Always enjoy my visits here. Good steak for a TR, good value for food. Can take home peanuts packets. Employees are always friendly and check in on you an appropriate amount. Ambiance - fun people-watching.

Very burnt filet

The Great--Doni our server! He was fantastic! Very attentive. The BAD--filet ordered medium, it came out mooing. Sent back. 2nd time around--shoe leather. The manager who sent it back out "asked cooked better?" I guess? I mean it wasn't mooing anymore. ‍Absolutely unable to eat. For the love of baby Jesus'--why is it so hard to get temps right?? I came in after a long day at work, starving. Im disappointed because I spent 25.00 on my meal, but only got to eat the salad, potato, and bread. The rest of my party enjoyed their food. Maybe I should have gone to Wendy's? ‍I don't know if we will return.

They have an up charge for mac and cheese as a side and it was kraft mac and cheese (confirmed by the waiter).

food is good- not great. Service was outstanding. Ribs were charred; sides were o.k. Overall a reasonably good deal.

My family and I ate dinner at The Roost while visiting the area for a few days. Since we were…read moretraveling from out of state we made a reservation ahead of time - although on a Wednesday evening at 5pm, it wasn't super critical, as the restaurant never got completely full. There are multiple seating options - inside, patio, or rooftop. We opted for the rooftop and the vibes were excellent. The weather was gorgeous and the rooftop patio is nicely decorated with live plants and a big bar running the length of the patio. Our server was excellent. I think his name was Danny. One of our party has an alcohol intolerance, so needs to avoid foods cooked with alcohol. Danny was super helpful in guiding our menu options with this information. He confirmed multiple dishes with the chef before we ordered. For food, we started with the Truffle Parm Fries, Fried Brussels Sprouts, and the Bangin' Cauliflower. All were delicious. The cauliflower was extremely good, I can see why so many reviews mention it. For entrees, our group ordered the Short Rib Tacos, Jumbo Crab Cakes, Chilean Salmon, and the Avocado Salad with Seared Ahi. No complaints around the table. The meat in the Short Rib tacos is super tasty. Portions were good sized, however the Crab Cake dish is definitely smaller than the others. Good option if you aren't super hungry. The Chilean Salmon was cooked perfectly. We didn't really have any complaints at all. Solid dining experience. Would definitely return if I'm ever back in the Longmont area.

The main improvement The Roost could make would be letting the GM, J. Suniga return to Burger King,…read moreor whatever fast food franchise from which they hired him. The next improvement would be training employees that when a customer makes a request to pay the bill, the answer is "Yes, I will take care of that." Instead I received, a snippy "Notify your server." My response, "No, I'm the customer, you're employed here. I just agreed to pay a ridiculous sum for a cocktail and an appetizer, so YOU find whoever needs to receive my payment!" Her feelings were hurt, so she played the "You-don't-need-to-speak-to-me-that-way" card. Eventually she recovered from the trauma and found an Official Roost Bartender to give me the bill. Mr. Suniga explained that he did not pay her to receive payments. As a solution, her "manager" advised I avoid The Roost in the future. Apparently, customers who want to pay are not welcome? Good advice for me and any other prospective customers!

Unfortunately, this visit was completely different. The service was extremely disappointing from start to finish. We waited about 20 minutes just for drinks and eventually had to go up to the bar ourselves. When we asked about it, the bartender simply said, "I'm working on it," which was frustrating given how long we had already been waiting. There were 4 tales in the restaurant and like 8 employees Things did not improve from there. Our food came out very slowly and one of the meals had to be sent back. We ended up having to go to the bar multiple times, including for a to go box and even to get our check, because no one was checking on our table. To make matters worse, the menu states that guests are asked to limit their visit to 90 minutes. However, due to the slow and inattentive service, we were there for nearly two hours through no fault of our own. There also used to be a sense of customer service here, which seems to have changed. To top it off, gratuity was automatically added without it being mentioned or explained. That felt especially inappropriate considering we ended up doing a large portion of the service ourselves. It's like they figured they were getting auti gratuity so didn't provide any service Really disappointing experience overall. Not sure what changed, but this was a huge step down from our previous visit.

They took the time to share their story and passion for good food, which made the whole experience even better. They legit have whatever kind of meat you want and some you've never heard of. So many things went wrong with just trying to place an order - discounts that disappeared at…read morecheckout, exorbitant shipping costs, etc., but finally I was able to place an order where I spent so much money, that I got "free" shipping. At those prices, free shipping is a bit of an oxymoron. First, I cooked the rack of lamb. When I cut into it, to serve the chops, they were PERFECT. Just the way my family likes. Seared on the outside, red on the inside. I had a little "off" stomach that night, so I just had a bowl of soup, thus I never tasted them. I don't need to "fish" for compliments. I've been written up in a major newspaper as a "great home cook." I know I'm a good cook, but I am accustomed to at least someone saying "this is really good." If I flub a bit, I'll be the FIRST to say, "thanks, but it could be better," or similar. There was only silence around the table. Really? I finally asked, and the response was, "it's okay. There's nothing wrong, but there's really no flavor." Yikes. I'm the only one in the family who eats steak, so the next night, I cooked the PRIME ribeye. For my taste, no steak can match a prime ribeye, for flavor and for texture..A quick sear on both sides in a hot cast iron pan, and into a hot oven for 3 -4 minutes, and I know I'm in heaven. You needed a SAW to cut that meat, that's how tough it was. That steak was no more USDA prime than a Jack-in-the-Box burger. I had two bites, and threw it into the trash. That steak wasn't even choice. It was probably standard. Finally, I defrosted a 3-pound ribeye, so I could cut a thick steak - same process of sear and finish in the oven. Same result. No flavor, and tough. I threw in the towel on the rest of my order, and gave the lamb shanks to my neighbor. My experience tells me that PT Barnum was right. Lesson learned.

I came here with a group of 24 people FOR LUNCH and we were greeted warmly and each of us were treated like VIP's. Starting with the in-house made bread that was FRESH and crusty but soft inside. The bread was served with olive oil and was a a great way to kick off the meal. The menu has so many choices it's hard to choose what to try. I decided to start with the ZUPPA CAPRESE soup- $8 Roasted garlic, tomato and basil with melted mozzarella crostini. Mmm mmm good! EXCELLENT layering of fresh flavors. Next I got the lunch antipasti - appetizer with steak and fire roasted peppers and eggplant. The complexity of flavors was absolutely incredible. There was enough food to make a nice meal. I didn't need anything else! Alas, the linguine putanesca - Linguine, olives, capers, garlic, tomato basil sauce called my name and I could not say no. I added some grilled chicken for protein. The pasta was cooked to perfection. The sauce was so flavorful! My only complaints are that I probably had one or 2 olives total, once you add up the little pieces. Also, that chicken I added? $6 for 6 tiny little partial chicken strips. Overall, given the great flavor and excellent service, this is my new favorite Italian restaurant! Troy - thank you for making each of us feel welcome. Bravissimo, Caprese Trattoria! I'll be back!
