since it fell apart from the watery slaw. The meat was okay, nothing special. Sauces okay. Sides were bland, bland, bland. Super awesome food! I tried Mo's the first time I ever came to Boulder and I've enjoyed it since. It isn't quite like Texas bbq but it isn't bad. Not so much a fan of their sweet tea (funky taste hence the 4 stars). If you want a good meal that isn't cheap then this is a great place to eat. They're fun, fast, and yummy. read more

Mike didn't just send out his truck, he was up at 3:30 in the morning preparing the meat so he could personally drive the truck and work his tail off alone all day while spectacularly mentoring our kids in customer relations, inventory assessment, and cash flow analysis. Growing up on the East Coast, I had easy access to true Southern bbq. I have to say this place is pretty good! So for we've had brisket, pulled pork and hot link, all were done excellently. Their cornbread is fantastic, it is real cornbread! The portions are huge, which stays true to southern bbq and the prices are completely reasonable! Amazing brisket and sauce, and I was ecstatic to find a fellow Louisianian behind the bar. The atmosphere is friendly and the reclaimed ski lift chairs used as benches remind you that you're in Colorado as the food screams "Southern" on your tastebuds. Wonderful from first bite of cornbread to last dollop of banana pudding. The ONLY change I would make is to the baked beans, and that is because I am not a big bell pepper fan. We ordered the family meal for $38.00, ordered a side of mac and cheese also. We paid $45 and left a $5.00 tip for Take out. we drove 20 mins. back to Lafayette. we unpacked the bags to find no mac and cheese, to the dismay of the 2 and 4 year old. so we called back and spoke with them. The phone call left a bad taste in our mouth... too bad that place used to be run a bit better. So normally we come here at least every other week. We love Moe's. Tonight was very disappointing though. We called in an order and they said 15 minutes. We get there after 10 minutes, and our food is already sitting out on the counter. No big deal because I thought that meant we would be in and out fast. We went up to the pickup counter to ask if it was ours, and one of the cooks said yes, that the cashier would ring us up in a second. We waited and the cashier turns to us and says "soooo would you like to get in line or? Let's just keep it simple."in a really rude tone. We then wait in line another 10 minutes, our food still sitting on the counter getting cold. No apology. Was anything but fast for take out. What's the point of having a takeout service if you're going to make people wait so long? We finally check out, and our food is ice cold. Unacceptable for a 40 dollar meal for 2. I'm really disappointed because, like I said, we love Moe's and we normally love going there, but tonight was just an awful experience. read more

Normally I love this restaurant. Their food is good. Their customer service is usually on point. And most of the time their pick up is easy and fast. But tonight was different. I called in to make a pick up order, they said 15 minutes. I get there in and my food is already sitting. At first I'm glad. This should be fast. WRONG. The cashier said "I'll help you guys in just a sec" then after a "sec" later he asked us to go to the back of a loooong line to pay for food that was sitting there getting cold. 10 minutes I'm through the line, get my food, and it's all cold. So I get home and I'm gonna heat it up and my girlfriend opens her food. They shoved the sauce in the to go box so hard it broke open and poured out all of the ribs, fries, and corn bread. And her banana pudding looked a day old. We called to complain and they said there was nothing they could, not even a partial refund for the ruined meal. Came in for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, not crowded at all. It was my first time here and I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich with coleslaw and cornbread. First off, the girl who took my order had a smile on her face, but that was just for show. When I asked her what the marinated coleslaw was, she replied " it's marinated coleslaw." Now never being here before, how the hell am I supposed to know what it is? If it was called oil and vinegar slaw, which is basically what it is, I would have not have asked. Maybe they use some kind if smoked flavor marinade, or maybe a stand out flavored marinade that would make it something different. I could have done without the attitude. Now, they run the food out to your table by shouting your name across the restaurant and await your " I'm here" reply. My food came in a timely manner, but it was a smoked tofu sandwich. When I told the runner I ordered the smoked turkey he looks at me...looked at the ticket and tells me the ticket says tofu, and proceeds to just stare at me. I tell him again..." that's not mine, I order the smoked turkey." Again he looks at the damn ticket and tells me again it says tofu. At this point I'm pissed. After another stare off he turns around and goes back to the kitchen. The sandwich was just decent, the coleslaw was dry, and the price was a little on the high side. So, foods nothing spectacular and the service is awful. The type of place where they make you feel like they are doing you a favor by selling food. Could have been a three...maybe four stars if it wasn't for the bad attitudes by both employees. read more

I've tried the pulled pork, turkey, and ribs. All were good, none exceptional. Sauces and sides are excellent. Tangy marinated cole slaw is a change from typical mayonaise-based. Fried green tomatoes and pan-fried corn bread are tasty. Platter portion was sufficient for the price. Sandwich portion a little on the small side for the price. It is strange that a drink comes with every sandwich/platter. Perhaps drop the price a buck or two and make the drink optional? Although, I do love the sweet tea. Looking forward to trying the wings and catfish. read more

I came here for an event where the sandwich platters were free. I had the pulled pork sandwich, green chile, and baked beans and all were good. There are better places for BBQ in the area, but this place isn't bad if you're in the area and have a BBQ craving. read more
