After hearing good things and being instagram influenced to come here we were beyond disappointed with our experience. The website makes the dining experience seem elevated and superb - the upsetting reality is this entire resort is completely outdated and utterly less than satisfactory. If you are looking for vibes this place is the opposite. Fluorescent lighting, no music, dull and lifeless. We even tried going outside to enjoy the view of the mountain in the evening before our meal and none of the outside lights were on, none of the outside fire pits lit...just the most underwhelming ambiance. The place feels like a dated Amish twilight zone. When we arrived at the dining room for our dinner we entered to the sounds of no music but children running around and crying and screaming. We knew it was family friendly but imagined that the main dining that was so "esteemed" based on the website, and costs over $150 per person (before drinks) was going to have a section for adults only (especially on Valentine's Day) but really it was like a loud cruise dining hall or theme park dining hall. We had a prix fixe menu but there were folks getting buffet behind us- there's a giant buffet in the middle of the room- just ZERO ambiance. For what we paid for this evening I am utterly shocked at the experience. We are so disappointed and feel robbed of $400 and our valentines dinner. There are so many other incredible dining experiences we could have in the Hudson valley for half that price. What a scam. We will never be back. read more

We spent the weekend at Mohonk Mountain House and had the chance to enjoy several meals at the restaurant during our stay. Everything--from the atmosphere to the service--was excellent. Our first dinner was especially relaxing. We sat by the window with beautiful views, and the ambiance was cozy and peaceful. The meals were served as a pre-fixe with starter, entrée, and dessert options. That evening, I started with the muhammara. It was flavorful and served with crispy fried pita. I personally prefer a bit more heat, but the texture and seasoning were spot on. For my entrée, I chose the seared chicken breast--tender and well-seasoned, though the portion was more than I could finish. Dessert was a standout: the mascarpone torta cake was light, creamy, and absolutely incredible. I'd give it 10 stars if I could! The second night, I tried the cauliflower bisque, and wow--it was rich, creamy, and delicious. Easily my favorite dish of the night. My entrée was the pumpkin fregola, which was fine but didn't quite match the wow factor of the soup. We ended our trip with breakfast at the restaurant, which is served buffet-style. The spread was generous, with tons of options for all kinds of tastes. It was a perfect way to wrap up a wonderful weekend. Pros - all inclusive hotel! - they had cute and fun activities planned for kids on our weekend visit including making ornaments, gingerbread house making event, taking pictures with Santa - they decorated it beautifully for Christmas - valet is included - rooms were small but roomy with a cute patio overlooking the lake! - overall service was commendable, everyone was really friendly - offer ice skating as part of the overnight stay too! Cons - you need to make reservations ahead of time for your meals which can be tricky with little ones. Difficult to make it to things right on time! - food was subpar...but I guess I can't ask for too much since it was all included! Would love to come back for the holidays! My friends and I had decided to do some hiking at the Mohonk Mountain House and opted to also have a meal there as we would be there for the almost the whole day. We went on a weekend so breakfast buffet, brunch buffet and dinner would be available; we choose to get brunch as it worked with our schedule. There were a variety of different stations and there were servers making the food such as cooking an omelette or serving the steak. We enjoyed the food and desserts and went out for a nice hike to walk off the calories afterwards. Overall, I think it was a nice experience and during the different season that one goes, there may be different foods available as well such as in the summer from what I've seen online. There is also a nice view from the wind does if one's party gets seated there and the dinning area is spacious with high ceilings. All of the staff were very friendly as well and we enjoyed our time there. read more

Very nice location to enjoy a meal. Many of the seats are next to windows which offer spectacular views. Even if you aren't seated by a window, you can see out from anywhere through the very large windows. The waitstaff try really hard. I imagine a lot of the workers are seasonal, but they are attentive and will pass along any dietary restrictions. The service is very prompt and waitstaff bring by drinks regularly. I think at least one glass of wine or a beer should be included for the price. Overall, a lovely space and enjoyable meals while staying at the Mohonk Mountain House. read more

