Okay, I'm going to be honest. I was not excited to come here at first. I love health foods, I…read moreadvocate for it, I respect it... but sometimes a girl just wants a greasy burger and fries, okay? But somehow I ended up at Chaumont in Beverly Hills and I'm glad I did. The restaurant is super cute. Very quaint. Very "I just stepped into a little café somewhere in Europe." But she is tiny. Not a lot of seating at all. If you can snag one of those little two-seater tables, you won. I came for breakfast, and I'll say this I wasn't super impressed with the drink options. There just weren't that many choices. BUT. I ordered a croissant with eggs and ham and baby... when I tell you it was so good I forgot I even wanted a drink? Flaky, buttery, perfectly done. It was one of those meals where you take a bite and just sit there like, "Oh. Okay. I see what we're doing." And the customer service? Amazing. Warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. So yes, I came in skeptical. But I'll definitely be back. Just maybe after I mentally prepare to embrace my soft, café-girl era.

For a bakery cafe in Beverly Hills, this place is a complete joke and really doesn't deserve a spot…read morehere as it lacks hospitality. Upon walking in, there was no friendly "welcome" or general greeting despite the presence of 2 employees at the counter. OK fine, not a big deal... so I went up to the display cases to browse the various pastries they had available and view the drink menu. Finally, I was ready to order so I proceeded to the register area. An Indian lady was standing there too busy looking between the display case of pastries and her inventory log to mind my presence. I stood there for a good minute or 2 before she finally said, "ready to order?" Again, no greeting, just want to take my order and be done with me -- what a warm, touching expression. I put in my order - a croissant, cardamon bun and an iced latte. They handed my pastries quickly without offering to heat up the pastries. Fine, let's try them out "fresh" then, shall we?? ... 1. Croissant (1/5) As plain and dry as croissants can be. I can make croissants better than this. Heck, Costco's croissants will beat theirs by ten-fold. There's no buttery-ness to it. It's just dry and slightly flaky dough. 2. Cardamon Bun (2/5) It had a beautiful design, but the taste and texture were not good. First off, the bread itself was dry and stale. Secondly, they used too much yeast in this pastry as you can taste and smell the sourness of the yeast. There are also parts of the dough where it was sticky/underbaked. The cardamon flavor was subtle. 3. Iced Latte (2/5) The most simple and plain latte one can imagine. The espresso was extremely weak. It almost feels like you're drinking cold milk that's dyed slightly brown. Luckily, it was a hot day, so I still downed this drink. My experience with Chaumont ends here ... nice knowing your existence, but I won't be coming back, nor will I recommend this place to anyone. Don't waste your money here!!

I NEVER write Yelp reviews, but this is more of an open letter to management, or the owners, or…read morewhoever thinks you can charge $6 for a 9-gram "doppio" espresso from a glorified plastic Keurig machine. The savory and sweet food is SO GOOD!! The service is better than any other local places, and very low-pressure. I say all of this from the perspective of someone who has worked alongside Physics PhD researchers and about five different Michelin-starred chefs. First of all, for how tucked-away Sweet Angeles is, this cafe/small restaurant felt like a hidden gem! They have FILET MIGNON on a dinner menu??!! I must, must, MUST come back to try that!! Veronica, with her incredible tray of sweet samples, piqued my curiosity to enter Sweet Angeles, but "B" is definitely the person who convinced me to stay! As a coffee scientist (and perhaps snob? ) of decades, I had far, FAR too many annoying questions to ask, and "B" both tolerated and answered each of them with a degree of empathy that was top-notch and rarely found in LA nowadays. Really more of a Ritz-Carlton level of customer service than a cafe experience. The owners should be very proud of this. I only ordered a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese (and what they call "coffee"), but the sandwich was SO perfect! You'd be amazed by how many cafes screw up something with only three ingredients, but this was likely better than one I would make myself. The sweets are TRULY unique in their construction, presentation, texture, and flavor -- DO try the one with pistachio and raspberry, as well as the "Nutella one that's fluffy like a pillow" -- you WILL NOT be disappointed!! As I was leaving, "B" asked my honest 1-10 opinion of the cafe. I told her I'd give it a 9/10, which in Yelp-land amounts to a solid five stars. The few small things that are "off" or otherwise "wrong" about Sweet Angeles? They are listed below, but I remind you, EVERY business can always improve no matter how wonderful they are. #1 -- This one is bad for the owners, but GREAT for the customers! THE SAVORY FOOD PRICES ARE TOO LOW!! At a VERY over-rated Ukrainian cafe, I paid DOUBLE for a bagel/lox/cream cheese sandwich that was inedible, and Sweet Angeles still has to pay their Rodeo Drive rent prices! They could increase food prices significantly if they wanted. #2, 3, and 4 -- The espresso is overpriced (~$6 for a plain black shot), the machine is a budget touch-screen model (not commercial-grade), and the beans are over-roasted and generic. For context, a proper shot should be ~$4.50 max, and this was a one-button operation worth about the price of its paper cup. I'd expect this hospital/airport-quality to be priced ~$2.25-$3.25. That said, this is a BUSINESS OWNER decision and does NOT reflect the excellent warmth and service of the employees. I understand that Armenians have different tastes (compared to modern, specialty, or "3rd wave" Western palates) regarding coffee, and they have their own distinct methods of producing it. This was NOT Armenian-style coffee, which is something I would LOVE to see at a shop like this () -- single-served "Jazzve" coffees which take a couple of minutes to make, rather than the plastic "espresso machine" with the plastic hot water tubing and other parts. I want to reiterate that the food was FANTASTIC and actually under-priced, and the employees were extremely welcoming and very kind considering the endless questions I asked. If the manager or owners just so happen to read this 10-page essay, I want to say this... I would happily help you (possibly even for free) with: 1. finding proper coffee beans at an affordable price, 2. finding someone to buy the pretend espresso machine, 3. finding, buying, or financing a new (or lightly used) proper espresso machine, 4. buying a couple of high-quality grinders (very crucial), and 5. training on how to produce the basic espresso drinks in the way that local AND international customers have come to expect in this city, and I'd also be happy to teach latte art. AGAIN, I still give this place a 9 out of 10, because it's obviously a bakery before it's a coffee shop. When asked, I told "B" the shop's a 9/10, but the coffee was a 2/10, but I was being polite. The coffee was really and truly a 1/10. Maybe it tastes better with matcha, food coloring, and various milk products? Who knows. But if the owners/management want to make Sweet Angeles a 12 out of 10, and genuinely achieve excellence, they should feel very welcome to reply to this 5-star review and get in contact with me. Good coffee is often the difference between a business "just surviving" and truly winning the game. From the heart -- I wish you all the best, Sweet Angeles!