I had the privilege to join my cousins for a 4-night stay. It was their 5th visit and my first. It exceeded my expectations, and I can't wait to return in the future in the warmer months. The views are spectacular!! Every staff member was friendly and attentive, and our room was cozy and warm with a balcony and lake view. Despite the frigid temps we took advantage of that view several times. The food was absolutely delicious with beautiful views from the windows. The breakfast buffet included an omelet station with many choices including lobster. The lunch buffet had a wide variety of choices, and I tried many of them, including salmon which I am leery about tasting fishy, but it was deliciously prepared in an orange/ginger glaze. We had several servers throughout our stay, but I want to give a shout out to Andjela D. for her genuine friendliness, being so attentive and her obvious love of her job. She was our server on our last night and while we hated the fact we had to leave such a magical place, she made it a memorable evening for us. I highly recommend the donkey pulled buggy ride to the top as the views are spectacular and Mickey was an excellent guide and we learned a lot about the resort. The barn museum is a must see as well. There are several trails and we walked a few. Next visit I hope to get to the tower. I also recommend the hour lecture on how the resort came to be the serene place that it truly is, starting from a tavern. If this amazing resort isn't on your bucket list, it needs to be!! read more

We had a wonderful few days together here. It's been on our bucket list for many years. However there were a few minor issues that I didn't expect at a top class resort. The first night our room was very warm. The cooling didn't work, so we slept badly. When I reported it, it turned out that the cooling valve was closed. Also the shower was lukewarm. This was fixed. The website and menu had typos on them. Website was fixed after I reported it. Exercise and yoga classes were supposed to be 45 minutes but one was 35 and two yoga classes were overlong. The cheese board claimed local cheeses, but they served a cheese described as Oregon Blue. Also, one night the waitress didn't know what cheeses were on the cheese board. Minor complaints during a delightful stay. I hope you can use this feedback to perfect your visitor's experience. read more

As a hotel guest, I ate here several times during my stay. This is the Main Dining room for hotel guests. Reservations are required for lunch and dinner service. This applies for both guests and folks visiting the resort for the day. I ate breakfast and dinner here during my hotel stay. The menu is no contact. Each table has a barcode which can be scanned in order to view the menu. There is one menu for breakfast, a separate menu for lunch and three menus for dinner. The dinner menu rotates daily between Plan A, B & C. The server will tell you which menu is appropriate for the day. The food was good. It is fine dining so portions are small which means I could have both an appetizer and dessert without feeling too guilty. The food presentation was good. I enjoyed most of the dishes I chose but thought the portion could have been slightly bigger and included more vegetables. Service was good. Staff were polite and accommodating. All staff wore masks and were a respectful distance when standing at your table. Each table was cleaned/disinfected between guests and there was sufficient space between tables. Overall, I had a good experience while dining. There are a variety of choices to suit a variety of guests including those with special diets. read more

After dining here for four meals I can say things were very hit or miss. The ribeye was grizzly and indistinguishable in shape, but the filet was the best I've ever had. The artichoke soup was great, but the French onion was under seasoned. Brunch was to be expected, the addition of lobster at the omelet station was great. Overall we found the meals here to be better than the average meals at all inclusive resorts we've been to, but maybe not quite at the level of some fine dining nyc restaurants. Very historic restaurant nestled in the backwoods of a golf course. If you have been to the Inn on Mackinac Island Mi, the Hotel Del on Coronado Island, or Oneonta in Cooperstown NY you would identify with it. Something to know - they don't valet for restaurant diners only - only resort guests. The view is scenic and relaxing.. The service is trained & 5 star. We got the 3 course meal. The cauliflower soup was slightly spicy but exceptionally smooth and dairy free but rich in flavor. My wife had the avocado mousse which was smooth, creamy and had soft and crispy baked pita chips. The steak had a very unique mushroom sauce and was very good. The Salmon was light and properly prepared & satisfied my wife who normally doesn't like salmon. The toasted almond budino explodes raspberry in your mouth with a rich chocolate glaze. The cheesecake with strawberry rhubarb was among the best my wife has ever had. Soup was warm at best. Did I say too rushed? 4) Mains were grouper and prime rib which were fair at best. The steak was well done and as I cut in to it I realized I wasn't asked how I like it "cooked," and the bordelaise sauce was sticky. The grouper was also only fair and as far as the tomato both (eh). The description from the menu didn't match what you get; no carrots w the meat( etc). We've been coming to Mohonk Mountain house for over thirty years. I've come with my husband, with grandchildren and girlfriends. It's now back to just me and my husband. The ambiance is so beautiful, the meals are delicious and the staff are very accommodating. You have everything you need: entertainment, lots of activities and plenty of delicious meals. Once they valet park your car you want need it again. If you arrive with young children they offer a free day camp and at night there's always a campfire with smores. My husband now has mobility issues so we rented a scooter. The staff and guests were so helpful and made sure he was comfortable navigating the hotel and grounds. Tho quite pricey you have everything included and you need not be worried about air travel. It's a quick drive from the ny/nj area. I always ask for the lakeside view in the Victorian section. In the winter make sure to ask for a fireplace. If you choose to eat at the granary for dinner instead of the main dining room, make sure to Preorder a lobster. Since we were here last the spa has been expanded and upgraded, the outdoor hot tub installed and an emphasis placed on food quality and service. The food was outstanding, and chef-manned food stations setup in the dining room with construction underway on the new kitchen wing. Offerings such as fresh shaved black truffles over pasta and Japanese A5 Wagyu (cut with fork) highlighted an all around winning recipe. Dessert included liquid nitrogen frozen chocolate and tons of toppings for your made to order sundae. Corkage was a modest $27. Breakfast expansive with fresh omelettes, pancakes, waffles, fruit and meats all spot on. Brunch was equally amazing with carved meats, super salad selections, sushi and more. Breakfast- the croissants were excellent, get the jam it tastes fresh with whole blackberries while we were there. The lobster omelette was excellent, french toast was quite good and the eggs Benedict as expected. The home fries were not good, I didn't like the flavor and sometimes came barely warm. The bacon is black pepper crusted, but on the fatty side as opposed to crispy/meaty. If you want a cappuccino it's extra. For the price of staying here the cappuccinos should be included. Lunch- the pumpkin soup was very good and the mushroom ravioli was delicious and rich. They had roasted brussel sprouts on the menu but the were quite large and whole so they were not cooked through and very hard. Great crab cake. Dinner- the bread is awesome and the flavored and whipped butter were really nice. The spinach artichoke dip was yummy. Ordered the dip twice! Specials were the ricotta gnudi and wild mushroom puff pastry. Both were great. Many people were having steak and they looked really good too. The chickpea cauliflower curry came highly recommended but I did not like it as it was sweet mixed with raisins. The desserts were all quite good. The cheesecake, creme brûlée and the ice cream were all well done! They had basil ice cream while we were there and it sounds strange but was amazing with a scoop of strawberry to go with it. Pretty disappointed with paying $30/person to hike and when we checked in at the gatehouse no one informed us about the COVID restrictions requiring registration to be able to eat. So we were onsite all day and only got some over priced pretzels, chips, and Gatorade from the vending machines. There wasn't any signs saying only COVID screened guests could eat. Honestly I would have appreciated some take out but the bartender was really rude and embarrassed us in the dining area in front of other guests telling us hikers aren't allowed and we need to leave. It could have been handled much smoother but I felt incredibly targeted and unwelcome. Better explanation of what my wrist band allowed me access to or signs posted would have clued us in on the situation so we could plan accordingly. I have been fully vaccinated since February of 2021 as well as the other members of our party and we were all wearing masks. I would have gladly brought my own food or gone to a pick up window to place an order and remain outside of the Mohonk House. Very unhappy with my experience!!! read more

It sure was better than eating hamburgers and hot dogs outdoor! I would not say this was the best buffet, but it was decent with quality and variety. Service was good. Soup - both steamy hot corn soup and chilled mint watermelon soup were good Craving station - salmon (I did not try) and prime rib which was okay Breakfast station - waffle which I like, mini pancakes (eye candy) and omelette which I did not try Ramen station - noodle and soup was okay but egg was way too salty crab cake is pretty good. The afternoon tea was included as part of day pass. I have high expectation after the buffet but was disappointed. The room did not have enough tables and seats. The tea was not strong enough. Mohonk Mountain House may be one of the most beautiful structures around. From whatever angle you come across it gave me some kind of mesmerizing stare. The room we had was nice, however the house has so much to offer the room was perfect for sleeping and bathing...the water temp in shower needs to be MORE HOT!!! The food was good not outstanding and again the temps of the food was lukewarm at best. The servers were nice but unfortunately they all need training and need to know the menu better. Afiilla Cress is a root vegetable not "some sort of rice". When I repeat myself twice about a severe food allergy I should not have to be asked "are you sure I never heard of that"... The spa was great and the staff make it special. Kind and warm people and the massage itself was done well. The mineral spa was very relaxing even in the cold and snow flurries... Front desk staff seemed a bit on edge. Part sarcasm part serious business? It doesn't work well for the nightly rate... Valet and luggage was spot on that entire staff were great but I can see that at a busier time that small area of drop off pick up would be totally congested. So my stars go to the spa, the house, the valet luggage staff and the amount of things to do. We will be back in the warmer months to see everything else the House has to offer. read more