Service was a little slow at first and there was only one family ahead of me. Perhaps they were busy making their orders. They only had one person working at the counter. However, once the representative approached me, he took his time helping me choose my order and he was very nice. I found this place while searching for cupcakes on Yelp. There are not many cupcake options in the area anymore. However, I learned they only have cupcakes available for preordering. There were none in store which was disappointing. Additionally, I did not see a lot of the pastries that are shown on Yelp. Seems like they changed their dessert menu within the last year. They do have little pastries, cakes, drinks, and a savory menu with crepes. The pastries are gorgeous and I was excited to try them. However, according to the representative most are made with beef gelatin and are therefore, not vegetarian so, being a vegetarian, my options were limited. I appreciate that he let me know. They did have a vegetarian option for me though. I ordered the raspberry cake. It was delightful. Not as showy as the mousse gelatin desserts but still a pretty dessert and very tasty and melt in my mouth soft. Overall, a cute yet very touristy place to visit. Since options for me were limited I probably would not return as it is out of the way but I do think it was worth a try and a one time treat and what I got was delicious. Parking on the street. Valet parking available next door. Public parking lots nearby.

I was sold on the Baklava Latte and requested it with almond milk. The girl that took my order was friendly as was the other gal behind the counter. Not living in LA means YELP is our go to especially since we must find a place that offers gluten free options for the little. I came across this place on the yelp search and it claimed 100 percent gluten free and for that I was intrigued and extremely thankful. This location was in Beverly Hills, parking was easy(we found street, metered parking) not a lot of traffic for it being a Saturday morning but we were new to that area so I cant say what the norm is. When we walked in the bakery was busy with happy customers, amd we were immediately greeted by a couple of the most genuinely nice people of whom I assume are the owners (sorry I forgot to ask). Usually when walking into a bakery that has gluten free options my daughter always looks to me.to see what she can have and from that she willl make a couple or selections, all of which is extremely limited. This time I was able to tell her she could choose anything. Thw way her eyes lit up when she saw the glazed donut, it makes a mom heart want to cry when she gets to experience something so normal as a glazed donut but in this case a glazed donut on a whole other culinary level( so amazingly delicious). She told the gluten free genius helping her that she had never had a glazed donut and he packaged it up on the house. Hannah then proceeded to order as many things from the case as I would allow for the moment. She just wanted to try all the things she had never been able to before. I did have to promise we would be back to buy more the next time we come to LA. She settled on most of the sweets although this bakery has bagels and sourdough bread. Shes not much of a bread eater in general unless its smothered with Nutella so next time we will try the breads. So back to the experience, we sat down and she tried a bite or 2 of everything and LOVED IT ALL!! The glazed donut met all of her expectations and blew her mind. Coming in to second place was the Oreo babka and the croissant. Before leaving Hannah went to thank them and tell them she loved it, she was then given a second item to try(the chocolate croissant). We took it to go and she tried it in the car on the way to the Getty, she was in pure food bliss. Thank you for creating a bakery for the adults and the littles that is safe and delicious. But most importantly thank you for treating my daughter with the utmost respect and genuine kindness you dont find just anywhere. We WILL be back soon. Hannah rates service and sweets, 1 million stars!

The customer service person assured me that they would put it aside for me with my name on it. I arrived about 10 minutes after the time I had ordered it for, as traffic was atrocious.