The mineral pool with the snow outside was the highlight of the trip. - The staff, I thought, was quite lovely. Don't be a jerk and you'll enjoy the staff. Best staff was in the dining hall, worst staff was the valet at checkout. Total hot mess. - Meals, I thought were actually pretty good for an "all inclusive" type arrangement. I just wish with a nearly empty hotel I didn't need to make reservations ahead for such specific times, does it need to be such a production? The not so good: - the spa treatment was good, but value was not great. For $225/60 minute treatment: I think her hands were on me about 30 minutes of the full time. The rest was spent finicking around with product. - The rooms are pretty shit. Pretty antique but non functional furniture taking up space. Mattress was pretty bad. Scratchy old towels. Tiny little bathroom. Don't even think about trying to use the fireplace- the wood they'll provide you is soaked. - The indoor facilities are way underutilized. Devoid of life. Cold drafty halls. Empty rickety rooms. No board games? No music? Not even a piano player at night? The bar served us some of the worst drinks I've ever had- $40 and undrinkable. The vibes just ain't it. - The price even with the mid week winter special was pretty brutal. Horrible value for money. - While it looks upon first glance like there are a ton of activities, it's actually kind of brutal to utilize them without showing up with tons of gear and an exact pre plan. hours of things are bit odd, winter friendly non physical activities cost extra. No history tours because of Covid. The net net: this is an absolutely gorgeous house, on a magical property. The history and facade can't be beat. But I worry they're falling too far behind and fast. I'm all for tradition, but I didn't see a whole lot of that here. I saw overpriced, over fussed, and under delivered. We ate in the Main dining room. The setting is outstanding! A gorgeous wooden beam high ceiling with large picture windows overlooking the surrounding Mohunk Preserve. The service was outstanding with plenty of attendants waiting on us hand and foot. The food was satisfactory. Not quite the 5-Stars I had anticipated, so this explains my 3-star rating. I did not pay for dinner as my son was treating me for my birthday, but I know it was quite expensive. I ordered the halibut and it was over cooked and dry. I was so disappointed because halibut is one of my favorites. My first course was a tomato bisque soup which was a little sweet for my taste. My son had the Black Rice Porridge with Crab first course and he loved it. His fiancé was also pleased with her first course of French onion soup and also had the halibut. My son had the roast pork for his main course. The desserts were fine but nothing exceptional. We hiked to Skytop from the Mountain House and walked through the gardens which is a perk of having lunch or dinner reservations or staying in the hotel. A Hudson Valley institution for good reason. This is the kind of place you have to visit if you are visiting the Hudson Valley. Been there a million years and always busy. First, make rezzies, like now. The sooner the better. We wanted to change ours a couple days before, but nothing available, so we kept the one we had. While I've seen some criticisms of the authenticity of their German food, I have to disagree. My husbands family owned a good German restaurant for years in Poughkeepsie, and the food was on par. Excellent. Authentic. Seriously. While it might seem pricey, two people can easily share a dinner. We had enough leftovers for a second feast the next day at home. Killer spaetzle, perfect red cabbage and outstanding Sauerbraten. Delicious Rouladen as well. But the Sauerbraten is truly stellar. We actually look for German restaurants that offer it, just we can try and compare. We loved this place. German decor, lots of seating and very attentive staff. Go. Worth the trip. I love everything about fine dining. Everything from the decor, to the service, and most importantly the aroma/taste of the food. I really enjoyed eating here. The servers knew it was our first time and made it their business to make sure we had a lovely experience. They sat us at one of the best seats in the restaurant next to the window so we could enjoy the beautiful view. We really appreciated that. They go over the menu well and have a good selection to choose from with a wide variety of wine. The food was impeccable. I was full by the second course, but I definitely made sure I was able to get to the third because there was no way I was leaving without trying dessert! This place is formal attire. I wore a dress and heels and I'm glad I did because i would have felt very underdressed if I didn't. Most of the men had suit jackets on, so if you are a guy, it would be highly recommended. I tried all the restaurants at the Mohonk, and this one was by far my favorite. Definitely coming here again the next time we stay at the hotel. read more
